Make pictures loop faster than music on menu

On the menu of a dvd I'm making, I have a one and a half minute song and pictures that loop in the background. However, the theme I'm using ("Modern") only allows me to use a maximum of three pictures, and because of the length of the song, each picture lasts thirty seconds, which is much too long. So what I'd like to do is either add more drop zones (this would be ideal, but I don't know if it's possible), or make the pictures loop faster than the music.
If either of these is possible (preferably the first), I'd love to know how.

Sorry, it is what it is.

  • Can the WD Raptor make my 2.0 Dual faster than my new 2.3 Dualcore?

A few weeks ago I had asked what would make my machine at work - 2.3 Dualcore w/2GB of RAM - slower than my home machine; 2.0 DP w/2.5GB of RAM.
The new Dualcore was unreasonably slow and I followed the few suggestions to wipe the drive, which brought it up to snuff... but I still find it slower than my 2.0 at home. At simple tasks (contextual menu pop-ups, software loading, etc...) as well as more complex Photoshop and 3D tasks.
It's not the very last generation 2.0, but the one prior, e.g. 8GB of RAM capable, PCI-Express, and liquid cooling, etc...
I doubt the .5 of RAM can make that much difference, is the WD Raptor the difference and am I just spoiled by it?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    -Vincent

So you have a Raptor as boot in your home based Dual Processor and it seems faster than the faster Dual Core you have at work.
That's understandable, especially since the Dual Core most likely has a 7,200 RPM 250 GB slow drive (and more filled being at work, using more fonts?), plus the Dual Core shares a fronside bus, unlike the Dual Processor which has one for each. Photoshop pre-CS2 swaps memory to disk, so a faster boot drive will help. (Tiger overrides CS2's RAM limit, so more RAM will give better performance)
At home you have the Raptor as boot and most of your user files on the second drive I'm assuming, allowing you to access two drives at once using two busses.
Of course CPU intensive tasks the Dual Core 2.3 should beat the Dual 2, but since Mac OS X is heavy boot drive speed dependant (caches, swaps etc) the "User Interface feel" should be more responsive on your Dual 2, giving you the impression it's faster.
Big fat filled slow boot drives really cripple Mac OS X performance (NAND RAM coming?)

  • How to make a video and picture loop

I am trying to make a loop of video footage and pictures for my personal training studio to play in the foyer constantly. How do I do this. I am using itunes from my desk top to the apple tv. I cant figure out how to get photos and videos on my itunes library. THen how do you organize them and make it loop? Thanks to anyone who can help.

If you want to make a video loop you would need to use iMove, or some other video editing app for that.  Then add that video to iTunes under movies.

  • How can I get tracks to play faster than normal speed in itunes?

I have lectures, audio books, and other recordings that I would like to play at faster than normal speed (like 1.5X or 2X normal speed).   I've set all of these recordings as audio books because I read that they have the option to play faster, but, I can't find how to actually make them play faster.  I also read that it's possible to open them in quicktime, but that is very much less than ideal and a waste of time.  Surely there is a way to do this in itunes, but I can't figure it out.
    Thanks for any help.

I will show you how I played my audio or mp3 files at any particular speed. This method will allow you to simply enter in your desired speed.(ex. 1.5 or 1.33)
In my case Im using an audio book [Lord of the flies] I download off youtube as a MP3 file using this program:
    http://download.cnet.com/MediaHuman-YouTube-to-MP3-Converter/3000-2140_4-7544580 3.html
First off,  you will need to make sure your audio file is open in QuickTime player rather then iTunes. First you need to locate the audio file. If your audio file is in itunes then right click the file and select "Show in Finder"
The file should open in a finder window, highlighted. Right click the file, go to "Open With.." And click Quicktime Player. (If quickTime Player is not an option, you need to go to "Other..." and select QuickTime Player from your Applications folder)
Now that your mp3 file is open in a QuickTime window you may proceed to step 1.
    1) Open Finder
    2) Click Applications
    3) Click Utilities
    4) Open AppleScript Editor
    5) In the program copy and paste the script below.
    6) Click "Compile"
    7) Now to test this script, click "Run" A window should pop up prompting you to enter your desired speed (default is 1.5)
    8) press "OK" and quick time should start playing your audio at the speed you entered in.
    9) If you would like to use this script again, go to File > Save... >Name your AppleScript and save it Anywhere (I saved mine in the Music Folder for easy access)
    tell application "iTunes"
    pause
set myTrack to location of current track
    # the player’s position within the currently playing track in seconds
    set mySeconds to player position
    end tell
    # show a Dialog
    set SpeedFactor to 1.5
display dialog "Enter speed factor:" default answer SpeedFactor
set SpeedFactor to text returned of the result
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
    activate
    # pause all previously opened documents
    set open_docs to documents
    repeat with doc in open_docs
    pause doc
    end repeat
    # open the track just played in iTunes
    open myTrack
    # get the 'QuickTime' document, MyTrack should be equivalent but it isn't
    set MyMovie to first document
    # rewind by 10 seconds
    if mySeconds > 10 then
set mySeconds to mySeconds - 10
    end if
    # set current time
set current time of MyMovie to mySeconds
    # set Speed Factor and start playing
set rate of MyMovie to SpeedFactor
    end tell

  • Any Program to sort by keywords faster than CS-PS6-Bridge For Keyword Search?

