Mackeeper crashed my computer, help
My friend recently was tricked into installing Mackeeper. He put in his password and username to his mac and followed its instructions to installation. After, he purportedly had no problem with Mackeeper; however, on rebooting his computer, he now is stuck on a gray screen that eventually flashes a folder with a ? on it. I've come in to help him. I have tried to hold down OPTION on booting to access the system management, but the only result I'm having with that is eventually the mouse cursor will show up, and nothing else (i've held down OPTION for at least 5 minutes). Secondly, I tried Command-R; nothing. Shift, for safe mode-- nothing.
What to do? I haven't read any account of Mackeeper totally wiping out an individual's hard drive. Can I access or backup somehow my old files? There are many, many important things on the Mac that I just cannot afford to lose.
I appreciate any help; in the mean time, I'm still googling for answers.
Take the machine to a local PC/Mac software repair place, tell them what happened and you need data recovery performed and the system restored.
You can opt to wade through all this I wrote, but it's going to take time and you can't afford to make a mistake, your rather early in the self repair of Mac's stage still.

Flash player crashes my computer when used . . . please help!
the newest versions of flash player required for use in you tube and hulu crash my computer and causes it to reboot. I'm using windows xp home edition 32 bit, have updated my drivers, and have tried to use several different versions of the flash player 10( installing the other versions first), as well as trying to use it in internet explorer 8, firefox 5, and google chrome. The computer does not crash unless the flash player is in use. I have tried everything I can think of, to no avail. This problem did not happen UNTIL I was forced to udate the flash player to the latest version in order to watch Hulu and you tube due to their requirements. PLEASE HELP!

Since I downloading the new FireFox, it crashes every hour or so, then will keep crashing when I try restart it. Only restarting my computer helps, but then it will crash again. 90% of the time, when sending crash report(s), a mesage that there was a problem sending it appears. Please fix the problem and/or tell me what I can do.

Quicklook helper crashes my computer ever since I updated to 10.10.3
ever since I updated to 10.10.3, when i select a file in finder(while in column view) the Quicklook(or preview function to see what the file looks like) crashes my computer(panic shutdown) SI their a fix to this?
The combo updater includes all the past updates. If something wasn't quite right then the combo updater may fix it. Then sometimes it because the first update did not work properly. The second one fixes that. There are no other differences.

My MuVo Micro Crashes My Computer and Locks Up - HELP
I just got a Creative 52MB MuVo? Micro N200 for christmas. I just learned how to rip tracks from a CD and transfer it into the player. However, I tried this twice and both times it totally crashed my computer (total lock up in blue screen saying it couldn't write to the dri've for my player - had to turn off the power to turn off the computer) and locked up the player. Both times, I was transferring several (about 5) songs at one time. It it said that all the songs were complete except the last one. Then it kind of hung up. It wouldn't even let me eject the dri've because it said it was still transferring files. Then the computer crashed. Afterward, the player wouldn't even turn on. I had to take the battery out and put it back it in. The songs I had transferred made it into the player okay.
My computer is about 3-4 years old. It is an HP Pavilion with a celeron processor and I upgraded the RAM to 320 MBs. I am connecting to the player through a USB hub. I run the ZoneAlarm firewall and the AVG anti-virus program and I keep both up to date. Another weird thing that happens is that every time I connect the player to the computer, my webshots (a free screensaver and wallpaper picture program) program organizer starts up.
Does anyone have any ideas for how to fix this?ME is the worst!
With installing my zen xtra software it completely deleted my registry..... I install it on my xp comp, it works fine..... the only problem is that all my music is on my ME comp..... im not going to split the files and put all of them on floppys..... i have AVG too..... I wonder if it causes it!
I hate Windows ME..... it was even deemed the worst OS ever by tech tv!
It could be the firmware, even the media player drivers..... I cant test the media player idea, as soon as i install it it kills my computer..... but i installed new firmware and it stopped freezing ( The zen xtra ) -

Did you recently upgrade Flash from 12 to 13?<br>
There have been issues reported with the 13.0.0.182 version of the Flash plugin crashing on some older Mac computers due to the compiler generating incompatible code.
The only way to recover is to uninstall the Flash 13 version and revert to an older Flash version and wait for Adobe to release an update that addresses this issue.

