Mail Groups with Multiple Contact Email Addresses

I cannot find a way to create a Group in Address Book where the contacts have more than one email address. In fact I have not been able to get emailing to groups with Mail to work at all. I always get prompted to select one of my other outgoing SMTP servers... none of them work, iCloud, Gmail, private domain. I don't understand why this is so difficult.
I have read online that Groups do not support contacts with multiple email addresses... Really? Say it isn't so!

User A can have one mailbox associated with his ID.  You can create other "User A" mailboxes with different names and e-mail addresses as shared mailboxes and grant User A full mailbox rights and send as right.  User A can
then connect to each one of them separately.

    I want to creat an e-mail group for multiple contacts so I only need to select the group and then send an e-mail to all the contacts in that group. How do i creat a distribution group in icloud from my Outlook Address book?

  • Missing functionality - multiple contact email addresses

    Currently SBO version 8.8 oly allows a single email address for each contact to synchronize with Outlook.
    Contacts routinely have multiple email addresses which should all be enabled to synchronize with Outlook. by limiting to a single address in the contact record, the activities in the contact records will be missing critical history which may be requred for legal requirements onder Sarbanes Oxley and other legal reporting requirments for document retention requirements.
    Section 302 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act requires the CEO and CFO of a public company to personally certify and attest to the accuracy of their company's financial statements contained in periodic reports. Section 404 requires auditors to certify the underlying controls and processes that companies use to reach financial results. Both sections require proof that a company's reported financial information can be relied on - and require companies to invest in procedures that ensure information is recorded and managed in a trustworthy manner, including email. As an organization's dependence on electronic mail continues to grow, the mismanagement of email provides a growing target for litigators and regulators. Companies must ensure that records in digital form are managed with the same care and attention as records in paper form.
    Business records must be protected at all times from unauthorized tampering and deletion, more so when a company is involved in audits, investigations, litigation or other formal proceedings. It is therefore of primary importance to copy and archive data before a user has a chance to manipulate it or delete it. Companies must ensure that directors, management and accounting personnel in particular, are informed of their obligation to preserve business records

    You can try holding the COMMAND key, then highlighting the contacts you wish to delete, when you have finished sekecting try pressing COMMAND-Delete, this should trash them. Be sure enteries are are correct, there is no coming back.
    Hope this helps

  • Users with multiple primary email addresses

    I have some users that have multiple email addresses. I need to keep these email mailboxes completely separate. I do not want proxy email accounts all going into one inbox. So, how can I create multiple mailboxes for the same user ([email protected] and
    [email protected])? I need userA to log into each email account separately. I basically need a way for the system to see these as two different users all together, the problem being the username login only uses the userA
    portion and not the whole address. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Creating new group with multiple contacts

    What is the simplest way to create a new group with say 8 or 10 names that have been cc'ed on an e-mail? Essentially, I would like to be able to add all of the names at once to my Address Book, then using this same list create a new group. I can't find a way of doing this other than one at a time, unless I'm missing something obvious. Thanks for any help.

    There is collection of AppleScripts called Mail Scripts you can download at this link.
    http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
    The script to use from the collection of scripts is Add Addresses (Mail) which adds addresses found in the selected messages (in the header fields "From", "To", "Cc", and "Bcc") to the Address Book. This is much more flexible than the "Add Sender to Address Book" available in Mail and provides a convenient way for creating mailing lists.

  • Mail for with out revealing email address

    How do you use create a mail form (to send a simple email)
    using
    something like formmail, but without revealing the email
    address to
    somebody that examines the page source code in their browser
    or
    reading the associated formmail .txt file that is also
    exposed in the
    source code?

    NMS FormMail from
    http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net
    would look like this, and is virtually unhackable:
    In your HTML:
    <input type="hidden" name="recipient"
    value="the-alias-you-make-up">
    Make up anything you want as the alias.
    The PERL script (formmail.pl) located in your normally
    unreadable cgi or cgi-bin directory, contains
    this line:
    %recipient_alias = (the-actual-recpient@emailaddress);
    See? It's in the script, not the html page with the form, and
    not in some readable txt file.
    The PERL script cannot be accessed, it's hidden from ordinary
    viewers. You can name it anything you
    want -- I wouldn't use "formmail" because that's what the
    spam-crawlers are usually looking for, so
    rename it, like "cannedheat.pl" or something, and call that
    from your form:
    <form name="your-form" method="post"
    action="cgi-bin/cannedheat.pl">
    Okay?

