Make Custom (Run-Time Error Dialog Box)

I  would like to Customize the  Run-Time Error Dialog Box
bcos I want to use  H/Wbuttons (need to Init  the H/W) & not mouse to navigate thr the box
is the  Dialog box available in Labview also

Hello aparab,
You won't be able to edit the dialog in LabVIEW for sure. Not sure if NI provide CVI / C++ source for that.
You can have your own dialog by handling the run-time error using SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError callback. Look at this example:
http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370052M-01/tsexamples/infotopics/callbacks_sequencefileposts...
The example ships with TestStand as mentioned in the above link. You just have to use the information which will be in Parameters.Step container for error details and to customise your dialog.

  • Break execution after custom run-time error handler callback

    I am using Teststand 2010 SP1 and have written a custom runtime error handler based on the ErrorHandlerExample example that ships with TestStand. It has been implemented as a StationPostStepRuntimeError callback in my Station Callbacks folder.  I have modified the example as follows:
    (1) Added code to turn off the UUT transmitter if it was on.
    (2) Added a call to an executable that sends an email to the currently logged in user.
    (3) Calls the standard TestStand run-time error dialog using the Engine DisplayRunTimeErrorDialog method.
    (4) Processes the user's selection, then turns on the UUT transmitter for any option other then Abort.
    The callback also checks the status of the Break and "Don't Show again for this execution" options selected by the user.  If the user selects Break then the only option I can find is to call the API Execution.Break() method which breaks the execution right there in my callback. The user then has to single step there way out of the callback.   Is there a way of instructing TestStand to complete the callback execution and break immediately after completing the callback (i.e.at the step following the error)?  I've zipped up and attached my modified sequence.
    Alternatively, is there a better way of doing this?

    David

    Didn't have a chance to try it yet but maybe StepOut is your solution?
    From the TS Help:
    StepOut Method
    Syntax
    Execution.StepOut
    Purpose
    Resumes the execution from a suspended state and then suspends the execution again after execution of the current sequence completes.

  • Custom run time error message into C# UI

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get the error message for the last step into my C# UI (using TestStand3.5).
    I've tryed the GetRunTimeErrorMessage in the UIMsg_Trace message event, but it doesn't work.
    Probably I should use the PostStepRunTimeError callback instead? Is there a sample code available in C# using it?

    I'm getting the error code and the message, se below, but I also want to get the location info as in the standard TS error popup.
    The boolean Occurred parameter seems to be false even if I get an error. Is it reset to false or something?
    int frameID = 0;
    errorCode = axExecutionViewMgrs[index].Thread.GetSequenceContext(0, out frameID).AsPropertyObject().GetValNumber("Parameters.ErrorLoad.Code", 0);
    details = axExecutionViewMgrs[index].Thread.GetSequenceContext(0, out frameID).AsPropertyObject().GetValString("Parameters.ErrorLoad.Msg", 0);
    location = axExecutionViewMgrs[index].Thread.GetSequenceContext(0, out frameID).AsPropertyObject().GetValBoolean("Parameters.ErrorLoad.Occurred", 0);

  • Run Time Errors (Don't show this dialog again...)

    We often create some long TestStand (TS 4.0) sequences and run them overnight or weekend.  Occasionally, for one reason or another, we may see the "Run Time Error" messagebox pop up, stopping the test sequence.
    If you then select the checkbox in the Run Time Error window "Don't show this dialog again for this execution", the sequence will continue.
    Is there a way to set up TestStand to ALWAYS ignore the Run Time Errors and just generate a failure error instead?
         Setup for TestStand as a confuguration?
    or
         Setup as a command in our Custom Steps?
    Mikef

    Hi Mikef,
    One solution would be to use the SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError callback sequence. Have a look at the example ErrorHandlerExample.seq in the TestStand\Examples\Callbacks\PostStepRuntimeErrorCallback folder.
    Obviously you wont what a dialog to appear, but using the callback, you can reset the Step.Result.Error, maybe set the status and record that an error did occur in the Steps ReportText.
    Hope this helps.

  • When i put an artist in the search box it crashes . I get a run time error.  Why?

    When I put an artist into the search box  of the itunes store my computer gives me a run time error and says itunes has stopped working.  Windows will notify you with a solution.  They never notify me . I can play my music library with no problem but lately when I listen to music samples from the itunes store  I constantly get a rebuffering notice.  Now I can't even get that far  My internet speed is fine.  I checked with my carrier.  I am thinking I may need to reinstall itunes completely but do I have to back up my library? Or is it in the itunes cloud?

