Many 8088 warnings in Application log

On a client's SharePoint 2013 server I see a lot of 8088 warnings that say "The Managed Metadata Service 'Managed Metadata Service' is inaccessible."
I looked it up and found only SP 2010 responses. But they all indicate a permissions problem. As far as I know, no permissions have been changed. I followed the TechNet article for SP 2010 and found the application pool and the account for it. I then
checked permissions but the account was not listed, only something called Local Farm. I don't know what that is even though it had all 3 permissions checked. So I added the domain account listed for the application pool and gave it all permissions shown. But
I'm still getting the warnings.
Any ideas on how to proceed from here?
Jonathan

Hi  Jonathan,
The  warning can occur if the server is offline or the managed metadata service is not started or has been disabled. The service might not start if the application pool account does not have sufficient
permissions to the term store.
Resolution:   Verify the application pool account permissions:
Verify that the user account that is performing this procedure is a member of the Farm Administrators group.
On the Central Administration Home page, click Application Management.
On the Application Management page, in the Service Applications section, click Manage service applications.
On the Service Applications page, in the Type column, click the managed metadata service application, and then click Properties.
In the Create New Managed Metadata Service dialog box, in the Application Pool section, record the name of the application pool and the application pool
account name.
Click Cancel.
Log on as a member of the local Administrators group.
In Central Administration, on the Service Applications page, in the Type column, click the managed metadata service application, and then click Permissions.
Confirm that the account that you recorded in step 5 has one of the following permissions:
Read Access to Term Store
Read and Restricted Write Access to Term Store
Full Access to Term Store

  • Long list of warnings in Application event log

I'm using windows XP SP2, Nokia PC-Suite 6.84.10.4 and a Nokia 6822 phone. I have full administration rights of the machine.
Every time I start my laptop up I get about 62 or 63 application log entries all saying the following. . .
Detection of product '{A982E6CC-9F0D-4948-9B18-BDFD55DE4A72}', feature 'PCSuite', component '{9B373FD2-8E0A-4A76-80C7-63B6521FD237}' failed. The resource 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nokia\' does not exist.
I have de and re-installed the software, mainly to try to overcome bluetooth connection issues but this doesn't make any difference.
    Any advice?

    It's a known problem with 6.84.
Your only option is to wait for a new version or, as I did, switch back to using 6.83 which is far more stable.

  • Odd alternative access mappings warning appearing Event Application Log

    Hello,
I see these odd alternative access mappings warnings in the application log.  These warning occur on a SharePoint 2013 site that is in internal. I don't want to add http://go.microsoft.com to the alternative access mappings.  How can I determine
where this warning is coming from?  What does it mean?  How can resolve this warning?  Could it be a problem with DNS?
There are other warnings from other external URLs showing up in events.  I am wondering if this may causing credential pop-ups which users seem to experience at random times.

this is really odd that you are getting the warning for the "http://go.microsoft.com". Typically this error is when you hitting the server with IP address or Server Name, or any other address which is not registered into the AAM. Usually its easy to
    ignore in many cases.
may be somebody put the host header entries on his machine to map this address to the site.

    Hi,
If agent is installed on the VMM server, it will collect the information and send it to SCOM server. The event indicates the SCOM agent tried to access the registry key that was included in the User Profile but failed.
Please specify a local account or domain account as the SCOM action account for a test.

    Hi Girimurugan,
I am currently working with SAP Gateway related stuffs and I need a clarification regarding the application log.
Hope you are very busy and please clarify the doubts if you can spare few minutes towards this query.
Appreciate your valuable advise towards this.
    Query:
Can we log any of the different types of logs (I Info / W Warning / A Abort or Cancel / E Error ) into Application Log(/IWFND/APPS_LOG) of the Gateway system in a Hub deployment model ?
How the logging can be achieved?
What are the scenarios, wherein the Application logs are preferred?
Also I have already raised a query in the SCN with this link: http://scn.sap.com/message/15477543. But could not get much details about it.
Can you please clarify the same?
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
You can use the Application Log to display error messages, warnings, and other information generated by KM applications and services.
Use FM Application 'BAL_LOG_CREATE'  for creating an handle and then call FM 'BAL_LOG_MSG_ADD' to add new messages under this handle. When you call the function module with the handle generated by you. The messages inside the fm will be logged with that handle which later on you can get using BAL_LOG_MSG_READ.
    Thanks and warm regards,

  • After installing a required update, many of my normal applications (Word, Chrome, Adobe Reader) will simply crash after opening. Why?

