Mac requires password immediately even when set to "after 4 hours"

I tried to restart the computer but it's still like this. I use OS X 10.9.1. Any help is welcomed, thank you!

I have the same issue and there is an entire thread dedicated to slow wake up issue, except most of those folks dont even realize that it is realted to the password.

After TC is set up, will my Mac be backed up even when it is on another wifi network?

Probably not.. but I cannot say for sure. It depends how the networks are linked.. which you haven't explained.
Anyway you can always find out by simply opening finder and seeing if the TC is available. If not you cannot back up to it.
Explain the setup a bit more and we can probably help a bit more.

Does the username and password you try to use have administrator privileges? You must input an admin username and password to install.

Hi, in our Enterprise environment, we have a single mac with Mavericks version 10.9.2 and Office for Mac 14.4.1. When setting up outlook, we are trying to connect to a mailbox on exchange server 2007. We put in the EWS details in the server field since our autodiscover function is not functioning. But still it doesn't work. There are no errors, no popups. We turned on the logging and in the logs, it says a error of -3259. We are stuck and any help will be really appreciated.

I have a customer experiencing exactly the same issue. Their computer is running Windows 7 Pro with Office 2007 SP3. After seemingly exhausting all troubleshooting options, I backed up their data, formatted the hard drive and performed a clean install of
Windows and all their applications. It didn't solve the problem!
What's strange is the customer also has a laptop computer, running the same version of Outlook, and that doesn't experience any problems connecting to Office 365 on the same network.
My next step is to send the customer a new ADSL modem/router to try.
I have another customer on Office 365, also running Outlook 2007, and they also experience issues with emails sitting in the outbox while Outlook displays the status message “Outlook is trying to retrieve data from the Microsoft exchange server outlook.office365.com.”
In this case Outlook doesn't freeze/stop responding, like it does for the first customer I mentioned.

  • IPod continuously flashes "Do not Disconnect" even when set to automatic.

iPod continuously flashes "Do not Disconnect" even though iTunes says "Update is Complete" and even when set to automatic update. It mounts both in iTunes and on the Desktop.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I have alredy tried rebooting both the iPod and computer.
    Thanks.

    Patrick,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Sounds like you've got Disk Use enabled. Try unchecking the Box "Enable Disk Use" under iTunes>Preferences>iPod Tab.

  • Mac goes to sleep even when streaming to Apple TV?!

    Hello everyone,
I just recently bought the Apple TV (3rd gen) to compliment my rMBP and am loving it.
I keep iTunes open with my Mac on, especially when I know I'm going to be streaming. However, my Mac seems to doze off half way through streaming a TV show, or a movie (usually something with a long play time). Macs have always just connected and "worked" for me so it seems strange that the ATV wouldn't just wake my Mac when I select Home Sharing.
If the show stops playing, sometimes if I go back and select Home Sharing again it will wake my Mac.. but often I get this message:
"Turn On Home Sharing in iTunes
To access your iTunes library on Apple TV, turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer using <email>."
My Mac's energy savings are set to sleep after 1  hour, it's always plugged in. iTunes is always open. Do I have to set energy savings to 'always on' if I want it to serve the ATV whenever In want? I thought the ATV would be clever enough to wake the Mac when it wants something, which would save a lot of energy - and as I said it does work on occasion. As I have a connected USB hard drive I'm trying to do it this way instead of having an always-on NAS.
I should probably add that I'm using an AirPort Extreme with the correct firmware required to have the whole wake-over-wifi stuff.
    Advice please :o)

seems to be a bug. What I have done is set my computer to necer sleep and the display to sleep after 3 mins
This way the Apple TV works but I do not have a bright Computer system shining at me while I am watching TV

Please do not duplicate a thread. The threads are answered as soon as possible. We are not Adobe. Just user to user.
I have answered your most recent of the duplicates
Premier Elements 13 Organizer Works. Editor doesn't. Log in doesn't work
It is uncertain just how far we can go to help you since you do not appear to have Premiere Elements any
longer.Seems you demanded a refund from Adobe Chat, got it, and now are left with a non purchased program which I
am not sure can be used.
Duplicates tend to confuse the person asking the question as well as those attempting to reply. As I suggested in the
above mentioned thread, try to sort out your situation with Adobe via its Adobe Chat.

  • HT201303 I get a box to enter my password.  Even when I enter the new password I just created, it still pops and asks again.  I now cannot download a movie I bought for some unknown error reason.

I keep getting a message telling me to enter my password.  Even after I change the password, it is asking me for it again and again.  Now, my movies that I purchased are not downloading due to some unknown error.

Each time you login, the iTunes Store asks you for your Apple ID and password but it shouldn't be prompting you to change your password. I am guessing that this error lies with the iTunes in your computer. Try uninstalling the iTunes app and reinstall the latest version:
    http://www.itunes.com/download
Just in case you haven't done this yet, I would suggest connecting to a different network or try signing in to your account using another computer or device. This is to isolate which exactly is causing the error
If the same issue occurred after attempting to sign in using a different computer or a device, please try resetting your password again via iForgot website: http://iforgot.apple.com
If you were able to sign into your account using a different computer or a device, or if reinstalling iTunes app didn't help, it means that the issue is within your computer. In this case, you will need to contact Apple Technical Support for more intensive troubleshooting. You may check this link for their phone #: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57

  • I turned on the passcode lock to come on in 1 hour.  It doesn't seem to be working.  I thought that this would make the Ipad 2 IOS 7 require me to type in a code after 1 hour.  Is my thinking not right on this?

As stated I turned on my passcode lock to come on after 1 hour of operation.  It doesn't work like I thought it would.  My thoughts were that it would go to the lock screen and then require a code.  Is my thinking not right on this?  What am i doing wrong?