    The subscript error I get does obviously relate to the array, but I know in advance how much data will be transfered, 500 data points of a trace and I have DIM the array just prior to the transfer code, in the same subroutine. Also I have attemped to make the transfer a for next loop and it I get the same error at the start of the loop? The has to be another cause of this problem.

    Hi,
    I have implemented SAP Note 1531799, but it hasn't resolved the current issue.
    For Our GTS instance, there are 2 Feeder Systems (ECC) attached, but document transfer in one of the system has not been activated. Both having the same partner functions ( We copied the sandbox into 2 different instances for different business Testings and now these 2 instances attached to GTS for testing). These feeder systems have different Logical system names and Logical system groups.
    Recently i have implemented SAP Corrections manually for one the issue, Please see below thread for the detail information

  • Custom Run-Time Menu error when named "FileMenu.rtm"

    Discovered an interesting "feature" (error?) in LabVIEW 2009 when using custom run-time file menus.
    If you create a custom run-time menu (.rtm) and name it "FileMenu.rtm" the menu will not function correctly in executable format.
    In my LabVIEW Project, any VIs which called this custom file menu worked correctly in the project, but when I built an executable, the VIs defaulted to the default file menu.  This was not due to a corrupted .rtm file or the file not being included in the executable.  Instead after extensive debugging I determined that the name "FileMenu.rtm" is somehow reserved in LabVIEW and any executables that are built have the custom run-time menu overwritten by the default.  The tricky part of this error is that it goes unnoticed while the code is still in development and only presents itself after being built into an executable.
    Simply changing the name of the file fixed the executable run-time menu.

    Chris,
    Thanks for trying it out.  It seems that my forum post may have been a bit rushed.
    I tried to duplicate the problem in a new project from scratch and similarly was unable to reproduce it.  I will try more soon, and in doing so perhaps reveal the true underlying problem.  I would post the original code but it is proprietary.
    I was running LabVIEW 2009 and Windows XP when the problem first presented itself.  I updated to LabVIEW 2009 SP1 as part of my debugging and the problem still presented itself.

  • How to display "Non-Fatal Run-Time Error In Function Panel" dialog?

    I'm learning how to develop an IVI-C specific driver using LabWindows/CVI. When I run my function from its function panel and it returns an error, I would like to display a dialog with both the error code and error message (as opposed to simply returning an error code on the function panel). This would save the user from having to call Prefix_error_message() to translate the error code to its error message. NI-DCPower driver is a good example of this behavior (see attached error dialog). How do I show the "Non-Fatal Run-Time Error In Function Panel" dialog? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    ErrorDialog.png ‏8 KB

    Hi Shawn,
    Thank you for replying to my post. The checkErr is just an error handling macro defined in ivi.h to goto Error: tag when the function returns a non-zero value. I have been using the checkErr macro (as well as viCheckErr and other macros) in my driver.
    Using the same hp34401a specific driver as an example, please allow me to explain my question in more details:
    Let's take the hp34401a_close function as an example. It is a simple function with only a few lines of code:
    When the hp34401a_close function is run from its front panel using an invalid session handle (e.g. "8" in this screen capture):
    You will get three "Non-Fatal Run-Time Error" popup dialogs, one from each of the IVI library functions that it calls: Ivi_LockSession, Ivi_UnlockSession, and Ivi_Dispose. However, there is no "Non-Fatal Run-Time Error" popup dialog from the hp34401a_close itself.
    My IVI-C specific driver is behaving identical to the hp34401a specific driver.
    In comparison, if run niDCPower_close function from its front panel using an invalid session handle (using the same "8" in this screen capture):
    You will only get one "Non-Fatal Run-Time Error In Function Panel" from the niDCPower_close function itself:
    I think the behavior of niDCPower driver is much better than the hp34401a driver. It replaces the three "Non-Fatal Run-Time Error" popup dialogs from the IVI library with a single "Non-Fatal Run-Time Error In Function Panel" popup dialog from the driver function itself. I would like to do the same thing with my driver but have not figured out how to display a "Non-Fatal Run-Time Error In Function Panel" dialog. Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Run-time error 53 File not found (makes BI Publisher quite unuseable!)

