Many emails I receive have characters like A with an accent instead of £. Is there any way to fix this?
I am using Thunderbird 31.3.0.
Sounds like the email has not used the correct character encoding.
Character encoding (temporary):
* 'View' -> Character encoding'
then select the desired character encoding.
* Tools > Options > Display > Formatting tab
* click on 'Advanced' button
"Incoming Mail" pulldown menu:
Thunderbird will normally use each message's stored character encoding, or auto-detect it, but you can set a default character encoding for message display by using this pulldown.
Post image of what you have in the fonts and Encoding window.

To see what charset is used in email.
Select email in list which has wrong characters, to view in Message Pane.
Click on 'Other Actions' and select 'View source'
Look for :
'''charset''' ="utf-8"
'''Content-Transfer-Encoding''': 7bit

To whom does the email address belong to? Are you sure it wasn't an email address used in the past or perhaps one that had belonged to a friend of hers?
Either way, if the music on her iPod was purchased under an account not belonging to her or you, there is much you can do. Sorry.

Select the Inbox folder to see emails.
click on first email to get focus.
Hold down 'Ctrl' key and press 'A' key
This will highlight /select all emails.
they will appear as conversations in the Message Pane
Clickon Delete.
when it has finished - you do have a lot of emails :)
Right click on Inbox and select 'compact' - this removes all marked as deleted emails. -

Hi, I'm new at this but I am hoping someone can help me.I have recently been away for 5 weeks and my Tom Tom required updating.When I clicked to update it, it required a pc. As I didn't have access to a pc it wouldn't work is there any way to do this without a pc? I was without this app for 3 weeks! Thanks, Lea
The process to update your Tom Tom is a big data file, you will need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network for it to download. If will take about an hour.

I've been having an issue with assistive touch, every time I open an app. the AT disappears the from the screen and I have to turn it off and ON again. Is there a way to fix this?

I have cs4 installed on my old computer, i have since lost the disk and serial #s. Is there any way to recover this information and install the programs on my new computer? I used my old computer for college and haven't used it in awhile, now I have a job that can benefit from having those programs. I have the kin 2 and whenever I turn it on, it does the introduction (pictures, ect.) and the pictures go on for about 3 minuets. but then when it is done, the screan turns blank. is there any way to fix this problem?

I recently updated to OS X mountain Lion and activated ICloud, my bookmarks have automatically been changed to those of my iPad, is there any way to reverse this?
First, you need to go to System Preferences -> iCloud and uncheck the Safari item to prevent syncing bookmarks (among other things) between Safari on your Mac and Safari on your iPad.
Then you need to restore your bookmarks file from a backup. To find the bookmarks file, go to your user Library folder (which is now invisible, so hold down the option key and choose Library from the Finder's Go menu), then look in the Safari folder that's in there. There should be a file called Bookmarks.plist. Replace it with an older version from a backup. -
So basically I need to confirm my identity but I can't because I can't remember the answers to my security questions. I scheduled a meeting with Apple, to see if they can fix it. Nod I would just reset them from my rescue email, but I don't know what that email is and it's also no longer in use.
Do you know of any way to fix this?You won't be able to change your rescue email address until you can answer your questions, you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple in your country to get the questions reset.

My osX Lion loaded iMac always prints with a default "scale" of "150%" and consequently won't print anything on a single page. I always have to go into "Printer Settings" and change it to "100%" to print properly. Is there any way to set this up to default at "100%"?

anderdan33316, if you have selected a preset, and that preset was created with the "Scale" set to "150%". I suspect your issue is related to this.
for a possible solution,
1. in Safari, open the Print dialog (by cmd-p, or choosing "Print..." from the File menu, either way works).
2. in the dialog, manually set the Scale to 100%
3. in the "Presets:" pull-down menu, select "Save Current Settings as Preset..."
4. enter a label that is meaningful to you, such as "Standard", "Basic", "Default" - it can be modified later
5. print that page from that dialog, and the customized Preset will be one of your choices until you decide to delete it.

If I have two appointments at the same time, they overlap in the iOS 7 calendar rather than appearing side-by-side in the daily view, so that I can' read both of them due to the same background color. Is there a way to change this via a settings change?
I fyou have "all day" event that are taking up the entire day, check the event. All day event only appear at the top of the time line (and just below the week view). I suspect they are not actually set up as all day, but have specific time frames assigned.
In teh screen shot below, "Sample" is an all day event; NFL: CAR@SF is not. -
It was around like 16ish 3-4 minute long songs that only played up to 1 minute 30 seconds. If this can't be fixed, is there a way i could at least get a refund?
Amazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.
