Mac OSX pre-installed?
Just received my new macbook (Core 2 Duo - 2.0 Ghz - 80 gig) for which I did not need to use the install disks as when I turned it on it asked me all my personal details, .mac memebership and then I directly hit the desktop.
This is different from what I had to do with my iMac and iBook.
Could anyone confirm that we OSX is already installed on macbooks?
I am actually worried as I put 10 gigas of music on and only have 46 gigs of memory left on a 80 (74) giga hard disk.

I've never bought a Mac that the OS wasn't installed. Yes OSX comes preinstalled.
Of course that means it comes with a lot of stuff that you don't actually need which is why you've got almost 30 GB's of stuff on yours already. GarageBand and its associated files takes up much of it. There's also a trial version of Microsoft Office and Apple's Office Suite. I personally use GarageBand so that's not an option for me to trash it but if it's something you won't ever use you certainly can gain some space there.
Actually you could do a fresh reinstall and use the "Custom" option and pick and choose what you want to install (like forgoing many of the print drivers and such). Since you just got it it wouldn't be too much hassle to start from scratch and custom install only what you want/need.

Can't start up with Mac osx after installing windows on partition
Hello guys.
I installed windows on a partition of 100gb and I restarted the iMac so I can log on to Mac osx.
I hold down the option key after I hear the sound but only the windows disk appears there.
I tried the DVD that came with my Mac by holding down the "c" key but nothing happened. I was holding it down for 2-3 minutes.
I need some help here
Is there a way to boot Mac again?
Is there a chance I deleted Mac osx by installing windows?
And if there is how the **** am I getting it back since the osx DVD does not boot??
Thanks in advanceThe Macbook will not allow you to startup with your Install DVD while you have Open Firmware password enabled. Disable that first, then try again....

I am bit confuse, how to deal with it, somewhere i read that I should erase the Hardrive and use Internet recovery but not sure. If I reinsatll it form 10.8 Recovery disk it ask for apple ID , but I didn't purchase ML.
Great! Then it came with Lion pre-installed and all you have to do is Internet Recovery as mende1 pointed out. COMMAND+R+OPTION keys held until you see a spinning globe then you can erase the drive using OS X Utilities and Disk Utility then reinstall Lion from the OS X Utilities menu.
I'm running ML that I got from the App Store on a mid-2011 Mac Mini. Internet Recovery ALWAYS gives me the ability to reinstall Lion which is what was pre-installed.
You don't want to use the current Recovery HD which is Mountain Lion. You want to use Internet Recovery. -
A1347.. MD388LL/A Mac mini pre-installed apps lost..?
Did my A1347.. MD388LL/A Mac mini (srl # C07L83VPDWYM, November 2013) come with the numbers app? I think the when I copied my previous mini's setup onto the new mini, I lost all of the newer pre-installed apps... and it didn't come with a backup system's disk... Is there a way to re-accuire those originally supplied apps, without having to buy them again?
I had been using Mavericks on my old mini, and the new one wasn't running that version of OS X, so I restored from my backup to get back where I had been before the old mini died and I bought the newer mini... I didn't miss anything until I was going to help a friend, and they were asking questions about the pre-installed Apple apps... Numbers specifically... and I realized that I most likely had had this apps on my new machine, and had blown them all away when I restored the new mini to what the old mini had been running.... It's not the end of the world... I just got to thinking that there might be an Apple archive somewhere that would act like resource for repairing messed up apps supplied on new machines... In the old days.... you'd have received a disk along with the new computer to do that soft of thing.... No??

when i install osx lion on my mac it installs perfectly until it has to restart i get a do not enter sign then i am forced into installing snow leopard please help
you bought a computer iwth the smaller SSD and you could swap SSD out for 120GB or larger.
60GB is not going to provide enough storage for both Windows 7 and Lion.
Also, good to have some free overhead space for an SSD to manage its own 'garbage'

Using Mac OSX to instal software update on N73
Anybody know if it's poss to do this on a Mac without having to use a PC. the latest software for N73 is an .EXE file....

If owner of borrowed laptop does not want it cluttered up you don't have to install PC Suite, as if Nokia Software Updater is installed it downloads and install PC Connectivity Solutions at the same time.

I am wondering how I could burn a DVD that works on standalone DVD players out of iMovie since iDVD has been banished from Macs with pre-installed OS X 10.7 Lion.
When I try to export iMovie projects to iDVD the machine naturally cannot find the program. How is the workaround instead?

Is there a way to may a recovery disc??You can use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy everything from the working eMac onto the non-working eMac while the working eMac is running. If your eMac will still do target mode into the working one, you can download the above software, select the booted drive as the source drive, and your eMac's drive as the target, however it is possible this will not work.
When you say your eMac crashed, what exactly happened? It is possible that the hard drive in your eMac failed or is failing, so in order to get it running again you would need to replace the hard drive. On the eMac, this repair is somewhat involved, and you have to be very careful because it exposes the CRT, which has several areas which can be extremely dangerous to touch if not properly handled. CRTs retain a great deal of voltage, even when unplugged, sometimes for weeks, and they can give you a nasty shock if you touch them in the wrong place.
Also keep in mind that cloning from the working computer to the non-working computer will ERASE any data that you have stored on that eMac, so if you don't have it backed up anywhere, you may want to attempt that with target mode before proceeding.

