Mapping error: VLD-1111

New user. I am trying to create mapping with a simple transformation.
The mapping goes from
1) flat file --> 2) staging table --> 3) final table
- The transformation expression is between #2 & #3 and is only for one field added to '100'...
- Error rec'd when I try to validate the mapping.
- I noticed that the table that is created by the mapping (step #3) doesn't/will not match the name I have given the table in the mapping. It refuses to keep the name. Maybe this has something to do with the problem.
Anyone else encounter similar issues?
Thanks.

It appears I was able to solve this one myself. OWB does not like the way I connected/passed data thru 2 tables to a 3rd table. It apparently wants a 1-1 situation for mapping.

  • Validation Error: VLD-1111

I'm trying to Validate a mapping between a source and staging table and recieve the following error message: "VLD-1111: The mapping cannot be generate due to operators requiring different code languages."
My source table is in an Oracle 9i DB and so is the target staging table, which is in the OWB repository. What does this error mean?

    David,
This validation error typically is given when you mix for example SQL*Loader operators with SQL operators. For example you place an aggregator within a mapping that contains a flatfile as a source. SQL*Loader cannot determine what to do with the aggregator and PL/SQL does not know how to handle the file.
As you seem to have a table as source and as target, I'm wondering if there are any other operators on the canvas that are intended for SQL*Loader like the data generator? If that is the case replace the data generator by either a constant or a sequence, that should take care of the validation message.

  • Map Error - VLD-1108: Operator NVL is not properly connected

Current, I am using NVL for 2 reasons:
    1) return 0 if the attribute is 0 -- NVL(id, 0)
    a) A constant is creted (outgrp1.const1 expression = 0)
    b) A NVL (INPUTS.expr1 (id) & INPTS.expr2 (0)) is created
    2) return 0 if the attributes (date - date) is 0 -- NVL ((date-date),0)
    a) Created Expr to hold the result of (date - date)
    b) Created another NVL (INPUTS.expr1 (result of date-date) & INPUTS.expr2 (the constant 0))
    What I did wrong?
    Thanks,
    Syvia

You can use the constant by dragging and droping the 'C' icon from the mapping toolbox. After you did the drag and drop, add an attribute (let's call it CONST1) to the constant object. After that, update the properties of CONST1 and set it to your desired value by changing the value in the 'expression' field. See the online documentation for further details.
To return 0, map a constant with the value of 0 to the expr2 attribute of the NVL function, while mapping the input field value to expr1 (this refers to the NVL(number, number) function. This shold result in NVL(value,0).

  • Error VLD-1108 while validating the mapping in owb 11g

    Hi All,
I am using owb 11.1.0.7.0. I am new to owb 11g. I am getting the following error while validating the mapping
error: VLD-1108 . Operator requires more input or output connections in order to generate mapping code.
I am using a function as operator and mapping it with the table.
Please tell me the solution for this. Its urgent
    Thanks in advance,
    Siva

    Hi,
u must be using a procedure or table function that is called in the mapping for execution. When writing the function u would have specified 3 inputs but in the mapping u would have given only 2. check the number of inputs and make sure they match.

  • VLD-1111 Unknown step type

    Hi,
    I'm getting the following error:
VLD-1111: Mapping cannot be generated due to unknown step type.","This mapping contains conflicting components and there is no compatible step type to generate the mapping. Please modify the mapping and remove conflicting components.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I have to join two sets of records from different sources. So I've create a SET object and a function to generate null values, in order to expresion for calcs like '(value1 * value2 ) + value3', joins objects to merge attributes, etc. My sources are tables from database.
    TIA

    Javier,
Could it be that you first use the match-merge operator and then try to use the set operator?
If that is the case... then use a table in between to stage the result.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

  • VLD-1111 Error

I have a mapping that generates PL/SQL. I was using a Constant Operator to populate a date column with sysdate. I decided to change this toi a Data Generator Operator and got the following error message.
VLD-1111: This mapping cannot be generated because it contains a combination or sequence of operators that are invalid.
It seems that the Data Generator Operator is incompatible with PL/SQL mappingswhich seems rather strange to me. Does anyone know what's going on here?

