Mail Stationery and HTML

Hi there,
Is there someone who knows if I can use a HTML-page (that I created in iWeb) as a new mail stationery? I need to make a newsletter for my company, but the standard stationery is not statisfying for me and i need a stationery that includes pictures in the text and not as a header or a footer.
Thanx!
iMatts

Okaaaaay, we are getting close, but still ... not the result that's needed
The header picture is fine and looks great, but the pictures and text in the content area are not editable or changeable. A rectangular box is shown with the 'X' to close it on the upper left corner.
I think using HTMLs from iWeb for email stationery should be something easily do-able, because it is both HTML and a great way to personalize your emails ... (hope Cupertino is reading this :)).
Anyone else who succeeded in this topic ???

Is there a way to set up the curve and the world edition to display HTML in the e-mail's instead of displaying the raw html code?

    hello,
that is not part of a configuration. You have two ways :
    1) you install another email application that does that. There are two, I forgot their names.
    2) you can upgrade the OS of your Blackberry to 4.3 or 4.5. read this :

  • Sup mail client and html mail - run-mailcap script now in aur

    Hi,
For the users of sup mail client. Standard sup installation requires a script called run-mailcap to open html (and other mime) attachments. I couldn't find this script in any arch repos so I made a package for aur. This package downloads a deb file from ubuntu repositories and extracts just this one script (run-mailcap). This should make life a bit easier for early sup users.
Unfortunately the package requires deb2targz since I don't know how to extract just one file from a deb without this script. If this can be done in a better way, please let me know. For now deb2targz is just a makedep, you can remove it after installation.
    Enjoy

For future reference, bsdtar can break open .deb files (and .rpm files for that matter) and bsdtar will be found on every Arch system since it is part of the libarchive package and pacman itself depends on libarchive. I use bsdtar in this way in the opera-devel PKGBUILD. I added libarchive to my makedepends, though arguably this isn't really needed unless pacman is likely to stop depending on libarchive any time soon.
With this in mind I do wonder why people install tools like deb2targz or rpm2cpio on Arch when it is already possible to pull apart these files with a pre-installed tool. Perhaps people are just unaware of this?
P.S. Even without bsdtar, .deb files are just 'ar' archives with three files inside: debian-binary (which states the deb format version number), control.tar.gz (packaging meta-information) and data.tar (the actual installable files, optionally compressed with gzip, bzip2 or lzma). As such you can alternatively use the 'ar' command to extract data.tar and then get the raw files by extracting from that with (GNU) tar in turn. It is worth noting that 'ar' is included as part of the GNU binutils package, so pretty much guaranteed to be present on any system that is used for repackaging.

  • How do I mix text and Html format in a java mail?

How do I mix text and Html format in a java mail? some part I want to keep the text format, the other part I want to use Html functions(like fond, color, etc)

You don't mix them. Pick one or the other.
However if you want to have a text version and an HTML version, so that mail readers that don't handle HTML can see regular text instead, then you could produce a "multipart/alternative" message. There's an explanation of how to do that in this article:

  • HT2500 How can I make a new template in mail stationery(OS 10.6.8) with my own logo and background?

Is it possible to make a new template with my own logo and background?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    Open Mail, Help
So, create your template from scratch or edit an existing Mail template and re-save it with a new name.
Your own saved or edited/re-saved templates are stored in the Custom list at the bottom of the Stationery types.
The default templates remain with original names in the original folders.
Then to use your template in a New Message, select it from Show Stationery, Custom.
To make it easier to select Stationery templates, first open Mail, New Message, View, Customize Toolbar, and then drag the Show Stationery button to the New Message toolbar. (It will not ever appear in the default Mail toolbar, only the New Message toolbar, and can only be added to the New Message toolbar.)

  • MAIL 2.0.7 and HTML ???

    Bonjour,
Alors si je tombe sur un technicien qui parle français, tant mieux !
Je cherche à savoir comment utiliser l'option "coller comme HTML" qui se trouve dans MAIL 2.0.7
    Merci Beaucoup
    LVER

