Mail Sync Issue

Hi All
Since updating to Yosemite on BOTH my Mac Mini Late 2012 and 2013 Mac Book Pro 13" i have had issues with one of my mail accounts not syncing.
My exchange maill account is fine, 2 of my hotmail accounts are fine it is my main hotmail account that wont sync.
It is random on its sync, i might sync one day then not for 2 weeks, then it takes a restart of the computers  and maybe if i'm lucky it will sync, all the settings are the same for all my hotmail accounts and the others are fine.
has anyone had this issue... Also it works perfectly fine on my iPhone and iPad it is only on my OS X probusts that it doesnt work.
Ive tried the following:
Removing the account and re adding it again. (worked on the initial sync then not there after)
Shutting down and restarting rather than waking from Sleep (when i can...another issue with Yosemite) - (worked for 2 days then not)
Manual Sync (doesnt work)
Any help would be appreciated as i dont want to move to Microsoft Outlook!

You need to check two things:
1. Log in to your hotmail account and check settings on it. Check if hotmail allow mail clients to remove/delete messages from server.
2. Open mail preferences->go to "Accounts"->Select your hotmail account->Check "mailbox behaviors" and check settings for "Trash". Make sure - if this option is presented - that "Store deleted messages on the server" is not selected.
Make sure to delete messeges from mail trash too.

  • Mail sync issue with new iPod Touch

I have been unable to successfully perform an initial mail sync using my new iPod Touch 32 GB with Version 3.1.1.
All is being successfully sync'd with the exception of mail. The error box when I click on mail with the iTouch reads - "Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server mail.me.com failed"
I have an active .Mac account. I can successfully log into "mobileme" via my G5 1.8 dual running OS X 10.5.8. My cable web provider is Comcast in the Middle TN area.
Thanks in advance with any suggestions.

I found my "issue" is not an issue when I was able to access WiFi. The touch downloaded my messages! I was naively "assuming" that the initial setup via iTunes would have provided my initial message download.
Marking this "false alarm" as solved. I'll avoid "jumping the gun" on my next hurdle.

  • Mail sync issue with iPhone - drains the battery

I am using microsoft webmail sync with my iPhone and lately it has started draining the phone battery (hardly stands 2 hours with full charge). I deleted the mail account from iPhone and it works fine again.
Is there any settings tweak that i can try to avoid this happening again

Try going to Settings>iCloud, turn Mail off, then after a few seconds turn Mail back on.  This deletes, then adds back you iCloud email account and may clear things up.

  • Mail Syncing Issues

I would really like to update my iPad 2 to IOS 7, however I fear I will lose a lot of very important e-mails. Correct me if I'm wrong but backing up does not save any e-mails but rather downloads these e-mails from the server once you update. This would normally not be a problem but my account is a Bigpond e-mail account. This means that while I can send and receive e-mails, any e-mails that I send don't get synced to the server. These sent emails are very important and I canot possibly go without them in their current state. Is there a way to either get these emails to sync to the server or manually back them up?

Yes, good idea and it may com in handy another time....
    On your iPad go to:
    Settings
    ICloud
    Storage and back up
    Manage storage
    Select your device
    "Show all"
Turn on any switch for Apps that need to be backed up.
Not sure where your big pond sent emails are located.   Make sure you know so you back them up.
I didn't lose anything, no worries.
I advise connecting to iTunes and computer and update that way (back up is automatic before update)

  • IOS Mail syncing issues with iCloud - emails from 1970!!!!!

    Hi
I woke up this morning to find some very weird behaviour on my iOS devices (iPhone 5 32GB, iPad 2 32GB).
Both mail apps are synced to my mail accout with icloud yet both only seem willing to sync with all email from today and yesterday, and then only show emails from late November 2012. My iPad also seems to believe that I was sent some emails from 01/01/1970!!!!
As far as I am aware all was fine yesterday, and all seems to be fine with mail on my Mac.
    Any advice much appreciated,
I deleted the account from my phone and then re-added it but the problem was still there.
    Many thanks
    Andy

I have previously successfully fixed similar problem by resetting all settings. Settings - general - reset - reset all settings. Do not click the line that says erase content. You will lose your screen wallpaper, your wifi password and other minor stuff that is not worth mentioning, but nothing important.

  • Mail sync issue with Gmail Server

I recently acquired an Ipad and set up the Icloud for all my devices (MacBook, Iphone).  I have 3 email accounts set up on all devices.  The emails on two of the accounts are syncing properly.  The other email address utilizes GMAIL as the incoming and outgoing server.  Emails coming into my inbox only appear on the device that I am using at the time.  When I check the inboxes on the other devices, these emails do not appear.  Need help, please!

I found my "issue" is not an issue when I was able to access WiFi. The touch downloaded my messages! I was naively "assuming" that the initial setup via iTunes would have provided my initial message download.

  • HT4972 Mail sync issues following i0S 6 upgrade.

My mail is no longer syncing following the upgrade to i0S 6. Any thoughts?

