Mail marks iCal email notifications as junk mail

I suppose this could be an iCal problem or a Mail problem, but email notifications that come from iCal are marked as junk mail every time. Yes, I have "Sender of message is in my Address Book" checked off in Mail preferences, and my address is listed in Address Book. If I send an email from me to me via Mail it is not marked as junk, but from iCal it is always marked as junk. I found posts about this going back many years, surely there would be a resolution by now?

Hey there,
I had the same issue and was able to find the answer in another discussion.
You just need to highlight the card in Address Book and then choose "Make This My Card" in the "Card" menu.
Best,

  • Email Notifications goto Junk Mail

Does anyone have a solution for stopping C4T email notifications from going to junk email?
It happens randomly to people that were fine before.
I also don't understand why a successful approval goes to junk but a successful audit goes to inbox on the same report.
    Any thoughts would be great.

    Hi Britt,
unfortunately there is no general solution for your issue:
If you're relying on the junk filtering of Microsoft Outlook, maybe the information given by Microsoft can help you: Overview of the Junk Email Filter - Outlook . Users can do the necessary changes by themselves, but I guess a configuration can also be provided centrally by your IT department.
If you are using an anti spam tool for your company like Eleven's eXpurgate, then you have to contact that tool's provider to adjust the criteria for categorizing e-mails as spam.
    Best Regards,
    Andreas

  • ICloud push notifications plus junk mail

Ever since I changed to iCloud email, my push notifications aren't alerting me of new incoming mail.  I have set it for sound option and nothing is working.
My "junk" mail also is saying I ahve junk mail when really it's not junk mail.  I've tried flitering and teaching what's junk and what's not but it too isn't working.
    Help..,anyone ?

    bump!
i have the same problem on my iphone 4S.
mails gets correctly put in the subfolder i assigned but i dont get any badge notification so hours may pass before i realize i have a new mail in my "very urgent stuff" subfolder! which is quite bad
would love to know if there's a workaround, it's a known issue or i should just disable the rules for a while and moving the mails manually.
notice the rules are applied on the icloud webmail app, but not on my desktop mac

  • Email notifications on voice mail - 2014

For some reason, I no longer seem to receive email notifications when voice mail is left for me. I've checked the settings and everything looks ok, but I don't seem to get emails. I see some past posts from 2013 on this topic that things have been broken for some users. I don't see any recent messages from 2014. Any updates?

It's done in Verizon Call Assistant.  Once you have vca installed and active you can log in to the vca page for your account and there is a selection under what's new at bottom right that says get email notification of who called.  pressing check it out takes you to the email alerts setting page where you can set the default email address to receive notifications.  I'm not sure that this is the one that send you a recording of the voicemail too.
It may work as this thread just appeared from someone who is getting the email, albeit the wrong address
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Home-Phone-Landline-or-Digital/EMAIL-ALERTS-FROM-FIOSADMIN-VERIZON-COM/...
however it also appear to be the wrong sender.  You may want to query him on that thread as to how he set it up as that may be the service you area looking for.

  • Is there a comprehensive list of what X-Spam headers Apple Mail will look at when determining junk mail status?

Apple Mail has a preference to 'Trust junk mail headers in messages' but I can not find a list of what those headers are.  By trial and error I've learned the "X-Spam-Flag: YES" will work (exactly that, no extra info), but I'd like to know what other options there are... particularly if I can send a score/rating back and have it look at that.
But I can't find a list of supported headers.  The Internet is full of "common spam headers" and yet none of them actually seem to work -- and lots of people who can't get it working with spamassassin which is incredibly common...
So... is there such a list?

I'm in the process of trying to get this information for a client. Even with a paid AppleCare agreement, the only answer I'm getting is "look in the forums" and "look on the developer site" (although I have to give credit to the Tier-1 rep who's trying to help me.) The impression I'm getting is that they consider an exact list of header names to be proprietary information for some reason, and are going to great pains to try not to give out the information, but also to not create ill will amongst their customers by explicitly saying "that's proprietary".

  • Spam fighting Idea for Email Users-Beyond Junk Mail

I get so much junk mail I was hoping there was a way to automatically bounce back anything that got classified as junk. Then the important person who sent the email could use the old telephone for contact if they found they weren't getting their communication through. There would be an added bonus of all the emails that were junk would look the same (Mail Delivery System) and faster to delete.
Does anyone else think this is a good idea or is it just stupid.

