Mapplets in IDQ 9.1 and 9.6

Hi All, I imported mapplets from IDQ 9.1 to 9.6 and I am trying to add those mapplets within a mapping but encountering an error that "cannot connect to active transformations".All these mapplets are part of a mapping in 9.1 and the mapping is working file as well.Does someone has a solution for this?

  • Need a sample file for IDQ parameter file and a Shell script to execute it from command line

    Hello,The parameter file itself is generated from cmd line using infacmd command and it automatically creates the parameters inside it based on the parameters created inside the mapping and the workflow. So, even if one provides you a paramtere file for IDQ, it might fail as your workflow definition and its paramters would be different. Thanks,K

    Hi all   My project migrated from Power Center to IDQ developer and I had to move all my mappings to IDQ developer. I was able to migrate everything except for the parameter files. It seems that the layout and syntax for parameter file is different from Power Center. Is there anyone who can help me out or send me a sample of a parameter file for IDQ? As well as a sample shell script to run the mapping or application from the Command line.This is an urgent need and It will be greatly appreciated.   ThanksNaveen Medisetti

  • Informatica Developer License

    Hi,
    I am trying to learn informatica by installing the server and client in my laptop. I am trying to do IDQ related tutorials and i am using the "Oracle_All_OS_Prod.key" file loaded in the server.
    but when i try to run a profile or run a mapping through developer client, its giving me license error. Do i need to purchase the licenses seperately for those ? or is there any evaluation license i can use to complete the tutorials.
    Appreciate your help !!!

    I dont think IDQ is part of that License.

  • Mapplet and pasive transformation realtime sales scenarios

    Help me

    Hi, I'm using the following command to get the error from the session log, as shown at another thread  pmcmd getsessionstatistics \-sv int_service \-d domain \-u userid \-p pwd \-f foldername \-w wkfname `pmcmd getworkflowdetails \                    -sv int_service \                    -d domain \                    -u userid \                    -p pwd \                    -f foldername wf_name | grep "Workflow run error message" |cut -f3 -d "[" | cut -f1 -d "]"` | grep -A 1 "First error message"  The problem is the error message is truncated after 555 characters and therefore I can't see the actual error. (I'm using pushdown, so the error message includes the  INSERT SELECT statement and the error message is afterwards) Is there a way to display the whole error message in this case? My intention is to use this command so I can display the session error in the log file from the shell script that executes the workflows. Regards,Fabiano

  • OWB bugs, missing functionality and the future of OWB

    I'm working with OWB for some time now and there are a lot of rough edges to discover. Functionality and stability leave a lot to be desired. Here's a small and incomplete list of things that annoy me:
    Some annoying OWB bugs (OWB 10g 10.1.0.2.0):
    - The debugger doesn't display the output parameters of procedures called in pre-mapping processes (displays nothing, treats values as NULL). The mapping itself works fine though.
    - When calling selfmade functions within an expression OWB precedes the function call with a constant "Functions." which prevents the function from being executed and results in an error message
    - Occasionally OWB cannot open mappings and displays an error message (null pointer exception). In this case the mapping cannot be opened anymore.
    - Occasionally when executing mappings OWB doesn't remember changes in mappings even when the changes were committed and deployed
    - When using aggregators in mappings OWB scrambles the order of the output attributes
    - The deployment of mappings sometimes doesn't work. After n retries it works without having changed anything in the mapping
    - When recreating an external table directly after dropping the table OWB recreates the external table but always displays both an error message and a success message.
    - In Key Lookups the screen always gets garbled when selecting an attribute as a join condition
    - Usage of constants results in aborts in the debugger
    - When you reconcile a table used in a key lookup the lookup condition sometimes changes. OWB seems to remember only the position of the lookup condition attribute but not the name.
    - In the process of validating a mapping often changes in the mapping get lost and errors occur like 'Internal Errors' or 'Null Pointer Exceptions'.
    - When you save the definition of external tables OWB always adds 2 whitespace columns to the beginning of all the lines following 'ORGANISATION EXTERNAL'. If you save a lot of external table definitions you get files with hundreds of leading whitespaces.
    Poor or missing functionality:
    - No logging on the level of single records possible. I'd like the possibility to see the status of each single record in each operator like using 'verbose data' in PowerCenter
    - The order of the attributes cannot be changed. This really pisses me off expecially if operators like the aggregator scramble the order of attributes.
    - No variables in expressions possible
    - Almost unusable lookup functionality (no cascading lookups, no lookup overrides, no unconnected lookups, only equal condition in key lookups)
    - No SQL overrides in soruces possible
    - No mapplets, shared containers or any kind a reusable transformations
    - No overview functionality for mappings. Often it's very hard to find a leftover operator in a big mapping.
    - No copy function for attributes
    - Printing functionality is completely useless
    - No documentation functionality for mappings (reports)
    - Debugger itself needs debugging
    - It's very difficult to mark connections between attributes of different operations. It's almost impossible to mark a group of connections without marking connections you don't want to mark.
    I really wonder which of the above bugs and mssing functionality 'Paris' will address. From what I read about 'Paris' not many if at all. If Oracle really wants to be a competitor (with regard to functionality) to Informatica, IBM/Ascential etc. they have a whole lot of work to do or purchase Informatica or another of the leading etl tool
    vendors.
    What do you think about OWB? Will it be a competitor for the leading etl tools or just a cheap database add on and become widely used like SAB BW not for reasons of technology or functionality but because it's cheap?
    Looking forward to your opinions.
    Jörg Menker