    Have a look here -> http://www.office.mvps.org/syncservices/ical.html
I just wish Apple created their own program that had the Calendar/Contacts/Email in one program...I hate having to switch back and forth.
Yeah, I resisted switching for the same for the longest time but it's a non-isue for me now.
Anyhoo, hope you get it sorted.
    Good luck!

  • Yahoo mail sync issue after upgrade to iOS 5

After i have upgraded to iOS 5 my emails from Yahoo are a month off.
Only the emails from a month before are synchronized. As an example, today 10/24 I can see the emails from until 9/13.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ok, thanks everyone's experience sharing with each other. after I try so many time with my bro for this issue, finally we got solution to solve this issue.
I'm using iPhone 4 and my bro is using iPod touch 4th Generation, we both upgrade to iOS 5,
then I was thinking that when I do Facetime setting, there is a selection that you can use your Apple ID as your Facetime account, so I changed my Facetime account with Apple ID, the default setting is using your phone number. then its works!!  now I can use Facetime with my bro in airplane mode.
I guess before I upgrade iOS 5, iOS 4 allow Facetime auto detect to use phone number(if airplane mode is off) or use Apple ID, which your email address to connect to another user, but iOS 5 not allow it or disable auto detect, (I just guess).
anyway now I only use Apple ID as my Facetime account, then I can use Facetime under airplane mode. hope it help you guys.

  • Signal and E-Mail sync issues on C7

    Hi,
Noticed a month or two back that my signal fluctuates all the time even when in the same location. It goes from 1 to all bars or from all to 0 losing the coverage, then it just shows the Antenna, then Edge speeds, then 3G speeds, and rarely 3.5G speeds....
But even more annoying than that is that it stops synchronising e-mails sometimes....you enter the mail client, tap synchronize and it does nothing. Only rebooting the phone fixes it.

Try another phone. If it fluctuates as well, then its a network problem.

  • ICloud mail syncing issues

My daughter and I have seperate iCloud mail accounts.  Her mail messages have started to show up in my mail  --  on my phone, iMac and on the web.  (My messages are still there too.)  This began after I bought a song for her from iTunes.  She does not have her own iTunes account but rather I buy her songs on her iPod using my account, just to have some parental control.  After buying it on iTunes, I saw her iPod in the list of devices associated with my iTunes account.  I may have made some changes in the "Summary" tab to create this problem.  Please help seperate our email accounts.  THANKS.

What you describe is not technically possible, so something else must be going on
Firstly, do you actually have completely independent iCloud accounts, which were setup independently using separate AppleIDs, or are you actually using different iCloud email aliases within the same iCloud account?
If you are using different iCloud aliases within the same account then you will receive each other's email. Aliases are not separate email accounts. All email to all aliases goes into the same InBox.
iTunes and iCloud are separate, so her iPod appearing in your iTunes is to be expected.
When you check in a Settings > iCloud on your devices are you each signed in to your respective iCloud accounts?

  • Mail App and IMAP sync issues

I am facing IMAP sync issues with Mail App ver 4.4. I have specified the automatic fetch interval as 1 minute. The problem is the App does not seem to send requests to the server to sync the Inbox folder alone, but it send requests to get STATUS and sync the other folders.
Has anyone else faced similar issues.
    Radha

Not many of us would set the interval to be only 1 minute -- too often for the speed of many connections. Have you tried 5 minutes to see if the behavior continues?

  • Having sync issues with Outlook 2011 since upgrading to Mavericks

    Hi All,
My work Macbook Pro 13" is having issues syncing my inbox and sent mail automatically. It's a hit or miss if I recieve emails in my inbox in a timely mannor with out pressing the Send/Recive button (even when i press it takes minutes to update). My Sent Items can show up an hour later  even if I hit the Send/Recieve button.
All my mail is there and shows up/syncs on my iPhone quickly. I upgraded to Mavericks right when it came out and have only been having these sync issues for the last week or so.
I've cleared my mail cache and that didn't work. My calandar reminders and contacts don't seem to have any issues and no other apps have been preforming slow or strangely.... just my VERY important work email. My tech guys are stumped and I wanted to try you guys before they do a major rehaul of my system
    Thanks!

A new Outlook Identity will most likely solve your issues. If you have any data under "On My Computer" folders, see this link:
How to move your data to a new Identity
BTW, how much free space on your drive? Use Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities to find this info. You need a minimum of 10% free but 15-20% is recommended.
Outlook gets very sluggish when you are low on disk space. If you have a bunch of older Identities from previous rebuilds you can delete these to help free up space.

