Mail and business email

I run a small business. And for my sins set up a Hotmail account. I send and receive quite a few business emails, and from time to time send group email to clients and prospects marketing my company. This has caused Microsoft to close my account, sonow I can not run my business!
Are there any such restrictions using mobileme as my email account?

No offense, but 1) It's clear from the sign up that Hotmail discourages mass emails and 2) What possessed you to run a business off a free email account? None are suitable for running a business from that I know of, and I have hotmail, gmail, and several others. The email account that I run hard is the one I pay for.
Plus, Hotmail has been down today.

Glad I'm not running my business of it. What are they going to do, refund our free signup? Don't mean to come off crass, lc, but really... : )

  • How do I ensure mail is sent from the correct email account?  I have two set up on my iPad, and it seems to choose which one to use somewhat randomly.  This has happened both when using Mail and when emailing form another app.

I have two email accounts set up on my iPad -- one I use & one I monitor for a disabled person.  On several occasions, mail I have composed and sent from my email account was sent showing the other account as the sender.  This has happened both from within Mail and when emailing from other apps, such as Safari, Photos, etc.  Any idea what is going on and how to prevent this from happening?

Are you confirming your POP account is selected as the sending email account before the message is sent?
And regardless if the email is a new email or is replying to or forwarding an email received by the POP account and cofirming the POP acconut is selected as the sending email account, the message is sent by the Gmail account?
All message sent by the POP account are sent by the Gmail account?
If so, delete the Gmail account from your iPad and test if a message sent with your POP account which will be the only email account available with the iPad's Mail app is recieved from your POP account/address.
If not, something else is wrong or on play that has nothing to do with the iPad.

Why I can't change on the settings ,I cloud ,advanced l, mail and then email address there I can't change ? Help please?

You can't change that address by design, but Apple allows you to create another two addresses and use instead they call those aliases and you can create and use those different for different people with the same account. Instructions here

another funny is my laptps works fine but on BT advice I went to settings mail and deleted an account then tried to raise a new mail account but using the correct password is upcomes with mail.nt.... not accepted BUT if i use an old password for the reset e mail account it accepts it and works a bit its all ipad problem and not laptop... any ideas????

  • Mail and BTinternet email

    Hi all,
I've scoured the net looking for a solution to this problem and i've tried everything.
Up until about a week ago, I was receiving email fine on my new Imac OSX 10.7.
I'm with BT Internet and when I set up my new mac I had some problems so I phoned the BT support.
They gave me some new settings which worked fine until about a week ago?
    Then when I tried to access my mail the activity monitor (in Mail) shows several frozen loops as it tries to;
Synchronizing with server; Traversing mailbox heirachy, communicating with server and fetching new mail.
I phoned BT again and after 40 minutes of swapping settings from the yahoo server to BTinternet server
the problem isn't resolved. The 'technician' suggested I googled the problem as they haven't recieved the proper settings from Apple yet??
I get the exclamation warning with my mail account and an error msg saying 'Cannot recieve mail from BTinternet on server 100'
    Things to note:
I've checked and re-checked all the settings in account options
My iPhone uses the same settings as were given to me by BT and I recieve mail perfectly on that. iPhone is running an older OS.
My old Imac using older mail settings (yahoo.com) receives emails fine from my BT account. Running OSX 10.5
(I'm aware that the emails are being removed from the server when I access my mail on this computer but I just tried once to check)
I tried adding a Gmail account to mail in my new Imac. Downloads emails perfectly.
So I can't work out if the problem lies with BT or Mail in OSX 10.7 or a combo of both.
Sorry for the long winded message, wanted to make it all clear...
    Yours hopefully...

  • Delete account in Mail AND its emails

I recently deleted an IMAP mail account in Mail. I had chosen the option to download emails to my computer so that I could view them offline. However, when I deleted the account in mail, all of my emails from that account are still on my computer. I know this because Spotlight still pulls up emails from that account, and in my Library folder, there are still .mbox directories for that account, with all the old emails.
Is this the default behavior of Mail? I would really like to wipe out all of those old emails because it is annoying to see them in Spotlight.

Where does Spotlight say these messages are? Do a search in the Spotlight menu that shows one of those messages and then choose Show All in Finder. Select the message in question in the window that opens. The path will be shown at the bottom of the window. What does it say?

  • Windows Live Mail and Verizon emails

I just purchased a new PC with Windows 7.  I want to get my Verizon email via Windows Live Mail.  I can receive emails, but I cannot send them.  Where do I find the outgoing email configuration settings in Windows 7?

You can find settings for any email client program by clicking the link below:

  • Open mail and every email downloads

every time i open mail on my desktop, every email in my entire system pops ups in a window. it just started doing this one day, random.

You need to create a new Account and enter the correct IMAP settings. Note: Apple enters User name in both receiving and sending as the first part of your email. Most accounts actually like you to enter the full email address. Apple also defaults to ports 25. 465, 587. If you know the default port, select custom and enter port. Most accounts require SSL but not all. Verify your IMAP settings with your provider.
You can select to disable the POP account until you are happy with your new IMAP account.
NOTE: when you delete a POP account in Mail it deletes all the messages in the Inbox. You need to move all the messages in the Inbox to a custom folder under "On My Mac" or select to Archive. Under Message in the Menu bar select Archive. Apple creates an Archive folder and moves the messages into this folder. Each account has it's own archive folder.

  • Using aol mail and receiving emails but not able to send.

After successfully using itouch very frustrated with new ipad2. Receiving emails fine but still trying to send emails. Not very computer lit but husband is!

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works.
This may be of some help as well.

Obviously make sure that all of the information has been entered correctly including your username and passwords and that you are using upper and lower case letters as you should be using in your password since it is case sensitive.

