Mail not recieving ical alarms from gmail

the only emails that mail does not retrieve from my gmail account are ones that i have sent to myself from mail as well as email alarms sent from ical. would like to recieve the ical alarms! please help

Nate,
Welcome to the Discussions.
A peculiarity of POP access with Gmail, is that you cannot send, with the gmail account, a message to yourself, and then have it download.
A Gmail account is a bit odd in its behavior. It is primarily designed to be used with web access, but does allow POP access. The server assumes that for POP access you only need to see what you have NOT read, and further assumes that downloading is the same as have read a message, and the same with a message from yourself. Because of this, you will not download message sent from someone else, on but one computer, without some manual intervention.

  • Mac mail not importing mbox archive from gmail

Hi, I'm terminating an email but want to import my existing email messages to date into Mac mail. I have the archive of my emails via google, which put them in .mbox format. When I open my mail program, click on "Import mailboxes" and choose the .mbox archive file it acts like it is going to import, but never does.
I've searched threads on here and have not found a solution. Someone please help? Thx!

Not sure what OS you're on, but if that mbox contains .emlx files, Import emlx to mbox, See if this helps...

  • Why mail can't receive email from gmail today, but yesterday was fine and yahoo is fine.

why mail can't receive email from gmail today, but yesterday was fine and yahoo is fine.

It's a risk if you're using POP3 mail. You can archive mailboxes to another location for safe keeping.
Or, just try adding new versions of the accounts without deleting the old ones (you can have duplicates, name them different so that you can tell them apart). If the new ones work, then you can just drag the mail folders from the old to the new and then delete the old.

  • Not receiving iCal alarm

My iCal alarms are being sent (I can see them in my sent folder in Mail), and they are showing up in my gmail account online. However, they aren't showing up in my inbox in Mail, and I'm not having trouble receiving any other emails.
    What could be the problem?
    Thanks.

  • Macbook 10.9.2 will not get new email from gmail

I believe I have found a solution to this problem of OS10.9.2 not being able to get my new email from gmail.
Go into Mail Preferences>accounts and select your problem account. Go down to "Outgoing mail server" and select the box "use only this server."
At first I didn't believe this would solve my problem because it's "outgoing" BUT it worked. My new messages instantly began loading. I quit mail and later opened it to see if I would instantly get new messages and it worked.
I was desperate and willing to try anything. Try it. You'll like it.

    This screenshot shows which previous versions of iPhoto qualify for a free upgrade to 9.5.1 and which require a purchase;
If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:
1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
    open the Terminal application.
copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    followed by Enter.
    launch App Store, login.
2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
    3 - try again.

I have a problem recieving gmail into my mac mail, it is constantly asking me to verify password which I know is correct. I have tried differnt IMAP settings withing my gmail, but nothing seems to change which my constant trouble to send and recieve mail.

Does it ever let you send mail? Like if you type it in does it send the mail? Or if you type it in does it receive the mail?

  • Mail can't receive email from Gmail server even it knew

I have an account in Gmail and I set up a POP account in Mail, and it works! But that's was last week time, now I can't receive any new mail but I still know I have. Why? Mail always alerts me that "You've new mail". When I check the "Get Info" of Inbox, it showed me that I have about 20 emails that are not download yet. I keep on clicking "get new mail" & wait, but no mail is show up! Things I tried:
    - restart my Mac.
    - reset up my account by checking "receive all mail" in Gmail settings.
    - del my recent account & create again.
    - send an email to myself.
    But it doesn't work.

Sometimes Mail chokes on a message it cannot download and that prevents it from downloading the rest as well. Solving this problem will probably require removing one or more messages from the server.
You may want to try to download those messages with another mail client such as Thunderbird first, to avoid losing them — and use Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to import them back into Mail afterwards if you wish.

  • Mail not getting all messages from Inbox

I get my email via Gmail using POP.  For several months I have noticed that I can only download about 11 messages at a time, even if more are on the server.  I have to rehit "Check mail" button until I get them all.  It is rather annoying and sometimes leads to me missing messages that should have been downloaded.  I cannot figure out how to fix this.  I went to the Genius Bar and they could not figure it out.  I have trashed the prefs files and that does not help.  If I set up a new User it works fine, so clearly there is something awry in my User account or Mail folder, but I have too much organized and setup in Mail to just start afresh.  Any help or advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks.
p.s.  This happens no matter the ISP I am on.  I travel and it is the same everywhere.