Pre install apps are deleted after recovering mac osx lion

I am new to apple product, i just got my new MacBook Pro late 2011 about 2 months ago, and recently my laptop getting slow so i decided to use mac osx lion recovery, and yesterday i do it, i reninstalled as their was brief description about how to reinstall the refresh copy of macosx lion
now all the pre installed apps like iphoto, imovie, GrageBand, etc. are not in lauch pad, perhaps deleted, please some help me i want them back, how can get it back

How do I re-install my Mac OSX Server from scratch
Hi,
I have purchased two MacMini Servers with 10.6 OSX Server software pre-installed.
I have changed the organization as our company name changed and run into license issues.
I want to re-install the Mac OSX Server software and start from scratch. How do I go about this. I tried yesterday for many hours to do so and the new installs are still running into duplicate license issues and other issues. What is the best approach to do re-install? I am willing to erase the internal Hard Disk and boot (with an external DVD optical drive) if that is the best way to go. What are the steps?
I have the original CDs or DVDs and have extra, external hard disks to do a Time Machine backup, etc.

DonIf you are looking to do a nuke and pave of the system, and you have an external optical drive, then yes, that is likely the most direct method. Connect the optical drive, insert the installation DVD, and reboot the system targeting the optical disk as the boot volume (you can do this by holding down the C key or the Option key during startup).
Now, if you do not have an optical drive, you can put the installation disk into another Mac running 10.6 and use the Remote Install Mac OS X application in your Utilities folder.

I had iLife pre-installed on my aluminium Macbook 2009 with OSX Leopard on it. My hard drive broke but got most of the info off it and just installed snow Leopard on to a new drive and then downloaded and installed Mountain Lion over it. Now I don't have iLife anymore. How do I get it back?

Mac OS X doesn't come with iLife applications, so you have to install them manually after installing Mac OS X.
Insert the Applications disc or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 DVD and install iLfe applications. Then, open > Software Update, and install the latest update. If you want, you can purchase iMovie, GarageBand and iPhoto in the App Store, so you will get the most recent version -
Tuxera Version That Comes with HDTC705XK3A1 Does Not Support on Install on MAC OSX 10.9.2
The Tuxera version pre-installed (2012.3.6) on my hard drive does not support Mac OS X 10.9.2
I first looked at the support site and it says there isn't any updates for drivers & software for the Toshiba 500GB Canvio Connect Portable Hard Drive (HDTC705XK3A).
I am on OSX 10.9.2 and would like a working copy of Tuxera to use with my new Toshiba drive. Please advise where I get the updated version. Going to Tuxera requires buying a copy of the software.

DougI have the same problem after an upgrade to my iMac. Fortunitely, a wWindows machine will read your drive. I also have a new Macbook Pro with 10.9.3 on it and it loaded Tuxera correctly. Not sure why it works on one not the other. I wnet through the following steps:
After I upgraded my iMAC to Maverics, I could not see my NTFS drives in finder or on the desktop. I could see my NTFS drives in Disk Utility but they were grayed out and are not accessible. I could boot the iMac in Windows and have access to all of my NTFS drives.
I tried reinstalling the latest version, 2013.2, downloaded from your web page. I can see my NTFS drives but could not write to them. I then got the following message when the system started up, "invalid product key". When I opened Tuxera from the system preferences page I get the following message on the Activation page, "Current status: Invalid product key. Limited performance mode." I have tried reloading Texura from the Toshiba drive, but the process doesn't complete the last step.
As a last step, I uninstalled Tuxera and can not reinstall it. I get the message "The Tuxera NTFS for Mac installer could not detect your Toshiba External HDD. Please attach it to your Mac and run the installer again. I'm running the installer from the Toshiba drive so the installer should detect it.
Please note, I have a new Macbook Pro that came with Mavericks and I loaded Tuxera from the same Toshiba drive. It has no problems writing to it. The upgrade to Mavericks caused the problem. -
CC Bridge will not install on Mac OSX 10.6.8
Bridge was working a few days ago, then when trying to launch was getting the Mac OS crash report box.
Checked for an update via the Adobe App Manager and there was an update, still not working. So did an remove/re-install using the Bridge Uninstaller, still no good.
So visited this page Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC
but after following the instructions there were no errors or fatal's!
anyone having the same problem?

Bought MA607LL/A Intel 1.66 2006 mac mini ubuntu pre install have question
Hey guys. I bought this model and comes with usb pre installed to drive. Doesn't have OSX. My question is I have a net book with 320gb and that is esata so I'm going to install in the mac. Now can I put the 60 gb hard drive that came with mac mini into a usb enclosure and when i feel like go into well i think need to push option? Go through that then boot up the external drive that has ubuntu when i feel like using ubuntu? I run ubuntu on main computer and so would like to use mac os on mac mini and ubuntu. Ty

Yes, normally holding alt key or option key will show your boot choices, but some Linux distros need a boot manager installed.
