Manipulating images in OWB

Hello friends
I need to extract images from an Oracle DB, and save that images in a fileSystem. Can i do that with OWB?
Thanks in advance

You'll need to install your Developer Tools, then you'll find "Image Texturing Properties - Reflection Gradient.qtz" at this path.
+Macintosh HD+/Developer/Examples/Quartz Composer/Compositions/Conceptual
You can load an image into the first note of the composition
Then, in the final two "Sprite" nodes, alter the "Y Rotation" to something like 25 (whatever number you choose, both have to be the same)
You should see something similar to what is posted on this page in step 5

  • Color Shifts when manipulating images

    I am taking images from cameras in the sRGB color space and converting them into thumbnails in AIR.  The user is then able to rotate the photos to the proper orientation if needed.  This is accomplished by manipulating bitmapdata using matrices.  During testing, I noticed that if I rotated images 8 or 9 times, there was a clear shift in the colors that was occuring towards green.  I was wondering if there are things that can be done to avoid this?  Here is some of the code used to rotate the images.
         var rotBM:Bitmap = Bitmap(event.currentTarget.content);
         // Calculate rotation and offsets
         var radians:Number = 90 * (Math.PI / 180.0);
         var offsetWidth:Number = 70/2.0;
         var offsetHeight:Number =  70/2.0;
         // Perform rotation
         var matrix:Matrix = new Matrix();
         matrix.translate(-1*offsetWidth, -1*offsetHeight);
         matrix.rotate(radians);
         matrix.translate(offsetHeight, offsetWidth);
         //get BitmapData
         var rotBitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData(70, 70);
         rotBitmapData.draw(rotBM, matrix);
    I know that in the draw() method of the BitmapData class, that there are parameters that deal with color transforms but I do not know if that would help here.  Does anyone with experience with color transforms and manipulating images know how to ensure that I stay within the sRGB colorspace or why I might be seeing this color shift?
    Thanks

    Anyone have any experience with color transforms that might have some insight?

  • JPG picture combine horizantally/vertically by manipulating image data

    All
    Please look at attached VI. I have two graphs that I wish to merge as one. I tried playing with image data and I've been successful in merging them veritically. I've not been able to place them side by side. Does any one have experience with picture manipulation ?
    Kudos always welcome for helpful posts

    Because talk is cheap I figured I would give a try at the merge of two images horizontally and vertically.  Attached is what I was thinking.  It uses the OpenG Picture tools to open the image but could be removed if you know the file format of the image.
    Alternativly I could have used something like what is shown here to translate the pictures which would probably be more efficient.

  • Had a question on manipulating images

    I was wondering if someone could help. I had an idea of loading an image of an office on the iphone and then somehow programming different parts of that image like a book on the table or a trash can such that when u scroll over the book or trash can they get highlighted. Would i have to create different views for the trash can and book or can i manipulate one image to select different sections of the image

    Hi alpha, and welcome to the Dev Forums!
    If your objects only need two states, the easiest choice would be to use the support for highlighting in UIImageView. That class can be initialized with two UIImages: normal and highlighted (e.g. see highlightedImage in the UIImageView Class Reference).
    Of course this solution assumes your view consists of a background image with objects that are subviews. If all the features in the view are part of one big image, the job of redrawing the correct portions of the image is much more difficult.
    So to answer your question directly:
    Would i have to create different views for the trash can and book
    Generally much easier (and more flexible since you might want to move the objects around one of these days);
    or can i manipulate one image to select different sections of the image
    This can be done, but if you want to change the appearance of a selected section, the programming effort (and the required skill level) will be much greater.
    Hope that helps!

  • Manipulating Images (Preview, etc.)

    I found a website that lets you download old books (public domain). Each page is saved as a jp2 image, which I can't open with my CS3 version of Photoshop. My goal is to open these images, resize and crop them, then save them for my website with the appropriate extension - .jpg, .png, etc.
    Anway, I've been researching tools that will help me manipulate these images - resize them, change file names, open them, etc. I just discovered that I can resize images with Preview. So here's my first question:
    Is there a way to do a BATCH CHANGE with Preview? In other words, can I select an entire folder full of images and reduce them in size by 50% for example?
    Also, are there other Mac tools that will help me manipulate images?
    I found a plugin that enables me to open jp2 images in Photoshop (CS3), and I could have sworn it was working, but it suddenly stopped working for some reason. I'm currently trying a trial version of Pixelmator, which opens jp2 images.
    Thanks.

