Mac Mail v7.3 an triplicate sent emails in Mavericks 10.9.3

I'm using a POP email account, hence the issue is not the same as those reporting duplicates with IMAP accounts.
The issue seems to be with the Send button combined with a specific mouse action, has anyone else experienced this?
I have had this occur about 3-4 times but I haven't been able to intentionally reproduce it. All emails get what seems to be the exact time stamp, but analysis is needed on the seconds rather than the minutes. Does anyone have an idea how to view a more accurate time stamp?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

os x lion mail does not save icloud sent email with attachment... are there people who experience the same problem? i was with Apple Support via chat and he could not resolve the problem. I was given a phone number to call, i assume it's tech support for OS X or Mail but I did not have time to be on the phone for a long time... thank you

I finally fixed it! I verified and repaired disk permissions on my Mac... how come the Apple Tech Guy didn't know that???!!!! Shocking

  • My mac mail won't let me receive emails but will let me send them. How do i fix this ?

my mac mail won't let me receive emails but will let me send them. How do i fix this ?

I am intermittently having the same problem. I can send email, but once the Mail application is opened, it will only pull emails in from the server one time and then I have to "Force Quit" and restart the application to receive incoming mail again.  I've tried restarting the computer. I've made sure I have all the system updates. I've checked for conflicts between applications and so far nothing fixes the problem. Once in a while, Mail starts functioning normally on its own, but in a few days it goes back to the same old problem. Has anyone figured out what if going on with this isse?

  • Mail.app always puts a sent email in Outbox, sends on open

Mail.app always wants to have one of my sent emails in the Outbox.
When I open Mail, it send the message.
This is really annoying as it is a message I've already sent, so I have to let the recipient know to ignore it.
It is a different email each time. If I delete the message from the Outbox, it appears as though the Outbox is empty. But if I click on another Mailbox, then click back on the Outbox, there is another email waiting to be sent when I re-open Mail.app!
I've tried rebuilding the mailbox, which doesn't fix it.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    James.

    Thanks Allan.
Good suggestion. Tried it but unfortunately it didn't work. it recreates the Outbox directory in ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes when I open it. The directory no longer has anything in it (ie no info.plist of Massages folder).
But when I am in Mail.app it still has a message in the outbox. I have to delete it quickly when I open Mail.app, otherwise it will send it.
After I delete it, the window has no messages in it, but on the left the mailbox has a '1' in circle next to it. When I click on another mailbox then click back on Outbox, a 'new' (but previously sent) email is there ready to resend.
I'm using IMAP and my Mail.app at home does not have this problem (both machines are using Leopard 10.5.3)

  • Mac mail on desktop reaaly slow fetching emails

i have another mail account for my wife with .mac and for some reason on her mini mac is very very slow bringing in emails... if i go to activity viewr its seems to take ages downloading mail, tranering mailboxes and syncing etc.. and i mean slowwww. she only has 52 e-mails in her box... any ideas?

Solved the mystery. I just wasn't seeing it before. The contact info on two different contacts was somehow, accidentally altered to include my .mac email as their work email. Since they came before me in the address book, they showed up under their home email address. I removed the errant email info and the problem was solved.
    thanks anyway

  • Mac Mail downloading archived, deleted and trash email from my Gmail account.

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro Retina - retiring my old MacBook. When I synced Gmail with my Mac Mail all archived/deleted Gmail is coming in like new into my Mac Mail Inbox. This was never the case before. Any idea how to stop this? It's downloading thousands of emails in the order I received them.

Turns out a hard reset did the trick

  • Mac Mail / Erroneously Addressed + Content Errors in Email

    Hi There!
I am having a very strange problem where the email selected is not matching up with my mac mail preview window (or body thereof).
    - The mail in some cases shows a different email sender and content from months ago.
    - My blackberry is receiving the mail properly.
    - I am repairing disk permissions (of which there are lots to repair evidently), but am at a loss as to what to do next.
    Thoughts?
    See screenshot:

It started about two months ago, after over five years of flawless performance.  Doesn't happen very often (like, maybe 1-2 instances per hundred messages, but when it does, it can REALLY foul up things (like getting spam **** with a header from my credit card, etc.)

