Making a UI field mandatory and error out on save if no entry made

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to make a UI field mandatory and not allowing the opportunity to save if the field has no entry selected out of a DDLB. I marked the field mandatory in the config page and it displays an error message if it is left unentered but still allows to save , ie even with the error message u can save the opportunity.
How can I get this to work and not allow save if the field is entered?
I tried putting a check in the DO_FINISH_INPUT and DO_VALIDATE_INPUT but didnt work........ please help

Profit center field mandatory and error in OKB9

Hello everyone,
I have a question on Profit center. My user wants to see a message that profit center is mandatory at the time of GL posting and also add a profit center at the time of GL posting.
What I tried was in OKB9 added cost element (GL), assigned category 3 for 'Profit center mandatory' but when I assigned a profit center it gave me a message that 'cost element needs to be a revenue element (Note - cost element is assigned category 11) to assign profit center so I left that. and only used category 3 with cost element and company code.
My question is
1) Why is it giving me this error in OKB9, when I assign cost element.
2) How can I make Profit center field mandatory for the client and he can add his own Profit center

In OKB9 for profit center assingment it can be only Revenue elements. For those expenses item it can be cost elemtn with category 1.
It can be possible make it as mandatory fiile in field status variant for respective GL accounts and also document type you can make profit center is mandatory in that FSV.

New LUN Takes A long Time To Format and Errors Out

Good afternoon,<o:p></o:p>
I have a Hyper-V Cluster composed of 4 nodes and these nodes are able to access multiple CSVs (14 in total). I recently requested a new LUN (LUN 15)to be provisioned
to my Hyper-V cluster in the size of 500GB. Here is my problem:<o:p></o:p>
1. Formatting of a 500GB LUN (with quick format selected) should not take more than a few seconds. Instead, the quick format takes about 2hrs if not longer. I have actually
seen it go for half the day.<o:p></o:p>
2. Once the formatting has completed (no errors), taking the formatted LUN offline freezes the Computer Management screen and shows the status (Not Responding). This
will take place for 30 minutes or less and show that the LUN has been taken offline.<o:p></o:p>
3. In the Failover Cluster Manager, detecting the disks takes about 15 minutes. Once the available LUNs have been detected I can add the 500GB LUN to the Disks screen
without any problems.<o:p></o:p>
4. While in the Disks screen, adding the LUN to the Clustered Shared Volumes takes about 5 minutes (too long).<o:p></o:p>
Already seeing that there is a problem, I went ahead and used the Hyper-V Manager to create a 200GB vhd on the new LUN which has been added to the CSV. The bar indicating
the progress of the vhd creation does not display any progress (no green progress bar appears, not even a tiny bit of it) and after 3 hours (more or less) I receive an error, stating that the creation of the vhd failed.
<o:p>NOTE: The vhd shows up in Volume 9 (LUN 15) but I can only bet that it will not work, plus I would not want to work with a vhd file which failed during the
creation process.</o:p>
<o:p>Long story short, I repeated the above steps to see if that was a temporary problem, but it is not. The same problem occurs no matter which Hyper-V cluster
node the operations are performed on. I would like to add, that I tested the creation of a vhd on an already configured LUN and the creation was completed successfully, and within a n expected time frame.</o:p>
NOTE: When LUN 15 errors out, it's status shows "Failed" in the Failover Cluster Manager. This in turn, causes the re-scanning of available disks to take forever (in Computer Management) and it keeps searching. Pretty
much, the fail of one LUN affects the entire functionality of the entire Hyper-V Cluster.
Errors Listed In Event Details For LUN 15:
1. Cluster Shared Volume 'Volume9' ('Cluster Disk 5') is no longer accessible from this cluster node because of error 'ERROR_TIMEOUT(1460)'. Please troubleshoot this node's connectivity to the storage device and
network connectivity.

Before you install the new shared storage please first validation this storage first, you can refer the following KB to validation the new LUN.

Using Error In and Error Out Clusters within VIs

Quick question for the LabVIEW experts - I try to include Error In and Error Out clusters ICON terminals in all of my VIs. My question is however, if I have a VI with code that does not use any error terminals do I need to include Error In and Error Out clusters in that VI? If my code does not use those terminals I would think that I'd just be passing errors right through this VI and I don't see a purpose of including them.

Error IN and Error OUT

Is error in and error out important? If I leave out error in & out can I VI still run. What is the purpose of errir in & out?

