Malfunction iPhone 4S

My iPhone 4S is malfunctioning. Since yesterday it didn't found wifi, sometimes I can't even use the buttons to go to wifi, or to put it on or off. The button doesn't respond to touching. After resetting by turning my iPhone off and on again I could use those buttons again, but it didn't find my wifi at home. Or one time it found my wifi and then didn't accept the code. Sometimes it wasn't even possible to completely turn the iPhone off anymore. I reset the iPhone, emptied everything and reinstalled a copy. But it didn't help. No wifi possible.
Today more malfunctioning. I cannot turn it completely off. At some times nothing, not one button is responding. I cannot open Facebook, I don't receive push of whatsapp or messenger. The wifi buttons are not respinding. It is really making me crazy. Is there anybody who can help me please???

  • How can I replace a brand new, but malfunctional iPhone 4?

    Hey, guys.
I am from Russia, and on our recent trip to Munich, Germany we've bought a new iPhone 4 8gb for my wife at the Apple Store. When we got home in a couple of days, I unboxed it, plugged in and proceed to install iOS6 wirelessly. On the next day we went to the carrier office for a local microSIM, and my wife started to use the phone. But suddenly we've discovered that it won't last even a half of a day: while charged up to 100% overnight, it dropped to 80ish in about two hours, and after dinner break it was already way below 30-40 percent only to discharge completely at 5 or 6 pm.
And all this while every 3G, WiFi, BT, geolocation or even cellular data is turned off. She just made a couple of calls, so all other time it was in standby. I saw this myself in the evening, you can hold it in your hand and literally look how battery percentage drops one by one. Also the phone is getting hot while screen is lit and extremely hot when it charges up.
We don't have an Apple store in our country, so I can't get any official support. I can't contact Russian Apple support by phone, because it redirects me to carriers' support and they can't do anything. I didn't find any e-mail address to write to. I started digging this forum and found similar problems in regard of some kind of a bug in iOS 6, as well as some solutions, none of which were working. For instance, I wiped the phone completely, restoring only contacts from icloud and disabling everything power-consuming I could find. Sadly, it didn't help.
So, I decided to give it to local service for some diagnostics. They ran it and results came back: phone is malfunctional because of some serious internal issues like abnormally increased voltage from the battery, bent microboard, slightly melt components and so on. They said it is beyond repair and is only subject for replacement or disassemble for spare parts. All this with a brand new device.
You can imagine my frustration. We don't have any financial means to travel back again just to replace it, nor can we send it over via postage service. The only reasonable solution would be to transfer it back to Germany with a random friend, but I am not sure if it is possible to make a replacement, becuase I've paid for it with credit card and there is my name on the receipt.
So, the question is, what should I do? Is there any way to replace it without my personal presence in the store; can it be done by someone else? And if not, can a friend just give it back, and they would refund it to my credit card? Also, is it mandatory to return it exactly to the same store, or any store in Europe can take it?
I would really appreciate if someone with a silmilar experience would elaborate on the solution. Thanks in advance!

Thanks very much for your reply! I have a Genius Bar appointment today maybe they can test the phone to see if they can determine whether or not it is defective.
    Thanks Again!

  • Display malfunction - iphone 4

So in a normal day i was using my iphone 4 then it went black because of the battery. when i get it to recharge, it doesn't turn on the display, the apple logo doesnt appear when i turn it on and when the display goes on, the only thing that shows on the screen is a black screen with a white circle of light, but besides that, everything is functional, the voice comand, the music, the voice calls, i could even get a print of the screen to maybe understand what happend but it seems like the iphone is kinda desoriented(adrift or something like that, sorry for my bad english ) on the image, the format of the image is not in the format of a iphone screen print

Is the zoom function enabled? Try to double tap with three fingers to reduce the size again.
Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
The next step after that would be setting it back to factory settings:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support

  • Is there a charge to diagnose a malfunctioning iPhone

    My iPhone 5 was stolen, so Im having to use my iPhone 3G until i can get another one. The problem is, when I attempt to update it, iTunes gives me an error message saying;
The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1015).
***I am not trying to jailbreak an iphone nor am I asking anything related to doing such an act*****

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the software for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version isn't supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you're now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.