To sort by keywords in (CS-PS6)-Bridge  one has to group all your folders under one overall folder. Then when you search by keywords (CS-PS6)-Bridge opens up all the photos in Bridge which take  avery long time. Since Lightroom Smart Previews open up smaller files will it open up all ones pictures faster? and then can it sort by keywords.
I am assuming Lightroom  smart preview opens up a larger size file than CS6-PS-6-Bridge and thus is even slower.
So the question becomes are there Any Program to sort by keywords faster than CS-6-Bridge For Keyword Search? i.e A program that doesn't have to open up a file to look at keywords or a way to open smaller thumbnails in Bridge?

    Really?
You mean you can't just click on the Magnifying Glass in the Search Box like I can?
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    And then Select Rating?
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
And then click on the Third Dot and it will become a Star?
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
Or even use a Smart Album? File -> new Smart Album: My Rating -> is -> And there's click on the third dot to make it a star trick again?

  • Strange AIR performance; == faster than ===

    Hi.
I have been hunting down some strange memory usage in one of our games, and tracked it down to numbers being compared to 0.0 in a loop.
I have concentrated the observations down to a small profile snippet.
    Observations:
    1) I expected the first two profiles to take the same amount of time as everything is typed. But comparing a Number that is a natural is a LOT faster. (only true on desktop and android).
Why is this, is the jitted versions storing Numbers that are natural (whole numbers) as integers, and thus causing a log of type conversion (and memory allocations)?
    2) I have been told (and experienced on iOS) that using the === operator is faster than == when a type coercion is possible, test 1+2 vs. 3+4 shows that this is not always the case on some of the platforms.
Is this normal? have I messed up something when building my air apps? If this is reproducible, can somebody with better knowledge of the internals of the AIR runtime explain when it's better to use === over == (for performance).

  • How to make clips play faster/slower?

Hi, I recorded a road while driving on it. I want to use it for the beginning of a video but I don't want it to play at real-time speed. I want it to move faster than real time. How can I make this happen on imovie? how do I compress the clip (about 10 minutes) into something more like 5 minutes? I don't want to cut the clip, I want to play the whole thing but I want it to just move faster. It would also be cool because this way I could also learn to make things go in slow motion.

How can I make this happen on imovie?
If you want to do this from within iMovie, use the previous version. Basically, playback speed can be modified by adding your video to an audio clip having a duration or selected segment duration for which you want the video to play and scaling it to the duration of the audio using the QT Pro "Add to Selection & Scale" Edit menu option. You can also reset the playback using the fee JES Deinterlacer utility. (Search the forum for URL to Karsten Schlüter's site area where he has documented many common "Tips and Tricks" for use with iMovie '08.)

I was wondering if there is any top free app for cleaning up  the computer from malware, phinishing apps, adware, and othere malicious softwares and make it run faster while booting, on startup and while surfing web. I am using a Macbook pro  with IOS10.8.5, under chrome, safari, firefox net environment. thanks on your help

I was wondering if there is any top free app for cleaning up ...
There is no such thing, since the problems you are describing can have various causes. Seeking anything claiming to "clean" your Mac is asking for trouble, since all of those products are scams, whether they are "free" or not.
If you are having trouble with your Mac, describe what it is. Be as specific as possible. For general recommendations read below.
There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in neglecting point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up", "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements.
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iCloud, iTunes, or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose:Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
The same precaution applies to Adobe Flash Player. Newly discovered Flash vulnerabilities appear almost weekly.
Beware spontaneous popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > check "Block popup windows".
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but unsolicited popups are commonly used to deceive people into installing unwanted software they would never intentionally install.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever receive a popup window indicating that your Mac is infected with some ick or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
The same goes for a spontaneously appearing dialog insisting that you upgrade your video player right this instant. Such popups are frequently associated with sites that promise to deliver "free" movies or other copyrighted content that is not normally "free".
The more insistent it is that you upgrade or install something, the more likely it is to be a scam. Close the window or tab and forget it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. Most of these attempts are pathetic and are easily recognized, but that hasn't stopped prominent public figures from recently succumbing to this age-old scam.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • If i export my project, it runs much faster than in the canvas. How can I fix that?