    Thanks to you two for entertaining my thoughts so far. Let me respond to you latest comments.
    Okay, lets not argue which one is better.. when a tool is there .. then there are some reasons to be there...But the points raised by Jorg and me are really very annoying. Overall I agree with both yours and Jorg's points (and I did not think it was an argument...merely sharing our observations with each other (;^)
    The OWB tool is not as mature as Informatica. However, Informatica has no foothold in the database engine itself and as I mentioned earlier, is still "on the outside looking in..." The efficiency and power of set-based activity versus row-based activity is substantial.
    Looking at it from another way lets take a look at Microstrategy as a way of observing a technical strategy for product development. Microstrategy focused on the internals (the engine) and developed it into the "heavy-lifting" tool in the industry. It did this primarily by leveraging the power of the backend...the database and the hosting server. For sheer brute force, it was champion of the day. It was less concerned with the pretty presentation and more concerned with getting the data out of the back-end so the user didn't have to sit there for a day and wait. Now they have begun to focus on the presentation part.
    Likewise this seems to be the strategy that Oracle has used for OWB. It is designed around the database engine and leverages the power of the database to do its work. Informatica (probably because it needs to be all things to all people) has tended to view the technical offerings of the database engine as a secondary consideration in its architectural approach and has probably been forced to do so more now that Oracle has put themselves in direct competition with Informatica. To do otherwise would make their product too complex to maintain and more vendor-specific.
    I am into the third data warehousing/data migration project and my previous two have been on Informatica (3 years on it).I respect your experience and your opinions...you are not a first timer. The tasks we have both had to solve and how we solved them with these tools are not necessarily the same. Could be similar in instances; could be quite different.
    So the general tendency is to evaluate the tool and try to see how things that were needed to be done in my previous projects can be done with this tool. I am afraid to say .. I am still not sure how these can be implemented in OWB. The points raised by us are probably the fall out of this deficiency.One observation that I would make is that in my experience, calls to the procedural language in the database engine have tended to perform very poorly with Informatica. Informatica's scripting language is week. Therefore, if you do not have direct usability of a good, strong procedural language to tackle some complicated tasks, then you will be in a pickle when the solution is not well suited to a relational-based approach. Informatica wants you to do most things outside of the database (in the map primarily). It is how you implement the transformation logic. OWB is built entirely around the relational, procedural, and ETL components in the Oracle database engine. That is what the tool is all about.
    If cost is the major factor for deciding a tool then OWB stands far ahead...Depends entirely on the client and the situation. I have implemented solutions for large companies and small companies. I don't use a table saw to cut cake and I don't use a pin knife to fall trees. Right tool for the right job.
    ...thats what most managers do .. without even looking how in turn by selecting such a tool they make the life tough for the developers.Been there many times. Few non-technical managers understand the process of tool evaluation and selection and the value a good process adds to the project. Nor do they understand the implications of making a bad choice (cost, productivity, maintainability).
    The functionality of OWB stands way below Informatica.If you are primarily a GUI-based implementer that is true. However, I have often found that when I have been brought in to fix performance problems with Informatica implementations that the primary problem is usually with the way that the developer implemented it. Too often I have found that the developer understands how to implement logic in the GUI component (the Designer/Maps and Sessions) with a complete lack of understanding of how all this activity will impact load performance (they don't understand how the database engine works.) For example, a strong feature in Informatica is the ability to override the default SQL statement generated by Informatica. This was a smart design decision on Informatica's part. I have frequently had to go into the "code" and fix bad joins, split up complex operations, and rip out convoluted logic to get the maps to perform within a reasonable load window. Too often these developers are only viewing the problem through the "window" of the tool. They are not stepping back and look at the problem in the context of the overall architecture. In part Informatica forces them to do this. Another possible factor is they probably don't know better.
    "One tool...one solution"
    Microstrategy until recently had been suffering from that same condition of not allowing the developer to create the actual query). OWB engineers need to rethink their strategy on overriding the SQL.
    The functionality of OWB stands way below Informatica.In some ways yes. If you do a head-to-head comparison of the GUI then yes. In other ways OWB is better (Informatica does not measure up when you compare it with all of the architectural features that the Oracle database engine offers). They need to fix the bugs and annoyances though.
    .. but even the GUI of Informatica is better than OWB and gives the developer some satisfaction of working in it.Believe me I feel your pain. On the other hand, I have suffered from Informatica bugs. Ever do a port from one database eingine to another just to have it convert everything into multi-byte? Ever have it re-define your maps to parallel processing threads when you didn't ask it to?
    Looking at the technical side of things I can give you one fine example ... there is no function in Oracle doing to_integer (to_number is there) but Informatica does that ... Hmm-m-m...sorry, I don't get the point.
    The style of ETL approach of Informatica is far more appealing.I find it unnecessarily over-engineered.
    OWB has two advantages : It is basically free of cost and it has a big brother in Oracle.
    It is basically free of cost...When you are another "Microsoft", you can throw your weight around. The message for Informatica is "don't bite the hand that feeds you." Bad decisions at the top.

