Manual Uninstallation of System Voices in Tiger

I have found a third-party solution for Macintosh Text-to-Speech that provides voices better than those of Apple and in more languages (German, French, Spanish, UK English, US English, etc.) For those who are interested, it is most efficient to just give the compay website (www.cepstral.com) and then everything will become clear. Please note that I have nothing to do with the company, I just use the software.
The presence of the better third-party voices means that I longer need the original, Apple-provided voices which Tiger insists on installing (Agnes, Zarvox, Trinoids, Bad News, etc.) Now they just take up space. Previous versions of Mac OSX allowed you to leave out at least some of these voices. I have checked with Apple, and they confirm that it is no longer possible to tell Tiger not to install these voices. So, does anyone know how to manually delete the files that hold the Apple voices, while leaving the rest of Apple's Speech System intact? Thank you.

Thank you! The issue has been resolved. I followed the path you provided and destroyed only the folders that contained the voices themselves, leaving intact the essential synthesizer folder, recognizer folder, etc. The voices themselves took up more space than you estimated -- a total of 41.8 MB!

Manually install system voices

I'm a language enthusiast, and love experimenting with the text to speech functions in OS X. I've got a Mini that has all of the system voices downloaded (yes, all 21GB of them), and that process took several days of going back and manually telling it to download more, since my connection didn't take kindly to so much being downloaded all at once.
I now have a Retina MBP as well, and I'd like to not have to put up with all of that hassle. I've copied all of the files out of /System/Library/Speech/Voices on the Mini and put them in the corresponding folder on the MBP, but in spite of that it still says that it has to download the voice to install it, even after a restart. Is there something I can do to force it to recognize the files in the folder?

by the way, i used command ORADIM -NEW -SID xxx -INTPWD xxx to create the new instance
and i did not use oracle assistant to create the new database, instead, I used command CREATE DATABASE xxx LOGFILE xxx CONTROLFILE xxxx.....
also i did set the ORACLE_SID to new SID.....

Hi, I have the iphone 4 and I manually deleted all the voice memos on my iphone but they still appear on my iphone when I open Itunes on my computer and they still take up space. I am soon running out of space. Any ideas to permanantly get rid of some of the voice memos?
Am I the only one that really dislike the fact I cannot customize my iphone and cannot delete whatever files I want?
The only options i seem to have is to delete all my files WITHOUT a system restor because I tried doing a system restore and it puts back all my old files on my iphones.
I'm pretty desperate and any tips would help me a lot

If I understand you correctly, you purchased two albums directly from your iPhone and have successfully transferred the purchases to your iTunes library, but now you want to remove these two albums from your iPhone but having trouble, correct?
If so, you can manually delete the albums (song-by-song) by sliding your finger across each song's name, from left to right, then select the Delete button.
Or, while your iPhone is connected to iTunes click on the Music tab that you see in iTunes (where you specify what items to sync to your iPhone). At the bottom of that window (below Playlists, Genre, etc.) you'll see songs that are "manually" added to your iPhone, just un-check those and re-sync.

Separate u r trial balance in following
gl account use key 40/5O GIVE NET EFECT TO OP BAL ACCT
Asset- use key 70 -75 GIVE NET EFECT TO OP BAL ACCT
Customer use key 01/11 GIVE NET EFECT TO OP BAL ACCT
Vendor use key 21/31 GIVE NET EFECT TO OP BAL ACCT
Material accts - this will be loaded thru mm and bal will go to initail entry acct revert one enrty from that to OP BAL ACCT
now u have uploaded all tb hence u r opening balance should be nil.

I can't download the System Voice(s) for my MacBook Pro Retina?

I try to download the additional Apple System Voice(s) but I always get this following message...

"The new java Version 7 Update 13 is not exactly helpful in macbook pro.
try the version 11 or 12 they should work perfectly."
The OP is running 10.6.8 so Java 6 is his option at this point.

