Maintain smart folder structure when exporting

When exporting a project with albums the result is a folder structure that matches (the project is at the root with multiple dirs underneath that correspond to the albums). However when I do this with smart albums within a project the result is just a single directory with all images crammed in that one directory. Is there a way around this? I wa

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can connect the two computers so that the iPhoto Library on each can be accessed by the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager (residing on one of the two Macs) and then copy the albums or events, including keywords, descriptions and titles from the laptop library to the desktop Mac.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. • Preserving Folder Structure when Exporting?--A question

A very simple need that I have: I have a Folder in IPhoto on my laptop, left over from a recent trip. The Folder is organized into ten "Albums, which are trip segments. All I want to do is to Export [or Copy] this Folder on an external hard drive, for security purposes and to Import the Folder [and Albums] into IPhoto on my primary desktop computer.
I can export all the contents of the Folder, but I have struggled to find a way to do this that preserves the organization of the Albums inside the Folder. What I end up with is all 652 photos [in this example] in one huge sequential order.
Please advise what I can do to export and maintain the Folder structure. Thanks!!

  • Preserve folder structure when exporting JPGs?

Is there a way to preserve the folder structure of a catalog when exporting JPGs of everything to a new location? I know there is an option to save the export into the same folder as the original file, but i am talking about a completely new location. That would be really helpful.

Lightroom doesn't support it directly. However, try this plug-in http://photographers-toolbox.com/blog/2009/06/exporting-a-folder-hierarchy-from-lightroom- lrtreeexporter-released/

  • Preserving Folder Structure When Exporting

    Hello,
I recently bought a fancy new hard drive and I would love to export my photos onto there. I have lovingly organised my photos within Aperture using its folders, projects etc, however, the same can not be said for the masters on the harddrive which are organised appalingly.
Is it possible to export all the photos while conserving the Aperture file structure, which could be viewed in Finder?
On a sideline, would it be possible to then use the hard drive to use as a aperture library, retaining edits and versions within Aperture?
    Thanks for any help,

  • Need to batch convert PDF to RTF while maintaining original folder structure

I'm using Acrobat Pro 9 and I need a way to batch convert PDF files to RTF while maintaining the original folder structure.  So for instance, I might get a set of interview transcripts that were conducted with members of 1000 randomly selected households in 3 different cities.  Something like this, where the words in all caps are folder names:
    BOSTON
           HH1001
                PERSON-1A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-2A
                        Interview1.pdf

    DETROIT

As u can see, the folder structure can get quite complicated and it's important to keep it the same.  Is there any way I can batch convert without having to open all 1000 files at once (which would crash the computer) or without having to add each subfolder to the Export Multiple Files window?
I also tried saving the original folders and files in a portfolio and then converting the portfolio, but that puts all the converted files in a single folder.

    Bernd Alheit wrote:

Yes, I've done that many times.  It doesn't put them in the correct folder structure, it just puts all the new files in the highest-level folder.

There is a workaround to move from 1.5 version to the older 1.4 version. But this could be specific to the browser setting the JRE version.
    Excerpts from sun docs:
However, a user can still run older versions. To do so, launch the Java Plug-in Control Panel for the older version, then (re)select the browser in the Browser tab.
    Example:
Assume you are running on Microsoft Windows with Microsoft Internet Explorer, have first installed version 1.4.2, then version 5.0, and you want to run 1.4.2.
Go to the j2re1.4.2\bin directory where JRE 1.4.2 was installed. On a Windows default installation, this would be here: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\bin
Double-click the jpicpl32.exe file located there. It will launch the control panel for 1.4.2.
Select the Browser tab. Microsoft Internet Explorer might still appear to be set (checked). However, when 5.0 was installed, the registration of the 1.4.2 JRE with Internet Explorer was overwritten by the 5.0 JRE.
If Microsoft Internet Explorer is shown as checked, uncheck it and click Apply. You will see a confirmation dialog stating that browser settings have changed.
Check Microsoft Internet Explorer and click Apply. You should see a confirmation dialog.
Restart the browser. It should now use the 1.4.2 JRE for conventional APPLET tags.
    Details are here
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/jcp.html
My system (Windows XP) has the version 1.5_09 set as the default. However i just installed JRE 1.5_06 and would like to revert back to _06 as the default JRE..
Will update if i find more information

  • Problem with Office document structure when exporting in Windows vs full-text indexing in SQL Server

