Lvm voltage input problem

Hi there, I am trying to import a simple voltage profile in a lvm file (made by a NI 6009 USB DAQ), and run it through a simple rectifier:
I attached a pic of the circuit.  If I disconnect the rectifier I do get the correct profile from the voltage.  When the rectifier is connected (as in the pic)n the input voltage and after rectifier voltage can be seen on the oscilloscope for one cycle, then when they converge at 0, I get a simulation error.  I run the Convergence Assistant but it fails..  If I put an AC source component instead of the lvm input component the circuit works fine.  Hmm sure hope someone can help.  I can send the lvm and multisim files if needed.
Thanks,
David

  • Is there a way to get more voltage input range from an SCXI-1520?

I suspect the answer is no, but Im going to ask anyway. I am using an SCXI-1520 strain gauge signal conditioner to monitor strain gauge bridges. Additionally, Im using an unused input to measure voltage. The SCXI-1520 has an input range of -10 to +10VDC and I am using it to measure 0 to +10VDC. The problem is that the sensors that Im measuring may have a slight more output than +10VDC. For example, a sensor may output up to +10.1vdc, which is acceptable for the sensor. The problem of course is that the system reads 10.1 as 10.0, which is an error. I could put a resistive voltage divider at the voltage input and scale the numeric output, but thats a hassle. My NI sales rep would appreciate my purcha
sing an additional SCXI card to handle the voltage, but thats more $$$. (Especially for only one voltage input.) Is there a way to increase the range through software?

I will not answer your question but will ask you something that may be familiar to you.
Im sure your SCXI 1520 is connected to a DAQ card, right?
For example, if you specify the voltage input range of the 1520, what happens to the input range of the DAQ card. Is it put on default (maybe +/- 10V)? Do you know a way to manipulate both the input ranges of the DAQ card and scxi 1520?
    Thanks!

  • Acroread 8.x CJK input problem

    See also https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=353251
CJK input doesnt work right in the English version of
    acroead 8.1.1 or the pre-release version 8.1.2.
First of all, one needs to set
    export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim
to make acroread react at all to the hotkey which triggers
SCIM input (default hotkeys on openSUSE are Shift+Space and Control+Space).
    When GTK_IM_MODULE=scim or GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge, acroread
wont react to the hotkey which enables SCIM at all.
With GTK_IM_MODULE=xim, the scim input method *can* be
enabled by Shift+Space. But it doesnt work right.
One can see correct Japanese in the popups shown by scim when
converting phonetics to Chinese characters. But the predit string
shows garbage which seems to resemble Arabic. And after comitting
everything typed is converted to question marks (acroread 8.1.1)
    or boxes (acroread 8.1.2).
I am talking about the *English* versions of acroread here, not
    localized Japanese versions like e.g.
    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/8.x/8.1.1/jpn
As it is not nice to have completely packages for each language, I
hope that the different language versions can be merged into one in
    the long run.
It would be very nice if there were only one basic version and to
support other languages one only had to add fonts and translations and
    not exchange the binaries.

    Mike,
Could you confirm if everything is working fine with the Japanese Reader
downloaded from the Reader website? That'll be really strange since the Viewer
binaries should be identical in the English and Japanese versions. The only
difference in the 2 installers should be in the fonts and the resource
    libraries.

OK, I tried with the special Japanese version of acroread (8.1.1)
    as well.
There is no difference in behaviour between the Japanese acroread
8.1.1 and the English acroread 8.1.1 and the English acroread 8.1.1 as
far as the input problem reported here is concerned! All of them show
    the problem as reported here.
But I found that it depends on the locale. If acroead is started
    in ja_JP.UTF-8 locale
    LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 acroread
the problem occurs as reported here.
However, if acroread is started in ja_JP.eucJP locale
    LANG=ja_JP.eucJP acroread
the Japanese input works fine! Thats the same with the Japanese and
    the English version of acroread.
As UTF-8 locales are the default nowadays on most Linux distributions,
it is important that this works not only in legacy locales like
    ja_JP.eucJP but also in ja_JP.UTF-8.