Do you use this email address for public purposes, such as for online purchases, or for website access if an email address is required for access, or provide it for anything and everything when an email address is requested or required?
Do you automatically render all HTML received? If so, and a spammer includes embedded images or objects with HTML formatting that must be rendered from a remote server to be viewed, you are notifying the spammer that your email address is valid or "known good" causing even more spam to be received. When the Mail.app's Junk Mail filter correctly marks a message as junk when received, and the spammer includes embedded images or objects that must be rendered from a remote server to be viewed, these will not be rendered when such a message is marked as junk as a security measure. But this does not apply if such a junk message is not marked as junk when received, which is why automatically rendering all HTML when received is not a good idea.
Have you ever selected a link included with a spam message - any link, and especially a remove your address from the circulation list link? If so, you have done nothing but notify the spammer that your email address is valid or "known good" causing even more spam to be received.
Spammers sell/trade their "known good" email address lists to each other, causing even more spam.
If you have done any or all of these things, you have inadvertently and unknowingly added to the amount of spam you are receiving.
Once an email address is so badly compromised, it is impossible to get the cat back in the bag.
The best thing to do is to have a personal email address that is used to exchange email with family and friends only. Do not use this email address for online purchases, or for any other public consumption. Get a free Hotmail account that is accessed via webmail only using a browser to be used for online purchases and for public consumption.
A Gmail account is free, can be accessed as an IMAP or POP account with an email client on your computer, has webmail access, has an authenticated SMTP server so you can send messages with the account regardless the ISP being used for your internet connection, and Gmail has a good spam filter at their incoming mail server.
You don't want to reply to, bounce back, select any links, or render any HTML for spam for a number of reasons.

  • Email notifications stuck in Mail status

    Hi,
The notification mailer is up and running and we receive emails when we run the test. However, when a user goes through the application, lets say the Purchase requisition process, the process completes successfully, we see the notification in his worklist, we see the notification in the wf_notifications table with status of MAIL, but the user does not get the email notification. The email address is defined both on the employee record and on the user record. The background process is running but it doesn't pick up the notification. After a while the notification gets expired.
does anyone have any clue as to why the test notification from the mailer works but we don't get an email when we go thru the requisition process although it completes successfully ?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards
    Preeti

There are various aspects to troubleshooting this issue.
Let me explain the mailer architecture in a nutshell and then troubleshooting tips.
    1. Notification activity in a workflow process is executed by the engine. The activity makes an entry in WF_NOTIFICATIONS table with appropriate values for RECIPIENT_ROLE, SUBJECT and MAIL_STATUS based on recipient's notification preference.
    2. At the same time, an business event is raised for that notification and enqueued on to the WF_DEFERRED queue.
    3. The Workflow Deferred Agent Listener dequeues the event, builds a XML message for that notification and enqueues it again to WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT queue.
    4. Workflow Notification Mailer polls the WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT queue and when a message arrives, it dequeues it, parses the XML for that notification and builds a MIME message. Sends the MIME message to the intended recipient_role's e-mail address.
In summary the message for e-mail goes like this...
Ntf Activity -> WF_DEFERRED -> WF_NOTIFICATION_OUT -> Notification Mailer Now things to check.
    1. Is the Deferred Agent Listener or Deferred Notification Agent Listener running?
    2. Is the Notification Mailer running with Correlation ID parameter set to null? Because the mailer could be configured to only process e-mail notifications from a specific Item Type.
    3. Is the intended RECIPIENT_ROLE's e-mail address and notification_preference values in WF_ROLES view correct? The email address should be valid and notification preference should be MAIL%.
There is a debug script $FND_TOP/sql/wfmlrdbg.sql. Run this for the given notification id and you will be able to see in which queue the message is stuck.
    Hope this helps.