    To batch change via Preview,
    Select the photos to change and double click.
    Select all the photos on the left hand side of the Preview application.
    Go to the Menu and click on Tools then Adjust Size...
    Change the number next to Resolution to half of its value.
    Press OK.
    And you're done!

  • My manipulated images come out with a green color cast and poor quality

    I manage my photos with ACDSee, but use Photoshop CS3 for much of my editing. The image leaves ACDSee with rich true colors, and while I'm editing in Photoshop the image looks like I want it. But when I save the image and view it in ACDSee, it now is faded, has a green color cast and looks faded, dull and shallow. What do you think is happening? Thanks.  Rickrans

    One other place to look....  If you shoot raw images, there's a separate configuration for the color space the Camera Raw converter delivers its results in.  Click the little link at the bottom-center of the Camera Raw dialog.  If you want to work in the sRGB color space, change it as shown here:

  • Huge file size discrepancies when manipulating images

    All,
    I had some help from some of you last week with some conversions from Word to FrameMaker that made me realize it would be a good idea to start pasting plain text in from my Word documents, and now I have come up with a real puzzler.
    See if this makes any sense.
    I created a chapter using the paste plain text from Word method. I don't have the exact size, but the chapter turned out a reasonable size, maybe 100K at most. Then I realized all the graphics were in by reference. Now, I have worked places in the past where we never put our graphics in by reference because of the graphics management issues, so I reimported my graphics (all JPGs, 5 of them, and varying anywhere from about 10K to 150K each) directly into the document. My chapter became a whopping 5000K! This is a five-page chapter folks! With a document of about 70 pages to convert, I will easily and quickly run out of disk space before I can check it in.
    So, I reimported all my graphics to "by reference." Was I naive to expect my document to return to the original size? Now my chapter is nearly 2500K, about 10 or more times its original size.
    I don't remember ever having any size issues with FrameMaker when I used it before (for about 15 years, from FM2.0 to 6.0). Does anyone have any suggestions of how to return this document to a reasonable size without starting over again, pasting plain text in from Word?
    One person at work has suggested that there is still some "gunk" from the Word files in my document and that
    Kay Robart

    Hi,
    I just tested that myself: Created a new document, imported a JPG file by reference (file size almost didn't change, something around 40 kB), then deleted everything, imported a JPG file by copying (file size was now about 1 MB), deleted everything and saved, and the file size was around 40 kB again. Changing the setting "Save FrameImage with Imported Grahics" didn't make a difference.
    Therefore FM is able to get rid of the imported graphics file.
    Did you really delete the imported graphics file first, before you imported the same graphics file by reference?
    You should also delete all graphics (copied and by reference) and then check the file size. If it still has 2.5 MB, convert to MIF and check whether there is anything left. Use the free MIFBrowse utility to search in the MIF file (or any other text editor) and search for "jpg" or the file name.
    You can get MIFBrowse here:

  • Potential for fraudulent manipulation of medical images using CS5?

    This is an unusual issue that I would welcome comment upon. A recent scientific paper in a peer-reviewed medical journal on Diagnostic Imaging has drawn attention to the fact that medical images produced by Computed Tomographic (CT) scanners can easily be manipulated using Photoshop to alter the diagnostic information produced - so that, for instance, the liver can be 'cured' of evidence of cancer, and, that normal livers can be changed so that they show 'evidence' of cancer. As a Consultant Radiologist and as a photographer who uses CS5, there's no doubt that such manipulations are relatively easy to use, and are, in the right hands, highly convincing.
    This clearly has the potential for abuse, both in the presentation of fraudulent research data, and even in the alteration of medical-legal evidence.
    I wonder if anyone has any thoughts as to how this potential for serious abuse could be managed? Is it possible, for instance, to 'tag' images so that there is an indelible 'paper-trail' of manipulation, so that any image carries am audit trail of what has happened to it, or has this potentially nasty horse already bolted?