    Dan Phillips

  • Changing a mapplet select seems not to be working

    I am trying to change the mapplet select for the BOM Header extraction task. I've copied the mapping from the ORA R12 Adaptor to my custom folder and I've altered the mapplet in my custom folder. I've also copied the informtica task and workflow.
    In DAC I've pointed the task BOM Header to pick the task from my custom folder.
    Session Log says custom folder... but it seems that the mapplet is still running the original select. (I've changed the mapplet to limit the number of rows ROWNUM < 10 but I can see in DS table more than 400K records...
    Anything I am forgotting ?
    Txs. a lot.
    Antonio

    Sometimes the SQL in a mapping is ignored because there is a session SQL override in the workflow? In workflow manager, select workflow, select task, select tab mapping, select source qualifier, look at property "SQL Query".

  • How to use functions in OWB (mapping/mapplet/pluggable)

    Hi all,
    we haev developed some sql code for populate data into respective tables. currently we are building mappings to populate data with help of sql code which we created earlier.
    1> in sql code we have called some functions to populate some columns. in owb how do we call functions and which is the best way to do eigther mapping or mapplet/pluggable level.

    You have to create first your function in OWB :
    Database / Oracle / Your module / Transformation / Functions
    Then in a mapping, use an expression operator :
    * drag and drop the column that you want for our function in the ingroup
    * double click on the expression operator : add an output variable, closed the operator windows
    * click on your outpuy variable and then click in the expression field of the attributes properties (on the left)
    * enter your expresson :
    OTHER_SEC_PREM_FOR(to_char(MONTH),to_char(FINANCIAL_YEAR),DEPARTMENT_CODE,OFFICE)* connect your output attributes to your target table

  • Can I install IDQ 9.6.1 with Power center 9.5.1 HF4

    Nope. The binaries are tightly bundled, you cannot install one without the other. The only alternative you may have is to install 9.6.1 in parallel to 9.5.1; under Unix/Linux that's easier to do than under Windows, but even under Windows this should be possible (because the Windows services installed by both versions have differing names). Regards,Nico

    Hello, Currently I have installed informatica power center 9.5.1 HF4. I need to install IDQ 9.6.1. I did get the install for the IDQ9.6.1 but it came with the complete install with the power center 9.6.1 HF1.  Is there a way to just install IDQ 9.6.1 and not the complete power center using the install file given.  Thank you for your help in advance.

  • I Can't Modify a informatica mapplet

    Hi Experts,
    I'm trying to implement Financial Analytics, I'm following the manual Oracle® Business Intelligence Applications Configuration Guide for Informatica PowerCenter Users
    Version 7.9.6 but in this part
    5.2.2.2 How to Configure Transaction Types for Oracle General Ledger and Profitability Analytics (for Oracle EBS R12)
    I can't modify mplt_BC_ORA_GLCOGSFact mapplet, what can i do?
    regards

    Hi
    I think its not about setting it at the time of install..........rather as shyam said you need to checkout the mapplet/mapping before you try to change it....hope this helps....If you are not able to copy a mapping/mapplet I think you need to open the source folder (from which u want to copy) and then open the target folder and then copy it..........let me know if you have any questions.........
    With Regards

