Making Dir11 PC projector from Mac issue

Hi,
I am using iMac 2007 (Intel) and Director 11. I am trying to make a PC projector from the Mac, with Buddy API and BuddyMenu Xtra in it. I followed the instructions of how to install these xtras that I downloaded from the buddy website. But when I tried to publish (make the projector), it says it cannot find Text Asset Xtra, baWin.xtra and Buddy Menu Xtra.xtra. I make sure that these xtras are in the configuration>xtras folder but the messages still show up. Why this problem shows up, I don't understand.

I use director to make presentations. I am on a mac,
and have MX2004 which can make a .exe projector. But I can not see
to get the paths right so that the .exe projector can find the
videos. I was once told that the projector does not look from the
"top" of the path, but only follows "down" from where the projector

I found it best to have videos as the same level as the
movies that call them or in
sub folders, but not at a higher level. Higher level does
work though but I'd
recommend avoiding if you can. Video paths should be be fine
as long as you
maintain the same structure and path relationship from when
you import the video to
when you distribute on a CD. To ensure movies will always
find video, you can put
all the videos in the same folder as the movies that call
them. If you want to keep
your files tidy and more organized, you can create a stub
projector than links to
your starting movie in a sub directory. And in that sub
folder, you can have all
your Director movies and videos.

Sound issues making phones calls from Mac

When making or receiving calls thru continuity on my Mac (27" Late 2013; IOS 8.1 iPhone 5S), the person on the other end says the call sounds like I'm in a tunnel, has some distortion and is at times not clear enough to understand what I'm saying. I have used the internal microphone on the mac and have also used a "Yeti" external microphone with the same results. I did try "Face Time" audio as a test and the sound was much improved and satisfactory at the caller's end. There are no issues with the sound from my end sitting at the computer.

Director 11 - Publishing Mac Projector from Windows

When publishing a Mac projector file from Windows XP, the
files created do not function correctly when I test them on a
Macintosh computer (OS 10.5). Even though I publish as a projector,
the application is not self running and will display a message that
Shockwave is required to run the program. The program will run
properly on Macintosh computers that have Shockwave installed.
It seems that the files that are created in the Frameworks
folder (within the .app/Contents folder) have data in their
resource forks and this gets stripped off on the Windows system. I
thought Director 11 had resolved this issue so that you could
publish a cross-platform projector that would be ready-to-run.
If I move the .app folder to a Mac and replace the Frameworks
folder with a Frameworks folder that has been created with Director
11 on a Macintosh system, the program runs correctly without a
Shockwave install.
Has anyone else run into this, and if so, is there a fix for
it? I need to be able to publish both Windows projectors and Mac
projectors from my Windows system.

thanks. You're right, it's impossible to set icon or background image, but it seems to work stable.
Do you know, if the D11.5MAC-generated projector works under MAC OS 9 / WIN95/98/NT/2000/Vista/7?
I feel sorry for you because of the UDF file system. Therefore I have no idea.
But apple has changed the way how files are connected with their applications. You can now (since 10.5) define that all files with a certain file extension has to be opened with a concrete program. But I also know that it doesn't work correctly in all cases. So may be it has something to do with that instead the way how the ROM is read with 10.5+ opposed to 10.4

Pb with optoma EP752 projector since sw refresh moving from Mac OS 10.5.4 to 10.5.8

I did a sw refresh moving from Mac OS 10.5.4 to 10.5.8 and since then my Optoma EP752 projector does not work properly. The default 1024x768 resolution is no more a choice from the monitor section. Instead I am proposed a 1024x516 one which does not suit my needs at all.
When I go back to genuine Mac OS 10.4 the pb is solved. I tested my projector on a Mac OS 10.6.8 and here comes the problem again.
I am trying to locate the root cause of this keeping in mind that one of the objectives of Mac OS 10.5.8 was "Resolves an issue in which certain resolutions might not appear in the Display pane in System Preferences." I am still wondering whether it is my projector or my OS... This device has always been connected the same way which is : mini DVI to DVI using a genuine apple adaptor

You should update all the way to 10.5.8 using the combo updater, which you can download from here:

I'm outputting a Mac projector file that will work on my mac computer. However, when I upload it to FTP and download it my mac or another mac, it won't work! What's going on? I've tried adding ".app" to my file and it still won't work. Help!

Does it work if you .zip up the projector and FTP the .zip and then unzip the projector on the other Mac's? A projector is basically an application. Applications in Mac's have package contents and resource bundles. When copying files over the network on Mac's, symbolic links inside the package contents and bundles can get messed up.

Font issues in Illustartor going from Mac to PC

We are using Illustrator CS3 with Adobe Open Type fonts on both a PC and Mac machine. When opening an .ai file on the PC that was created on the Mac, we get all the missing font errors. Both computers have the same fonts installed. The interesting thing is that files created on the PC open fine on the Mac without any font issues. What's the deal?

