Making .swf (flash format) in java

Is there support in java to easy create .swf? I mainly i just need to convert jpg and or gif to simple .swf files.

.swf is a proprietry extension for flash movies and so i'm pretty sure there is no standard class for producing them (although you may be able to find someone has make one avalible over the 'net, i doubt it though).
More to the point, converting a jpg or gif to flash sounds very pointless - jpgs and gifs are rater image types (raw pixel data) while flash is vector based (images drawn by geometrically defined shapes, thus giving smaller file sizes and infinite zoom). Yes flash files can contain gifs and jpgs but they remain as rater images simply embedded into the flash, so if you're using it as an alternate image type then its a waste of time (and probably give larger file sizes).
Why exactly do you want to do this?

Does the Flash 8 and Flash Lite 2.0 has the same SWF file format?

Flash Lite 2.0 is based on the Flash Player 7 and supports
most of the features in that version of Flash Player, also, the
Flash Lite 2.0 provides serval features not avaliable in Flash
Player 7.

I've download the File Format Specification of Macromedia
Flash (SWF) and Flash Video (FLV) Version 8 from Adobe web site,
but, I don't know whether the Flash Lite 2.0 has the same SWF file
format?
If the SWF file format is different, where can I get the file
format for Flash Lite 2.0?

Yes .. it is a little different .. got some extras and has
some
restrictions. But there is a lot that is the same.
There is a separate section on mobile devices (in the Adobe
site where you
can get info on the format (or at least, there was for flash
lite 1.x)

Please help, need to import .swf/flash media

Hi all, have a little issue here. I have some SWF flash media and I want to bring it into imovie so I can edit it more effectivley then with qt. However, I have been haveing alot of trouble, most time I only get the audio part of it and no image. Most of the media is widescreen, I was able to export the media in qt to dv stream and then import it, however, it lost its widescreen look and was kinda squished from the sides if that makes sense, if anybody has expeirence with this type of media, please help.

I've never "dared" to convert .swf, but I read a lot about problems doing so... probably the Quicktime section of this forum is better to ask...
maybe a much easier workaround is using tools as SnapzPro from Ambrosia; this tool claims to "record" any screen content (and audio) and convert it directly into any wanted format (as dv)...
just a thought.......

Hi, the code above using cfgrid in flash format used to
display perfectly. But after some time, without changing the code,
cfgrid is not displaying anymore. Any reasons why this is

What error do you see? Anything?
Try tracing the page request by using coldfusion/jrun's
sniffer.exe,
Charles, or some other
tool. See what is going on. If the applet is starting to load,
enable the java console and review the errors there.
Does this issue happen on multiple client machines or just
one? What version of CFMX7 are you using (run sysinfo from
cfadmin).

How do I insert a movie in Flash format?

How do I import or insert a movie in Flash format to
Fireworks? Because I had no problem doing so with image files, but
when I try to import the .swf file, it brings "All readable
files"and .swf are not included. Please I am in a hurry with this,
help me.

You can't. You need to do that in Dreamweaver.

Running a .swf (Flash file) in JMF

Hi,
In my application i have to run .swf(Flash file) file. I have to do it using Java API. Can i do it using JMF.If so, how to do it. Is there any other API available to run .swf files in java.

Hi,
I don't know as much as most users here, but I have put up
about 18 different photo galleries on my DW site (almost ready to
be published).
I had to go into each code page where I wanted the gallery to
appear and paste the swf etc code. And it had to be pasted into the
code page not the design page.
Now, when I click a link to the specific page and look at it
in the design view, all I see is a large grey object. I can go into
the page properties and look at it that way, but I usually just
view it in my browzers. This Flash album is designed to work in the
browzer, not actually on the DW design page unless I specifically
click something.
This may not help you, as I said, this is my first site and
photo album dealings.

can anybody suggest that MoveDeltaX field in
StyleChangeRecords of swf file format is a absolute value or a
relative value?
Document says its a relative! But what I observed by a sample
file created by macromedia flash publisher is absolute!!
If i need to scale a shape,Do I need to scale the
MoveDeltaX...as we are doing for DeltaX and DeltaY of
StraightEdgeRecord.

Encore Help | Exporting projects to Flash format

It strikes me that Adobe can't settle on what to call an Encore project that has been output to Flash.
Is it a "Web DVD"? That term is used repeatedly in the New Features section. Is it simply "Flash". The Build panel lists the format as "Flash" and the Output as "Flash (.swf)." Or is it a "Flash DVD" or a "Flash Project"? Both terms are used in this page.
Flash output is an important feature of Encore. It would be a good thing to use a consistent name for the assets you end up with after you output to Flash.

Flash programming using Java!

I found there are tools to compile .net applications to SWF movies that can be run by Flash.
Are there any similar tools for Java, which can compile Java programs into SWF files?
Looking for a way to write my Flash movies using Java...

Thanks, but I wanted to find a way to use Java syntax instead of Actionscript syntax when programming SWF files...
Basically a compiler similar to javac, but which produces swf binaries instead of .class binaries.

How to import a .swf flash movie

I am trying to put this .swf flash file in keynote but it wont go in. I drag it in and a picture of a piece of film shows up...its not recognizing the format.
What and how can i convert this .swf flash file to be compatible with keynote.

It's simple, I've developed an animation with Catalyst (took me 2 days...to learn a move forward) and i would like to use that animation inside a flash website. so i'm trying to load the Catalyst swf file animation inside my flash main movie without success !
I"m tryin to do : loadMovie("catalyst_animation.swf", TargetA); TargetA is an empty movie clip located a certain position.
the loadMovie("catalyst_animation.swf", 0); is working but this is not what i want for a clear reason (loading inside and at a certain position).

I am trying to write a java program to read a swf file
into bytestream and then try to open the swf file from
the bytestream, can any friends here know is it feasibile?
If not, any other suggestion?Open with what? Which SWF (flash?) reader are you using?
After reading the swf bytestream then try
to manipulate its header information so that
user cannot open the swf file by double click the file.For most users simply renaming the extention from .swf to .AnythingElse will render it un-doubleclickable.

Flash .swf Flash Player

Hello!
This is what I'm trying to do:
Create a .swf Flash movie as an interface that will hold
media controls (play, pause, stop, track bar, volume, remaining
time, mute, etc)
Have a side bar list with all the movies I can load up to the
player with the lenght.
Every movie that can be uploaded is a .swf flash movie that
may be a presentation with sounds and even interactivity (tutorial
like)
I have experience in several programming languages (php, c++,
javascript, java, asp, etc) and also with dreamweaver, a bit of
fireworks, and I'm learning Flash (I've learned some basic stuff
like the simple moving animations and buttons)
I'd also need some sort of file reading system to read some
config files, that will have the title of every movie, and maybe
the lenght???
I've been checking out the ways to embed video, like
MovieClip, MovieClipLoader, FLVPlayback, and now I'm confused... :(
What should I use to do what I intend to do? what would be
the best approach? what would be the easier approach?
I'd appreciate that you point me into the right direction,
what should I learn? where to look for the info?

folder where the file was located originally so i left i there
As for the swfobject_modified.js file I know exactly where it's at
it's in a whole seperate location Dreamweaver created for called Scripts
Am I supposed to replace the original swfobject.js with swfobject_modified.js