  • Malfunctioning iphone

Less than 24 hours out of the box, iPhone s will not go on 3G. Talked to Apple for 35 minutes, hard reset recommended. 10 hard resets later(camera fails, aps go away, no 3G, loose wireless passwords), visit AT&T, sent to apple store. can't be seen then, return after genius res. Phone is erased and restored. 4 hard resets later, return to genius bar, now told to erase backups on laptop, and sync. 3 hard resets later, waiting on my 4th appointment. Is this an Apple product. After this visit, I'm done.

when you say hard reset... do you mean the industry standard term of restoring the phone to defaults with no data... or do you mean the apple term of holding the sleep/wake button and home button until you see the apple logo?
iphone OS 3.0.x has some issues as you have seen... the easy fix is to restore the phone and choose "setup as new phone" instead of using a backup.
this will remove app data, call logs, sms logs, customizations etc but seems to do the trick for most of the issues 3.0.x is having... just don't restore from a backup and you'll be ok. make sure your contacts, calendars are synced on your machine so they will restore... your apps and itunes music will come back as well... and make sure you copy out your pictures so as not to loose them (assuming you could take any)
the losing wireless passwords seems to just be a general bug in 3.0.x as it happens even to phones restored and setup as new.
if indeed its been on your account for 29 days and you are wanting to return it you have 30 days so hurry up! there will be a 10% restocking fee but better than being stuck with a phone you hate.
we all are hoping that 3.1.x fixes all the little issues that 3.0.x seems to be having (fear not someone will reply saying theirs has no issues )
    good luck.

  • IPhone 4

I got my 1st iPhone4 in November of 2011  - by the 1st week in December it quit working.  The home button would not work, when you turned it off, it would power down and right back on.  The voice control kept coming on all by itself, in the middle of the night.  I dont even use voice control!  I contact Verizon, they send me a "new refurbished" phone to replace my brand new malfunctioning iPhone and low and behold, here I am, 1 month out and the 2nd phone is doing the same thing.  In the meantime, Verizon sends me a bill because they said the 1st phone I sent back to them via FedEx was damaged.  NO IT WAS NOT!  On the phone today they tell me the charging port was damaged.
If it was, it is because of a design flaw!  Not anything I did!  Regardless, the charging ability was not what caused me to send it back.  I only paid $169 for the phone to begin with and Verizon wants to charge me $299!  Are you kidding me?
They have now mailed me my 3rd phone in as many months and I am almost afraid to send them back #2 because there is no telling what "their warehouse" will do to this phone so they can charge me another $299.
Is anyone else having these symtpoms with their phones?  I am ready to go back to my blackberry!

Is there some reason why you didn't just go to Apple for service?
Your problems with "damage" and being billed by Verizon are between you and Verizon at this point.

  • Itunes grayed out on my iPhone how do I fix this?

Today the apple store replaced my malfunctioning iPhone 4 free of charge. I thought this was fantastic, however, I've come to realize that many of my itunes are not syncing? When I enter the itunes icon on my phone it says that I have 238 songs waiting to transfer, then when I get out of the app and back in again it tells me I have 436? How do I fix my problem?

    Hey Brianasurfergirl,
If your Wi-Fi is grayed out, these are the recommended steps:
Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
Ensure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
If your issue is still unresolved, perform a software restore in iTunes.

I crossed off the one you had already mentioned doing. I would start off with these and see if it resolves both the Wi-Fi issue and the cellular issue as well.
    Take care,

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not work, set it up as new device again, explained here:

when i attach my iphone 4 with computer it shows one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it,now what can i do ..plz help me

I would first try unplugging All the USB devices plugged into your computer, and then plug back in just the iPhone and see if that is recognized.  Also, do you have the latest version of iTunes for Windows installed on your PC, as you need to?
    Hope this helps

Make sure you can see your device in the sidebar>>

You are installing the Apple Mobile Device USB driver, which I did not have to do previously, so something in the updates has been left out / or changed.

  • IPhone 4 total malfunction after iOS 5.1.1 update

I updated my iPhone 4  to iOS 5.1.1 on Friday, it worked normally for about 24 hours, and now all of a sudden it is completely unusable. If I press the home button absolutely nothing happens. But if I plug it into the charger and then press the home button, the white apple appears, and it boots to the grey screen that you get with a brand new phone. When I then swipe the slider I am asked for a passcode, so I enter the one I used when the phone was working normally. I then get the screen that says to connect to iTunes. Problem is that I'm traveling and so for the moment cannot connect to my iMac at home. (I have a PowerPC G4 laptop with me that can't go beyond OS 10.4 and iTunes 9.1.1.) Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there anything I can do now or do I have to wait until I return home? Or is the phone totally toast or what? I've read some stuff about SIM cards being corrupted with this update. Would a new one restore the whole phone?

Exact same thing happened to my Iphone 4 on August 4th (366th day of 1 Year Warranty).  When connecting to ITunes, Restore fails and a message pops up in Itunes stating that "There is a problem with your IPhone" and directs you to Customer Support.  I took the phone to  Apple Store, the Geeks there experienced the same problem and were unable to resolve.  They suggested that the phone needed to be replaced at cost of $159.99 eventhough it started to malfunction 1 day after warranty expired.  Endless amount of pleading/arguing failed to sway them into giving me a free replacement.  Phne still not working.  Would changing the SIM help?