ITunes is crashing my computer
Hi, I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with my problem. My laptop crashes everytime I open iTunes. Once iTunes load, my computer starts to lag pretty bad until it totally crashes. The only thing I could do is to hold my laptop's power button until it completely shuts down. I'm using a Vaio VPCEA12EG, running on Windows 7 Home Basic 64-Bit.
iTunes used to work just fine on my laptop. I just started to notice this problem when I played an mp3 song one day, prompting it to load on iTunes, thus crashing my computer. Once it crashed, I thought that maybe it was just an isolated case since it was just the first time it happened. Then, a few days later, I plugged in my sister's iPod shuffle. It then crashed my computer again for loading iTunes. My sister was resquesting for me to load songs on her iPod so I was forced to keep trying, and much to my surprise, iTunes kept on crashing my computer.
I tried uninstalling iTunes (trying uninstall-install method), but it also ends up crashing my laptop. It just gets stuck on "Configuring iTunes. 31 seconds remaining." So basically, I CAN'T uninstall iTunes from my system. I'm planning to get an iPhone 4 soon and I can't afford not to be able to use iTunes on my own laptop.
Here's a summarized background of my problem:
1. iTunes used to work on my laptop.
2. One day, it just stopped working. iTunes crashes my computer everytime I try to use it:
*When I double-click/open the program.
*When I sync an Apple product.
*When I open a music file with iTunes.
3. The only thing I could do after iTunes crashes my computer is to hold the power button until my computer completely shuts off.
4. I tried uninstalling it, but it ALSO crashes my computer. Bottomline, I couldn't remove iTunes from my computer.
Has anyone encountered a similar problem? I hope someone can help me with this problem. I'm at my wits end as I can't even uninstall iTunes from my system. But the catch is that it always crash the computer, right? What worked for me is that I LEFT THE COMPUTER ALONE UNTIL IT FINISHED THE UNINSTALLING.

The important thing is that you should leave your computer alone until it finishes each process. For example, when you click uninstall, just leave your computer alone until it finishes! As in DO NOT USE YOUR COMPUTER FOR ANYTHING. Do not use it to surf the net, do not use it to play solitaire, do not even move your mouse! It will take a LONG time. I actually left my computer overnight. When I woke up, I saw that it was able to uninstall iTunes! If you use your computer while you are uninstalling iTunes, your computer will most likely crash. I suggest that you do this at night when you absolutely don't need to use your computer for anything.
Anyway, this is what worked for me. I hope it will also work on your computer. Good luck! -
I Tunes crashes my computer each time I open it
I Tunes crashes my computer due to operation called Determining Gapless Playback. It gets to the same place and then stops everything so I can't use my computer unless I shutdown the computer by holding down the on/off button.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this and are able to help me?????

If I understand correctly, you can open the file one on computer (running Windows 8), but not on another? If so, what operating system (and version of Reader) are you using on that other computer?
Do you get an error when you try to open PDF files in Reader, or does Reader crash? Does the problem occur with just one PDF file, or with any that you try to open?
For starters, you may just want to reinstall Reader on the computer where you're having trouble.

Epson printer software update 2.11 crashing my computer!

Thanks in advance for the help. I have been trying for a few days to download and install the latest software update called "epson printer software update 2.11"
It will not finish installing and ends up crashing my computer. I have OS 10.7.4.
Additionally my Epson Stylus NX420 will not print from my computer. I get an unknown error message. The printer does work however. I can make copies and scan. The Network diagnostics from the printer states that there are no issues.
Any ideas?I had the same problem and after untold hours working with Apple & Epson we got to the problem with the Apple software update 2.14. I was told I had to decide if I wanted my 9900 to work or my office printer (Workforce 610) to work. I was incredulous that I would be forced to make this choice but of course chose to get my 9900 back up and running. This fix was given to me 3 weeks ago tomorrow and we still no resolution from Apple / Epson? Are you kidding me? I am considering throwing my Epson 610 in the trash and buying another brand of office printer so I will have no conflict with my 9900. Seems like a pretty stupid solution I must admit.
I called Epson back again on Friday and got a horrible run-around. The guy from the Pro Graphics group (techs for the professional series printers) insisited I needed to talk to the consumer printers group. Once I got to them it was clear they had no clue about this issue. I left the phone totally frustrated and angry. I ended up emailing a very capable guy from the Pro Graphics group I had worked with 3 weeks ago and he was nice enough to reply. The answer however was there is still no fix to the Apple update. At t his point I am not sure how to know if the update has been fixed. The message I get from Epson is just keep checking back. The problem is that it seems few at Epson are aware of the problem so you have to go through a long explanation only to hope you find someone that is aware.
Nothing like running a printing company and telling your customers you cannot print their invoice because your printer doesn't work! Thanks Apple for the quick fix on this! -
Itunes video crashes my computer
I recently purchased a video iPod (my photo iPod broke) and updated my iTunes software. Now, every time I try to open the video page in iTunes, it crashes my computer. Either the computer freezes and I have to reboot or it goes blue screen and reboots itself. Per Apple customer service request, I have uninstalled iTunes, turned off my anti-virus software, reinstalled, but had the same problem. I've even gone through the whole msconfig window getting rid of unused startup processes. Nothing seems to work.

i can't recall seeing that error code showing up here before. so we don't have a simple list of things to check through (based on my experience here). MS doesn't have any documentation on specific XP-related causes of the 0x000000F4, but we know from this MS document that you've got a problem related to a system process:

... so if you're still keen on continuing our investigations, we might be able to get some more info about which process is in pain by checking the event logs. (this might help with giving us a shorter list of possibilities.)
right-click "My Computer", select "Manage" and click "Event Viewer". let's look through the Application and System logs for error/warning events that are regularly coinciding with the 0x000000F4s.
if you find candidate types of event, click on an example of each to bring up a small window. note down the Source, Event ID and Description of the process, and post back with your findings.