  • Multiple Groups, Same People, Multiple Different Email Addresses Per Group

    I have some groups I need to set up, let's call them the GroupsIN, GroupsOUT and GROUPS.
    These groups have the same members, two people with two and three email addresses respectively. Let's say their addresses are:
    Rhonda Rodeo:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    Clarissa Cowgirl:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    This is how I'd like to set the groups up:
    GroupsIN:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    GroupsOUT:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    GROUPS:
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    [email protected]
    So, that's three groups with two persons and separate email groupings for each, one of which would contain all the email addresses for those persons.
    I've looked in the archives and don't see anything that specifically addresses this and can't see an obvious way to do it in "Edit Distribution List". I could do it by creating new alternate names for each of these persons such as R Rodeo and C Cowgirl as group one, RRodeo and Ccowgirl for group two and Ronda Rodeo and Clarissa Cowgirl for group three, but I use the address book to sync my Palm phone and I don't want all those extra names and addresses in there and it would just get generally confusing that way.
    Is there another way?
    JoeL

    If a Group member has more than one email address and you want to send to all email addresses for the member when addressing a message to the Group, the member with more than one email address needs to be copied within the Group for each email address.
    If a Group member has 3 email addresses and you want to send to all email addresses for this member when addressing a message to the Group, this Group member must have 3 entries in the Group which can be done via copy and paste for the member within the Group and then use Edit Distribution list selecting a different email address for each Group member.
    This is the only way that I'm aware of.

    Set up an additional user account and use one for work and one for personal stuff - each will have a separate address book. Turn on fast user switching for easy switching between the two.

    A have new problem that has appeared in my Mac Mail.  When I type a frequently used email into the 'To: line' it populates the correct name but with 8 different email addresses not associated with that name.  I have gone to the window pop-down to 'previous recipients' and deleted that addressee as well as all the email addresses it is assigning to that name.  I have also deleted the account entirely from my address book.  I have have run repair permissions and also full defrag in iDefrag.  Still the problem persists.  Any suggestions?

    Hello CarolineLongEaton,
    I noticed you posted this problem quite a while ago and wondered if you managed to have it fixed in an alternative way then posting here. It is too bad no one has posted a solution here. I have a similar problem and if you have had yours solved since this occurance how you accomplished it may help me with mine. I am interested to know what you have done about yours.
    If you are interested in comparing the problems to see if your solution (if you have found one) might help me also then here is the link to the discussion.

  • Multiple alias email addresses in mail,only receiving mail from one

    I have set up additional alias addresses for my virgin.net account and added these to the email address field in mail preferences separated by comma's, but only the mail from the original one comes in although I can access the mail of the additional ones on their webmail and send email from them from mail. Anyhing else I needed to do?

    Yes.
    If each email address has a different password, then this also indicates each email address has it's own user name to check the incoming mail server for new mail. The user name for an email account is usually the portion of the email address in front of the @ sign only but for some ISPs and email account providers, it is the entire email address.
    The user name for each email address is the key.
    If each email address has its own user name and password, then you must create each email address as a separate account in Mail.
    You can create separate accounts in Mail that use the same incoming mail server and each can have the same password as long as each account has a different user name.
    When creating an email account in Mail, an account named folder is created at the first level within the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account. The mailboxes accociated with the account such as the account's Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk (when Junk Mail is set to automatic) mailboxes are located within the account named folder.
    This is why you cannot create separate accounts in mail that utilize the same user name and incoming mail server.
    An "alias" email address to the primary account/email address uses the same user name, password and incoming mail server as the primary account/email address. If so, the only way to add an alias email address to the Mail.app for access is by adding the alias email address to the email address field separated by a comma under the Account Information tab for the primary account preferences.

