Making a swf wait until the rest of the HTML page is ready?

I have a site with a common SWF embedded at the top of each page, and then regurlar graphic/text HTML content below it.
I was anticipating that the SWF might have a bit of a delay for it to load, and that the rest of the page would be appearing pretty much right away... and that DOES happen from time to time.
However, the one thing I wasn't expecting, and don't quite understand, is that sometimes the SWF will appear first and even start playing, yet the rest of the page doesn't appear for a second or two, so I end up with this SWF movie floating in black.
Not entirely sure what is holding the page back, since most of the graphics are shared/common on each page. There are some embedded videos (with poster frames, so they shouldn't take too long to load) on some pages, which are probably the culprits.
What I don't get (besides how to further optimize the pages), is why the SWF appears and plays, if it is an element within the table that contains all the content of the page. I thought that tables only display once EVERYTHING in it is loaded... So, why would the SWF appear before the other elements are ready? I'm assuming the other (non-common) elements are not finished downloading... although I'm starting to suspect that maybe they are, and the delay is something else... like the embedded QT's 'initializing' or something?
Anyway, I don't imagine there is a solution here, but I'll ask.... Is there some way to have the SWF wait for the rest of the page to finish doing whatever it is that it's doing that is causing the delay?
Weird thing is, it's kind of random... Sometimes it loads instantly... other times, either the SWF is floating on black for a second or two... or the rest of the page shows up, and it's the SWF that's late.
Anyone have any advice, words of wisdom, or bits of trivia that might be of use here?

Along with the randomness of the HTML elements in general, the relationship between the Flash and HTML are similarly 'independent'.
I was just wondering if there were some little tricks or methods used by web guys these days, as it seems like clever new techniques or new capabilities in CSS or Flash pop up from time to time.
Very odd, though... The interface graphics are very light, yet sometimes the page takes a few seconds to show, and the Flash appears right away (the opposite of what I'd normally expect, when things 'go wrong').
I still don't get why the SWF shows up (when the rest of the table doesn't), if the rule is true that a table won't show up unless all the content is available.
Is there some sort of weird exception if the content of a cell is Flash?

I'm having some issues with my messages, text and iMessage. When I receive a message it will only show the last one sent from that person, even if they have sent me multiple texts. I am then not able to see the rest of the conversation until I send a response back. Even then the message takes longer to send than when messages is working properly. I've tried resetting and restarting the phone and it is still doing the same thing. It has done this in the past and restarting the phone usually worked, but I recently did the latest software update and it is now doing this consistently. If you are having an issue with your iPhone only showing the most recent message of a conversation in the Messages application, and you have already tried restarting and resetting the iPhone, the next thing to try would be to back up any data on the iPhone, erase it and set it up as a new device. Videos loading BEFORE the rest of the page!

I just published my site with the new iWeb 08. The pages are loading very slowly for people because it's loading my video clips FIRST, then the rest of the page. Is there anyway to have the page load first, and THEN the video clip? Is there a setting or something that I'm missing?

Here's a trick that worked with my Podcast page and entries.
I noticed that if you create a new text box on the page it will load before the media files. So if you click on the text box that you want to load before a media file and Duplicate it (Cmd+D) it will lay right over the top of it without anybody realizing it. And it will load first. Of course, the font suffers a little, but it accomplishes the desired effect. In case the duplicated text box isn't aligned sufficiently after the page loads, give the overlaying text box a background color that is the same as the page. That way the latent text box doesn’t even need to be visible after the page fully loads.
This takes a bit of fudging around and re-publishing, (checking it on different browsers is highly recommended), but until Apple fixes the bug it seems like the easiest way to keep people entertained with reading while they wait for the media file to load.

Configuring Admin Util to allow me to use VPN AND surf the rest of the net

I am having a problem when I connect to my work network via VPN. When I do, I can no longer connect to the rest of the Internet. I was able to do this until I started using an Express (so it has been allowed by my work network).
Here's my setup: Express is connected via Ethernet to my Verizon Fios modem. When I connect my computer directly to the Verizon modem all works fine. I have been advised that what's happening is that my Airport Express is creating a behind-the-device network that has the same exact IP address space as your office's network (when I'm connected to it via VPN).
To fix this I've been told to "Go into the Airport administration app, click on the "Internet" icon at the top of the configuration pane for your AE, then click on the "DHCP" tab, and look at what the "DHCP Range" pull-down menu is currently set to. After writing this down (in case you need to go back to it), change to one of the other options -- e.g., if it's currently set to "10.0.", change to "192.168." or "172.16". That should be enough to move you completely out of the space that your VPN is using. Save the changes, let your AE reboot, and try using the VPN and the internet at the same time again."
The problem is that the advisor is using Airport Admin Util version 5.x and I am using version 4.2. The screen he suggests is not where his is in his version. Could someone advise me of how I can do this via 4.2?

I entered Iphoto for my user and only photo up until 2012 were in the library. I thought the restore would do the incremental Time Machine backups too.....

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

Also, I'd forgotten about this problem until just now, when I extend a loop (for instance, to play 2x instead of just one) it plays a phantom 3rd time. What I mean by this, is there's no track to tell garage band to play it a 3rd time, but it does anyway. If I copy paste the loop, it doesn't do it. I've got no idea what to do with this one. I'd really appreciate a quick response as I'm in the middle of a recording project :/

this may happen, if you accidentally turn on Auto Quantize for the track in the track editor, also "follow tempo and pitch" may cause it. Have you checked the settings?
As to your strange loop: is it a software instrument loop or a real instrument loop you are talking about?
If it is a software instrument loop you can look at it in the track editor and delete any extra beats that are revealed by looping. That sometimes happens if there are long notes at the end of the loop.

Cannot download the rest of the loops/instruments

I am trying to download all the optional instruments in garage band and I get the message:
"The Software Instrument or Apple Loop selected is currently being installed.
You have already ignited the installation of additional content for GarageBand via Software Update. For additional information please open the "Software Update" application."
However when I look at software update all I see is "No Updates Available". How do I get the rest of the instruments?

Is this a new mac and did GarageBand come preinstalled? Or did you migrate from a different Mac? There may be many reasons for this problem, check the possible causes:
Check, if GarageBand is installed in the "Applications" folder and named GarageBand. Otherwise you cannot update it.
Have you accepted a preinstalled GarageBand to your AppleID? Sign into to AppStore and check the Purchase Tab. Accept, if necessary.
GarageBand may already have downloaded the loops, but not indexed them. Then you could try to rebuild the Loop Index: Rebuilding the Loop Index in GarageBand
GarageBand may not be able to remember that it updated, because of corrupted preferences, then try HangTime's "oddball" problems fix and delete the preferences:

Remember, in Mt. Lion the user library is hidden; you open it best from the Finder's "Go" menu, from the main menu bar:
Go > Go to folder then hold down the alt/option key until the library appears in the drop down menu. Select it to open and remove the file Preferences/com.apple.garageband.plist
If all fails, try to reinstall GarageBand - move the application to the Trash and download it again from the AppStore.

I just wondered how I can post links in these messages. I saw other people doing it. So instead of typing the URL making it a real hyperlink like in a normal html page.