We are creating reports with Crystal Report for .Net. We both have a Windows and a Web application connecting to our database. The problem occurs only with the Windows application. We create a report and in the dialog that appears, we choose to export the report in MS Word format. Everythinglooks fine because after we save the document, MS Word is able to open and display the document. However, when we decide to add this Word document in the database in a table that has a image column bound to a full-text indexing schema, that document is never indexed. After fiddling around for a few hours, we realized that the Word document produced during the export is not a true Word document but rather a RTF document that was given a ".doc" extension. Is there a way to have a real Word document when exporting in Windows. The problem does not arise in Web because when we export, the report is displayed in Internet Explorer through the Office plugin. The Office plugin knows how to same a real Word document.
There is also a problem when exporting to Excel in Windows. It does not yield the same structure as in Web. The format of the export in Windows is not compatible with the Office IFilter of SQL Server 2000/2005, therefore the content is not available for search queries.
Any patches to fix this problem?

  • Sapinst generated an empty directory structure when exporting DB

I try to use SAPINST (i.e. db-independent) exporting a DB.
However, even it is done without any error, only an empty folder structure is generated:
folder     ABAP  ( which is empty)
    file:         LABELIDX.ASC
I remember about 2 years ago, I had to copy the migration monitor related *.SAR files into the sapinst directory and then
start export_monitor.sh to kick off the background exporting job which generated the export dump.  However I cannot find
    that document I made then.
    Could you help recall?

There are 2 sapinst at SMP for 701.
I have tried the newer one sapinst 701_2.
    Please advise.

  • Retaining folder structure when importing videos

Having created a new library just for my videos I want to import them but without copying into iTunes. I know how to do that.
But I do not know how to reflect the folder structure  in iTunes. What I mean is this:
My videos are in several folders (which happen to be at the same level) e.g.
    <European vacations> <North American Vacations> <Cruises> .....
When I Add to library or drag and drop the individual videos are imported but the structure ofthe folders is not. (so far as Ican tell)
Is there any way to do this so that I can navigate to a folder using iTunes?
It is my intention to buy an AppleTV to hook up to my LAN and HD TV.
Right now I'm using another piece of SW and I cna navigate the folders.

    -3rd Movement
    -4th Movement

    -song2
    -song3
    -etc.
    Eat A Peach>
    -song1

But I can't figure out how to load all this music into iTunes while retaining the folder structure, it just dumps them all together in the main playlist...

  • Folder Structure Archiving: exporting folder structure + content

    Hi,
I would like to copy a part of an existing folder structure (with included contents) from a production UCM 11g instance (I'm using Folder_g) to a development instance (using a tar of the newly created archive).
I'm trying to use Folder Structure Archiving component.
    I'm using the guide:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e10792/c06_migration.htm#CHDFHEEI
Now, I successfully executed step 6. of "8.10.3.1 Creating a Folder Structure Archive".
However if I list on filesystem the newly created archive, what can I only see is the archive.hda file (...without references to selected folders) and no contents.
Contents was exported?...if yes, where I can found them?...if no, how can I export them?
What I expected to have is a "regular" archive as produced by the Archiver tool...
    I'm missing something?
Any helps will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Best regards.
    Simone.

    Hi Simone,
I was also facing the same issue. You can try one thing, create an archive folder in your source ucm server through archiver. In the Export Data tab specify the custom query as -> xCollectionId = <Your Folder Collection Id>.You can get the collection id of your folder by seeing the preview without specifying any query and then select the extra column 'Folder' to see in the table. In this way you can export the content for the selected folder.
After that, go to the Folder Structure Archive tool and select the archive you just now have created and then slect the folder structure you want to archive.
This is not the correct way but you can try.
    Thanks,
    Sachin

  • Routing from Drop Off library - How to maintain same folder structure in target library after routing

    Hello,
After routing from drop off library to other target library, how can I maintain folder structure dynamically.
    For example
Inside Drop off library user creates folder on monthly basis
    1. Drop Off > Feb > Document 1
    2. Drop Off > March > Document 1
Now after routing i want to have same folder structure created inside target library. So target should library look like
    Target Lib > Feb > Document 1
    Target Lib > March > Document 1
Please Note - folder creation in drop off library happens every month, and user can choose any Name for these folders, so here I can not consider Static Routing rules.
    Kindly help me out.
    Thanks!!!
    Mayank Nigam

The content organizer can't do that. If you really need this functionality, you'll need a workflow to do it. But you also need to consider if the use of folders per month is really what you want here. Maybe you'd prefer to use metadata instead of folders
    for grouping.