  • Easy steps to troubleshoot the Outlook Email sync issue

One question about Outlook that has been asked the most is, why some emails don’t sync in Outlook? Or there should be an email received but why I can’t see it in Outlook?
On this topic, we’ve seen a lot of articles on Microsoft and some other 3rd-party web sites, usually the explanation and the troubleshooting steps are so long that we don’t know where to start. I’m writing this article to make something easier. Not an encyclopaedia
about Outlook sync issues, just a few things we can take a look at before something really “difficult”.
For Exchange Accounts to troubleshoot, of course, this Microsoft Knowledge Base is helpful:
How to troubleshoot synchronization problems when you synchronize your Exchange Server mailbox with your .ost file in Outlook
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842284/en-us
Here below I will introduce some common causes of the Emails not sync issues in Outlook, steps are based on Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, which are widely used nowadays.
    View
Here comes a user, who says “why don’t some emails appear in my Outlook?” Generally we think it may be caused since the sync process is not complete, but consider this scenario: The “missing” email has been received but the user just can’t see it, is
this possible? Yes, this is possibly caused by the custom view.
First please logon the webmail, or OWA for Exchange Accounts, to see whether the “missing” emails exist there, if yes, then let’s do the following:
Go to the folder where the emails should be displayed, switch to VIEW tab ->
Current View Group -> Click Reset View button. When it prompts to confirm, click
    Yes.
The emails magically appear! Why? That’s because you have set a custom view in this folder, such as a Filter in View Settings to let Outlook only show these emails that meet the criteria you have set. Once you click
Reset View, the View will reset and the Filter is wiped out. The emails can be displayed again.
One common symptom of this cause, is that you see a number beside the folder which indicates you have something unread, while you can’t find the unread items. Probably you have a custom view in Outlook that only allows the read items to show.
Another way to reset the View is to run Outlook with the command switch “/cleanviews”, which will restore default view and all custom views you created will be lost:
Press Win key + R, in the Run box, type “outlook.exe /cleanviews”, click
    OK or press Enter.
    Sync Filter
“Well, I can see the recent emails of the account in Outlook, but emails older than 3 months don’t show in Outlook, I can see these emails on Web, why?” It’s time to consider the Sync Filter.
Outlook has a feature that allows you to limit the amount of data that is synchronized locally to your .OST. The purpose of this feature is to make Outlook usable on devices that have limited or small amounts of local storage. This feature is called Sync
Filter. You can access the sync filter within your E-mail Server Settings under Account Settings.
We can choose the periods of emails we want to keep offline. Switch to
All to keep all emails to local so that they are not “missing”.
(Not all kinds of accounts can use this feature in all versions of Outlook, such as Exchanges Accounts don’t have Sync Filter in Outlook 2010)
    Send/Receive Groups
I can sync all folders but emails in one folder don’t sync properly, how does this happen? Please check the Send/Receive Settings.
Go to SEND / RECEIVE tab -> Send & Receive Group ->
Define Send/Receive Groups. We can configure the setting for send/receive here:
Highlight All Accounts, click Edit button, in the new dialog window, check if you have select the correct folder options as you need, you may have not selected the folder which emails are not received. Check the box and
click OK to save, it should be working fine then.
    Summary
When we talk about “sync”, we are talking about account types like Exchange, IMAP and Exchange ActiveSync. POP accounts don’t sync, they do a “download” instead, so it’s not talked about (However, some steps are applicable, like
    VIEW).
As mentioned above, this article just discusses the easy things we should look at before the deeper analysis, if you have tried all these suggestions but still have the sync problem, feel free to post the question in our forum:

Is there a work around way??????????
Not really. BIS service is not designed to reconcile to the Outlook on your PC as your former BES service did, or there would be no reason for BES, right?
The (dirty) workaround is to created rules in your Outlook and filters on your BIS account login whereby you BCC yourself all the sent-from-handheld mail which arrives in Outlook and by rule is moved to your sent folder.
Then, on the BIS account login site, you create a filter to not foward any message to your device which are addressed as beig from your own email address.
Likewise, any email sent from Outlook must be copied to yourself to receive on the BlackBerry device, however it won't end up in your sent items.

  • 10.9.2 gmail sync issue

Like many, I have been waiting for 10.9.2 to cure issues with the Mavericks Mail app when using gmail. Unfortunately, the sync issue has not changed.
Sometimes the Mail app will sync with gmail, but many times I have to close and restart the Mail app to get new email.
Why is it taking so long AFTER the OS release to discover and correct a fundamental bug in a fundamental app within an OS?

To rebuild you go to the Mail pulldown menu.   Mail ->  Mailbox -> Rebuild.   I believe the rebuild will only apply to the account associated with the inbox highlighted at the time the rebuild is done.
You can also try removing an account and recreating it, but I would try rebuilding first and see if that does it.
It looks like Don P. above also had his problems fixed by upgrading to 10.9.3, so I am hoping this does it for you!
I should note that Mac mail has frequently been slow finding new mail on my work Exchange server.   This preceeded 10.9.3 for as long as we had the Exchange server at work and continues with it.   The problem I had that was fixed by 10.9.3 was that every day or two Apple Mail would completely stop syncing to a Gmail account (I have two and the stoppages seemed uncorrelated).  In order to get the syncing to restart, I had to fully quit and restart mail.
    Good luck!
