Manipulate / change query result object

Hi experts,
I've enhanced my Activity Search and the result set to. BUT, my custom fields of the result set are still empty. I don't want to fill the custom fields via the GET_-Methods because then it is not possible to sort by my custom fields. But I have to sort by them.
I tried to manipulate my result object in eh_onsearch event. if you try lr_entity->set_properties( ls_attributes ) the properties will not be updated, because by definition, it is not allowed to manipulate result objects.
Is there a chance to update them anyway.
Thanks and regards,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian
What is the approach you followed to create the custom fields (AET or appending fields to strcutures) if you use the AET pls check the below things
1) while creating are you selected that custom fields should be extended to both search and reuslt structures.
2) please check the generated custom fields info in Transaction Genil_model_browser under folder advanced search query the field should extend in Advanced search structure and search result structure.
3) use the right custom fields on the correct configuration.
in the above scenario the fields will be automatically filled with data
if you extend the BOL structures the with the customfield then you have to implement the necessary badi to fill the custom fields.
Thanks & Regards

  • How to create 'Query Result Object' entity?

    Hi Gurus,
I have come across a situation where i need to create an entity [not a value node] of object type 'Query Result Object', and set the values.
Its possible to create an entity of type 'Root object', but was not able to find a way to create other object types.
Please find below, the details of the query result object:
    Component: CRMAUI
    Object: AUIHANAQR
    Object type: Query Result
    Attribute Structure: CRMS_AUI_SRCH_RESULT_HANA
The above entity is part of the collection which in turn is the result set of a dynamic query search. Due to a particular requirement, we need to add some more entries of the same object type in the result in the 'search event' itself.
Please find below, the details of the corresponding dynamic query object:
    Object: AUIQueryHANA
    Object type: Dynamic Query
Kindly let me know if you have come across such situation before and please share the solution if you have any.
Your help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Arun N  K.

    Hello,
In fact there is not really entities for query result object, it's entries in the result table.
So you need to modify the search to add more results, usually there are some badi to do so, or maybe you can extend the class used to perform the query in order to add some results.

  • Retrieving BEx Query Results Area for use in Excel formulas

    Hello,
I run BEx queries in workbooks and then use Excel formulas ( mostly VLOOKUP(LookupValue, ResultsArea, ColumnReturned,) ) to retrieve certain information from the query ResultsArea.
    ****Problem:
Depending on the query parameters, the query "Results Area" is larger or smaller.
    ****Non-optimal solution:
One way to define the  ever changing Excel range occupied by the Results Area is to create an Excel name as:
    QueryRange = OFFSET(QueryFirstCell,,,COUNTA(OFFSET(Sheet1!$A:$A,,COLUMN(QueryFirstCell)-1,,)),COUNTA(OFFSET(Sheet1!$1:$1,ROW(QueryFirstCell)-1,,,)))
Then, the only input required is the top-left cell of the Results Area, which stays the same (unless the query definition changes).
    ****Question
What is the best way to refer to an ever-changing query Results Area in an Excel formula?
    Thank you!
    Louis

It is actually much easier than that.
Use a VBA statement like the following:
    Set RptRng = ActiveCell.CurrentRegion
This will retrieve the data in the Results Area, no matter what the size is.
    Hope this helps...

  • 2.1EA2: Pinning Query Results and changing Connections [fixed in 2.1.0]

I am on 2.1EA2 (JDK 1.6.0_16) and been playing with the new SQL Worksheet pin query results functionality. I have found that it is possible to run a query against one connection, pin the results and then change connection and run the same (or a different) query against another connection. I really like this, but found a few problems:
#1 There doesn't seem to be any way to tell which connection a query result tab was actually run against
#2 Even if all rows are fetched, if I then disconnect from the first connection it can get quite messy. Sometimes I get an empty connection dialog (I can't remember the exact title and it doesn't reproduce consistently) with only the close window X in the corner. Some times I get prompted to log in with a connection information dialog with no reference to the connection it is connecting to - cancelling only brings up the same dialog again until I successfully connect. Some times I get prompted to log in and while that is still on the screen, SQL Developer logs me back in to the connection (even though I don't save passwords) - I even get a new worksheet for the reconnected connection.
    theFurryOne

    Raghu,
    I am happy with both.
#1 - I would be happy if the connection name was at the start of the tool-tip style pop-up when hovering over Query Results tab and the Query Result SQL dialog that opens on the SQL button. -K-'s suggestion makes it immediately obvious for the currently selected Query Results tab, without having to move the mouse or click on something.
Ideally, I would like something similar for the other output tabs (ie Script Output), but they seem to show results for all connections that the worksheet has used, so the same concept may not work.
#2 - I am used to the grid being cleared when disconnecting from earlier versions - I assumed that this was a bug where SQLD was not checking the connection of the results, just the current connection of the worksheet.