  • BT Mail and push email on iPhone

I have just been migrated to BT Mail from BT Yahoo. On both my iPhone 4s, running iOS7, and my iPad, the BT Mail does not give the option for push email, just fetch. Does BT Mail not support push email? I need my push email back - fetch, even every 15 mintes is not sufficient for my needs, and it a backward step. I want email pushed to my devices as soon as it hits the server. Can this be fixed? Also I have a problem with the BT website, when I log in with my email address and password it takes me from the BT.com website to BT Yahoo, which no longer contains my emails. Why is this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The new BTMail does not support push email.
If you have been migrated your emails are no longer on Yahoo's servers so they won't be there. You need to set up your BTID
Try using this link to log into your emails. If you have just been migrated it should take you through the migration process.

  • ICloud Mail and other Email Accounts

I searched the discussion and I couldn't find a solution to my problem so I am hoping that someone on here has found a way to fix this iCloud issue.
On my MobileMe account that I had before iCloud I had the mail set up to access all of my other Email accounts (6) in total. worked great never had a problem and I had one source for all of my Emails. I understand this is not the way iCloud works but here is my problem.
I migrated my MobileMe account to ICloud and for some reason it still kept accessing all of my other Email accounts and consolidating them in my ICloud mail. (no I do not have the other accounts set to forward to iCloud, iCloud was accessing them and downloading the messages.) Now about a week ago that all stopped. When I checked on the discussions here I realized that iCloud was not suppose to work with the other Email accounts but for some strange reason it did for a while. That is fine, I then setup all of my Email accounts on my iPhone, iPad and Mac as IMAP accounts and everything was working fine again.
Today for some unknown reason iCloud is accessing my accounts again and I just received hundreds of unread Emails (the last few days worth) from my other Email accounts. I understand there is no way to access your Email settings on iCloud but has anyone had a simialar problem, and if so how the heck do you get that link to the other Email accounts out of iCloud mail. I am considering just cancelling or deleting my iCloud account and setting up a new one if I can't find a way to fix this, it maybe my only option.

I'm having the same issue and it's driving me nuts.
For those who don't understand the question, here's the deal.  Prior to the unveiling of iCloud, MobileMe users had a feature available of pulling email from other, non-MobileMe pop accounts into their MobileMe inbox.  There was a setup screen under preferences within MobileMe that allowed you to specify the server, username, password, etc for non-MobileMe accounts.  Once set up, the incoming email from those account(s) would be delivered into your MobileMe inbox.  Forwarding did NOT need to be set up in the other accounts (in fact, if it was, you'd get everything twice).  Once set up, you could even color code incoming messages based on which account they were delivered from.
I personally set up three other email accounts this way as it was convienet to check all my email in one in box.  Nice.
So.... here's the issue.  When MobileMe migrated to iCloud, the FUNCTION described above migrated over too and REMAINED IN EFFECT, but the ability to MANAGE THE FUNCTION and modify the other accounts went away.  So, anyone who had other email accounts set up (like I have) is still receiving email from those accounts into our iCloud inboxes, but we have no ability to manage those other accounts.  If you want to stop the delivery of email from one or more of the other accounts, you can't.  If you want to adjust the settings of any of the other accounts, you can't.  If the username or password for one of the other accounts changes, then the delivery breaks and you can't fix it.  You can't influnce how this feature behaves at all because the settings interface has been taken away.
It's extrememly frustrating to have a "feature" active that you can't manage or turn off.
    Hey Apple... HELP!

  • How to reinstall Mail and itunes from Time Machine backup

My Mac Pro is running slow and AppleCare have advised to do a clean install of 10.6.6
All my files are backed up and I have done a TM backup. I want to be able to reinstall Apple Mail with all my family email and business email accounts & emails in it and also iTunes with all music and podcasts.
Is there any way I can do this directly from a back up of Time Machine without having to reinstall the whole thing once my machine has had a clean install.
    Thanks in advance
    Matt

First, reinstall OS X as you've been instructed to do. Upon completion of the installation Startup Assistant will give you the option to restore from a TM backup or other external drive. Restore your Home folder, Applications, support files, and network preferences which should return all your files.
If you restore your old system entirely then you will have what you now have - a slow running system.
But before you perform all of the above what you might try first are these:
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defrags files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc. Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Backuplist
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    iBackup
    JaBack
    Silver Keeper
    MimMac
    Retrospect
    Super Flexible File Synchronizer
    ynchronizer
    SuperDuper!
    Synchronize Pro! X
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.

  • Reading Sent mail and mail stored in folders from "On My Mac" on my ipad

On my MBP, I use Mail for both personal mail and business mail. I have two accounts set up in Mail. Mobile Me for personal mail (imap) and a pop3 account for my business mail. The Sent folder has copies of mail sent from both accounts. For my business mail I have a number of folders ("Mailboxes") set up that I move my inbox mail to when I want to save a particular email (I like to keep my inbox clean). These folders are stored under "On My Mac" on my MBP. I understand from reading previous posts that I cannot create folders on the ipad unless I create them on my MBP using my imap mobile me account, which I am not going to do for business. Is there any way for me to be able to have access to (i.e., read them from the Mail program on the ipad) the emails and their attachments that I currently have in my Sent folders and in the "On My Mac" folders?
Alternately, is there a way to copy all those emails and keep them synced with another app that would let me access them from the ipad? So much of my detail info for my ongoing business is on emails and not just word, excel, pwrpoint files (those I can upload and keep in sync with mobile me or Dropbox and access them when I need them) that being able to truly leave my MBP home for several days and only use the ipad is now questionable.
    Thanks

From Contacts, anyway (the new version of Address Book) you can export to a .abbu file and import then into Outlook. I'm not sure about Mail as I only really use Outlook...