My only problem with using a constant is that you get exactly the same date/time for each row rather than the actual date/time the row was inserted. This is because Oracle sets up a constant with the value of sysdate in the PL/SQL code it generates. This as you would expect.
I've actually now decided to use the Mapping Transformation operator bound to the sysdate function. This seems to work just fine.

  • Error VLD - 5005 when validating the map

Using Datawarehouse builder 10.2 i have the following problem.
    This is the scenario:
I have a dimension with one level and no hierachy and i want to do a mapping between a table and that dimension.
    Table has three atributes:supplier_id;name_sup;adress_sup.
The dimension(which passes the validation) as four, three of type business to store information from the table atributes and one of the type surrogate(all these atributes belong to the same level).
When validating the mapping I have this error:
VLD-5005: no updatable inputs connected for dimension level "DIM_CUSTOMERS.LEVEL1"
Details: At least one updatable input must be connected for level DIM_CUSTOMERS.LEVEL1, or the generated code will fail. paraent reference key and level natural key inputs are not updatable attributes in the target
If I change dimension loading type to remove(instead of load) the validation is sucessful but the map doesn't work.
Could anyone please give me a sugestion.

    Hi!
could you explain that a little more please? (I.e. "make one of your source table attributes non-business"). I thought you could add the 'business' tag to attributes in the dimension, but I cannot see how to do that to the source table that is loading the dimension.
FYI, I am trying to add an 'all-levels' category-type top level to a dimension hierarchy where the true source data goes
    L1>L3
    L2>L3
    L3to make the result
    L-CATEGORY>L1>L3
    L-CATEGORY>L2>L3
    L-CATEGORY>L3
This is intended to combine source data from two sources, Products and Services. Products have two unrelated Type levels above them. Services have no Types. I thought I might be abow to create a mapping per source, and use a Constant to insert a Category attribute (business key) of either 'PRODUCT' or 'SERVICE' per mapping. My thinking was to use two seperate loads to the dimension. However, the first one generates the VLD-5005 error. I'd sure appreciate some help with theis fix.
Do you know a better way of doing this?
Also, is there a list/manual anywhere of all error messages for Paris?
    Cheers,
    Donna

  • VLD-1111

Has anyone else received this message?
VLD-1111 The mapping cannot be generated due to operators requiring different code languages.
For mapping code generation, the generated language needs to be the same for every operator in the mapping. Check the mapping and remove conflicting components.

    Hi,
This message is produced when you have a "context switch" in the mapping. Let's take the following example, joining a flat file with a table would mix SQL*Loader language with SQL/PLSQL, and this can't be generate by Warehouse Builder.
To make this work, you would use one of these 2 methods:
    1) use an external table (for more information check out the database manual for Oracle 9i)
    2) Stage the data with one map and then transform the data in another mapping.
    Hope this helps,

Hi All, I encountered these sudden Mapping errors after I tried to do Testing in Post Upgrade Sand Box. Here I am trying to to perform Collected Reported Financial Data under Data Collection Method for a particular Company Code 3040. Kindly help me with some quick responses as this is kind of high priority. The errors and the Diagnosis Notes I am unable to follow as I do not where I shall write those Mapping Rules they are referring to. I do not even know if that need to apply any SAP Notes as such. Once again Highly appreciate your quick response and Many Thanks in Advance.