I have been searching for how to create custom HTML emails in Mail, in a way that would work with OS 10.3 and 10.4, so as not to rely on the user having Tiger. After reading through many posts, I came up with a script that creates a new HTML message that you can still edit in Mail itself before sending, and you don't need Safari 2. I'm new to scripting so please let me know if this is useful.
    Jodain
Part I: defines the HTML code; you can make something in the script itself as long as the string this_html ends up in proper formatting. I actually came up with this primarily for pasting most the html code in the script itself, with a few changing variables. If you do paste or type html code in the script, make sure you use \\ for every \, and \" for every ". If you're using TextEdit to alter the html, use find and replace in that order (\:\\ then ":\").
Part II: builds a message in Mail with the html content... an undocumented property of a Mail message. However, it only works when visibility is false, so unless you send it right away, the user is not able to still type the recipients and edit the body in Mail as he/she might be used to. Which brings me to...
Part III: takes the saved draft and opens it up for editing. The open command only lets you view the message, even if it is outgoing, so I had to come up with a work-around so you can still edit as if you're composing it for the first time.
    --Part I
tell application "Safari" to set this_html to source of document 1
tell application "Safari" to set this_page to name of document 1
    --Part II
    tell application "Mail"
    activate
set theMsg to make new outgoing message with properties ¬
    {subject:this_page, html content:this_html & ¬
    return & return, content:""}
tell theMsg to make new to recipient
    save theMsg
    --Part III
if not (exists the front message viewer) then make new ¬
    message viewer
    tell front message viewer
    set selected mailboxes to {the drafts mailbox}
set sort column to date received column
    set sorted ascending to false
    delay 3
    set selected messages to {first message}
tell application "System Events" to tell process ¬
    "Mail" to keystroke return
    end tell
    end tell

  • Ironing the bugs out of a custom Mail Stationery

So I'm making a custom Mail Stationery for myself. It's pretty set up the way I want to look. It looks good when I'm sending it, and to someone else who uses the Mail client, it looks like it's supposed to as well.
In Gmail's web interface, it doesn't work. Basically, Gmail misinterprets the images I use for the template as attachments, and displays them as so, rather than using them for the interface.

  • Custom mail stationery missing...

While I have the stationery in Mail, it does not appear to be where it should be. I read the following article: http://www.jdempsey.com/how-to-create-customized-osx-mail-stationery-in-leopard/
The thing is none of the stationery templates are anywhere to be found. I've searched for it with Spotlight but found nothing.
I created a template in Mail called "iantest" and it saved by default in
    Mail>Stationery>Apple>Contents>Resources>Custom>Contents>Resources
Perhaps I can modify content.html in my "iantest" file, but then would the images be embedded and would there be any placeholders?
Do you know where the Mail stationery is?

mail stationery is located in yourharddrive/library/application support/apple/mail/stationery/apple/contents/resources/stationery/contents/reso urces.
first path is yourharddrive, not homefolder.
    hope this helps

  • Problems with Mail, Safari and iTunes after updating to 10.5.6

    Hi all,
after installing 10.5.6 I have problems with Mail, Safari and iTunes.
The time to open mails, websides and iTunes store is increasing dramatically since the update. If I open a webside parallel with Safari and Firefox, Safari needs minimum 15 times longer to open the complete side. Mails containing HTML-code also needs a long time to be opened. Tha same Problem with iTunes store. Connecting to the Store costs at least 30 - 40 seconds. And unfortunately for every iTunes store side I open. Its terrible
Any idea or workaroung to solve that problem?
    Regards
    Michael

First, run Disk Utility and repair permissions and then restart.
I installed the 10.5.6 Combo update. Sometimes things get "lost in the translation" when you use Software Update depending on your installation. Perhaps you can download 10.5.6 Combo from the website and install it from your desktop.

  • Mail update and lost inbox messages

I am new to Macs. When I opened my Macbook today it automatically started an update to Mail. when it was done my settings for my ISP changed (eliminated my account settings and all that's there now is .Mac which I signed up for as a curiosity but don't use) deleted my inbox, deleted my sent messages and seems to have left all my other message alone.
Is this a virus? How do I get my lost message back? I don't see any references to a mail software update when I do Google searches. As much as I dislike Outliook I have to say I've never experienced anything like this and I'm concerned. I may be at fault since I just used the Mail software and didn't spend a lot of time researching it. Did I do something wrong or is there something else wrong?
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