The screen-shot seems to indicate you are trying to enter japanese characters
in a standard GTK+ edit field. The core Reader code actually doesn't interact
much with the control during the process of entry of text.
Could you try the following -
    1. When the default locale is eucJP, what happens in a standard edit field in
some other GTK+ app., for instance gtk-demo? If you don't have gtk-demo, you
could even try the same thing in the Open dialog in the Adobe Reader, where you
    type the file name.
    2. If you don't export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim, can you make the IME appear in some
other GTK+ app. like the gtk-demo?
My guess is this (atleast point 1 above) may be a problem with GTK+, though we
are investigating this at our end as well. Maybe an issue with the fonts that
get loaded when the locale is UTF-8, vs eucJP. That's the reason, the
characters loaded from the IME are showing as question marks.

    Gaurav Jain> gtk-demo?
In gtk-demo, Japanese input works both for ja_JP.eucJP locale
    *and* for ja_JP.UTF-8 locale.
And it works for all values of GTK_IM_MODULE which I tried
    (GTK_IM_MODULE=xim, GTK_IM_MODULE=scim, and GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge.
Gaurav Jain> If you don't have gtk-demo, you could even try

Gaurav Jain> where you type the file name.
Japanese input in the Open dialog of the Adobe Reader behaves
exactly like in the search field of the Adobe Reader:
    - works fine in ja_JP.eucJP locale
    (for all values of GTK_IM_MODULE)
    - does not work in ja_JP.UTF-8 locale
(not for any of the above mentioned values of GTK_IM_MODULE)
Gaurav Jain> 2. If you don't export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim, can you make
Gaurav Jain> the IME appear in some other GTK+ app. like the gtk-demo?
In gtk-demo the IME appears and works fine.
In acroread, the IME appears for all values of GTK_IM_MODULE (xim,
scim, scim-bridge) and input works fine in ja_JP.eucJP locale. In
ja_JP.UTF-8 locale, the IME appears as well and input seems to be
possible but the result is garbage as in my screen shot.

I found that the problem occurs *only* with GTK_IM_MODULE=xim,
contrary to what I wrote in comment #8.
That was my fault, because I still had
    # Workaround for http://rudin.suse.de:8888/show_bug.cgi?id=85416
    # (see comment #37):
    export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim
patched into the beginn of the acroread start-script.
Apparently this is not needed anymore, input using
    GTK_IM_MODULE=scim and GTK_IM_MODULE=scim-bridge seems to
work fine now in acroread 8.1.2.
*But* the problem I described here occurs with GTK_IM_MODULE=xim.
    Sanika,
can you reproduce the problem with GTK_IM_MODULE=xim ?

  • HT201700 Voltage input range for original Macbook air 2008/2009

My charger (A1244 | 45w) no longer works. And I need to buy a new charger. Since this is for an old 2008 macbook air, the smart thing to do is buy a charger that will work with new models (that require 85w).
Apple doesn't make this power tolerance specification easily available online. This page is helpful, but doesn't provide the tolerance specification....

"the smart thing to do is buy a charger that will work with new models (that require 85w)."
No, the smart thing is to buy the proper replacement for the power adapter.  Since the power adapter connector has changed, you'll also need to purchase an adapter for the MagSafe connector.

  • Solution for terminal input problem

    (my english is bad, sorry)
Hi, this thread is for programmers who like console applications (ncurses based).
As you all know, terminal emulators have a big problem with user input. Their input system is good for CLI, but really sucks when using full screen applications like vim, emacs, mc, ncmpc, htop, rtorrent, irssi (I mean all ncurses based or slang based which use cursor movement). Examples of this problem:
    - Ctrl-L and Ctrl-Shift-L generate the same single byte in the terminal; namely 0x0c. They are indistinct.
    - Ctrl-I and Tab generate the same single byte in the terminal; namely 0x09. They are indistinct.
    - UTF-8, Alt+letter, Esc-letter all generate the same bytes in the terminal. E.g. é vs. Alt+C Alt+) vs. Esc C Esc )
But there is no simple and nice solution. Problems cannot be solved without fixing the terminal itself and without breaking some backward compatibility. But I think a lot of console-addicted programmers want to solve them.
So, here is my way of solving this problem.
    http://nsf.110mb.com/termbox/termbox-concept.html
The main idea is to add a new terminal mode called "RAW input". This mode will send special events almost directly from X11 to console application.
On this page I introduced a simple demo application and an rxvt-unicode-9.02 patch.
In this version of my hack, echoing in terminal is broken. You can't enable echo with this new mode yet. But I can solve this too.
It is simple and needs a little bit more hacking of terminal. Terminal should start all input messages with unique escape sequence and when it receives echo of these messages, it should ignore them. But also terminal should send these input messages *with* usual symbols, so they can be echoed.
So I want to know what do you think about all this.