    Abuse and fraud in research papers can happen anywhere in the line of contribution, not just in manipulating images. There are strict guidelines in all the respected journals as to what photo-manipulations are ok (global color, contrast and brightness adjustments are fine... to a point). Clone Stamp Tool and Healing Brush are not.  Of course some people use the editing tools ethically (remove a piece of dust or a scratch on a slide, or adjust the vignetting of a microscope image). Researchers I work with take their presensation of data seriously.  The consequences are severe if any lab or researcher is caught falsifying data.
    But like Jeff said, Photoshop did not make it possible to “fake” data, it just made it easier. People have been manipulating images from the the get-go. For example this iconic picture of Linclon is Lincoln's head  "photoshopped"  onto John Calhoun's body, circa 1860. Or the first well known multi-image photo-composite by Oscar Rejlander in 1857! (Two Ways of Life) something like 32 individual images make up that early composite.
    I saw a demo a while back at a PhotoshopWorld conference (2006 in Las Vegas?) of software that could examine an image to detect areas of "cloning" . Not sure what came of that, but I'm sure there is some diagnostic software that could be used on questionable images. Still, at some point, trust in professionals (scientists, researchers, photographers) comes into play.
    EDIT:
    I just saw that Chris Cox had a link to Rejlander!
    Here is another Rejlander from 1858: The Head of St. John the Baptist (on a platter)

  • Aperture API to Call External Image Manipulation Program

    Does the Aperture API allow someone to write a plugin to call an external image manipulation program (the one I'm thinking about is command line only) for image manipulations that would then take the manipulated image back into the library as a version of the original?

    That should be possible, but you'd have to make sure that the remapped result was saved back into the same file that was sent to it, and that the command-line tool can cope with 16-bit images.
    By the way, are you using a PanoTools-variant or something else for the defishing?

  • Store Image

    hiii
    i have the following scenario :
    i have a form with 3 text_items(STD_ID,STD_NAME,STD_ADRERSS)
    and 1 image_item(STD_IMG) ... AND BUTTON with a when_button_pressed trigger(read_image_file'D:\std_img\'||:STD_ID||'.jpg','jpg','STD_IMAGE'); ...
    NOW i fill the three text_items and then press the button to get the Image into the image_item all is done successfully ... BUT now i want to Insert them all
    (3 text_items & the image) in a table:(STD_ID,STD_NAME,STD_ADRERSS,STD_IMAGE')
    suppose i have another button to insert ...

    The trigger text for the insert button should say COMMIT_FORM;
    Provided you have a column ascociated with the image_item all the data including the image will be saved to the database. That column can be a long or a blob.
    WebUtil can also be used for manipulating images.

  • Output jpeg looks different than edited RAW image

    I just got CS6 and have been working on some new images in RAW.  Once I finished the editing I wanted to do in RAW, I saved the image as a jpeg, then clicked "open image" at the bottom of the RAW window.  The image that came up in Photoshop looked nothing like my edited RAW image.  It's as if none of the edits ever occurred.  I've looked on the internet and tried figuring it out on my own.  I'm at a loss and would appreciate the help.

    Noel - first of all, thanks much for taking the time to respond to my question.  You helped me realize (and I should have realized this last night) that my question and problem statement lacked a lot of detail.  I'm new to Photoshop, but I've learned a good lesson.  Here's some more details:  I use a Nikon D700, WIndows XP OS, and CS6.  After taking the images from my memory card directly into Bridge, I can see that the images look "good", meaning they match what I was seeing on my camera display.  The metadata for my photo of interest states that the color profile is RGB, and I assume this is sRGB?  I open the .nef file directly into CS6 RAW.  Once again the image in RAW looks just like it did in Bridge and on my camera display.  I like how it looks in general, but I make the manipulations I want in RAW (removing blemishes, softening skin, etc).  Prior to saving the manipulated image, I click on the Workflow Options link below the image and choose 8-bit, sRGB, then save it as a .jpeg.  Photoshop's color space has also previously been set to sRGB, so the two match.  If I open the image from RAW directly into Photoshop or open the newly created .jpeg from Bridge into Photoshop, the image no longer looks like what I saw in RAW.  The image looks sort of hazy, the black background that was completely black in the RAW image is now visible in the Photoshop image, and the model's skin, which looked nice and smooth in RAW, now looks pixelated.
    You suggestions about color management make sense, and I bet I'm still making some sort of mistake in that regard.  Any ideas?