  • Using "Restrict by app" in change query causes issues with Search Results

    Hello!
I am hoping some experienced SP admin can help me out. I am having issues with the relevance ranking for my search results web part.
I created a Wiki (OOTB) within a site collection and on the home page of the Wiki I was looking to apply a Search Box and Search Results web part for easy searching. I wanted to ensure the search results were restricted to the scope of the pages within the
wiki. I did the following after adding the 2 web parts:
Entered edit mode for the page
Started to edit the Search Results web part
Under Properties for Search Results clicked on "Change Query"
Navigated to BASICS and clicked "Switch to Quick Mode"
For Select Query, picked "Wiki (System)" option
For Restrict by app, picked "Specify a URL" and input the wiki URL "http://webapp.com/sites/sitecollection/wiki"
    Click OK
The web part has 6 automatic results when I hit the page. These are the only 6 pages in my wiki. When I search a word or title of a page, they are not ranked in order or relevance. The ordering is static to what was being shown before the search, but the
keywords I'm searching are bold. With out the taking the steps above, I can easily search these pages and have them ranked appropriately so I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong.
    Other Details
The pages have been crawled and can be searched from anywhere else in SP.
I am only a site collection admin for this specific site collection.
I other than the steps above, I have not made any changes or customization to the search web parts; they are both out of the box SP.
The SP Farm admin we unable to pin point what the root cause is either.

    Hi Mikael,
Sorry for the wait, I was unable to post pictures, which i felt would better describe my issue.
Could you output the query template you are ending up with?
If you can tell me how to accomplish this, then I can provide it. Please keep in mind that I am only a site collection admin.
Also, is the ranking/sorting for your webpart set to ranking?
When looking at the web part settings, I didn't see an option to modify the ranking. Unfortunately, some sites in my intranet are down now so I can't even double check. Once it's back up, I will verify this as well.
And how do you know they are ranked incorrectly?
I wanted to display an image showing what I meant by this. As the wiki is down, I'll do my best with words. When I visit the wiki home page, I already have the search and search results web parts there. Without searching anything, the search results
web part displays 6 pages that are available in the wiki. When I search, I expect to see the most relevant result at the top. similar to the following:
*Search result from another section of the intranet site.*
What I receive instead is the same list of wiki pages, in the same order. The most relevant result
is not moved to the top like in the image above, but I can see that the word "rush" is highlighted in bold. I hope this helps.
If you need more of a description, please let me know.
    Thank you

  • Query result closing prematurely, Object closed error

    Hi guys
I've discovered an unusual behaviour when iterating through a collection
    returned from a query.
    Scenario
The code executes a query, iterates partially through the resultset and for
each row calls a method which creates another object. Given that there
could be thousands of rows, I commit the new objects every n times and then
go back to the start of the loop which re-executes the query. This code runs
    fine when
    MAX_SCHEDULES_PER_TRANS <= com.solarmetric.kodo.DefaultFetchBatchSize.
    Problem
If the DefaultFetchBatchSize is 10, and I commit every 11 iterations, then
during the 3rd outer loop (ie commit has succeeded twice and the query has
been executed 3 times) an exception is thrown when calling events.next() on
the 10th element. The stack trace is included below, but it appears that
the query resultset is somehow being closed early.
If I increase the DefaultFetchBatchSize to 20, then I can also increase my
MAX_SCHEDULES_PER_TRANS to 20 without getting the error.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for pointing out the optimisticLockException catch error. That would
have been a bug but it hasn't been hit yet as I've only ever run one
    instance of this app!!
The BOIterator is just wrapper layer and I have removed it to ensure it is
not the culprit. Still getting the same error.
I have done some more testing and have narrowed down the problem a little.
It seems to only occur when I update one of the columns that is being used
in the query. If I update a column that is not used in the query, it works
    fine.

    Nathan-
I guess you are right that it doesn't look like the query result is
being kept open between commits. I do notice that the block that catches
the OptimisticLockException doesn't break out of the loop though: can
you check to ensure that one isn't getting thrown?
Also, what is the com.mallesons.servicenet.ta.shared.BOIterator stuff?
If it is a wrapper layer that you have around the query execution,
can you try removing it, just to ensure that it isn't misbehaving in
    some way?

