Managed server in WARNING state in Obiee 11.1.1.7.0 prod env

Hi All,
We have OBIEE 11.1.1.7.0 running in our company. Last couple of days we are experiencing that, the managed server "bi_server1" always changes to "warning" state in every 20 to 30 minutes or so. Reports are too slow and behaves funny after warning. When I restart opmn, then it shows health is "OK". But again changes to "WARNING" after sometimes. It says: Thread pool has stuck threads.
We have got a RAC environment of database and our OBIEE is pointing to one of the node and i can tnsping to it. I can increase the StuckThread time to 1200, 1200 or so instead of 600, 60 for bi_server1 in the console as found somewhere as a tuning process but not sure if it will help much!! I can't even cancel the long running queries in the "managed session" of obiee analytics.
Kindly advise what exactly is causing this problem and what must I do to resolve this??
The bi_server1 log file displays the following error:
####<Oct 15, 2013 1:31:59 PM SAST> <Error> <WebLogicServer> <SWAOBIEE> <bi_server1> <[ACTIVE] ExecuteThread: '5' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <705beb8dd8c1b40f:-c2b96b4:141a7012d14:-8000-000000000004373a> <1381836719713> <BEA-000337> <[STUCK] ExecuteThread: '2' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)' has been busy for "709" seconds working on the request "weblogic.servlet.internal.ServletRequestImpl@46631799[

Thanks,

I had similar issue in windows 7 [64 bit].
It is found that the nodemanger windows service was not present and I had to create it by executing installNodeMgrSvc.cmd present in wls server location say, 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\bin'  in my case and then come to bi wls console and 'Resume' the bi_server1 managed server. You would see progress in the installer once the managed server bi_server1 is 'Running' state.
Hope this helps.

  • Managed Server showing FAILED STATE

    Hi,
I am new to weblogic administration. I have one Admin and Two managed server on clusters. Recently I am seeing one of the managed server state as FAILED with health showing as OK.Other managed server is shut down due to different problem. While I was troubleshooting I am noticing errors like given below.
select count(*) from dual" set up for pool "AgileContentPool" failed with exception: "java.sql.SQLException: Closed Connection".
    I have enabled the following
Enabled the test connections on Reserve with test frequency set to 300.
I have also submitted an SR 3-5557683081 but do not seem to get a resolution until. Thought if I could get some resolution in this forum.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Hi,
I was able to test connection through weblogic console and it is successful. We use the weblogic for Agile application and users are able to use the system with no impact except that that server state shows as failed in weblogic console. JDBC drivers are updated with the latest ones.
    Thanks,

  • Operations Manager Failed to Access the Windows Event Log and management server is showing warning state

    Hi,
I am monitoring AD server from SCOM 2012 R2. My management server goes into waning state. When i run Health explorer then it come back in the healthy state but after some time it again goes into warning state. After seeing alert i found that a alert is coming
again and again i.e.  Operations Manager Failed to Access the Windows Event Log.The description of alert is mention below
The Windows Event Log Provider is still unable to open the DhcpAdminEvents event log on computer 'nc2vws12ad5.corp.nathcorp.com'.
The Provider has been unable to open the DhcpAdminEvents event log for 64080 seconds.
Most recent error details: The RPC server is unavailable.
Please suggest me how to resolve this so that my management server will again come back in healthy state.
    Thanks
    Abhishek

    Hi Abhishek,
As i mentioned earlier the Alert resolution says the same points.
Can you give details on the below ?
Is there really a log named "Dhcpadminevents" in the MS's Event viewer ?
Did you recently configure any new alert where you mentioned "Dhcpadminevents"
as a event log location ?
If yes then what is the target you selected for the rule / monitor there ?
Can you post the results for analysis ?

Thanks. Unfortunately I've already done that and it doesn't work. I've included the -Xrs option in the managed server java command line arguments, see below. However, either it is in the wrong location on the java argument list or something else is going on, because it is not working. See the JVM command line below of the managed server.....

  • SOA managed server warning

    Hi All,
I am settting Oracle SOA suite 11.1.1.4 in solaris environment. All components are set up successfully like DB, RCU, Weblgic and SOA suite installation. When I am starting the soa_server1 managed server using NM I am getting following as WARNING in soa_server1.out file. Even though the sever is running fine I doubt does this have any impact ?
    Any suggestions highly appreciated.

