Making document into a print ready pdf

Hi there,
I am trialing In Design, but I don't know if it's the program I need.  I have a manuscript saved to my computer as both a Word document and an ordinary pdf.  What do I need to do in order to get the document print ready for digital printing?  Any help very much appreciated, thanks!

Thanks Bob,
My book has been professionally edited and was supposed to come back to me in print ready pdf format ready for digital printing.  The printers are telling me that the format needs to be changed and the professional I used isn't interested in talking about it. The document is also in Word format.

I am trying to create a print ready PDF from a word file with unacceptable results.
The word file has a trim size of 6” x 9”. It has been set to mirror margins with the inner, top and bottom margins set to 0.75”, the outer margin is set to 0.5” and the gutter to 0.14”.
It doesn’t matter if I create the PDF from inside Word, or open Acrobat Pro 11.0.9 and click Create From File, while the resulting document size is correct and the odd numbered pages reflect the correct margins, the even numbered pages do not. This results in some text near the outer margin, as well as the page numbers being omitted.
Does anyone know how to correct this?
I just noticed that some of the odd numbered pages' text is also cropped. Apparently Acrobat is refusing to set side margins to smaller than 1" (@ 3cm).

I'm away from my printer, so I'll try it later. Even so, the proposed test is irrelevant. I operate a small publishing house and am trying to upload certain novels to Ingram, the largest book distributor in the world. The specifications I've set are the specifications they've asked for. Since they've said that the results I'm obtaining are unacceptable, and since they demand submission in PDF form, this renders Acrobat Pro for Mac completely unacceptable for anyone in the publication industry. As far as I can tell, Adobe has a serious bug here that it needs to fix—and at once.

  • InDesign Book Project...some images/graphics not appearing in print-ready PDF

Some images/graphics not appearing in print-ready PDF. Why? and how to fix.
    The images are linked.

That didn't work, but i copied images from other parts of my document that did work and pasted/resized to replace images that didn't import and that seemed to work.
still wish i could figure out why it happens in the first place so i don't have to do this other process.

  • Problem with saving InDesign newsletter to a print ready PDF in CS6

I am using a PC and created a 4 page newsletter in InDesign, CS6.  I have made this newsletter over and over in previous version of CS products and never had a problem.  But with CS6, I cannot get it to save as a print-ready PDF with the bleeds and markups the printer needs.
I have the Document Setup set to a bleed of 0.25 all around.  I have tried Printing to PDF, Exporting, and Print Booklet.  Printing to PDF doesn't show the bleeds and markups.  Exporting doesn't show the bleeds and markups.  Print Booklet only shows the bleeds and markups if I shrink the file down with a Scale to Fit...which won't work for the printer.  I have tried everything thing I can think of, tried changing all kinds of printer settings...I seriously have no idea why this isn't working.
    Any suggestions?

Well, the obvious thing is to make sure you've got "Use Document Bleed Settings" checked in the export dialog AND that you've got trim marks turned on. YOu should save a custom preset to do this along with the other settings your printer requires.

How do I move a document into a file in PDF reader on my iPad

When you're looking at the list of documents, touch the Edit button at the upper-right. Then select the file you want to move by touching the check box to its left, and click the Move File icon, it's the third one from the left at the top of the screen. You'll be prompted to "Move selected document" after which the "Choose a location" dialog will appear to allow you to select a destination folder.

  • Acrobat Reader XI for print-ready PDF

Can I use Adobe Reader XI to construct a print-ready PDF file with all text outlined in a CMYK format?

Other than reading and printing PDF, Adobe Reader allows only limited operations on PDF files including annotating and filling out forms.
You cannot create or “construct” a PDF file with the free Reader. And for that matter, even with Acrobat, the facilities for PDF creation, manipulation, preflight, etc. are done in conjunction with whatever layout / illustration / image editing software you have which normally initially creates the PDF file.

PS:   “Outlining text” is not considered best or even acceptable practice for high quality printing.

  • From PSD to Illustrator to PRINT READY PDF getting blurry

    Hello Experts,
I got a problem about converting my illustrator file to print ready pdf's. Basically i did my design in Illustrator but some of the graphic elements in my design are in PSD format, i just imported it to illustrator using place command and even embedded it to the main illustrator file, I got not problem with the resolution 'coz i set it to 300dpi CYMK. But the problem occurs when i print it to PDF because those images from psd file i imported are getting blurry, no matter how i set the settings to its maximum i still got those result over and over again. If anyone got a solution to this problem it might a good help to anyone not only me who is experiencing this problem.
    Thanks,
    erick

Thanks Mylenium, i finally figured it out now how to tweak those blurry stuff. First i tried to set the bicubic downsampling to its maximum pixels per inch and secondly i set the  bicubic downsampling off, both settings just works fine. Thanks again. This is a great help.

  • Word document won't 'print' to PDF on proper paper size

I have a document in MS Word that's on a 5.5x8.5 page size. If I do a Save As, the resulting PDF uses the proper paper size, but it also shows color--which I don't want for this particular document.
When I do Print and choose Adobe PDF, I can choose Black/white which is great, but I'm struggling to get it to use the right paper size. I've tried ever combination I can think of in the Default Setting and Adobe PDF Page Size options, but can't get it to show anything but 8.5x11.
Any thoughts on how to get the right paper size using Print to PDF?