System voice loading voices

I have this strange problem on system preferences > dictation and speech
The system voice fails to load up a voice (just hangs)
I have checked the location of voices in system>library>speech>voices . The voices folder exists and has all the voices inside it
If i restart the machine then it does resolve it but only temperamentally -- within an hour it will be broken again --
This has been going on months for me
The only thing i can think of is that i uninstalled the boom app with this script , do you think this caused something

Can system voice announce time in French if iMac set to English?

I'm wondering if anyone know how to have the system announce the time in another language, say French. if the Computer System is set to English. I can download a French computer voice in Customize of the voice panel of Date and Time but I don't hear it announce the time. When I change to another voice I hear the announcements.

I have Tom, the system voice is set to Sebastian and the time is set to announce on the quarter hour. The computer system is set to English. I find the time announcements in English intrusive but I absolutely need to know the time so I don't get so engrossed in computer work that I don't leave for work on time. As I speak French also and find the Sebastian voice quite soft and soothing I thought it would be a nice thing to have French time announced. I downloaded the voice and it shows up in my list of choices when I choose Customise in the date and time announcements panel. The time announcements work when I choose Alex but when I choose Sebastian no announcemts are forthcoming.

A great way to diagnose this issue without deleting voicemail boxes is to issue the following command.
show voicemail usage
If you get the following output you know you have exceeded the license. This way you don't have to delete vm boxes to figure out if you're hitting this issue.

Can not download any extra system voice.

I can not download any other system voice to my MacBook Pro.
The error message is "The voice "Jill" can’t be installed now because you are not connected to the Internet.". Anyway, the internet connection do really work correctly on my Mac.

In your example you aren't really doing anything. If you just put in something like 1 + 1, AppleScript will execute that (and you will get a result), but unless you actually do something with the information nothing is going to happen.
Computers aren't like they are in the movies and are basically really stupid by themselves (and sometimes with help). When programming, you have to specify exactly what you are doing, what you are doing it with, how you want to do it, and handle other things such as the phases of the moon and various road traffic. The AppleScript Language Guide assumes a little bit of programming understanding (and even then some luck helps) - some other resources that might help get you started are the tutorials at macscripter.net.
In the mean time, a System Profiler script that puts a basic profile into the specified file name/location would look something like:

Using System 9 and Tiger 10.4 on same system

I have an iMac CRT (slot loading) which was recently upgraded to Tiger 10.4. Why can I not easily move between my old system (to access files and software). Any time I have attempted to do so, the system freezes and has to be manually shut down.
My machine also upgraded in RAM and with a new DVD/CD read/write drive at the time.

I would suggest using Classic Support as opposed to OS9 as a seperate boot, because it is 'emulated' it won't crash your whole system.

Manually manage music and voice memo's

Good morning all, so I can't figure this out, If I have my iTunes set to manually manage music and videos how do I synch my voice memo's? Last night when I was doing that it seemed to me I had to change it to synch selected songs and once I checked Voice Memo's it emptied my iPhone of all the music. Is that right, or am I missing something? Thanks for your help!

thanks for the reply but I was hoping to find out where they go on the Mac, from the Finder point of view... where are the actual files after syncing any iPhone with voice memo recordings on it ?
The answer is, at least for me, they go to the root level of your iTunes Music folder. There they will be given a date such as:
20091012 185152.m4a
These recordings seem to play fine on my:
Quicktime Player 7
Quicktime Player Snow Leopard version

Manual Process VS System Process or Interaction

I'm a business consultant and I'm still on my first steps in Oracel BPA.
My question is about the representation of the activities in a Business Process...In Visio you can have different symbols to represent Manual Processes and Processes that use Systems.
In Oracle BPA you have Human Tasks and Automated Activity...so, if I want to represent a Manual Process, should I choose the Human Task symbol? Or only if there's a workflow pattern associated to that activity? Because you can be only Counting Cash in a Vault...would that be a Human Task in Oracle BPA?