  • Placing Images and PPI issues

    Hello, I am new to InDesign.. I am a digital artist who has only used PS in the past, so I'm used to manipulating images however I like concerning PPI, DPI, and pixels. I am now creating an app for ipad use and created the background images for the pages in PS. Now, I'm placing them into ID. When I do that, no matter what I have the file saved as, it converts the image to a different ppi.
    When I created the images in PS, I used the standard ipad resolution (262px) and dimensions. When I created the ID file, I used the standard ipad dimensions and the ppi is obviously much lower, at 72?
    Is there a way to set the ID resolution, or do I need to create my documents with only 72ppi? This doesn't seem like it would give the best image viewing available on the ipad.
    Thank you!

    InDesign respects the original size and resolution of images, as long as you keep them at 100% of the original size. When they are at 100%, the "Actual ppi" and "Effective ppi" fields of the Info panel display the same value. In your specific case, the Info panel needs to show "262" in both fields. If not, it means that the respective image is scaled. To verify its scale, click the image using the Direct Selection Tool (the "white arrow" one) and look at the percentage fields in the Control Panel. (By the way, the resolution of the retina iPads is 264 ppi, not 262.)
    When importing an image, the easiest way to assure that it will be placed at 100% is simply clicking the loaded cursor instead of dragging it. Give it a try.
    But bear in mind that this "ppi" issue only matters for print publications. For tablet apps, what is important is the number of pixels; the resolution is irrelevant. For retina iPads, you need to use twice the size you use in a standard screen iPad. So, if you want a full-page image in an old iPad, the image dimensions must be 1024 by 768 pixels. If you want the same image in full screen on a retina iPad, create it with 2048 by 1536 pixels. You'll get a better explanation here: http://www.planetquark.com/2012/03/14/132-ppi-72-dpi-264-ppi-what-image-resolution-should- you-use-the-for-new-ipad/#.UhdbsLwWFL8

  • Change Image Colors

    i have a MacBook1,1 running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I would like to be able to change an images specific color. Lets say I have an image with only blue and black and I want to change the blue to green. Is there any app that does that?
    Thank you in advance,
    Eric

    You get the colors with Image.getRGB(). You can then separate the channels with bitwise ands:
    int[] pixels = new int[width * height];
    img.getRGB(pixels,0,width,0,0,width,height);
    int onePixel = pixels[0];
    int blue = onePixel & 0xff;
    int green = (onePixel & 0xff00) >> 8;
    int red = (onePixel & 0xff0000) >> 16;
    int alpha = (onePixel & 0xff000000) >> 24;You manipulate the channels like you see fit, then you recreate the pixel with bitwise ors, and use Image.createRGBImage() to create the new manipulated image:
    int newPixel = (alpha << 24) | (red << 16) | (green << 8) | blue;
    Image manipulated = Image.createRGBImage(newPixels,width,height,true);shmoove

  • Which image file type is best to use for iTunes artwork?

    I have quite a few songs in my library which do not have any official artwork available for them, so I have used other images and altered them in Photoshop by adjusting colours and creating transparent backgrounds.
    Re: transparent backgrounds, I saved the manipulated image as a PNG file and sure enough the artwork displayed with a transparent background in Coverflow, which of course looks great.
    But after shutting down my machine and restarting it and iTunes, the artwork with the backgrounds which I thought I had edited reverts to having a solid background.
    Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

    Yes it is possible in InDesign. You will have to judge whether you feel more proficient in doing something new in Photoshop or in InDesign.
    If you restrict this to being done in Photoshop, you just need to change the color mode to duotone and export the PDF file with the 'high quality print' profile or similar. Some other PDF settings may convert your duotone to a regular CMYK or RGB image.