    Upgraded to BIP v 10.1.3.3.2
    Open a template with the template builder
    Load a source XML file
    Proceed to choose Insert-> Field....
    Microsoft message pops up:
    Microsoft Visual Basic
    Run-time error '53':
    File Not Found.
    This error, according to Microsoft and other technical sources SHOULD actually tell you what the file is that isn't found, however when run through the template builder, it never tells you any file name, just the above error message!
    I saw one other post on this forum about this problem, and it was related to the Java Home, so I went to TOOLS-> OPTIONS and my java home there is:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_12
    So this should be high enough JRE version.
    ANy suggestions? What file or *.DLL can it not find? We have many people at a client (and me!) that have this issue.
    -Greg

    Pradeep,
    I am not trying to utilize the desktop template builder to log onto BIP enterprise.
    I am using it in an E-business suite environment, not a standalone BIP enterprise reporting environment. I simply use it right now to develop templates when I have valid XML to work with.
    Many other features are working, but any features that seem to be new such as repeating group, conditional region, conditional format, the insert field palet, among others.
    ANY feature that requires a .net service to be kicked off works only 10% of the time.

    Hi all,
    I've a requirement wherein I need to have a custom screen in place of 'standard user decision' task in the UWL of MSS portal. I've developed a custom screen with Approve and Reject buttons and it works fine if I execute the work item from SAP inbox whereas in portal (UWL), it gives a run time error stating,

    An exception occurred while processing your request
    Exception id: 10:56_12/05/08_0020_509163550.
    I'm sure that this error is due to missing configuration between the dynpro and the Portal. All inputs in this regard will be of great help and will be valuable to me.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi
    Looking at the error message I feel like there is something wrong in the task object and object method. You are using a class in the task make sure that class has the IF_WORKFLOW. Mak sure the task is enabled with synchronous task method check box.

    Hello Experts,
    I have customized masthead file. In the masthead, when i click the log off link, the pop-up window will showing the Runtime error message. Its not working properly. I didnt make any changes in log off method. I traced the error,

                   if(EPCM.getGlobalDirty())

                        // data saved, nothing get lost on the page, display normal dialog
                      var val = window.showModalDialog('<%=GetLogoffConfirmMsgURL(componentRequest)%>', '', '<%=LOGOFF_CONFIRM_MSG_ARGS_IE%>');

    In this code having if condition if(EPCM.getGlobalDirty()) is set as true means, then only properly executed and it shows the Log off message. In my part it goes to the else part. Then it shows run time error message.
    I cannt able to find out the solution.Pls help me in this regarding.

  • Automatic Retry run-time error step in TestStand

    Hi, I am using an instrument at many places in my sequence (let's say 5 times). I am using the Labview instrument driver. Sometimes (every 50 calls), the instrument driver call gives me a run-time error because the instrument is somehow busy. But usually by doing a retry on the step that caused the run-time error, it works. However, in few cases, the instrument is really defective. In order to make my sequence more robust, I want all that handled in TestStand (I want the operator to stay away from the big grey popup. Many of them freaks out when they see this…). I was thinking adding 2 callbacks to my sequence: 1)        Post run-time error: a.        If local “index” == 1, run cleanupb.        If “index” == 0, retry the current step (by manipulating the current step id)c.        Incrementing “index” to 12)        Post step:a.        If step.Result.Status != “Èrror”, ”index” = 0 Index is a local variable in my sequence This algo might work, but is there another way of doing this? You can loop on the failures, but not on the errors.
    Thanks
    Alexandre

    Alexandre,
    there are many ways to accomplish your task.
    Here's a small list:
    - Disable default error handling and "do error handling in your sequence" (using gotos with precondition)
    - Use the SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError Callback
    - Handle the retry-functionality within your codemodule
    I'd suggest you to choose either the second or third option. As Juergen already stated, you can alter the behaviour of TS in regard to runtime errors. The default behaviour displays a dialog asking the operator on how to react. On automated systems, this setting is nonsense, therefore it is suggested to switch to "Run Cleanup". I wouldn't choose any other setting here.
    Using the Callback Sequence is nice since it can be used in a very general way and you can call certain alternativ test strategies if the instrument fails to work.
    Implementing the error handling within the codemodule nevertheless optimizes execution times and could be better in other aspects as well. But on the other side, you have to deside what should happen if the error cannot be solved by the module itself.....
    hope this helps,