Is this a Word document generated by Adobe's RoboHelp product or just a document generated directly in Word?
If the latter, you are asking in the wrong place. Even if you are using RoboHelp, this looks more like a question to ask in the Acrobat forums.

  • Indesign CC - Back & Front spread, followed by 2-3, etc then create print ready PDF

    Hi folks,
First up thanks for reading. I have a simple question:
My page layout is as per the following screenshot:
Yes, I know page 8,1 at the front is off centre. I made 8 a new section so I could put it next to 1 and create a cover spread. But the bloody thing won't line up like the others. Not to worry, I can work with that. And the 2-3, 4-5. 6-7 spreads are just what I want. I can create spreads with graphics that go over both pages, exactly how my customers should read it when they pick up the booklet.
The problem comes when I go to create PDFs for printing.
What I want the PDF to look like is spreads thus:
    8-1
    2-7
    6-3
    4-5
This is because this is how the printer wants them.
Now, I'm not going anywhere near the "Print Booklet" to PDF functionality because it ruins the quality of my output.
Please help, I've been Googling this for hours as well as You tubing. All to no avail.
I'm still reasonably new to all this.

Your page order should be first page to last page in the correct order.
You do not need to make the pages as
    8|1
    2|7
    6|3
    4|5
Printing from Print Booklet loses a lot of information from the pdf compared to Exporting to PDF.
    Supply a PDF with
Pages in correct order as single pages.
    Crop Marks
    Bleed
And when completing the section on Marks and Bleed - change the "Offset" to the same amount as the Bleed.
This ensures your crop marks do not encroach in the bleed area.

  • Placing Print Ready Ads

    Hiya,
This may seem like a straight forward question, but a printer keeps telling me that i'm doing this wrong.
I am putting some advert pages together for a magazine and they consist of 1 half page and 2 quarter page ads per page. Some of the ads I design myself, but others are supplied via a print ready PDF complete with crop marks etc.
How is the best way to place these ads, if i place the PDF then all the printer marks show up- is it best to import into photoshop and convert into a psd file.
If anyone can give me some step-by-step advise that would be great!
    Thanks

Those two questions are purely design questions. As to the pre-designed ads bleeding, usually a publication will charge more for an ad that bleeds or at least ask for the customer's preference for the ad (whether it should or should not bleed).
As for placement with "white spaces around the ad", that is up to you or others resposible for how the publication is to look. I like some "air" around my ads, but I always use a black stroke (usually .5) on my ads and then some other line element to seperate the ads from the content.
I have created frames to drop ads into, but with pre-made ads you never know if the ad is actually built to your exact specs. So it is usually better to handle them manually so you can tweak them to fit properly.

  • Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert 206 Page Word Document into PDF

    Hi there
As menetioned above, Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert my 206 Page Word Document into a PDF.  The Word document was originally a PDF file that I converted to Word and it has split all the text into sections.
It sounds like converting a PDF into Word isn't the best way to edit, re-format and then save as a PDF again.  I would love to hear your advice on this.
Thanks very much for your help!
    Fiona

First before you recreate the PDF from the Word Document.
    In word: Open Document
Next open a new Blank docment
switch back to Word click on the ¶ button
scroll to of go to very end of docment.
click just to right of the perion in the last sentence.
now go to very beginning of document
Hold down the Shift and click to the right of first letter in document.
    Now choose copy.
    Now switch to Blank document
    Choose Paste special.
    Now choose Text only.
If works all the words will be there spaced correct but with no ¶'s.
    Now insert returns as desired.
Now save as a docx file under a different name.
IF you are on a Mac use the following directions:
go to File menu > Print > PDF Hold down PDF button until Context menu pops up.
    Choose adobe PDF.
follow steps when the first window opens.
Save as PDF in desired location.
Now open the PDF in Acrobat. Document should be properly formatted and ready to go.
AS you've found The conversion is not seamless. Acrobat doesn't distingish between automatic end of line breaks and Returns and you have to put the pieces back again.  I wish Adobe and MS would get over the jealouscy of each other and share howcode works so Thatapplications could work seamlessly together.  BUt they never will.

  • Merging numbers documents into single PDF for emailing

I have 23-50 numbers documents (invoices) that I want to send as one single PDF (to save time).
When I select them all in Finder and open in Preview they are not full size and are rotated the wrong way.
When I open them seperately in Numbers and cmd P they show up fine covering the whole A4 paper and are rotated correctly.
Is there any way of sending multiple Numbers files as one PDF, or separate PDFs without having to open each one and Cmd P > PDF and drag/drop into Mail??
Trying to save time, as we have 23-50 of these every week to do!
We don't want to save them as PDFs as we create the documents as this takes up space on the computer - and there's loads of them!
Hoping someone will know the answer.
Thanks for taking the time to help

    Hi again mm,
Use a master document in Numbers to temporarily hold copies of each invoice, each on a separate Sheet.
As you complete each invoice, copy that table and then go to the temporary master document. Add a new Sheet and delete the default table that appears. Paste the new invoice. If the invoice has formulas, Menu > Edit > Paste Formula Results (because in Numbers, the formulas will not link back to the original document).
When you are ready to email this master document, Menu > File > Print... and in Print Preview panel on the right > Print All Sheets:
Click on the Print... button (it won't print yet). Bottom left of the print dialogue choose Save As PDF
That is the PDF for you to email and then delete. *
I tried this with an "invoice" on each of two Sheets. Not tried with 23-50 invoices .
    Regards,
    Ian.