To answer Tim's question about automatic error handling and NI VIs:
The VIs shipped with LabVIEW have the VI property for Automatic Error Handling turned off. We are "supposed" to write good code, which includes good error handling. So the automatic error handling dialog should never be posted from within a VI shipped with LabVIEW. If a call within one of our VIs does not have Error Out wired, it's because we know the execution of the code is correct whether an error occurs there or not (that's the idea, anyway).
The bulk of the value to automatic error handling is that it allows you to write "quick and dirty" code and easily catch your mistakes. It's most useful for prototyping and initial code development. Production code should always be reworked for good error handling if error handling was not included in the initial design and implementation.
Error handling often boils down to just helping you identify where an error is occurring and what is wrong. That's what the automatic error handling does for you. It just tells you error xxx occurred at location yyy and it allows you to break in at that location. You then figure out what is going on and add more code to your application to handle the condition (aha - error handling, not just error reporting). For example, what should I do if the file I am to write to already exists and is read-only? Should I just quit? Should I report file open error and quit? Should I report the file is read-only and prompt for a new file?
Error handling code takes time to design and time to write. If all goes well all the time (shut your eyes and dream for a moment), then most error handling code is not needed. But all does not go well all the time. The better you get at using Error In/Out, the better off you will be in the long run. Wiring Error Out forces you to consider what you will do when an error occurs at that location. It makes you think and you make a conscious decision about what to do (which can include "do nothing"), but obviously a conscious decision is better than the unconscious decision which currently happens when you don't consider errors and hence default to "do nothing".
Good code doesn't need automatic error handling turned on. There are times when it is helpful to all, e.g. prototyping, and there are times when it is always helpful, such as demos or when the developer simply doesn't want to write error handling code. Not everyone wants to write really good code. And some devious developers may want to find out who's pointing them to read-only files and not let them run their application anymore.

Making Storage Location field mandatory in Work Order

As per our proces, if PR is created from work order and if there is no storage location in work order then PO will have warehouse address as a shipping address. So it is expected that PR must have storage location details when it is created from work order to avoid incorrect shipping address in PO.
So, I want to make storage location field mandatory in components tab of work order.
Also I want to avoid the users to deliberately removing the storage location and making it blank.

Making input selection fields mandatory in Z-reports

Hello Experts,
We have a query on Z-reports:
1)Suppose if we have some 8 to 10 selection parametrs in input screen of a Z-report & we have certain defined output fields,then we make certain fields as mandatory in input selection screen.
2)If client's requirement is not to make any of the fields mandatory, then the logic to be built will be too cumbersome. This is because, user can give any inputs in any permutation & combination. This makes the logic for coding more complicated.
In such cases, what should be the approach, like whether, we should insist client, that any of the fields should be made mandatory entry OR if not, how should we proceed with such a requirement.
NOTE: Logic becomes more complex, with the increasing number of input selection parameters(If none of the fields are mandatory).
Kindly comment / suggest a way out for this.

Hi Mahesh, In my view, explain the situation to client clearly, also talk to end user .. they'll be in better position to let you know about the information they need in most of the cases (and they don't harm even-if included in other reports as well), make these fields as mandatory. Let the client know that the easier the report, better would be the benefits (may be 1 report can suffice for 5 reports) .. mostly this is what happens in the practical scenarios.

recently, i spent considerable amount of time wracking my brain on a similar problem. the nearest i came to a solution was when i used a forms personalisation. mind you, forms personalisation will not work directly on the DFF window, so it has to be approached in a roundabout sort of way.
i got this information from an Oracle Support personnel - MOS Note 1078348.1.
i would start with the flexfield segment as "not required", and then using Forms Personalization, i would make it "required". i would try to figure out how to establish a condition where the previous 'required' flexfield segment's value is checked to see if this 'not required' segment needs to be made 'required'. in theory, this should solve the issue. i gave up on it because the forms personalisation would need to cover WHEN-VALIDATE trigger event, and we had close to 100 validations going on through other preexisting forms personalisations, which rendered it near impossible to employ this method.

Number of rows in error in the scenario in an email.Here in my scenario I am trying to insert data into Essbase database and when i try to use getNbInserts() and getNbErrors functions of ODI in an email body,its giving zero value even though there 140 records inserted and 10 errored out.Can any one let me know how we get this number of records inserted and number of records errored in email.