    Hi Marc,
Bug 718 certainly seems similar, however I still don't think it is
necessarily the problem in this case. That particular bug relates to the
resultset that was opened prior to commit, not remaining open after the
commit. However, once I've committed, I call query.closeAll() then re
execute the query. I would expect this to give me a new resultset that
would not be affected by the previous commit.
Also the CURSOR_CLOSE_ON_COMMIT is disabled by default and we haven't
enabled it. A query against the database using one of the SQLServer
functions confirms that this setting is false on the server.
Predictably, instantiating the entire collection also fixes the problem.
    I
guess this is similar to setting DefaultFetchThreshold = -1.
Not really sure what else to try.

    Nathan-
    This sounds to me like
http://bugzilla.solarmetric.com/show_bug.cgi?id=718 , even though it is
not known to happen for SQLServer. If, before you commit, you
instantiate the entire "col" list (with something like
"new LinkedList (col)"), do you still see the problem?
If this is indeed the problem, it seems that this is a server option
that you can configure. If you disable CURSOR_CLOSE_ON_COMMIT on the
server, do you still see the problem? See:

For efficiency, if I am iterating through 50 objects beforecommitting

    it is probably worth setting
    DefaultFetchThreshold=50
    DefaultFetchBatchSize=50

However, that doesn't address the underlying problem that could stilloccur

First can you upgrade to Kodo 2.5.4 and see if the problem persists?
If so, can you for the sake of debugging try setting
    DefaultFetchThreshold to -1?
Also you should be calling either query.closeAll () or query.close(events).

    Hi guys
I've discovered an unusual behaviour when iterating through a
    collection
    returned from a query.
    Scenario
The code executes a query, iterates partially through the
    resultset
    and
    for
each row calls a method which creates another object. Given that
    there
could be thousands of rows, I commit the new objects every n timesand
    then
go back to the start of the loop which re-executes the query. This
    code
    runs
    fine when
    MAX_SCHEDULES_PER_TRANS <=
    com.solarmetric.kodo.DefaultFetchBatchSize.
    Problem
If the DefaultFetchBatchSize is 10, and I commit every 11
    iterations,
    then
during the 3rd outer loop (ie commit has succeeded twice and the
    query
    has
been executed 3 times) an exception is thrown when calling
    events.next()
    on
the 10th element. The stack trace is included below, but it
    appears
    that
the query resultset is somehow being closed early.
If I increase the DefaultFetchBatchSize to 20, then I can also
    increase
    my
MAX_SCHEDULES_PER_TRANS to 20 without getting the error.
    Any ideas?

  • Problems in creation of workbook using Change query local view.

    Hi Experts,
I have created a Multiprovider by using union of two infocubes and created a Query based on Multiprovider.  I want to restrict one infocube in Change Query local view for creating new workbooks.  In Query global view we drag and drop the Infocube under Filters, but in the Query local view Filter panel is in disable mode. (My requirement is to create the workbooks using change query local view only)
How can I restrict the one Infocube values in the workbooks by using Change query local view?
    Thanks in advance.
    Venkat.

    Hi Venkat Prasad
As you told that the query is on multi provider and the view is not allowing to declare/define filter value
Just drag the infoprovider info object avilable under packet dimension to rows and right click on it restrict by selecting the name of the info provider when u right click it will show you the option of restrict once u click on it,it will takes to u a pop up where you can able to see the name of info providers and you specify according to it and finally in the display of results if you dont want to to display the info provider name then just right click on the 0infoprovider object under rows go to properties then choose hide option under display.
    Hope its clear a little..!

    VERYLONGTABLENAME, VLTN

No you do not need to create a local variable that is a copy of the arguments variable as the arguments scope is already local to the function, but you do not properly reference the arguments scope, so you leave yourself open to using a 'txt' variable in another scope.  Thus the better practice would be to reference "arguments.txt" where you need to.
    Two:
I know what I want to happen, I know how to make it happen in another programming language, just not CF9.
Then a better start would be to descirbe what you want to happen and give a simple example in the other programming language.  Most of us are muti-lingual and can parse out clear and clean code in just about any syntax.
    Three:
    <cfloop index="idx_str" list="#qAbrvs#">      <!--- Is this correct?  I think not. --->
I think you want to be looping over your "qAbrvs" record set returned by your earlier query, maybe.