  • Vonage email notifications and Apple Mail client

Vonage provides a very nice feature in which, as soon as someone leaves a voice mail message, Vonage sends out an email notification to up to five different email addresses, in addition to sending a text message to a cell phone alerting you that someone has left you a voice message on your Vonage phone. Besides getting just a text-based email notification, you can also opt to have Vonage attach a .WAV file to the email it sends to those email accounts you list in your account settings page on the Vonage web site. I think this is a great feature, because I have my iPhone set up to receive the text message, and I also configured my email accounts to receive the email notifications together with the attached .WAV file, so I can listen to the recorded voice mail messages right on the iPhone, without having to dial in to a Vonage number, or go to the Vonage web site to listen to the voice mail via a computer.
While the Vonage email notifications with the attached .WAV files arrive just fine in my mac.com and my aol.com email accounts, those same email messages are NOT being sent to my the roadrunner.com email account provided by Time-Warner cable, my Internet Service Provider.
When I brought this matter up the tech support people at Vonage, they theorized that the roadunner server might be blocking receipt of the emails sent by the Vonage server. However, the problem does not seem to be related to roadrunner.com, because those email messages actually do reside on the roadrunner server. I can see them all right, but only if I use a browser and check my messages via their Web Mail application. For some mysterious reason, my Apple Mail client is NOT receiving those messages, and I have no clue why that would be so.
Does anybody know what is going on here? Shouldn't Apple Mail be able to retrieve all the messages on the roadruner server? What could prevent Apple Mail from being able to do that? And, is there anything I can do to make those email notifications —with their attached .WAV files—show up in my Inbox in Apple Mail?
Since I thankfully receiving those email notifications at my mac.com and my aol.com accounts, this is not a mission-critical issue for me. It is merely one of one technical curiosity.
    bowlerboy

To close out this thread, about all I can say is that the issue does not seem to be related to Apple software or to my Internet Service Provider. It is a Vonage issue that can only be fixed by calling Vonage tech support and getting their programmer/technicians to do whatever it is that they to do on their end to configure their Vonage email notifications to function correctly. If something sneezes, as it did in regards to my account, then Vonage tech support is the first place to call.
I'll consider this issue "answered" now.

  • ICAL Email notification, stuck on communication with email server

    Hi,
I know there is a ton of of these iCAL issues...
I was able to get by some initial issues and now am stuck at the email notifications not able to send.
Sending updates to an external address starts this chain of attempts to contact the mail server to send out the update. It repeats the following two segments repeatedly.
    My cal error log shows:
    2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [caldav_task] 2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [calendarserver.sidecar.task#debug] Checking for tasks
    2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [mailgateway] 2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [IMAP4DownloadProtocol,client] [twistedcaldav.mail.IMAP4DownloadFactory#debug] IMAP factory connection lost
    2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [-] [mailgateway] 2010-09-19 16:54:12-0700 [IMAP4DownloadProtocol,client] [twistedcaldav.mail.IMAP4DownloadFactory#debug] Scheduling next IMAP4 poll
    My mail access log shows:
    Sep 19 16:48:52 beta dovecot[3149]: pop3-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=<iCAL Server IP>, lip=<Mail Server IP>
    Sep 19 16:48:52 beta dovecot[3149]: auth(default): new auth connection: pid=20637
    Sep 19 16:53:42 beta dovecot[3149]: imap-login: Disconnected (no auth attempts): rip=<iCAL Server IP>, lip=<Mail Server IP>
    Sep 19 16:53:42 beta dovecot[3149]: auth(default): new auth connection: pid=20639
The attempts to send notifications do not reach the SMTP.
My settings are correct in the notification settings (I created in OD and confirmed POP/IMAP/SMTP settings with mail clients), both POP/or IMAP (either don't work at this point) and SMTP are using SSL.
The keychains com.apple.servermgr_calendar and .invitations both list the same system account with the password populated. The only difference is that .invitations carries the FQDN after the username ([email protected])
I had seen with the default com.apple.calendarserver, it did more or less the same thing...
From what I could research, the "(no auth attempts)" seems to suggest the gateway or mail server is not accepting the method or has all methods of authentication closed... However this shouldn't be the case, both mail server and ical have SSL use set in their respective settings...
*(I understand that caldavd.plist has the option to hold a plain text password... however this is not currently in my caldavd.plist and I do not wish to use it. My mail server is set to only work with MD5 however... Issue perhaps?
Any advice so I can catch up to where everyone else is stuck at would be pretty cool!