  • Using OBA for 2 sources (Siebel and EBS)

    Hi,
    We have OBIA for EBS - Supply chain implemented (with some custom) and it's already on Production. Now we are implementing OBIA for Siebel.
    So, for the first time, we are planning run a FULL extract from Siebel. Then we noticed that both system uses some commom table (like W_PRODUCT_D). Unfortunally, we have on EBS all price list and products. On Siebel we have same information, replicated.
    If we run a FULL extract, we'll lose the data from EBS products, I guess. But if we run a Incremental extract, I think we will have duplicate products on W_PRODUCT_D. Is it correct?
    How is the best way to work it?
    Any help will be great!
    Regards,

    Hi Ohara,
    Regarding the RPD:
    I am not completely sure if you need to change the RPD..
    If you can guarantee that users will always report on a combination of dimensions with facts, there is no need to filter on datasource_num. This is because all facts loaded from Siebel will be related to dimension values loaded from Siebel and all facts loaded from eBS will be related to dimension values loaded from eBS. At least, this is how it is supposed to work, please allocate enough time to test this really good.
    However, 'just to be sure' you can create business model filters in the security groups in such a way that all 'Siebel-users' will only see the Siebel data and vice versa.
    Regarding the DAC:
    I think the most ideal way would be to combine all the to-be-loaded Subject Areas in one Execution Plan. This can be done if extraction from both eBS and Siebel can be performed in the same timeslot. This way, the staging tables will be populated from 1 or 2 sources, but the SILOS mappings will only have to be run once.
    Regarding the most interesting stuff (scenario 1 ;) ):
    You will require an unique identifier of a Product/other that is present in both source systems to be able to match them in the BAW. Please do not resort to literal comparissons on names etc. Once you have this identifier, you can modify the LKP operators in the fact mapplets and/or reusable LKP operators to use this identifier to retrieve the wid from the dimension, instead of the integration_id and datasource_num.
    Good luck!

    Marco

  • Gl_je_lines and mtl_transaction_accounts

    Hi,
    Can somebody help me out making joins between the following 3 tables:
    gl_je_lines
    , mtl_transaction_accounts
    , mtl_material_transactions
    Basically, I want to track back from gl_je_lines to mtl_material_transactions
    How does gl_je_lines.code_combination_id join with mtl_material_transactions ?
    is the following join proper?
    gjl.code_combination_id = mta.reference_account
    Thanks.
    P.S. do I need to used gl_import_references table for joining them?
    Message was edited by:

    First, you need to look at the mapplets/mappings (or DAC) to see source tables (usually a mapplet with a "mplt_BC" prefix). In this case, it extracts for several tables. In R1212 Adaptor it includes the following: RA_SALESREPS_ALL, OE_ORDER_LINES_ALL, OE_ORDER_HEADERS_ALL, MTL_TRANSACTION_ACCOUNTS, MTL_MATERIAL_TRANSACTIONS, HZ_CUST_SITE_USES_ALL, and GL_LEDGERS.
    With regard to why it uses both MTL_MATERIAL_TRANSACTIONS and MTL_TRANSACTION_ACCOUNTS tables...the TRANSACTION table holds the accounting details for each transaction in MATERIAL. This accounting detail is used to form the joins to the associated accounting dimensions such as W_GL_ACCOUNT_D etc.
    if this helps, please mark as correct or helpful.

  • Migrating Informatica Repository and Rolling back the changes.

    Hi all,
    I am new to Informatica. We are working on Migrating the Informatica repository from DEV to PROD using Repository manager's Copy & Paste method.
    Could anyone suggest whether we are using the right method or not. Is there any other efficient way to migrate the Informatica stuff( Mappings/mapplets/workflows & Sessions)
    Please let us know the ROLLBACK Techniques also so that we can rollback if something goes wrong.
    Thanks in Advance
    Anand.

    If you are migrating everything for the first time I assume there is no need for "roll back"..you can just export/import the entire repository. However, as the last user pointed out, you can use a deployment group to do subsequent migrations. You can use a combination of Labels/Deployment groups and these can be static or dynamic (based on a query). The informatica guides have good documentation on deployment group. I would avoid the cut/paste method..try to use import/export or deployment groups.