  • Can't see folder structure when PDF folder in Lotus notes

    Hi All,
We are using Lotus Notes 8.5 with Adobe Acrobat Professional 9.  In the Lotus Notes client, this one user clicks on the "Convert Selected folders to PDF', and a box comes up asking her to select the folders she wants to convert.
The problem we run into is that you cannnot see the folder structure in the box.  You only see the dots and boxes that outline the structure. This is inside her FOLDERS folder.  I uploaded a picture. Hopefully you can see it.
    Thanks!

Have you tried recreating the site definition in Dreamweaver? Sometimes stuff happens and the Dreamweaver site definition gets corrupted - and then all sorts of stuff can go wonky (like folders not showing up correctly).

  • Is there any way to maintain the folder structure using the audio converter

    hi, please, i need help
I want to convert some 24 bit wav files into 24 bit Apple Lossless files.
dBpoweramp converter doesn't allow 24 bit files for Apple Lossless
iTunes doesn't keep the folder structure, is there any option to change that?
    thanks

When iTunes does a format conversion, it stores the new file in an Album folder within an Artist folder. It does not matter where the original file is. It does not provide any other option.

  • HT2729 How can I maintain folder structure when copying more than 1 folder of videos to the iphone?

Spent hours trying to figure this out - no luck!
I have a video tutorial course that I would like to be able to view on my iPhone, the only problem is that it is broken down into 6 folders - 1 for each subject.
And if I add the whole course to be synced via iTunes it gets copied ok. But it loses the original folder names that the files are stored in on my PC
ALL the videos files copied to the iPhone are bunched togeather in the Video app and it takes forever to figure out which one comes next.
How can I maintain the original folder names/structure that the files are stored in on my PC on the iPhone?

To follow how I solved this it might be good to know what I started with:
    I have a main folder which I called 'Music Theory' and  6 sub-folders: 101, 102, 103, ....etc.
with up to 20 or so videos in each one.
Note: Only import one sub-folder at a time into iTunes and then do all the following actions BEFORE importing the next sub-folder:
Add only 1 sub-folder to the 'Films' section in iTunes (either drag and drop or use the File - Add Folder to Library).
Select all the imported videos (hold down the Ctrl + A keys on the keyboard simultainiously).
Right click and select 'Get Info'
Then you may get a pop-up with this text but just click the 'Yes' button:
You should now have the 'Multiple Item Information' window showing. Click on the 'Options' tab and edit as below:
Tick: 'Media Kind'               and from the Drop Down Box choose:  'TV Programme'
Tick: 'Part of a Compilation'   and from the Drop Down Box choose: 'Yes'
Tick: 'Remember Position'        and from the Drop Down Box choose: 'Yes'
Now click on the 'Video' Tab of the 'Multiple Item Information' window and edit:
The 'Programme' text field (I entered Music Theory) This will be the main heading for all the folders that I want to add to this series.
The 'Series' text field (I entered 101 for the first sub-folder)
    Now click the 'OK' button.
iTunes now starts processing all you have done and moves the vildeos to the 'TV Progammes' section.
The first part is now done!
Now you should repeat all the actions you have done from the start on each sub-folder you want to include in this Video collection, then when you've done that you can upload the lot to your device (iPhone in my case) with this last step:
All you need to do now is select your device under 'Devices' in the left hand menu and tick the 'Sync TV Progammes' box in the 'TV Progammes' section and select the series that you want include in the right hand area. And then click 'Apply' and now your done!!!    :-)

  • Can Plan Layout in Muse be carried through to a site's folder structure when hosted on a 3rd party site?

I've reworked a site in Muse (desktop version only, at this stage).  Some of my pages in the old site had very high organic search results in Google, so I need to keep the file structure of the new site the same.  Since I published the Muse version of my site a few days ago, the number of visitors has literally dropped to just 10% of what it usually is!
Muse seems to create only a flat site (all pages are created directly in the root folder only), and the Plan structure in Muse does NOT carry through to the file structure of the site when published with "Upload to FTP host" .   I am concerned that the Plan layout is only concerned with menu auto-fill functionality, and does not reflect any physical structure.
Any solutions?  Am I doing something wrong, or is this a limitation of Muse?
