Mail doesn't recognize a domain name when composing an email
I was trying to email someone from a certain company/vendor, but I didn't remember the reps name.
I knew that their business name was in their domain name though, so I tried typing that into the To: field.
To my surprise, Mail didn't find anything.
Is there a way to turn this feature on, or else can I submit it as a feature request?
I realize that it's possible to use the search box to search for past emails containing a domain name, but this clearly is not my intention, I wanted to compose an email

HELP HELPTo confirm, your existing mail client isn't communicating with your existing and remote mail services at Dreamhost? Which mail client are you using (Apple mail?), and how is mail on the client set up?
It would initially seem that your client is still referencing the server, either for its inbound or outbound mail. (And I'm not sure how unplugging the server helps here, unless there's some sort of a configuration issue, or a duplicate network address or such.) This would usually be something within the configuration of the mail client.
The Mac OS X Server is significantly easier than the many other servers and server operating systems I've dealt with over the years, but it requires reading the manuals and/or some knowledge of networking and of server environments.
Small shops and home folks without the time or inclination to "spin up" on these server areas can be well-served with some help initially configuring the server. Servers are different from clients. Stuff that you're implicitly used to using when you're running a client -- the DHCP server, for instance -- are what the servers provide you with.
As for Mac OS X Server and particularly if you head outside of the default settings and sequences and off into the customizations, which is what has happened here, you might want to engage some assistance. Not just for the direct and obvious initial set-up sequence, but also for getting you set-up and started with backups and other such tasks. Before you get too deep in here and get too much underway and too much saved on your disks, do seriously consider getting somebody in to help set this box up for you.
Mac OS X Server is not "no IT", but it is rather closer to "less IT" than most. Particularly once you get it configured and running. -
Domain name when my windows machine (pc) is on VPN

Last week I had issue to get doman name Solaris machines and with the help of folks here I could solve the issue. After a gap of 1 week I have to work on the same assignment and now I have issue to get domain name when my windows machine (pc) is on VPN. It may be possible, with VPN I may not be able to get the domain.

Kindly give me some clues if you have.Update-PROBLEM FIXED by verizon support. I called my local verizon wireless store, who quickly got me tech support after running through a few things. I didn't know you could disable power management for just one device, but verizon tech support did! So you go into device manager, expand universal serial bus controllers, right click the first "root hub", click the power tab, and see if your device shows up. If it doesn't, continue this process through all the root hubs until it does.
When you find it, select it, and click the power management tab on the far right. Uncheck "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Restart the computer to save this setting. Then test it by putting the computer to sleep.
It did take about 30 seconds until the pantech uml 290 was connected, but it connected successfully three times in a row. I'm very happy with both the verizon store and verizon tech support. They were both very helpful and pleasant to talk t, and efficiently resolved the problem. I still think you pay too much for mobile broadband, and am a little put off that the problem existed in the first place, but I'm very happy to have this problem resolved.
One other piece of info. I got was that there is an upgrade, pantech 295 usb modem for only 30.00. So if I have any more problems I'll just try that. (It's still a wired, not wireless device, which I prefer.) -
I'm trying to send (email) photos from iPhoto. Computer says it doesn't recognize my user name or password. I've never had a problem emailing photos.....until now. Any suggestions? I'm sure it's simple but I don't know it!

There is likely something wrong with the account setup in iPhoto. You may need to delete the account you set up and enter it again if you want to send with iPhoto instead of with Mail.
Give this a try to see what might be wrong: Drag a photo from iPhoto onto the Mail icon in the Dock. It will create a new message with the photo attached. If you click on the photo in Mail, it should show a popup menu to allow you to set the image size to send.
Check out some of the links in the More Like This section to the right. There might be some other suggestions. -
iTunes 10.2.1.1 doesn't recognize my iPhone 4 when I try to sync it. This has happened suddenly. Please help.
I recently installed IOS 4.3.2. and ITunes 10.2.2 on my 64 Bit Vista PC. Since upgrading the IOS on any of my devices, none of them are recognized in iTunes. The computer recognizes them in My Computer but not in iTunes. Apple support pointed me to http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538?viewlocale=en_US which directs you to uninstall/reinstall iTunes and all related programs. That has not solved the problem. The only guidance I have been given is from a tech at the Apple store who mentioned that there might be issues with the drivers in Vista. I have not been able to find any help with solving that issue. Does anybody have any thoughts.