  • What's the voltage input needed to run and charge the iPad 4?

What's the voltage input needed to run and charge the iPad 4?

As long as the charger is rated for at least 10 watts or 2 amps it well charge the iPad just fine. A higher rated charger such as the 12 watt 2.4 amp charger will also charge the iPad, possibly a little faster, but it will not damage it. Chargers rated at 5 watts or 1 amp may charge an iPad very slowly if not at all.
Just be aware some cheaper dual port USB chargers share the 2 amps. It will charge an iPad in one port but adding another will reduce the current to both ports to 1 amp. An iPhone may charge fine but the power would be reduced to the lower level and slow an iPad charging on the other port. The one you link to will work fine although it looks as though one port is 5 watt/1 amp and the other is 10 watt/2 amp. There are many adapter's available that will supply 10 or 12 watts to both ports to future proof the charger giving you the capability to charge 2 iPads or other more demanding smart phones with larger batteries. I like Scosche reVolt chargers, they cost a little more but they are a quality product. If you want the best option go with a 12 watt charger which can speed up charging on many products a little more than a 10 watt can.

  • Can 24VDC be safely applied to a voltage input on module 777518-110?

I have a Fieldpoint IO rack with only analog inputs available as spares. I want to use one of these analog voltage inputs sdimply as a on / off monitor for a 24VDC signal. Do I need to lower this voltage to say 10V or can I simply apply the 24V to the input without causing damage to the module?

    Hello DMoyer,
The FP-AI-100 and FP-AI-102 have voltage ranges of ±30 V and ±120 V, respectively.  However, the FP-AI-110 only has a maximum voltage range of ±10 V, so you would need to lower the voltage to be within this range to avoid damage to the module.

  • Locating and solving problem due to a high voltage input to DAQ

Hi! By mistake a high voltage was fed through input channel of my DAQ NI PCI-6052E. After that daq is not functioning(giving -10V measurement always). I use SCB-68 connector block with this DAQ card. I checked the connector with the output board pci6711 and found it was functioning. How can I trace out the location of the problem?

  • Problems with Analogue Voltage Inputs

    Hello Everyone.
I am kinda embarassed here. This is a simple question
I am trying to read an anologue input voltage to reflect transformed phase voltages from a 3 phase machine.
When I try to configure the channel the inputs seem to be all high (5V), using labview, though there is no voltage on the terminals.
I am using the DAQ assistant to configure the channel.
I have tried several things and cannot resolve this. I have LAbview 7.1, and a 6025E card.
    Can anyone please help.
    Thanks for your time.

Read the manual about bias current(s) on your input
Open channels can drift to any possible input voltage if they don't have a current path for the bias current.

  • LVM 2.0 Problem with System Refresh

    Hello,
we're using LVM 2.0 (latest SP)  for refreshing a QA System. For testing we use the task list SAP_BASIS_COPY_REFRESH via the LVM.
The SAP table export is working and the data is written to /tmp/VCM_pca/<SID>/vcm_exp_<SID>_2014_08_28_15_23.
After that the system is build via LVM with NetApp volume clonening.
The sytem is coming up and task list SAP_BASIS_COPY_REFRESH should delete table data from the source system and import the saved from the previously step.
But we get the following error:
Task list run SAP_BASIS_COPY_REFRESH_20140828132612 does not exist in the file system
Executing RFC 'STC_TM_SESSION_IMPORT' with the following arguments: RFC Destination Name: 'LVM_SystemID.ER5.SystemHost.saper5.<domain>.Client.000.Import'; Input Parameters
    '{PARAM_SESSION_ID=SAP_BASIS_COPY_REFRESH_20140828132612}'.
So LVM is not able to find the export data. When I execute the task list manually via STC02 in the new system the task list is executed and the data is imported.
Is it maybe a time problem?
The export folder is named _2014_08_28_15_23  but LVM is searching for SAP_BASIS_COPY_REFRESH_20140828132612, so there is a time difference of two hours.
Our systems have the same time.... !
    Any ideas?
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
I checked with our DEV team and below is the feedback:
The way it works is - the refresh task-list will export the data and come to a special confirmation task where LVM confirms the task and saves the task list to the file system. Once the copy is done, LVM imports the task-list and continues with the import.
LVM creates a folder for storing the task-list and the export data and in your case, LVM is looking in the wrong folder for the import
    task-list and the import data.
The name of the folder & the name of the task list run are two different things.
The time difference of two hours probably means; that LVM is in a different time zone (CEST) then the target host / system (UTC). The folder is created by LVM whereas; the task-list is run by the system. In general, this should not cause any problems however, it still makes sense to check the time-zone maintained within LVM with the time-zone of the system to rule this out completely.
LVM adds the path to the export directory to the DEFAULT profile of the target system (ctc/export_data = …). You should check if this is the correct folder, containing the task list run. This info. can also be found in the LVM logs.
    Hope this helps!

