Manufacturing Integration
SAP xMII allows to synchronize and connect to shop floor systems with pre defined connectors.
Here my questions:
How does xMII is able to handle with Web-Services via SOAP?
Is PI (previous XI) the same like MII? If yes, In which way?
There is also the opportunity to use the Enterprise Service Bundle IMES.
Use Case 1: Production Planner / Supervisor
Step 1: A production planner/supervisor looks for new production orders by work center, material, date range, or any combination of these ES: Find Production Order by Elements
Step 2: A list of production orders matching the search criteria is propagated and the user selects one, which displays the relevant information ES: Read Production Order
Step 3: The contents of the production order are translated into an ISA-95 Production Schedule Message and sent to a shop floor system (No enterprise service is invoked during this step)
SAP say that there is the ability to synchronize between SAP ERP and shop floor system with the ES bundle IMES. But according to the described Business Case there ain`t a Enterprise Service so far (see Step 3 above). why?

Hi Christian
Yes, MII can handle webservices via SOAP.
Here is a thread with a brief explanation of the differences between PI (formerly XI) and MII (formerly xMII). [MII vs PI|SAP MII vs SAP PI;.
All of what you are trying to do is mostly already configured by some of the projects available as downloads from the [MII wiki|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=15601]. There is also a lot of other good information there for MII.
Using ES via MII is certainly an option. You also have the option of using RFC/BAPI through either JCo or JRA and you may see better performance going that route. Using LOIPRO, LOIBOM, LOIROU, etc. IDocs pushed down to MII by ECC is also easily implemented and can be configured to automatically deliver the IDocs to MII upon change/creation/deletion.
The configuration of the data from the production order into a standard S95 format is rather easily done within MII.

Mike

The Projects screen to import and export SAP xApp Manufacturing Integration
Hello:
On my SAP Discovery Server, On the Projects screen to import and export SAP xApp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP xMII) projects.
Under the projects listed I see one Default project, is listed as a System Project.
I did an import and used one of the sample application, along with the ExportManifest.xml file.
"You can create an external project structure, include it in a zip file, and import it as a new project. You do not need an ExportManifest.xml file to import a project."
Now I see two projects listed as System Projects, is that ok, would that cause any issues? Is there any way that I could correct this?
Note:
If you import a project that already exists, the system overwrites the current project structure and files.
You can import hidden projects that do not appear on the Projects screen or in the SAP xMII Workbench. System-defined projects may appear in the Projects screen and in the SAP xMII Workbench, but you cannot delete them. You can import a project with the same name as a hidden or system-defined project and overwrite its properties. If you do this, they are no longer considered to be hidden or system-defined projects.
Thank you,You could consider creating a project and exporting it to see the proper format of the zip file, including the ExportManifest. You should find attributes in the xml for setting the description, system type, etc.

Infor Visual Manufacturing integration
Does anyone know of an add-on or other work done to integrate SAP Business One with Infor's Visual Manufacturing system? Any information about resources for how to pass data from Visual Manufacturing to SAP is appreciated. I am planning to use DTW but would like any information from anyone who may have had to do this in the past. thanks
Hi Peter,
There is no ready add-on for this.
You can do through DTW but for this you need to make standard templates as given by SAp and as Gordon said this need a lot manual intervention.
You can try through B1iSN (SAP recommend it for SBO8.8 PL12) or IBOLT (Third party tool but you have to map each & every transaction) in both condition initial setup is not that easy though.
You can create your own add-on as per your requirement with the help of SDK developer.

You need to go through the SAP xApp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP xMII) technology, which offers a sophisticated yet easy-to-use application for aggregating, transforming, and distributing plant and production information.
Do go through some OPC (Object for Process Control) documents also. You can visit the link below to get a feel of it.

Q-DAS/ qs-STAT Integration with SAP ME
Hello everybody,
one of our clients has the requirement to integrate the Quality Software from Q-DAS with SAP ME. We are asked to design the architecture and interface for the integration.
Does anybody have experience with Q-DAS?
How would Q-DAS work with Data Collection in ME?
Would Q-DAS save statistics or quality results in ME? Where?
Lots of questions.
Any hint to approach this use case would be highly appreciated.
thanks,

These can be found under Download -> for Manufacturing -> SAP xApp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (xMII) Templates.
Please feel free to post comments, recommendations, etc.

I see that the last update is 07 Jul 2009. Just curious if this is the one with updated transactions and web pages.

Hi
I need to output information messages in the start routine and the update routines.
These messages are just for information and not necessary to stop any processing, eg:
MONITOR-msgid = 'ZEBS'.
MONITOR-msgty = 'I'.
MONITOR-msgno = '001'.
MONITOR-msgv1 = 'Finished update KF1'.
append MONITOR.
I have created message class 'ZEBS' with message 001 = &1.
However in the monitor screen ('Details' tab), I just see the little green bullets with EMPTY lines ie. I do not see the above message - what am I doing wrong ?
Thanks,

Message Monitor - Access rights
Hello,
we want to give some user access rights to look into Message Monitor to track the transfer of IDOCs.
Basically we have the role Role_SAPMEINT which lets us take look into the queue monitor but not the message monitor.
By which UME roles or UME actions is this part is accssible for the user.
I don't want to give the user SAP_XMII_Admin role.

V15 XML Loader Access To Path Not Allowed
We are just starting to test our V15 sandbox system that has just been upgraded. We have a transaction that works fine in our older environment (V12.2) but the same transaction fails in V15. The first sequence in the transaction is an XML Loader that tries to load and XML configuration file from the local MII server where the transaction is running. The action fails with a Access to path /directoryNameHere/fileNameHere.xml is not allowed error.
As far as we can tell, all of the filesystem/OS level permissions (Linux in our case) are the same as they are in our old environment.
Other than file/directory permissions, any ideas why this might fail? Has anything changed in V15 that would potentially impact this?
We are not specifying a Credential Store alias (listed as optional).
Thank you,
MikeAt some point a 'Default File Path' parameter was added as a system property and it's value may be causing your issue.

Access to the files under the previous path (and the subfolders) will be lost if the path is changed.
If the path is empty, you can access the file system, provided the file system provides read/write permissions. The same holds good for prior releases. -
I am looking for a list of new features that made it into 12.1 and, so far, can't find it. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
MikeMike,
There's a couple of different ways to go about it, the slowest but probably the most elaborate method is to pick through the v12.1 help documentation (http://help.sap.com -> (At the Top) SAP Business Suite -> (On the Left) SAP Manufacturing Integration & Intelligence or just click here:
[http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mii121/helpdata/en/43/e80b59ad40719ae10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mii121/helpdata/en/43/e80b59ad40719ae10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm]
There's also release notes available on the SAP Service Marketplace http://service.sap.com/ select SAP Support Portal -> Release & Upgrade Info -> Release Notes. Then on the left select SAP Solutions -> SAP Manufacturing -> SAP Manufacturing Integration & Intelligence or just click here:

MII GUI's on smartphone and Android devices
Hi,
I would like to make MII GUI's capabale to run on smartphones and Android devices. Could you please help on this?
I am using MII 14.0 version.
Any help on this very much appreciated
Thanks
Shaji ChandranHi Saji
Any HTML content will work on smartphones. If you mean Applets as MII GUI then you might have a tougher proposition. However as you are already on MII 14.0 why don't you try out the HTML5 based Grid and Charts. You would need SP04 for that. These charts and grids would work perfectly with smartphones.
