  • Thinkvision Pro2840m flickering at 3840x2160 60Hz

I have just installed a Pro2840m display on a brand-new Dell T5810 workstation (with AMD W5100 graphics card), and the Pro2840 display flickers really badly when setting to the resolution recommended by Windows (3840x2160 @ 60Hz).
The flicker goes away if I reduce the refresh rate to 30Hz.
The monitor is running microcode TN3.01.  Windows drivers are up to date (AMD 14.301.1010), and system is running Windows 8.1, with 8GB memory
    Any ideas?

Hello and welcome to the Lenovo community. Out of experience I would suggest you connect only the (or one) Pro2840m to your W5100 using the supplied DP cable (by Lenovo) to test whether the fault is with the Lenovo. Obviously don't forget to be running the latest ISV certified drivers published for the particular software you are planning to use found here.
As a side note: I wonder when was your display purchased, because microcode LN3.01 was the very first version these displays were shipped with in June 2014. The latest version which I have heard of for the Pro2840m was at LN3.07 which has addressed a list of serious issues (see here or here for examples). Sadly firmwares for these displays are not released to public, for upgrading your firmware you will have to contact Lenovo support and request an RMA.
Don't forget to post back your findings so we all can benefit.

No. You need a converter box like this to go with your MDP-VGA adapter:

  • HT5019 MacPro laptop display and 2 external monitors (three displays). Can I have more than one application displayed at a time?

I would like to have my MacPro laptop display and 2 external monitors (three displays). Question, how can I have more than one application displayed at a time? IE: I would like email on one monitor, Finder on my laptop, and iTunes on the other. Possible?
With extended desktop, it appears that I can only have one application presenting at a time. Sort of defeats the purpose of having multiple displays.
I am using the HDMI and the mini HDMI connectors.

I found that the Thunderbolt input accepts the mini-DVI (in my case converter to VGA for a tutorial use monitor)
BUT, you have to really oush it in 'til it clicks.  I thought it too loose until I tried it.  works just fine!!

  • Is the Apple Digital AV Adapter  and the Apple VGA Adapter the same thing

is the Apple Digital AV Adapter  and the Apple VGA Adapter the same thing i want to get a ipad and i want to no if there the same thing before i buy it i would want it for the web for pic but for videos too

VGA is an analog signal, while HDMI is an uncompressed digital image.
The uncompressed digital image is more superior.

The article you cited refers to The Mac Pro, a 50lb silver tower -- not a notebook computer.
    Everymac.com says:
    2nd Display Support:
    Dual/Mirroring*
    2nd Max. Resolution:
    2560x1600 (x2*)
    Details:
*This model supports a simultaneous maximum resolution up to 2560x1600 on two external displays via Thunderbolt. Alternately, it can support a single display up to 2560x1600 via Thunderbolt and a single display up to 1920x1200 via HDMI. Although it can theoretically power all three external displays, as confirmed by a helpful reader, it runs too hot with three displays connected.
Also see: How many external displays can the Retina Display MacBook Pro models support? What is the maximum supported resolution of each? Are adapters required?
When using other than ThunderBolt displays, the ThunderBolt port is directly compatible with Mini DisplayPort, and can be forced into compatibility (with Single-Link DVI or HDMI up to 1920 wide) with a simple adapter.
To adapt to wider displays, an ACTIVE Dual-Link adapter is needed, about US$100.

  • TS3999 How do you get info entered into iCal and Contacts on an equipped iPhone to push back to an equipped MacPro? so far it's only a one way street Macpro to phone, and that's not what I was told it would be.

    Hi, all.
How do you get information entered into iCal and Contacts on an equipped iPhone to push to an equipped MacPro? So far it's been a one way street Macpro to phone, and that's not what I was told it would be. I've been through all settings on both devices and see no way to do this. Help! If I synch the old fashioned way, what's going to happen?

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.
First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • I have a MacPro from 2007 and am wondering if there is any way I can upgrade to Mountain Lion.