What’s the capacity and space available on your startup disk? Take a look at the comments about disk space in the following article, in case they apply to you:
Problems from insufficient RAM and free hard disk space
Even if there is enough space available on the startup disk, for some reason that remains a mystery to me, Mail sometimes “thinks” it must discard the current ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist preferences file and create a new one. As a result, all your non-.Mac account settings (but not the messages themselves), which are stored in that file, are lost.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what’s it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), quit Mail if it’s running, and make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, just in case something else goes wrong while trying to solve the problem. This is where all your mail is stored.
    You have three options now:
    (1) Restore com.apple.mail.plist from a backup if you have one. Mail shouldn’t be running while you do this.
    (2) Set up your non-.Mac accounts in Mail again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done. You’ll also have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    (3) Mail may have renamed the old preferences file to com.apple.mail.plist.saved. If that’s the case, you may try moving the new com.apple.mail.plist out of ~/Library/Preferences/ (e.g. to the Desktop) and rename the old com.apple.mail.plist.saved back to com.apple.mail.plist. Again, be sure Mail isn’t running while doing this. Since Mail decided to discard it, I would expect this file to be corrupt (I don’t understand why would Mail discard it and create a new one otherwise), but apparently that often is not the case and the settings can indeed be restored by just renaming the file.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • Mail crashed and lost all accounts

Mail just crashed, and whern I restated, it went back to defaults and all my accounts except .Mac have disappeared. My mailboxes are intact, except all mail in my inbox has disappeared. I know this info has to be on my HD somewhere, where do I find it and how do I get it back?

    Hello David.
What is your hard drive capacity and available free space?
As a firs step, check this link for system troubleshooting procedures and when doing so, follow all steps/instructions in the order provided:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/repairprocess.html
When completed and with the Mail.app quit, using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail. Copy the Mail folder and place the copy on the Desktop for backup purposes.
If you have limited free hard drive space - well less than 5GB available, do not place the copy of the Mail folder on the Desktop - this needs to be place on an external drive or anywhere else.
Using the Finder go to Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.mail.plist. Delete the com.apple.mail.plist file and empty the Trash.
Note: Deleting the com.apple.mail.plist file will require re-entering all email account information when relaunching Mail with the exception of your .Mac account.
Launch Mail and decline any prompt to import mailboxes.
After re-entering all other email account information the same as before, the Mail.app should rediscover the existing account named folders and mailboxes within the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail.
After confirming all mailboxes were successfully rediscovered and all messages are available, you can delete the copy of the Mail folder.

  • Mail Merge using HTML Office 2010 Service Pack 2 doesn't send

I have a user who sends out mailings several times a week using a Microsoft Word Mailmerge.
He recently had his physical PC upgraded and we gave him a computer with a fresh install of the same programs he had before.
When the mail merge is accessed everything seems to work fine (selecting the excel list of addresses to send to, specifying the recipient list, and going to send the mail merge we select the e-mail address column as the To list and the format as HTML and
    select Send)
Once the send button is pressed it shows the working mouse pointer icon temporarily and then nothing.
I check outlook to see if the E-mails sent and there are none listed.
This same process works on another user's computer just fine and will send out the e-mails.
I have attempted the below troubleshooting steps:
I verified that all updates/service packs are installed.
I verified that the AV is listed as "Valid".
I disabled the AV during a test send and it still did not work.
I verified all the settings on both workstations to see if there are any differences and I was unable to find any.
    I rebuilt the Outlook Profile.
I uninstalled and re-installed MS Outlook.
I checked to ensure Outlook was the default e-mail program in Default Programs.
I checked to see  that Word is the default HTML program in internet option settings.
I checked to see if there was a 64 bit registry key in place that could cause problems and there has never been any 64 bit MS Office applications installed and so I did not find any.
Plain Text mailmerge works with one caveat.
I get an Outlook pop-up stating "A program is tryign to access e-mail address information stored in outlook. If this is unexpected, click Deny and verify your antivirus software is up-to-date. For more information about e-mail safety and how you might
be able to avoid getting this warning click Help" (this pop-up happens for each message that is being sent so a 50 person mailmerge asks 50 times)
And it shows a box where I can select Allow access for a specific time frame (10 minutes or less) and then 3 buttins "Allow" "Deny" and "Help"
Clicking help bring me to MS Office help menu that didn't explain anything close to the problem I was having and did not "HELP"
This is beginning to frustrate the user and I am running out of ideas to fix the problem. My next step was going to be attempt to re-install the OS at this point.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Whyitsme84

The Mail Merge was created using a different computer/user.
I have not attempted to create another mail merge from his account; I will try this and get back.
I have compared the options/settings from that and another user as I stated above.
Which registry keys would I import? I don't want to go importing keys and have it break something else.
They are not any add-ins on either PC that are different from each other; and as I stated above I have tried starting it in safe mode.
Anti-Virus is up to date; Also I even disabled the Anti-Virus to see if that changed anything, and it did not.
I will try creating a new mail-merge to see if somehow it creates a settings somewhere that will allow it.