  • Mail not getting all messages from server and other strange behavior

    Hello All,
Mail has been doing some odd things for me of late (at least the last week) and I'm lost for a solution to my problem. As far as I can tell, perhaps my Prefs. have become corrupted, or at least something in relation to Mail has become corrupted. Perhaps someone has a solution to this issue before I have to back it all up and NUKE the whole **** app to get back up and running properly.
The main issue I appear to be having is that Mail is not getting all of my Mail messages from my server. I can log into my web-mail interface provided by my domain host and can see there that there are many e-mails that don't appear to be coming down the pipe to the Mail.app client. I'm getting some e-mail's but not all....
*Here are all the things that I've checked:*
    • The missing e-mails are not being picked up as Junk and are not in the Junk folder
    • I have done a search within Mail for the missing e-mail's and nothing turns up anywhere.
    • I have checked on the server end that I'm not maxing out my InBox or that there are any other service issues from my domain host provider.
    • I have been into Prefs and checked my account settings - most (see below) of which appear to be as normal and are fine.
*Here are the weird things that I've noticed:*
    • When I went into the Prefs. for the account in question, I noticed that my login had changed. For example - it usually it is "[email protected]", however it had seemed to have changed to just "johndoe" - I know this wasn't me as my domain host will not allow me to access any mail unless the login is the full mail address.
    • In RULES, every rule I double click to check on seems mostly fine, apart from the fact that every "Account is:" the pull down menu just appears as blank. Usually it says "Account is: ([email protected])"
It's there last 2 items that make me think something is corrupted - so I guess my question is, what pref or file has corrupted and how can I fix it without having to give Mail.app a digital enema?
Any assistance would be most helpful - missing some but not all your incoming e-mail messages is quite annoying, as you can guess...!
    Thanks,
    Boz

    Hello Boz.
This appears to be a rules issue. Mail is almost certainly downloading those messages, but they’re probably being processed by your rules in an unexpected way — given the information you’ve provided, maybe because there is something wrong with the file where the account settings are stored.
Do you have any Mail plug-ins? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?
    /Library/InputManagers/
    /Library/Mail/Bundles/
    ~/Library/InputManagers/
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
To make accurately reporting this information easier, you may open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here and paste it in Terminal), and press <Return>. You can then copy the output of that command from Terminal and paste it in your reply to this post:
    ls -1 /Library/InputManagers /Library/Mail/Bundles ~/Library/InputManagers ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
    <hr>
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and ensuring that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Write down your Mail > Preferences > Accounts settings or take screen shots of them.
    2. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Mail data is enabled either in Mail > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
    3. Quit Mail.
    4. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the Mail folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    5. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this solves the problem). If you have a backup of your data that includes a working copy of this file, you may try restoring it from the backup to avoid steps 6-8.
    6. Open Mail. You’ll have to set up your non-.Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done.
    7. You’ll have to re-configure some of your Mail > Preferences settings. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    8. As a side effect of re-creating com.apple.mail.plist, Mail might rename Outbox (which is where messages waiting to be sent are stored) to Delivered. The name of that mailbox is actually a misnomer, as it would contain messages (if any) that couldn’t be delivered for some reason. You can delete that mailbox if you wish.
    9. If the problem is fixed now and .Mac synchronization of Mail data was enabled at the beginning, enable it again, go to System Preferences > .Mac > Advanced, click Reset Sync Data, and choose the appropriate options to reset the Mail data stored on the .Mac server with the data locally stored on the computer, i.e. sync data must flow from the computer to the .Mac server.
    <hr>
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • Mail not saving IAMP preferences for Gmail

    Dear All,
I'm using iMail to access my Gmail account through IMAP. The settings should be very particular to get IMAP to function transparently. When I set those settings in iMail preference it is working until ... the next time I launch iMail ... as those settings appear discarded and re-defaulted to wrong ones.
Can you help me fix that issue? Thanks.
    Regards.

If you are not receiving a Delivery Failure notification, then the mail is most likely being deleted on the Verizon end.  (Be sure to check your spam/trash for those messages, as well.)
Assuming your friend is getting other email successfully, have your friend check all of the following:
    1. Settings > Email Settings > Filters - Check to make sure there aren't any filters set up that could be discarding/moving your messages.
    2. Settings > Email Settings > Spam Detector - If Spam Detector is on, make sure the option is selected to Save spam in the SpamDetector folder (rather than delete it). Then they can check that folder for any incoming messages.
    3.  Settings > Email Settings > Blocking - Make sure that your email address / domain are not in the Blocked Senders list. (If your address is [email protected], then "[email protected]" or "yahoo.com" would block your messages.)
Optionally, they can select Save the email from the Blocked Senders list and then choose a folder from the drop-down list.