  • Mac mail on Macbook pro not sending email suddenly

    OS X 10.6.8
Mac mail was working up to yesterday.
NO changes to the box or mail.
Mail will receive but not send mail; alerts with an smtp error.
    Installed Thunderbird, same problem.
Mac mail on an iMac, works fine.
Thunderbird on Win Vista works fine.
pop and smtp settings are identical on all boxes.
Turned off the firewall on the laptop - no joy
Searched and have killed/rebuilt the keychain several times.
    Confirmed password is correct
I have not killed and recreated the mail account; if that actually works, let me know and I'll try again.
I have rebuilt the mailbox - no joy.
Ran the diagnostics and green lights on both pop and smtp so it seems that logins are working, just can't send mail.
Any suggestions?  Is there any reason that mail would stop working on the laptop but continue working on the desktop?  I'm not a Mac guy so I've run out of options and any pointers would be appreciated.

"Note all the settings on the functional Mac and then transfer them to the non-functional one."
That'd be the problem.  I've checked and double checked the settings/configuration; even went over them with my wife reading one set and me the other - everything matches.  So, I'm making the assumption that we're missing the forest for the trees and it's something totally stupid like a swapped set of letters or an L for an I kind of thing.  In order to totally eliminate these kinds of S.U.E.'s, I'd like to move a copy of the files that are the actual config from the working machine to the non-functional machine.
Since OSX is basically BSD, I'm kind of making the assumption that all the important stuff is stored in config files; I just have not been able to figure out which files and where they live.
Keep in mind that the laptop went toes up without anyone making any changes so I'm not totally convinced the issue is a typo.  I've searched for other reasons a system would stop sending mail and am not getting any hits that are meaningful.  If anyone has any ideas, let me know.
    TIA

  • Mac Mail randomly deleting more than one email at a time when using the garbage can icon

I have been using Macs since the 2e, so I know about things like "rules" and such. However I just went from 10.6 to 10.8.2 and now have this wierd glitch, beyond the random dropping of my wifi connection. That is an iritation, the muti-deleting of mails in my inbox is much worse.
Basically I click on the highlighted Email to trash it, and the next one in line goes too. This is a random occurance (about once every 4 or 5 deletes) but realy needs to stop. Does anyone see this, besides me?
Took the combigned 10.6.8 to 10.8.2 update (digital of course).

I have the same problem, did you get a resaloution?

  • .mac mail 10.3.9 restrict unsolicited Email

With all software up to date:
    Opened Server Admin. application
    Mailserver was running
    Opened Netinfo Manager
Navigated to second column, I searched for "config" , it could not be located

Does each account from the same domain have a different user name?
If so, using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account mamed folder.
There will be an account named folder for each POP account - named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account.
For POP type accounts, the following mbox files with an .mbox extension will be available if the function has been used by the account:
    INBOX.mbox
    Drafts.mbox
    Sent Messages.mbox
    Deleted Messages.mbox
Junk.mbox (if Junk Mail is set to automatic)
In addition, there should be a MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded file and NO folders.
Confirm this is the same within each POP account named folder.

  • Stop mac mail from pushing to my other email accounts.

I set up my Mobile me account a long time ago to push to another email account and now I don't know how to stop that. I'm sure it was in preferences then and now that iCloud is active I have no idea how to stop it and can't seem to find the setting.

    Imp68 wrote:
It is likely a "rule" that was setup.
Yes, but if it was setup on the Mobile Me website (in settings) it will not appear in Mail, so the OP should check whether or not it can be unchecked in the iCloud site as well as locally, in Mail.
    Forget that

  • Mac Mail: How do I remove deleted emails' subject history from mailbox search

Even though the emails are long deleted (& deleted from trash) when I enter in the mail search field old email subjects still appear?
Is there a way to stop this happening?

    Hi there,
You may need to rebuild the mailbox in order to update the search index. Take a look at the article below for more information.