Input conversion for field Period Value LC has invalid format Message no. UCT8210 Diagnosis The mapping rule for target field Period Value LC contains a move with a selected Input Conversion indicator. Therefore, the system performs an input conversion prior to creating the target data. However, an error in the input conversion occurred while moving the source key figure to the target key figure Period Value LC. This means that the format used for the input conversion is incompatible with the target data. System Response The system will not perform the move. Procedure Examine the mapping rule for field Period Value LC. Either select the Conversion Exit indicator or deselect the Input Conversion indicator. Execute the method again. -
3040 is incompatible with input format for field /1FB/COMPANY Message no. UCT8258 Diagnosis During execution, the method derives the source selection for source field /1FB/COMPANY from the mapping rule for the target field. 3040 is one of the values that were derived for the source selection. The system requires that this value is in the correct SAP-internal format because the Conversion Exit indicator has been selected in the move operator for field /1FB/COMPANY. However, the value 3040 is incompatible with the SAP-internal format. System Response The system attempts to interpret value 3040 as an external format and convert it to the internal format. If this fails, the system is unable to restrict the source selection using source field /1FB/COMPANY. In this case, the system may read more source data than was originally intended, which can affect performance. Procedure In the log, choose the Source button to display the source selections that are used to read the source data. When this appears, examine values selected for field /1FB/COMPANY. If the correct values were selected, you can ignore this message. To prevent this message from being issued, you can select the indicator in the mapping rule used by source field /1FB/COMPANY. If incorrect values were selected, make sure that the mapping rule used by source field /1FB/COMPANY has been defined correctly. If the mapping rule is correct and value (3040) derived for the source selection does not affect the overall result, you can ignore this message. If the source selection does not contain the value 3040 for field /1FB/COMPANY and, because of this, source data that is supposed to be read is not being read, make sure that the mapping rule has been defined correctly. If the source selection does not contain any value for field /1FB/COMPANY, make an estimation as to how much excess source data is being read and whether this might affect system performance. If you do not expect any performance problems, you can ignore this message. In any event, you have the following alternatives if the mapping rule is defined correctly, but the source selection on field /1FB/COMPANY is unsatisfactory: You can define a source selection for field /1FB/COMPANY in the Customizing settings for the method on the Selection tab page. Then the method uses this source selection instead of the source selection derived from inverse interpretation of the mapping rule. You can implement the Business Add-In (BAdI) UC_DATATRANSFER and use the method INVERT to determine the source selection on field /1FB/COMPANY. Then the method uses the result of the INVERT method for the source selection instead of the source selection derived from inverse interpretation of the mapping rule. -

However, if you discover after method execution that the system did not process a large amount of data, and that system performance was not satisfactory, you may want to examine the source selection by choosing the Source button in the log. If the reason for the disregarded data is that too much source data was read because of the unrestricted selection on the source field (which is linked with target field Versionthrough mapping), choose one of the alternatives below: Change the mapping rule for field Version so that the system can derive a delimiting source selection. Could you Kiindly advise me where we need to write the Mapping Rules in Consolidation Monitor? All he time the errors refering to Mapping Rules. The only Tab I seen "Mapping" is in Data Basis But as per my Understanding Iwe do not have much to do there as it is system generated Mapping Tab.
Where we actually go and select/deselct those Input Conversion Indicator/ Conversion exit Indicator.

  • Catch Mapping Error in File to IDoc scenario

Configured BPM and now learning Error Handling. I know that through BPM we can handle system Errors, but I doubt whether Mapping error is a system error.
I am interested to know the classification of errors with examples, preferably listing out all types of errors.
Please provide some weblogs or explain briefly how to handle system and application errors through BPM.
    Thanks,
    Raja

    Hi Raja,
You will need CCMS if you want to send the Alerts to external system or you want to access the ALerts from the transaction. You can capture your alerts without this also.
When you go to Alert Configuration in the Runtime Workbench you can see Create Alert Rules. These rules are pertaining to the error generated in your AF,AE or IE.
Once you have completed the whole config. The error happening in the AE, IE or AF would trigger the alert. you can see this in your Alert Inbox.
The best would be if you go through the URL I have mentioned below.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/80/942f3ffed33d67e10000000a114084/content.htm
You have to use BPM only if you want to do an activity after the alerts are raised.