I have a MacPro from 2007 and am wondering if there is any way I can upgrade to Mountain Lion. I get a message that it can't be upgraded even though I have downloaded it.

Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) model number 7,1 or higher
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) model number 5,1 or higher
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) model number 2,1 or higher
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Xserve (Early 2009) model number 3,1 or higher
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
What gumsie posted is correct - if it is't compatible, normally it won't download.

  • Why Can't I view purchased movies on my Tv using iPad mini and lighting to VGA adoptor

Why Can't I view purchased movies on my Tv using iPad mini and lighting to VGA adoptor

There's an issue currently that a lot of us are experiencing in that we all get the error message "iTunes is currently unavailable; please try later"
It's an issue with Apple and we're awaiting an update re this
I've posted a topic in regards to this after having a long conversation with Apple support this morning and will be receiving a call from their tech team tomorrow to run through it further
As it stands iTunes cannot be accessed via ATV's and nor can it be streamed via AirPlay from iTunes to the ATV
However I can access all films/iCloud content via my Mac Mini with no issues!

  • Linksys E2500 - Is the AC Adaptor multi voltage meaning Input 110V-240V and 50/60Hz

I'm considering buying the Linksys E2500 and intend to use it later also outside of the USA so could someone be kind enough to tell me whether the AC Adaptor that comes with the Linksys E2500 accepts multi voltages, ie Input 110V-240V and 50/60Hz.
Could a kind soul please look at your AC Adaptor for the E2500 and see if it says that it accepts 110V-240V ?
Also, could you please also indicate the Output :
A picture of the label of the AC adaptor would be very helpful if possible.
If the E2500 Ac Adaptor : Output is 12V 1.0A Max,
Then I could at least use the AC Adaptor for my old existing WRT160N. It's AC adaptor label says:
    Input 110V-240V, 0.5A,  50-60Hz
    Output : 12V 1.0A Max
There appears to be no such information on the Linksys website or at least I could not find it.
    Thank you.

Well that's weird. Based on what I have: my WRT54G has a 110V input that came with the box, my E1000 had 110-240V and 50/60Hz, E4200 had the same specs (different model but same specs, see picture on my previous post). My friend's E1200 had the exact same model so I'm assuming the E2500 will have the same power adapter. If you give me a couple more days, I'll test it myself with the E2500

Are the lines like psychedelic herringbone?  If yes, I had that happen once, it was something serious, like the
Logic board. The good news is that it was fixed without any loss of data on the hard drive. Take it in to have Apple look at it ASAP.  I took it to TekServe at the time, they are very nice about preserving your data and user library when possible.
    Good luck and don't panic.

  • Thinkpad T440p: Does Intel Graphics really support 3840x2160@60Hz via miniDisplayPort?

I am thinking of purchasing a Thinkpad T440p (i5-4200M, Intel integrated graphics, no NVidia) from a local retailer. My monitor is a Dell P2415Q (3840x2160@60Hz via DP) Will this combination work? • M6-n012dx HDMI out to 3840x2160 60hz?

I recently bought a new 4k television and trying to output the PC display as 3840x2160 at 60hz, but capped at 30hz. Is this a hardware limitation of the Intel 4600 chipset, or should I be able to output at 60hz? I can't seem to find if the HDMI port on this laptop supports HDMI 1.4 on any documentation.

    Hi  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY m6-n012dx Notebook and concerns with the limits of the HDMI v1.4 output. Here is a link to your manual page 3. Your Notebook supports HDMI v1.4 supporting up to 1920×1080 @ 60Hz. Hope this addresses your concerns. Thanks.

  • ADC to DVI and DVI to VGA on my G5

I have a G5 with an ATI 9600 video card that has both DVI and ADC outputs.  I cannot find am ADC to VGA adapter, but I was wondering if I could use and ADC to DVI adapter and then connect that to a DVI to VGA adapter and use a 2nd VGA monitor on my Mac.  Has anhyone tried this?
    Thanks!

ADC to DVI-D adapters pass digital, not analog. There is no way for DVI to VGA to receive analog from the ADC port.
