Managing documents on site

Hi,
If I have a series of PDFs as key resources to be called up on various web pages on a site, I wanted to know what tool, extension or module should be implemented into the content management tool in order to manage and control the PDFS globally with great ease? For example, on some pages they will need to be pulled into categories.
Anything out there that you know of? What is best practice for managing these? Obviously, it seems they will require their own database vs. a basic folder on the site called 'pdf'.

This really depends on what you are trying to do.
If a PDF is going to be due to a certain condition, an answer to a questionnaire, etc., then what I would do is to use server-side code to deliver it to the web page as a link. PDFs cannot be "included" as a graphic element on a web page, so they have to be linked for either download or display in a browser that has a plugin that allows it to display a PDF.
If it's something that is related to a particular page, as in a physician's website where the patient can download, print and fill out a new patient form prior to visiting the physician, then it may be included simply through a link.
In the first case, you may either create an array (if you just have a few PDFs for the website) or a MySQL database (if you have a lot) with the names of and links to the PDFs as they reside on your web server. Then it's simple server-side code to include them in a web page when they are needed.

    I followed the
    Note 360105.1 -Understanding and Using Web ADI in Oracle HRMS, and the section "Letters",
    I could follow all the steps, except the following,
    The reason is, when I click on Manage Documents Links, I am not getting my newly created integrator.
    If I link a standard integrator "HR People Details" to my document, that is opening properly.
    But I am not able to link my document with my integrator(which is based on my view).
    c.  Now link the template letter to the Letter Integrator and Layout.
    If not already done so, Add the function WebADI Manage Document Links to your Web ADI menu, and give it a prompt of Link Document.
    Select Link Document option , and Web ADI Mail Merge page displays. Choose your Letter Integrator. Link it to the Layout, and a list of template documents uploaded to the database is displayed. Select the template letter to be linked with the layout.

  • I got a new computer and have reinstalled Dreamweaver.  I don't need to set up a new site, just need to set up reinstalled Dreamweaver to manage the old site on the company server. Does anyone have a step by step walkthrough for doing this?

    The site files are on our server and I can still access them.  I was not the one who installed and set up Dreamweaver initially and don't know very much about the program  Just enough to manage our simple site and keep it updated.  Just need help setting it up so that it's back to managing our website.

    Servers:  Enter your FTP log-in credentials and remote server's root directory.  If unsure, check with your hosting provider for details. 
    Click on TEST button.  If you're unable to connect, click the More Options triangle.

  • PSM-FM-Reversal of funds management document after change in acc.assignment

    Good day we recently went live with a component of Funds Management i.e. Availability Control on Cost centers and cost elements. We update BCS with the plan values and actual/commitment items in Finance/CO. We do our planning in CO.
    The solution is working reasonably well but we have encountered a problem for which we are unable to find a solution. The problem is best illustrated with an example;
    1. Create purchase requisition with Account Assignment Category "K" = Cost Center with transaction ME51N
    2. Account assignment = cost center and cost element. A funds management document is created upon saving of the transaction.
    3. Purchase Req. is released with a release strategy (transaction ME54N)
    4. After purchase requisition release the account assignment for the cost element is changed by the user. This occurs sometimes during the execution of the business process.
    5. When a purchase order is created with reference to this purchase requisition with transaction ME59N  the system references the original funds management document which means when the account assignment was changed the funds management document was not reversed and a new funds management document created for the changed account assignment.
    6. The BUDCON report transaction FMRP_RW_BUDCON thus displays the commitment under the incorrect commitment item as the change in account assignment is not reflected in Funds Management. We have a one to one relationship between cost elements/commitment items and cost centers/funds centers as per the derivation strategy.
    My question is;
    Is this normal standard SAP standard behavior or are we missing some configuration that will enable the creation of a new funds management document and if so where do we configure such?  I must mention our solution is completely SAP standard.

    Hi Mike, nice to meet you.
    I think u should do an entire test with TRACE on, and u will find the problem, and how to fix it (at FMDERIVE of course).
    First: Have a look at note [666322|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/666322], go to FMDERIVE and turn ON the trace.
    Then, run all the process ... from ME51N to the end...
    I agree with Eli, u must allow overwriting of existing values at FMDERIVE rule...

    There is not transaction to display the PS cash document. You have to navigate from the original document,  which generate the PS cash document, e.g. FI document, to the PS cashdocument.