The Problem is that when I look at the $errOutput I see things but when I pipe the $erroutput to convertTo-CSV I get this within the CSV file. I think its because I an calling a function to do the updating. But not sure.

    Hi Jeff,
Any updates? If you have any other questions, please feel free to let me know.
A little clarification to the script:
    function _ErrObject{
    Param($name,
    $errStatus
    If(!$err){
    Write-Host "error detected"
    $script:err = $True
    $ErrObject = New-Object -TypeName PSObject
    $Errobject | Add-Member -Name 'Name' -MemberType Noteproperty -Value $Name
    $Errobject | Add-Member -Name 'Comment' -MemberType Noteproperty -Value $errStatus
    $script:ErrOutput += $ErrObject
    $errOutput = @()
_ErrObject Name, "Missing External Email Address"
    $errOutput
_ErrObject Name "Missing External Email Address"

  • Note:  Mail.app and Folders with Dovecot - Copying Folders w Subfolders

I found a problem with Apple Mail regarding folder creation with the new Dovecot Server...
Say you import some mail from Eudora or some other mail client, and you have folders with no messages, only subfolders (or mailboxes if you want to call them that). The mailbox on "My Mac" appears white instead of blue, and you can see the subfolders just fine and everything looks great. Drag that folder (the white one with subfolders) to your IMAP account to copy it to the server. It will copy just fine. Now try to rename or delete that white folder you just copied to the server. You will get the following error:
For this example I will call the problem folder "TestFolder"
The IMAP command RENAME (or DELETE if you try to delete) (to TestFolder) failed with the server error: Mailbox does not exist: TestFolder
    The problem is this:
Dovecot creates folders and subfolders as separate directories on the server:
    .TestFolder
    .TestFolder.TestSubFolder1
    .TestFolder.TestSubFolder2
In the above example, there is a folder (or mailbox) called TestFolder with two folders inside it, TestSubFolder1, and TestSubFolder2. This example is the correct way to create a folder with dovecot, or if not "correct", at least you can delete or rename the "TestFolder" without an error.
What happens with Apple Mail (Mail.app), is that when you drag a white folder to the server, it would create the following:
    .TestFolder.TestSubFolder1
    .TestFolder.TestSubFolder2
Notice the root folder .TestFolder is missing. This is why you get the error message noted above. If you create .TestFolder in the directory, chmod 700 .TestFolder and chown <username> .TestFolder, you can rename or delete the problem folder (notice it turns blue as well). This gets rather annoying when dealing with multiple folders/subfolders, and is not a real graceful way of dealing with the situation.
Apparently there is some intended difference with the white folders and blue folders, in that blue folders can contain messages but white folders can only contain other folders. Great, but Mail.app needs to somehow create the folder on the server in a way that is compatible with Dovecot.
If someone has a developer account (mine keeps complaining that there is missing information, but there is no missing information and won't let me log in), could you post this as a bug report? I'll deal with my developer account later...
    Thanks.

    > It's not that they don't show up in Mail. In Mail, they are in their
(manually) sorted folders. On the server they are in BOTH their
sorted folder, AND the main inbox where they first appeared.
Yes, but what I’m saying is that, according to your reports, even after rebuilding the Inbox of the .Mac account that has the problem, there are still messages in that mailbox on the server that don’t show up in Mail in that same mailbox. Is that correct? This is what doesn’t make sense to me...
    > Mac-mydotmacusername1
    Mac-mydotmacusername2
    [email protected]
So you have two .Mac accounts and a POP account. You hadn’t mentioned this before, had you? I got the impression that you only had one .Mac account...
Which account has the problem, i.e. for which account there are messages on the server’s Inbox that don’t show up in Mail even after rebuilding that mailbox? Are you moving messages from a .Mac account’s Inbox to custom mailboxes of that same account or to mailboxes associated with the other .Mac account?
    <hr>
Try this to determine the scope of the problem:
    1. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accounts and create a new user account for testing purposes.
    2. Either log out of your main user account or just quit Mail so that it does not interfere with the other user account.
    3. Log in as the newly created user and set up Mail anew there.
    4. For spam-related security reasons, go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    5. If you set up a POP account, go to Preferences > Accounts > Advanced and disable Remove copy from server after retrieving a message if it’s enabled, to avoid messages being accidentally removed from the server while testing.
    6. Check whether the problem also happens when logged in as another user.