I attempted to use com.apple.calendarserver again, but it does not authenticate at all on the mail server.
Both my created and the com.apple. seem to be stuck in only being able to authenticate in PLAIN. I have given in on this and enabled the PLAIN authentication. From here the server log said com.apple.calendarserver had the wrong authentication. I don't see how this can be the case... (the mail server is a OD replica itself)
So I went into WGM and merely re-pasted in what I had recorded onto the local account. The WGM goes on and on about how this com.apple.calendarserver is only a local account, but I don't see any way to make an OD account (I'm not sure if this is even critical) anyway so I'll leave it be.
So now both email and normal across-OD invitations function.
On invitation replies however I get this message in the mail access log:
    deliver(com.apple.calendarserver): Sep 26 02:54:12 Info: msgid=<[email protected]l.outsi dedomain.com>: saved mail to INBOX
    Sep 26 02:54:12 beta push_notify[2709]: error: <iq id='10003' to='[email protected]/push_notify' type='error' from='pubsub.beta.mydomain.com' xmlns='jabber:client'><pubsub xmlns='http://jabber.org/protocol/pubsub'><publish node='/Public/IMAP/beta.mydomain.com/portnum/Mailbox/C8BA4F7E-6E65-4C97-8BCC-BC 3D28FAFE4B'><item><plistfrag xmlns='plist-apple'/></item></publish></pubsub><error type='cancel' code='404'><remote-server-not-found xmlns='urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:xmpp-stanzas'/></error></iq>
Otherwise it seems the SMTP sees the invitation reply and regurgitates back to the com.apple.calendarserver mail... What happens to it from there is a mystery.

  • Mail is not deleting trashed and 'junk' mail - it keeps re-appearing!

    Hi,
Whew! this one's driving me crazy! I've received a bunch of spam over the last 24 hours that I can't get rid of. I've marked it as Junk. I've dragged it to the Junk folder. I've erased Junk mail. I've deleted the spam. I've erased deleted mail. I've quit and restarted mail. I've cleared my email server. I've restarted the machine many times.
Every time I open mail... the Junk mail is back in my inbox. After deleting it, going to another mailbox, and returning to my in box, the junk is back....
The un-erasable junk total is over 116 now, and counting.
Is this some virus? Is anyone else having this problem? The spam is all from someone spoofing my domain (posing as someone from my domain). All of it purports to be from various mail delivery systems (such as Barracuda Spam Filter), and is coming from all over the world, USA, Britain and Germany...
    Help!

    Hi RThomas.
What type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? If POP, what are your Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove copy from server settings?
You may be able to get rid of those messages in Mail doing Edit > Cut (⌘X) (for best results do it with only one or a few messages at a time), but you may need to remove them from the server first. Does this account allow web access?
You may find the Account Info window useful to solve this problem -- choose Get Info (⌘I) from the Action menu (gear icon) located below the mailboxes list in the main Mail window.

  • Preventing all iCal email notifications of Google Calendar

I have a Google Calendar, and share it with others. On a remote machine, I set up that calendar in iCal using CalDAV, and later just as a subscription. In both cases, new meetings and reminders were send out using my remote machine's primary Mail email. I don't want that to happen. Is there a way to turn that off in iCal (http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icalreplychecker doesn't work with CalDAV), or must I control that in Google Calendar? thanks

I've been looking for a solution to this since I upgraded to Lion, and I'm saddened that there isn't a proper resolution.
I already get email notifications sent via Google Calendar, so the idea that for me to get my calendar events on my desktop, I basically have to put up with getting two notifications for each event, is pretty ridiculous. Add to that the fact that iCal continually launches the Mail app throughout the day, and that whole implementation is a mess.
    I appreciate the answer, though.

  • ICal Email Notifications

I have had this problem for years, but I'm finally searching for an answer.  I get this message when trying to set up an email notification in iCal "You must add your own card and email address in Address Book to be able to use mail alerts."
I have went to all places (mail, iCal, address book) and their preferences and NOWHERE do I see somewhere for me to "add my own card."
    I'm lost :-).
    Thanks in advance

    Hey there,
I had the same issue and was able to find the answer in another discussion.
You just need to highlight the card in Address Book and then choose "Make This My Card" in the "Card" menu.

  • Why doesn't Mail on my iPhone filter out Junk mail?

Can anyone tell me why Mail on my iPhone 4 does not appear to filter out Junk mail?
Maybe I'm oversimplifying things but I would have assumed the same features and functionality as in Mail for OS-X i.e. you can mark any mail received as 'Junk' if the filter hasn't recognised it as such.
Or is Mail in iOS just not that smart?

Thanks, that sounds a reasonable argument although it would be nice to be able to mark/filter directly from the iPhone as I don't always have access to either my Macbook or iCloud when I'm overseas for long periods and the Junk mail just keeps building!?
Wasn't having a 'dig' at Apple or it's developers; am a long term share-holder so I trust you know what you're doing!
Was just trying to work out if it was anything I was doing wrong