    Four:
    <cfset output_str = Replace(output_str, "#idx_str#", )  <!--- Is this correct?  I think not. --->
Continuing on that assumption I would guess you want to replace each instance of the long string with the short string form that record set.
    <cfset output_str = Replace(output_str,qAbrs.TBLNM,qAbrs.ABRV,"ALL")>
    Five:
</cfloop>               <!--- What am I looping on?  What is the index? How do I do the string replacement? --->
If this is true, then you are looping over the record set of tablenames and abreviations that you want to replace in the string.

  • Key instead of Text in Results Object in Crystal Reports For Enterprise

    Hi All
I recently developed a report in Crystal Reports for Enterprise and at some point afterwards the text description of the hierarchy used in the report was changed.  The Key remained the same, however this caused the report to crash.  The solution was to click Edit Query Option in the Results Objects and simply come out without changing anything.  This refreshed the results object pane and the report ran as normal.   I work in an environment where the text of hierarchies is liable to change frequently and without notice and it will be unfeasible for me to constantly refresh the results object every time a change to a hierarchy is made.  Therefore is there a way to define in CRE to use the Hierarchy key instead of the text as this is less likely to altered?
    Many Thanks in advance
    Neil

Excuse me I have my terminologies mixed up, what I mean is the name of the characteristic used in the report.  An example would be a characteristic called with the text of "Material" and a key of "0MATERIAL", if I were to change the text description to "MAT" and the key where to remain the same.  This would cause crystal report to error because it expecting the Characteristic name to be "Material".  Is there a setting or something in CRE to have it default to the key only so if the text of a characteristic or even a key figure for that matter where changed there would be no impact to the Crystal report.
I hope this makes more sense this time round
    Thanks

We are using Webi 4.0. When we create a query (say the filter is too specific ...), once we get the No data to retrieve. error, result objects can be removed, but not added. In the left pane, we are unalbe to even select a browser object. Also filter items cannot be selected, removed or modified. We have tested in different IE's with different java clients and the bug is consistent. If we run the query again and edit, eventually we can change the filter, but this process has to be done over and over.
    Any fixes?

    Hello,
what patch level are you on?
    Thanks!

  • Odac 12.1 Oracle.VsDevTools Cannot edit query results

I am running Windows 7 64-bit and Visual Studio 2010
    I installed ODTwithODAC121010 successfully.
In Visual Studios Help>About it shows: Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio 12.1.0.1.0
    Issue:
After updating to odac 12.1 I can no longer edit/insert data into the query builder results pane.
I have relied on this capability in previous versions of odac.
    Has this feature been removed?
I've connected to multiple Oracle 11g dbs with same results below:
I get the following response when I attempt to edit a field in the query results pane:
    No row was updated.
The data in row 10 was not committed.
    Error Source: .
Error Message: Unable to parse expression.
Correct the errors and retry or press ESC to cancel the change(s).
I get the following response when I paste a new row in the query results pane:
    No row was updated.
The data in row 11 was not committed.
    Error Source: Oracle.VsDevTools.10.0.
Error Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Correct the errors and retry or press ESC to cancel the change(s).
Is there something I need to do to enable this?
What are some good alternatives if this capability is no longer supported?

    Hi George Pertea,
    Thanks for the reply.
I am in the edit query mode and also the query tool bar is enabled.
But my "view sql" button is disabled,I cannot click on it.
I am logged in as "Admin" , so what is the problem.
I was able to do that in XI R2 before.
    Please help me!
    Thanks

  • Service Offering, Query Results question.

    Hi,
I got a question about the Service Offering, Query Results criteria page.
As shown in the Picture below i have a Query based on the Active Directory User Class.
The background is that i got alot of accounts more than 2000. The token "String" is used to narrow down the search. I also got some accounts that i dont want to show in the portal for the end users (The ones who
ends with "Z" in the pager).
Generally i would say that the "OR" would be "AND" (due to it is an logical operator, i want both conditions to be true) between the two UserPager properties, but i havent found any way to change that. I suspect that it is not possible
to change "OR" to "AND" when making criterias against the same values more than 1 time.
The Query below will return all accounts under that Distinguished name, even if i wrote something in the String prompt.  Removing the Criteria Pager ends on "Z" makes the String prompt work. But it will not exclude those objects ending with
    Z. Is this a normal behavior or am i thinking/doing sometime wrong?

This is how all criterias work in service manager. If the same property is included more than once it puts an OR inbetween. You would have to export the MP that contains the query result and edit the criteria manually to AND.