Nodemanager doesn't display the domain name
Hi
Iam new to wlst scripting and concepts of nodemanager. My aim is to start the server using nodemanager through wlst.
First i invoked the wlst.sh shell script
then i started the nodemanager by using startNodeManager command
Then i tried to connect to nodemanager through nmconnect
Now if i type the command nm() it displays the following
Currently connected to Node Manager to monitor the domain {0}.
It doesn't display my domain name , instead displays {0}. I guess because of the domain name not set properly , i am not able to view the status of the admin server. For this iam using the command nmserverstatus("AdminServer") , it displays the status as UNKNOWN.

If I remember right, display of such domains in the original script may depend on whether the domain officials have policies in place to safeguard against potential confusion between names that look the same in cyrillic and latin. But it could also be a simple oversight.
Each browser may be different: Do Firefox and Chrome behave the same? -
Safari doesn't display Cyrillic domain name correctly
Hello there,
I wonder why is that Safari doesn't display Cyrillic domain name with .укр TLD correctly, that is official Ukrainian Cyrillic TLD.
For example, if you visit the official website of the President of Ukraine, by typing: президент.укр in your Safari web-browser address bar instead you will see this: xn--d1abbgf6aiiy.xn--j1amh
On the other hand, if you visit the official website of the Russian president by typing the Cyrillic domain name with .рф TLD: президент.рф, it will be displayed correctly in Safari address bar.
For me it sounds as some form of discrimination, and I think it should be corrected ASAP.
Is there any solution to this?

I updated my iphone to iOS 6.0.1but it doesn't show the contacts names when calling or receiving calls. What to do?
This may be an error caused by the update. You can try to sync your contact information with iCloud and backup the rest of your data and then restore the device and see if it starts to work normally again.

I've a new account on iMac. When composing an email the contact list does not show up on the bar, which would allow me to select the persons I want to include on the distribution of the email. When I start keying in a name in the email, it comes up with the person's address, which shows it is synced. How do I engage the contact list from the email like I do on my old account (where a contact list icon shows up, along with the "attach" and other icons) ?
With the New Message window open, go to the View menu and select "Customize Toolbar...".
In the screen that opens, drag the item labelled "Address" into the Toolbar area of the New Message window, then click the "Done" button.
That item should be then added to the Toolbar for the New Message window.
Note that the main Mail window and the New Message window (as well as the separate message window if you open a message that way) use different toolbars - the settings/inclusions for one do not carry over to another. -
In Yahoo Mail, when composing an email I get an "Asking to leave this page" panel; it does not matter whether i choose stay or leave, the panel pops up again....and again...the only way out is to Force Quite Firefox and start all over...help please...

If it does apply to Mac, I am also hoping for something simpler as this could take weeks to isolate the problem and it would be more efficient to use another browser for mail

Just upgraded MacMini from the first generation to 2009 and Snow Leopard. I'm disappointed that Mail is giving me the same problem that the old one did: when composing an email it sometimes double spaces and there is nowhere to fix it that I can find. What to do?

How to enlarge when composing an email within the Mail app?
How to zoom-in (enlarge, make look bigger) when composing an email in the Mail app?
I am not interested in changing the resolution (which I am happy with). For the most part I can just use Command and the "+" key when I cannot see something to enlarge the font, especially that of web pages. This is also valid for reading incoming emails in the Mail app, too. However, when I compose emails this functionality does not work. I know I can actually increase the font but then I have to remember to decrease it before sending it (ridiculous step which one can easily forget about). I know I can also transfer into Notes or Word but this is just extra unnecessary work.
Is there a solution to this, so that I can only rely on the Mail application?

It sounds as if what you want to do can be accomplished by using the Zoom control, one of the Mac operating system's Accessibility features. Using it you can quickly and easily make content either on the entire screen or just a small window larger and easier to see without affecting how the screen resolution or how the email will look when it is sent. On Windows when composing an email, I would often highlight a word or sentence in yellow. I don't seem to have this option on my Mac Book Air toolbar as I did when I had on my laptop. How can I add this feature to my toolbar? I don't want to change the font color, just want to highlight a word within the email.

You may or may not be able to do this based on which e-mail client or webmail platform you're using. In your email options, you'll want to have the option to paste it as rich-text or HTML. If you only have the option for plain text then you're out of luck. -

u can slide the message viewer all the way over to the RIGHT, thus hiding the message from view, and then delete at will from the expanded left column.
