I made a Thread this way;
new Thread(new Runnable(){
public void run(){
}).start();
how can I get this Thread to stop itself???

What happens when an unstoppable thread hits an unmoveable block of code?I'd like to see that tested experementally at CERN :-)

Somewhere between about 10 and several hundred billion.
A specific answer can be easily determined by you by actually writing a very small apps that spawns them and counts them.
You might note that modern OSes limit the number of threads per app. In most or perhaps all unix variants you can change that limit. You can't increase that limit in java.
Running the maximum number is very unlikely to be good idea however. Requiring that would suggest that the design is broken.

How can I continue with a download that has stopped itself?

I was downloading a *.rar and suddenly it stopped. I tried downloading the file again and replaced the file *.part with the more advanced content from the previous download but it just didn't work. There apppeared a message "It can't continue because couldn't find the source of the file on the disc."
What can I do to avoid starting from the beginning?
If there's a solution, Does it work with download managers too?

* Start a new download and pause it, don't close Firefox.
* Copy the two files (.part and 0 byte final) that you moved above back to the download location to replace the new files that were created.

Making a loop that will stop when a double or a float will max out

Can someone tell me to how I can create a loop that will take a float abd a double value each with a beginning value of 2 and double each value until both variables run out of memory, and return the maximum valid value for each variable? I assume I will need two loops to do this, but I am not sure how to get the loop to stop. I have had the values go into crazy negative numbers when it starts to max out.

So it does. Apparently that example only works for fixed point math... I did
System.out.println(Double.MAX_VALUE * 2);and it said "Infinity" which I find a little humorous. In any case, try the static methods Float.isInifinite() and Double.isInfinite()

If you had already set up the FindMyiPod feature and wifi is on you might be able to locate and wipe the iPod. Otherwise just change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report it to the police. Apple will do nothing.
A patent itself does not mean anything. It has to be implimented.

so, I have read the many other threads on this problem:
1. I just installed firefox for the first time - this happens on facebook and many other sites
2. I have reset firefox - did not fix the problem
3. I have checked all my extensions and plug ins for up to date
4. I turned off hardware acceleration
5. I tried disabling all my plug ins
6. I used to use firefox, but it started doing this and I was never able to resolve this and went to chrome.
I am using Win 7. No problem, ofr the most part, using IE or Chrome, I just wanted to try firefox again. Does it not work with win 7?

after making the photo slide show, i clicked share>export movie. after which i burned using toast. the file became a .mov. i tried playing it in my mac and it worked. my fear now is will it also play in a regular dvd?... i read from google that mov files won't run in dvd players. what format should i convert it to so it'll play in a dvd player. can you suggest a faster way i can burn my projects for it takes me almost an hour to export. im going to make 28 slideshows for my kids in school. *=( if i need to do this process 28 times, i may not be able to finish it on time. please suggest a software or an alternative as to how i should do this... m more comfortable using imovie than iphoto. thanks and i hope to hear from someone soon *=j

In order to get your messages to show up on your other phone, you would need to have a backup of the phone with the messages, and then restore the new phone from that backup.
According to article iTunes: About iOS backups found here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946 iTunes will backup your Messages.
iTunes will back up the following information
Messages (iMessage and carrier SMS or MMS pictures and videos).
