Mac mini update how long should this take?
I accepted an update for it about 20mins ago, it rebooted and has just been sat there, not doing much? Do I just need patience, it makes the normal hard drive noises now and then.
I don't know how long migration takes...it's a process frought with potential problems. I strongly suggest a clean install of OSX followed by clean installs of your software if it is at all possible. While it may seem like a pain, it's no worse than the 6 hrs + you have already spent. I think you'll find -most- folks here prefer to not use migration assistant. A short search on migration assistant will show you why.

Restore Ipod? How Long Should This Take?
I received my replacement iPod back from Apple this afternoon. As a Windows 2000 user, I followed the instructions provided to reset the iPod for Windows. Namely to install the latest updater, restart PC, run updater... connect iPod and select Restore when the box became available.
The message then popped up saying Your iPod has been restored to factory settings and is restarting. Please leave the iPod connected and wait while it completes the restore process.
Just how long should this take? I hit restore at 14:15pm UK time, it's now 22:15 and it's still sat there with the same message, iPod blinking Do Not Disconnect and seemingly nothing else happening. Should it be restarted by now?
If it helps, am running Win 2000 SP4, used iPod updater 11-17-05, PC has 192mb RAM and is PIII 600Mhz.

I clicked the X. It told me application couldn't be cancelled. Shut down PC anyway. Disconnected iPod. Apple logo shows up. Battery charger image shows, so I connected it to the mains charger... it sat there, thought about it and told me it was fully charged! Is now sat here quite happily accepting tunes from my iTunes library!
Thanks ever so much for the help, really appreciate it! Going to work tomorrow will seem more worthwhile having music to listen to! -
I've erased and formatted the hard drive accordingly in order to reinstall OS X. everything went fine until about half way through the install. it just seems to stop. how long should this take? should i do something else to speed it up?
About all you can do is wait until it finishes or you get an error message.

I have tried downloading the update for Firefox 3 times, but had to go to bed before it was finiahed....seemed to be more than 45 minutes is this normal? How long should it take?
Since the maximum OS X version for an eMac is 10.5, how are you running OS X 10.7.5 on the eMac?

The 2 computers here took about 45 minutes to an hour each.
The best thing to do is give it more time. If it gets too ridiculous, shutdown using the power button and then restart. Check menu/About This Mac to see if it is installed. -

eyedrbobThe speed of transfer also depends on how the external HD is connected, and how it was formatted.
The easiest way to move that kind of volume of photos (and it will take some hours) is to create a folder for them on the external HD, and then use SyncTwoFolders to make an exact copy of the folder now containing all your photos, in the new folder on the external.

How long should this take to load??
Hi..I just got my first ipod, and I've got it itunes loading up and everything...but it won't tell me just how long its gonna take. I'm not complaining...but, just how many MBs is the itunes store? I need to know because I can't keep it on the computer all day. I'd be very appreciative if someone could inform me either how long or how much data is being downloaded...thanks!
The whole process not including downloading iTunes the ios4 took about 15 minutes

My iphone froze this morning when trying to install updates, I had to restore it to factory settings and then chose to restore it from my back up information. It now shows "Restore in Progress" but nothing else - this has been going for about 80 minutes and I'm not sure if it has frozen again or if it is actually doing anything.

hey all i just wanted to know how should about 30minutes worth of video taped in Widescreen format on my Panasonic PVGS-31 and after i imported the video iMovie said "letterboxing this may take a while" how should it actually take? im waiting on it right now
i taped in Cineima mode on my camera and iMovie starded letterboxing. does it make it widescreen?
Did you define a widescreen iMovie project when you created a new project??
You can define widescreen in the iMovie's new project dialog by choosing "DV Widescreen". Not doing so will produce the problem you are experiencing. -
I have just installed Mountain Lion and was initially thrilled to see that my
calendars for iphone and ipad finally synced! However, the message on
my MacBook Pro calendar page is "moving calendars to server account"
and it's been doing that for about 1.5 hours at this point. The only way to get
out of calendar is to force quit, and when I restart, and go back to calendar,
it's right back with moving calendars to server account.

Ive been waiting 15 minutes now. Im trying to convert a 1 page pdf file to either word or excel.
File copying sounds pretty good to me, I have a similar set up. DVD burning on the other hand sounds dismal. I replaced my drive with a dual drive and find significant speed increases, try updating drivers, try popcorn to see if it's a toast issue ? Maybe you should move up to Tiger see if that helps, mind you if you do, I would strongly advise not going beyond 10.4.2 as this seems the most stable update for my Dual, beyond this, for me, means more minor problems, spinning beachball, Safari hanging and others. but 10.4.2 is considerably faster and slicker than Panther.

Transferring large data onto a machine over a WI FI network is not so reliable as a slight problem in WI FI signal can disrupt the data transfer.
I won’t suggest you to wait for the results.
If you can’t see any Cancel option then directly close the window or quit the application.
Backup, the music files from your windows PC then simply connect the external drive to your macbook air.
Important
Before backing up your windows files on the external hard disk, please format the disk to “ exfat “ format. As, this format is compatible with Windows and Mac OS for big data transfer.