What could be caussing this failure ?
    Thanks

I had similar issue in windows 7 [64 bit].
It is found that the nodemanger windows service was not present and I had to create it by executing installNodeMgrSvc.cmd present in wls server location say, 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\bin'  in my case and then come to bi wls console and 'Resume' the bi_server1 managed server. You would see progress in the installer once the managed server bi_server1 is 'Running' state.
    Hope this helps.

lastly its not giving message of successful transition and health of the server goes in warning state even restarting resolve it for some time. and again its move to warning state kindly help  with the reason and reolution

    Hi,
As Ros mentioned earlier you need see whether server logs have stuck thread or also check whether your Heap is trying to reach Max .
also might be your services have any problem.
So you need to check your OSB server logs.

  • WF-Workflows in permanent warning state (SCOM Management Pack)

    Hi,
We're starting to monitor a small Service Manager 2012 R2 installation with SCOM 2012 R2.
After all discoveries have ran we have a permanent Warning on the Management Server, this warnign relates to the WF Workflows
The Repeats above are from my resetting the health the monitor. If I leave this alone the alert just stays Yellow/warning.
I've done some research into this but have now hit a brick wall and would like some help.
All workflows in the Service manager Workflows/Status pane are in good health.
    Investigating further
I found this SQL script to list failed workflows.

    Rules.Comment,
    Rules.RuleCategory,
    Rules.RuleEnabled,

Our Exchange connector appears healthy, it's certainly processing email and no errors relating to it appear in the Operations Manager event log on the SCSM workflow/Management server.
As for MonitoringHostKeepAlive any ideas how to troubleshoot this? Again I see no errors and Service manager appears to be fully functioning.
    All help gratefully recieved.

This one is bugging me too.
Am tempted to remove the Microsoft.SystemCenter.MonitoringHostKeepAlive management pack:

  • How to fix managed server inconsistent state

    Hi,
My weblogic domain contains 2 managed servers (not in a cluster) and one Admin Server.
One of my managed servers has previously encounted a problem to start. The problem is solved for this managed server : now, I can start it with the startManagedServer.sh script but I can't start it from the admin console because when it is stopped, its status is "starting" and not "shutdown".
When it is started, its status under the admin console is "running" and I can stop it normally but it is not possible to restart it later with the admin console.
The Admin Server seems to stored the status of this managed server somewhere. How can I re-initialize the managed Server state to manage it from the Admin Console?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Hal

These sort of issues usually occur when your domain is spread across more than one physical servers and you use localhost as listen address for your Admin Server.
Make sure that you give fully qualified domain name as listen address for all the Weblogic instances inside the domain.
I have seen these sort of problems in the past where Admin server doesn't recognize the status of Managed servers when there is inconsistency in listen addresses.
    Hope this helps

  • SOA Managed Server -- STATE -- Admin

    Hello Experts:
    Env:
    Sun Solaris 10
    Web Logic 10.3.6
    SOA 11.1.1.6.0
    2 Node cluster
Installed WLS and SOA. Config went well. When I start SOA Managed server, the STATE is "Admin". The issue is SAME when starting SOA in Command line as well as Console.
When I use Console and try for "resume" it goes to "Active" STATE. How to fix this issue??
I must be able to start SOA from Console and it should go to "Active" state. Can you please help me to fix this??
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rgds
    Natrajan

    Natrajan,
One of the reasons for the managed server to go to ADMIN state is due to the failed deployments.
The failed deployments can be the failed deployments of the application(.war,.ear files) or due to failure in the creation of JDBC Resources/JMS Resources.
Please check in the logs if the managed server reports of any failed deployments.

    Abhinav Gupta

Please suggest me how to resolve this issue.

    Hi,
The problem is that the <b>directory /appl/webbus/bea/user_projects/domains/ITIC-DEVEL-WLI/</b> does not exist at the node, because we have move it to <b>/appl/webdbus/</b> instead of <b>/appl/webbus/</b>. The question is why applications need to create adminServerDevel/upload directory and how can override it.
    Thanks in advanced