Adobe products now crash my computer.
At first, all the CC downloads worked fine. Then about a week ago, I started crashing if I used Acrobat (mainly by trying to look at PDFs.) Now if I open any Adobe program, like Dreamweaver or Photoshop, it will crash my computer as well. I've gone back to an earlier system restore, I tried an earlier Acrobat version, I've wiped all Adobe installs and CC cleaned it, I've reinstalled, same problem. (Crashing in this case means the blue screen of death.) This is a major problem so I'm hoping someone here has a solution.

Adobe Updates Crashing my computer
I have a brand new computer with Windows 7, It has 'frozen" at least a half a dozen times!!! The screen freezes, I get a spinning ring and can't do nothing, when I try ctrl+F4 or F2 the desktop and open windows turn milky white.
This problem ALWAYS happens when I am online and I get a notice to update Adobe.
Is there anyway in hell, that I can put these update reminders in some sort of cue? Why do they freeze and crash my computer (the only thing I can do is unplug the computer, which has got to stop. Do I need to drop or quite Adobe?
Please help!!!!You might want to give some specifics. Other then my computer crashes with Adobe....Not to be a S.A but there are a lot of different Adobe programs and computers. You mention FF so Windows would be my guess, or you could be running Linux. Do you see the variables here? What kind of computer? Not a Desktop or Laptop or Dell or HP. Specs like GPU, CPU, Memory. Program running, what you were doing, etc. The more detailed you are the more a user can hop in and try and help you.

Notice the dates and OS versions on each of the crashes, which is very odd.
I also have a report in the console of mdimportserver crashing again, but nothing was written to the log file.

Message was edited by: ZuzubotI tried reapplying the Combo update as suggested, but that didn't help.
In my case this started AFTER cloning a new hard disk for use as startup. Seems like something could have corrupted in the process, maybe in that fonts folder, but hard to tell as yet.
So I've turned of indexing for the Fonts folder for my Fonts Utility, FontAgent, and it appears to have stopped crashing, but indexing not yet complete. And FontAgent has been stable for years before this cloning process.
Anyone else have any suggestions? Tried DiskWarrior, Permissions, clearing caches, nothing stops the 10 second crashes once they start, except turning indexing off. (And now turning ONLY that FontAgent fonts folder off).
My crash dialogs say the same EXCBADACCESS stuff with a different address, and then:

Itunes 7.0 crashed my computer
Hi, since I installed the new version of itunes on my computer, each time I open the itunes store, it crashes my computer and then restarts it. It is a low memory issue? I tried to re-download the old version, but since I have installed the most recent one, I can't.
Start by providing specifics of what is occurring (including any error messages that are occurring) when attempting to restore the device. That is if help is actually desired.

Flash Player keeps crashing my computer
I got an auto update of Flash Player 10.3.183.7. Right after this update when i went to a site running flash the page would freeze, and i couldn't do anything
because everything was froze. After about 30 seconds i get the blue screen it says flash player plugin container is the cause. It dose this on any page running flash. I uninstalled and reinstalled, that did not help at all. I turned the hardware accelerator to none, like i read in adobe forum, this didn't help ether.
I tried to go back to the version before this, but when i go to a site with flash, it says i need the most current version of flash player. a few times it froze i was able to open the task manager and the flash player plug-in container was maxing out the CPU, and the memory.
I have a AMD Phenom II X4 quad core 3.5 GHz, and 8GB memory, windows XP SP3, Nivida GeForce 260GTX OC HD video card. I'm using Firefox 6.0.1
This also happens when i use Internet Explorer 8.0.6 I first thought this was a browser problem i was using Firefox 3.6.18
I currently have Flash Player uninstalled. So How do I stop this from crashing my computer?I'm also having problems with Flash Player version 10.3.183.7, in the past day or so. Also using Firefox 6.0.2, though I've since tried this with the Standalone Player, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. I'm using Windows XP 32-bit. I also tried downloading archived flash player versions (9 and 10.1) and they had similar problems.
Most flash applications will cause the browser to lock up, sometimes temporarily and sometimes permanenely (having to close it through the Windows Task Manager). In the case where the browser does not permanently lock up, the flash application stops playing within the first 2-3 frames.