If i export my project, it runs much faster than in the canvas. How can I fix that?
I'm from germany, sorry for my english!

When you export your project, it is "compiled" into video format. Any player will play it at its frame rate.
Motion is a compositing application. It has to make many more times the calculations needed to animate everything and 90% of the time, it's just not possible for Motion to keep up with "real time".  It's to be expected. Learning to live with that fact will make life a lot easier for you, I promise.
There are a few things you can do to help speed up Motion:
Reduce temporary play ranges to no more than about 5 seconds at a time. You can move the Play Range In and Out markers from section to section. Motion does all of its real time rendering in RAM. The longer the play range, to more it has to work managing that memory.
Remove Preview Icons from the Layers list ( View menu > Layers Columns > Preview will toggle the views)
When you play your animation, turn off on screen guides: (command - / will toggle onscreen guides)
In Motion 5, reducing the quality of playback from the Render menu does not make a lot of difference anymore, so you might as well keep the default settings of Dynamic, Full and Normal on. However, Motion Blur, Frame Blending, Field Rendering, as well as the lighting options will affect playback, sometimes by quite a lot. So if you have Lights, turning off Lighting, Shadows, and Reflections will get back a lot of real time playback speed (just remember to turn on all that you need before rendering, or these things will be left out of the export!)

  • Faster than 2000Hz / TCP takes too long

    1. How can we get faster than 500µs (2000Hz) on an PXI RT-8145 System? 502µs,501µs works fine, but 500 or lower the System doesnt respond. We loose connection to the RT System, also the RT-System Manager doesn´t respond. It doesn´t make any difference which VI we use. With 501µs we have an CPU usage about 91%.
    2. If our program start´s, it takes always 1.24min to connect over TCP/IP. We tried all timing an loop-rates, but it´s always the same time.Message Edited by prol on 04-11-2005 07:58 AM

Could you describe in a bit more detail your application, including the code running in your host aplication and the code running in LV RT on the 8145 controller.
What type of I/O operations are your performing?
I assume you want to communicate between the host and LV RT application at 2000 Hz or faster? Why do you need these fast loop rates in your communication? What is the overall purpose of the application? In general TCP/IP is not well suited for fast loop rates, i.e. sending small packets back and forth at high rates. it is more designed for streaming data, sedning larger packets at high data rates in one direction. It sounds like you may be trying to setup a closed loop controller across Ethernet which will have a maximum looop rate around the rates you are describing.
On your second question, please describe what you mean by 'program starts'. What is the sequence of operation on the host and RT system? Do you reboot or start either of these two systems at this time? How is you Ethernet configured? Specifically how are IP addresses assigned to the two systems? Do you have a DHCP server on the network or are the IP addresses statically assigned? If neither is true, Windows will take about a minute to a minute and half to assign its own IP addresses.

  • PowerMac faster than intel Mac when running video programs?

Hello everyone! Having a question now so wonder if any of you have the same experience?
Recently i have many video works to do. I have a powerbook, which is the lasted 17inch powerbook and an intel imac (early 2008, 2.66GHz). I run the same version of finalcut pro and compressor. But thing become very strange, which is that when i run compressor to make final video files, my powerbook is much faster (about 2 times faster) than intel iMac. When i run XDCAM program to import video clips to finalcut from Sony XDCAM blueray reader, powerbook is also much more faster than intel iMac, and which is about 10time more faster than intel iMac. So it become very strange. I list my configurations below, and any of you can help me to solve the 'problem' or explain the strange fenominal.
Maybe theres anything wrong with software configurations, any one can also help me with that?

Of course it depends on what you're doing and how well you know how to use available resources... the general rule for Logic is:
    >>>Fastest machine with the most RAM you can afford.<<<
That said, someone who knows what they're doing can get an amazing amount of effects and virtual instruments on an old PPC G5 computer running Logic 8.
So, while fast machines will allow more plugins/VI with less overloads... knowing what you're doing will take you further so that the difference between machines would not make a difference in the music.

  • I understand that a XSL transformation is faster than JSP

    Hi all
let's say the datasource solution provides data ,
I'm under the impression that you can make the XSL loop through the information do various logic on the data and represent the data much faster than can be accomplished with JSP
Is there anyone else out there that understands the same ?
    stev

I tend to doubt it. The XSL is interpreted (well, usually) where as the JSP is compiled. Sure, you can write really bad JSP code that underperforms really good transforms, but I'd tend to believe that in general it would be faster than XSL.
That said, XSL can provide for greater flexibility than JSP rendering and that may be easily worth any small performance penalty it may have.