  • Send emails from a csv file (grouping records with the same email addresses)

    Writing a script to send emails from a csv which contains record details and email addresses using the Send-Mailmessage cmdlet.
    That part is no trouble, however, the csv file contain records that can have the same email address.
    Is there a way/method I could send the records with the same email address once instead of sending individual email messages?
    Thanks
    Data in the csv file
    Record number, description, email
    1234, Test 1, [email protected]
    5678, Test 2, [email protected]
    1245, Test 3, [email protected]
    4578, Test 4, [email protected]
    $data = Import-csv c:\records.csv
    ForEach($address in $data)
    Send-mailmessage -To $address.emails -from [email protected] -subject "List of records" -Body $data -SmtpServer 192.168.1.1

    The following code does what you are looking for:
    $data = Import-csv c:\records.csv$mx = "192.168.1.1"
    $subject = "List of records"
    $from = "[email protected]"
    $data| Group-Object email|Select-Object Name, @{n='msg'; e={$_.Group| Select-Object -Property "record number", description|ConvertTo-Csv -notypeinformation|Out-String}}|
    ForEach-Object {Send-MailMessage -to $_.Name -Body $_.msg -SmtpServer $mx -Subject $subject -From $from}
    I also recommend no forcing everything into one line.  "One-liner" means "one pipeline" not putting all code on one unreadable line.
    Your code should look like this:
    $data|
    Group-Object email|
    Select-Object Name, @{
    n='msg'; e={
    $_.Group| Select-Object -Property "record number", description|
    ConvertTo-Csv -notypeinformation|Out-String
    }|
    ForEach-Object {
    Send-MailMessage -to $_.Name -Body $_.msg -SmtpServer $mx -Subject $subject -From $from
    Now we can see the code and see that you are still unnecessarily converting back and forth.
    To get the group look at how I did it.
    $body=$_.Group | Format-Table |Out-String
    Isn't that much easier?
    Once you master the pipeline these things will become second nature.  In PowerShell it is not necessary to write lots of code most of the time.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Welcome to the Support Communities!
    I'm not sure if you are referring to your Apple ID or just your email account in the Mail app.  So, I've included all of the articles that may be relevant for you.

  • I installed Mountain Lion so that I could sync my notes with my iPhone that already syncs notes with a specific email address I use for school, but during the install it automatically set up Notes to sync w the wrong email addy. How can I fix it?

    I installed Mountain Lion so that I could sync my notes with my iPhone that already syncs notes with a specific email address I use for school, but during the install it automatically set up Notes to sync w the wrong email addy. It looked in Mail, which had 5 email accounts set up in it, and for some reason picked the only one that I no longer use because it is for a school that I no longer attend. How can I fix it so that it syncs with the correct email account for notes and calendar? There don't seem to be any settings available other than to check if you want to use the basic features. It also said during the set up that it was setting up 'find my mac' but if I look on the iCloud website there is nothing showing there for finding my mac.
    At this point I feel like I wasted my money paying for this supposed upgrade. I got nothing for it but frustration. It even automatically set my security settings to allow only downloads from the Mac store so the first time I went to download something I had to stop what I was doing and go correct settings first. I feel like there should be a security setting to block downloads from the Mac store so I don't accidentally end up clicking the wrong thing and being charged.

    iCloud isn't syncing them on your phone.  You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone.  You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account.  iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
    iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac.  When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account.  You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar.  If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded.

                   message.setSubject(subject);
                   //BodyPart messageBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
                   Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
                   MimeBodyPart messageBodyPart=null;
    if(dataLocation!=null && dataLocation.equalsIgnoreCase("ATTACHMENT")){
                        String tmpName=fileName;
                        if( inputstream != null)
                                  tmpName = makeAttachment(fileName,inputstream);
                        messageBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
                        DataSource source = new FileDataSource(tmpName);
                        messageBodyPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(source));
                        fileName = fileName.replace('\\', '/');
                        fileName = fileName.substring(fileName.lastIndexOf('/') + 1,
                                  fileName.length());
                        messageBodyPart.setFileName(fileName);
                        multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);

    First, when sending your message, the filename should be a simple
    filename, not containing any directory names.
    It sounds like your mail server might be doing some special
    processing of attachments, perhaps to prevent viruses.

  • How do I add a contacts email address

    How Di I add contacts email addresses ?

    If you insist on using a mailing list for something it is not designed for I guess the answer is yes.
    Address books are for contacts and provide for contacts without email addresses. As stated earlier, mailing lists are for creating groups for sending group emails. In order for a contact to be on a mailing list they have to exist in the address book you are creating the list in.
    A better solution if you are trying to create categories of contacts is create a new address book.