The passcode will be requested after the device has been in sleep mode for one hour.  It does not turn off the device, nor is it a usage timer.

  • Does the computer lock me after a certain amount of failed password attmepts, even when i finally have the correct password? recently changed root account password, but then forgot today and when tried again didn't work.  if so, how long does lock last?

Ok. So I just changed my ADMINISTRATIVE ROOT PASSWORD the other day and when I tried to log in today I forgot it.  I tried different variations of
the password I had set, because I wasn't sure if i had maybe set it in Caps Lock or used a different number in the sequence.  I got the message several times
about "too many attempts, try again later".  Does the computer lock me from signing in even with the correct password after a certain amount of failed
attempts?  If so, how long does this lock last for?  When can I try again?  Or is there something I need to do to remove that lock now?  I'm pretty sure I
had the right password finally but it still wouldn't accept it.
Also, I don't have any other administrative users set up on my macbook pro.  I'm the only one who uses it, so I've always just used that original User from my
    original setup.

    Do this:
    1. Reboot
    2. Hold apple key + s key down after you hear the chime. (command + s on newer Macs)
    3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
    (Type these commands very carefully)
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -h now
    4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can change the passord on the old one.

  • PDFs Requiring Password to Open When That Option is NOT Configured

    TSPAM:
Problem: PDFs that were created WITHOUT a password required to open are asking for passwords before they will open.
Expected Result: PDFs should open without asking for an open password unless they were configured to require a password to open.
Analysis: PDFs were created via export from InDesign CS6 to PDF Version 1.7 (Adobre PDF Library 10.0.1). Document restrictions were defined as, Allowed: Printing, Content Copying for Accessibility, Commenting, Filling in Form Fields, Signing, Creation of Template Pages; other abilities Not Allowed. Restrictions use password security. Require a password to open is NOT set active.
Once posted online, several users report that the PDFs are requiring a password to open.
I can't duplicate that behavior--meaning that I'm never prompted for an open password--in Acrobat X or XI on Windows 7x64 or Mac OS 10.8x or in Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari on those systems.
The PDFs in question are linked from this page: http://iampariah.com/blog/creative-pro/cs6-keyboard-shortcut-cheatsheets.php

    Hi Pariah,
There are two things here, 1) what is the version of the unencrypted PDF, and 2) how was the file encrypted.
The "may not display correctly" message occurs when the version of the PDF file is greater than what the PDF viewer (for us that's either Acrobat or Reader) understands. As an example, when Acrobat 1.0 came out 20 years ago it only understood PDF version 1.0. When Acrobat 2.0 was released it understood PDF version 1.1 and earlier. By Acrobat 8 it understood PDF version 1.7. If you had a PDF file that was version 1.7 and you opened it in Acrobat 7 (which I'm sure you've figured out only understands PDF v 1.6) then you'd get the "may not display correctly" message. Acrobat 7 would do its best to render the PDF, but if it came across something it just didn't understand it wouldn't (couldn't) display it.
Encryption is a bit different. Let's say you encrypt a file using Acrobat 10 and use the AES 256-bit encryption algorithm. If someone where to try and open the file in version 8, which only understands AES 128-bit encryption the the file could never be opened.
Finally there is the issue about how the password is saved. Acrobat 10 and later use a different methods of Unicode normalization and canonicalization then previous version, so if you've save a password using the Acrobat 10 or later settings then earlier versions cannot properly check that the password you've typed in matches what the document author set. I know this message thread started with the notion that there is no Document Open password, but it's not quite that simple. There really is a password, its just set to "NULL". However, Acrobat (and Reader) versions 9 and earlier cannot reconcile "NULL" set in 10 as they would "NULL" set in 9 and before. Thus, when the file tries to open in an earlier version you get prompted to reenter the password.

  • C7 - WLAN Connecting automatically, even when set ...

Hi, my C7 always connects to the home WLAN even it is set to "Manual" and not switch to known WLANs..... I tried turning the widgets offline too.... but it always connects to the WLAN after a few seconds.
This is annoying because when I want to use Joikuspot I have to be really fast to launch it before it connects and blocks the WLAN interface for joiku....

I faced similar issues when using the built-in nokia web bowser and there are a couple of solutions you can try:
    1) when changing between wifi hotspots
         * make sure your access point is defined for that hotspot:
           menu>web (activate built-in browser)>options >settings>general>access point>options>
select access point>select your wifi access point.
*how to add modify access point:
          menu>settings>connectivity>settings>destinations>you can add/modify here
the access poitn you selected should correspond to your wifi hotspot.
    2) if you have saved bookmarks in the built-in web browser, the last access point you used
is probably saved as default, I always encounter this when I start yahoo.
Here is what I did when I encountered it in yahoo:
menu>web (built in browser)>your bookmark (e.g. yahoo) [press slightly longer, until you see the circular arrow and then a submenu]>edit>modify the access point corresponding to
your hotspot (you will see the previously saved access point).
    3) If the 2 above options will only make it more troublesome for you, please download another
         browser such as Opera Mobile

  • Ipod classic 5G backlight turns off when in dock even when set to 'always on'-any ideas?

I have just inherited an Ipod classic 5G from my son. It all works fine except when I put it into my Ruark audio dock when the backlight then switches off and so I cannot see the tracks. I have it set to backlight always on. I have tried waking it up but it still stays dark. It is fine if I use it with the jack connection on all my other systems. Is this a common problem or am i doing something wrong or can it be got round?? This is my first attempt with an ipod so I am a bit of a novice!

Thanks brody, I do have that option checked. I was just wondering if there was some way via command line or something that things could be modified so that the Mac never turns the NIC off at all, or never tells it to enter into "low power" state.
The more I read, the more I realize this may not be possible.