  • Project Cash Management Document after MIRO

    I have activated PS Cash Management by doing the following config.
    1.Create FM
    2.Assign FM to Co.Code
    3.Create Commitment Item
    4.OPI6
    5. OPI4
    I noticed that Project Cash Management document is not created every time i do MIRO.
    Any config /set up i missed out?

    Check the table RPSCO and see if you can find an entry for value type 54 against the relevant OBJNR. CJIA will show you Actual payment line items and these will appear once you have run F-53. In order to see this data in Project Cash management i.e. COFP table, you need to run CJFN for the respective accounting document.
    Ideally, once you do MIRO the same appears in the COFP table as an entry with value type 54. Are you able to see this entry? If not, maybe you need to reconstruct the Project cash Management data for actual postings that have happened from the MM perspective.
    To know more about reconstruction of PS Cash Management go through the note 551980. Personally, i would suggest you to go through this note thoroughly before performing any reconstruction activity.

    The iPad does not include a file management system in the way that a PC does. You may want to think twice about giving up your PC. The iPad is not meant to completely replace a PC.

  • Interation between IBM CM MANAGER (Document management ) and Financial

         We are in the process of implementing the middle ware.
    We have installed the 9iAS release 2 and its components. For integration we are using interconnect.
    We have oracle financials application and IBM applications, trying to integrate the IBM CM MANAGER (Document management system) with oracle Financials.
    Does oracle provide adapters to integrate with IBM CM (Content) MANAGR? Please advice.

  • Importing/managing documents with DM6

    Setting up DM6 was fine and it is syncing organizer and media files fine.   I don't have much need for media files, so I don't care that it is easier.   My issue is I have been unable to determine how to import and manage documents (xls, doc, pdf) I need.   I have looked at every menu and I don't see how to do it.  DM5 was awkward at times, but you could work with documents. 
    Has anyone found how you import documents with DM6?  I hope it is something easy I overlooked like a setting change.

    IMHO, DTM is the most difficult method by which to manage files on the BB. The only usefulness I find is if I need to transcode media files in order for them to play properly on my BB...otherwise, simply using the USB-drive method in Windows Explorer is the simplest method for managing files.     While it's a little dated and talks about prior versions of DTM plus some of the on-device menu settings may be in a different place based on your OS, the basic premise is the same...tether via USB and then have, in your PC interface, two additional drive letters representing your Device Memory and your Media Card Memory. Then you simply use Windows Explorer to manage the files just like you would with any other USB drive (e.g., thumb drive, etc.).

    I have a document center site that has a number of folders. It appears as if the default "inherit from parent" permissions are applied. One a couple of those folders, I need to modify the permissions by removing a group, but not from the other

    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to modify the permissions for different folders on a document center site.
    If the folders are create in the Document Library, you can select the folder, and click “Document Permmision”, and then click “Stop Inherting Permissions” to grant specifical permissions.

  • Can't get toolbar to display on knowledge management document iview..?

    Hi All,
    We're using MSS 60.1.20.  I have created a number of iviews based on documents stored in KM.  These documents are process forms used by management and so need to be saved and printed, therefore I need to display these documents with a toolbar.
    So, no matter which option I select in the 'Launch in New Window' attribute on the iview, the toolbar does not appear.
    Also I've tried adding 'toolbars=yes' in the Window Features attribute of the iview but it makes no difference.
    Is its the case that for knowledge management document iviews that toolbars do not appear as standard?

    It looks like you need to update a line of your css and take out align attribute from your markup for problamatic table. Please do following:
    1- page1.css : Line 15: take out following line which says : background-position: center top;
    2- Please modify your following markup:

  • Don't allow rights managed documents convert into PDF?

    Hi,
    Is there a way or solution to restrict right managed documents convert to PDF via pdf converter such as PrimoPDF, cutePDF & etc..
    1 obvious solution is not granting the permission to print, but by doing this the user will not able to print the hardcopy.. just want to prevent document being distributed out as softcopy (in pdf format) but able to print hardcopy.
    Any idea?

    I am not aware of anyway to allow "hard copy" printing while preventing "sofy copy" printing to PDF as the same "print" permission is used for both.
    I would recommend that if possible you take advantage of the dynamic watermark feature in Rights Management.  You could set the watermark to display the users name, athough it is no guarantee, it would discourage ht euser from distributing a PDF with his or her name on it.
    Also, even if we could prevent the "soft-copy" print to PDF, there is no way to prevent a user from taking the paper copy (that they were allowed to print) and then scanning it with a copier to convert it to PDF or some other soft copy format.  The dynamic watermark feature could be used in this case as well to discourage users from converting and distributing the document.