I recently installed a required printer (epson) update on my Macbook Pro (running Mt Lion).  After installing and going through the required restart, I discovered that many of my existing applications will not open; instead they simply crash moment after opening.  Prior to the update installation, everything worked fine.  I have gone through the disk utiities program and repaired the various disk permissions that needed changing and still nothing. My MacBook Pro is 4 years old, runs Mt Lion and has plenty of disc space available.  What do I need to do?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Messages from IDoc processing can be found in application log

We are using the IDOC_INPUT_INVOIC_MRM Function Module to post Inbound Vendor EDI Invoices. During testing, we sometimes see the error "Messages from IDoc processing can be found in application log". We then have to check transaction SLG1 to ascertain the 'real' issue, e.g. "No GR documents found". In a Production environment however, this will be very inconvenient. Our business users process their own iDoc errors according to the iDoc Status, so to have to call up another transaction, and select the correct Application Log to find the true error, is not a process I would feel comfortable with for our users.
My question is, can we configure/determine which messages are passed to the iDoc Status, or redirect Application Log messages ? Might a Z version of FM IDOC_INPUT_INVOIC_MRM be the way forward ?
    Many thanks,
    Paul.

    Hi,
Just monitor your error idocs in WE20 transaction. Give idoc number here then execute, you can see the all three records(control, data, status). Click on status record node then double click
on status number(e.g 51), it will take you to another screen there you click on "application log" button on application toolbar. This is the standard way finding the application log of an idoc, even i am finding the application log on production server like this.
    Thanks,
    Asit Purbey.

  • Control the size of Essbase.log and application log

Understand that there are many message were written to the Essbase.log and application log. Is there any method to control what kind of message to be written to the log file so as to reduce the IO frequency of the server disk folders?
    Thanks for your help!

You might want to think about forcing your BSO/ASO PAG & IND/DAT files to go onto a separate drive volume from your base Essbase binaries. This can be tough to do in a SAN environment as it is difficult to know what is truly where.
Another option would be to use CLEARLOGFILE to reset the logs (this will delete them every time you stop/restart Essbase, so make sure you archive them if you need log history).
    See: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_techref/config/clearlogfile.htm
Yet another would be to set SSLOGUNKNWON to false to cut down on the log.

Essbase do not have log rotate option like Apache and maybe we should archive the essbase log regularly and clear it up.
We don't have much unknown member case in our log. Anyway we will investigate the option SSLOGUNKNOWN

  • How to create performance counter based on no. of errors generated in application log

i have written custom events into application log and am able to see those events as alerts in the scom console and now i want to see how many event errors are generated for every 15mins.(interval)performance counter with same event source or id. how can
    i get started with this

    Hi,
Please try to create event monitor Triggered on Count:
Trigger on count consolidation of events lets a monitor require multiple occurrences of the same event in a specified time window before it changes the health state to an error. The time window can be rotating time duration of specified length or
a specific window based on day of the week.
Trigger on count consolidation resembles trigger on timer consolidation except that multiple occurrences of the event are required instead of just one. When the time window is reached, the event count is returned to zero, and the specific number of events
must detected before the time window expires again for the health state to be changed.

  • Custom error message in SAP application log

Is there a way to add a custom error message to the SAP application log without passing the message variables MSGV1, MSGV2, MSGV3, MSGV4 and the Message class and number.
We want to pass a custom message from the BAPIRET2-MESSAGE without giving it a Message class and number.  The reason for this is that  we are using class based exceptions instead of the traditional message class with errors.  When we catch the class based exception, we take the error text of the exception and put in in the BAPIRET2-message and set the BAPIRET2-TYPE as 'E'.  Now we want to add this to the SAP application log.
The call to 'BAL_LOG_MSG_ADD' takes a structure BAL_S_MSG which is just like BAPIRET2.  However this function builds the entry to the application log use the message variables MSGV1, MSGV2, MSGV3, MSGV4.  There is no provision to pass in the BAPIRET2 message.
    Add message to application log
      CALL FUNCTION 'BAL_LOG_MSG_ADD'
        EXPORTING
         i_log_handle              = app_log_handle
         i_s_msg                   = log_message
    Thanks,

    Hi Jay,
    Did you see <b>BAL_LOG_EXCEPTION_ADD</b>?
This FM is represented by the structure <b>BAL_S_EXC</b>. This can have various versions as described below:
    <b>Data of BAL_S_EXC Structure  /     Use</b>
<b>EXCEPTION</b>  /                              Exception class from which an exception text
is added to the log. This field must be filled.
    <b>MSGTY</b>  /                                     Message type (MSGTY) of a T100 message.
This field must also be filled for exceptions.
    <b>PROBCLASS,
    DETLEVEL,
ALSORT, TIME_STMP</b>  /                Message or exception attributes, such as
                                                        problem class (PROBCLASS, for
example, "very important"), level of detail
(DETLEVEL, from 1 to 9), sort criterion
                                                        (ALSORT, unrestricted) and timestamp
(TIME_STMP). These fields can be displayed
                                                        in the log (except TIME_STMP).
<b>MSG_COUNT</b>   /                            This attribute is not used for exceptions.