    Adarsh

  • Converting cDAQ voltage input to PSI using Y=MX B formula

    Hello -
I have been tasked with writing a VI that will take in the input from 16 different Sensor-Technik Pressure Transmitters (model A08) and converting them into a readable output in the form of an on-screen gauage.
This is my first expierence with LabView so it's been an adventure!
So far I've gotten my cDAQ unit installed on a test stand server with NI 9205 module and all the drivers.  The pressure transmitters are all hooked up as well and wired into the NI 9205.  I've also got LabView 2011 installed on a development server and the cDAQ is hooked up to it via Anywhere USB.  The server finds and installs the drivers for the cDAQ unit no problem and I can take sample readings.
I've also found the formula for converting voltage to PSI for my transmitter which seems to be Y=50(10)+0
The problem is, I can't find where I would do this conversion within LabView!  I'm not even sure if I should be using LabView as opposed to MAX or SignalExpress.  Any help that could point me in the right direction would be great!

I downloaded the drivers from here:
    http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2604/lang/en
because I was having issues installing the drivers that came on the Device Drivers DVD (marked August 2011).  I ran the driver setup again and it would appear I have everything I should need installed.  I see no references to "DAQ Assistant" anywhere in the install.  The application "LabView 2011 Support" is installed, but I can't find any references to the DAQ Assistant anywhere in LabView.  I can't even find any references to my DAQ in LabView!
I'm sorry for the seemingly simple questions but I am having all sorts of trouble with this!

  • Why "Acq&Graph Voltage-Int Clk.vi" does not get constant voltage for constant voltage input?

    Dear All
    Labview 7.1/XP/NI6221
I try to use NI 6221 to read analog input by using "Acq&Graph Voltage-Int Clk.vi".
The reading voltage does not constant and not correct value, when I put constant voltage.
How should I solve this problem?  Thank you.
When I use "DAQ Assistant" to read analog input it work well.
    Thongchai

    Thongchai,
As I recall from an earlier discussion exchange with you, you are performing Reference Single Ended (RSE) measurements on channels 0-3, is that correct?  In the example, there is no selection for the input terminal configuration on the DAQmx Create Task -- for M-Series boards on channels 0-8 the default configuration is differential.  If you right click on this input and select "Create Constant", you can choose RSE and it should measure the correct values.  Let me know how that works for you.

  • My voltage input reading are floating around and cant seem to get an accurate reading of any kind. What is causing this?

Im trying to input a DC voltate on channel 1. So i hook up +5 to the channel 1 analog input, and hook up ground to the AIGND. When i measure it in continous time, i get a reading of -1.3 V, when i move the cable connecting the NI board and the DAQ, the voltage jumps around. I even tried connecting AIGND straight to channel 1 analog input, and read a voltage of 2.3, but its not stable, it jumps around a lot. What is this problem. please help

This is going to depend on how you have your DAQ board configured. In differential mode, the positive input is channel 0, but the negative input is channel 8 (for 8 differential/16 single ended MIO boards. Channel 32 is - on 32 differential/64 single ended MIO boards). (Similarly, chan 1 (+) and chan 9 (-) are the next channels, etc).
For single ended mode, chan 0 is the +, and AIGND is the -.
I suspect you have your board in differential mode, and your - is not connected to the correct pin; therefore, your voltage is floating.