Well a Mac formatted iPod cannot be read by a pc without the use of 3rd party software (such as XPlay2), and of course if you reformat the iPod for pc use, you'll lose the songs.

IPhone 6 seems to crash when making phone call from Mac

When using my iPhone 6 Plus to make phone calls from the Macintosh, (initiating call from Mac Contacts app in Yosemite) the iPhone continually brings up the Apple logo and does a quick restart over and over again. The phone call, however seems to work, but it's just that the iPhone looks as if it's going crazy showing the Apple logo and then the home screen over and over again. This had worked initially, but not anymore. Both iPhone 6 and MacBookPro up to date with updates.

If you never find an app that will do it then you could have a go at making one yourself-I don't think you need to pay Apple as long as you don't want to sell it.

From mac mail, I can send but not receive mail. Also, on the same mac, I can run mail through Entourage and no issues with sending or receiving

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)
Apparently there is an issue if you push the Apple Remote before you set your computer to mirror. Whatever I did, it had locked it in that state. Once I stopped mirroring, then went onto the TV screen and restarted the Apple TV (#1 above) it then allowed me to choose mirroring on my Mac and the audio automatically switched from the computer to the TV (making the computer now mute), BTW the volume needs to be maxed on the computer as that will transmit to the TV if your volume is low on the computer. Then you can raise or lower it the way you want on your TV.

Mavericks is not an upgrade of previous OSes, but rather a port of iOS
If you want your computer to function like an iPad, go for it.
Snow Leopard on the other hand is a full-featured and stable OS - the best of them in my opinion.
Mavericks makes it easier to port Pages and Numbers documents back and forth between your computer and your iPad - but this portability comes at the price of many, many lost features in both programs. Over 100 lost features in Pages. Don't know how many for Numbers, but because of lost functionality you risk losing data (if you used Footers and Headers, Page View, etc.).
It is possible to use the older version of iWork under Mavericks, but it is a real pain as Mavericks keeps trying to default you to the newer versions. Even accidentally opening with the newer version and not saving changes can cause the file identifier to be altered making it no longer open under the older version (I did find a way to force open) Deleting the newer versions from your system results in Mavericks nagging you on a daily basis to reinstall them. There is no option to say No, only the option to postpone for one day.
the OS itself is much less customizable, I found it much harder to use with older eyesight because I couldn't highlight my scroll bars, or change the colour of certain files in a list, etc. Anywhere I went to Preferences I was struck by how few of them there were - less than half as many as Snow Leopard, in some cases less than 25%. Again, I had used those missing Preferences.
Mavericks also takes away many of the abilities of iTunes to sync with your iPad or iPhone and forces you to use iCloud to do much of the synching. If you don't want to use iCloud, or if you have confidentiality issues that prevent you from using it - you are out of luck.
In the end I found Mavericks unusable. The process of reverting back to Snow Leopard required 5 hours with 2 different geniuses at the Apple Store, 2 deep wipes of my computer and fresh install of Snow Leopard. And some loss of settings and data.
If you choose to go for it, then make a bootable backup first. Some sources suggest making 2 backups.
There are people who are happy with Mavericks, but I am not one of them.
Since I had my misadventure they have made some improvements to Mavericks, but not nearly enough of them to tempt me back. For example, you cannot set your old Pages and Numbers documents to 'always open' with the older version of the software ... or rather you can set them to, but Mavericks will immediately revert it back to the new version.

Projector settings - MAC

I am trying to make a projector for MAC. I have no problem making one for PC, but when I publish for MAC, the date on the .app is June 25, 2012 for MAC Intel binary and March 2011 for MAC universal binary, not today's date. Furthermore, while these projectors play, they pull up older versions of my project without my latest updates. I have never had this problem in the past. Any suggestions as to what is causing this now and how to fix it? - SJR

Known problem with publishing UB. Here's a quote and some help:
The bundle, which is a folder with a few never changing files and with your movie files, is copied from a template. It will always have the modification date from this template, as the folder itself is not changed.

How to transfer multiple account emails from Mac Thunderbird to Windows Outlook 2013 ?

I have around 5 email accounts that I access at regular intervals. I have managed to keep these accouts from years and maintained each email in dufferent folders. Now I am about to give away my mac book and switch over to windows system. All I want is to
transfer the emails from Mac Thunderbird to Outlook in windows. I have transferred the datsbase files of each account from mac to windows laptop but dont know hoe to import these to Outlook 2013. These is no such option to import the thunderbird files in Outlook
2013.
Is there anything I am doing incorrect???

You can add multiple accounts in Outlook and use them separately. But to transfer your emails from Mac Thunderbird you first need to convert the emails of Thunderbird to .PSt format in order to import into Outlook Windows.

Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.