  • Access 2010 Runtime and Custom Ribbons

    I use access runtime extensively.  Most of my clients have one off databases, do not have Access installed and I must rely on Access Runtime.  So I am currently working through the conversion of databases built in Access 97, 98, ... 2003 to Access
    2010.  I (and my clients like the new ribbon UI).  I had great hopes that the new ribbon editor in Access 2010 would make my task straight forward.  Uncheck the check boxes for the ribbons I don't want the user to see, build a ACCDE/R file and
    then would be good to go...But Alas, runtime does not show the custom ribbon built in the full version... so back to the xml.  But this time with some help with building the XML file (intended or not ??).
    I wanted to duplicate the "Print Preview" and "Home" ribbons in Runtime.
    1. Used the custom ribbon tools in Access 2010 (full version), unchecked all ribbons except Print Preview.
    2. Exported the customizations
    3. Changed the extension to *.xml
    4. Opened in VS 2010. Made the required edits (e.g. visible="true", and a couple of changes at the top).
    5. Saved the file
    6. Copied the xml into the USysRibbons table
    7. Selected the new ribbon in the box provided...
    8. Now I have the UI I want.. (XML Code attached)
    <mso:customUI xmlns:mso="http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2009/07/customui">
    <mso:ribbon startFromScratch="false">

    <mso:group idQ="mso:GroupPrintPreviewData"/>
    <mso:group idQ="mso:GroupPrintPreviewClosePreview"/>
    </mso:tab>

    <mso:group idQ="mso:GroupWindowAccess"/>
    </mso:tab>
    </mso:tabs>
    </mso:ribbon>
    </mso:customUI>
    If anyone knows a more direct "proper" way to get there, please chime in...
    I am not saying this is a good way to accomplish the task. However, it appears to work.
    Ed Warren Raising sails on masts not masts on sails

    First of all thanks for sharing that solution with us, I think it's kind of creative and quite cool on your part.
    I suppose quite a few of us had some high hopes that the new built in ribbon customize was going to be a developer's tool for building new ribbons.
    As you are demonstrating here, the built in customization system is really more of a end users tool.
    I am quite comfortable stating that this tool is not really developers tool for building ribbons from scratch.
    However the procedure you've outlined hints that it would not take an access developer a lot of VBA to "cook up" some VBA code that allows one to "shuffle"
    the ribbon customization in and out of the USYSRibbons to a file. This would presumably allow one to kind of cobble together a system that would let one pretty much build ribbons with the customizer.
    We could even add a new ribbon button to allow this. I think having this setup to push + pull ribbons in and out of the USYSRibbons table would work well
    indded, and it based much on what you showen above.
    However, I going to share my suggestion and approach anyway.
    Just like the query builder for SQL, as a general rule for years I hardly ever look at the SQL code in the SQL view. In fact still even to this day as a general
    rule I build my queries using the query builder.  And, my view of this process is much the same for the ribbon. Why bother to look at SQL or in this case xml?
    So, right from square one just like you (and I) lamented the fact that prior to access 2007 I could build custom menus using the built in tools and not have
    to resort to code or reading something to creating those menus.
    However at the end of the day, all as I did was take a good part of a day off, and build a couple ribbons that I need. At that point, for the next year
    or so all I did was raid those ribbons and use cut and paste to pull that xml to create additional buttons. In fact I've been doing this for so long now, I've actually forgotten pretty much how the original xml even works!
     I don't read nor care about the xml very much at all.
    In a nutshell what I'm saying is, it's really not that big of a deal to build a few ribbons and then just cut + copy them over and over again. In fact I
    actually find this new system significantly superior to the old systems of access menu bar buttons. The problem in the old menu system I could NOT go to three or four previous existing applications and go on an Easter egg hunting raiding party and pull out
    a "few" buttons here and there. (The import option is all or nothing, and it not a clean process at all).
    With xml, it is simple matter to simply just cut and paste these "parts" them into ONE new ribbon. The key concept here is "parts". In other
    words once you get a system in place and get used to doing this, you really never want to go back to using a user interface to build each ribbon up from scratch, or even anything like the old system which while did the job for me for years, but was hard to
    use.
    So, I learned and found that this development paradigm of using cut and paste and pulling out stuff you need from a base set of ribbons that you have is
    really good. In fact, I find it far better then using a graphical interface for building those ribbons.
    At the end of the day, there has to be a significant gain that makes the pain worthwhile. So I used access for more then 10 years, and I STILL don't write the
    SQL by hand. I would never suggest that you start writing SQL by hand because you can cut and paste the SQL? The whole development model of suggesting to cut+paste SQL really doesn't help, and as a general rule I still suggest one would use the query builder
    for building that SQL.
    However in the case of building ribbons, I found the exact opposite and reverse here. So I do think it's worth the while to adopt a cut+paste development
    model. And I think it's a superior development approach that with great ease allows one to pull JUST ONE button, or part out of a existing ribbon, and you can do it far faster then what I good UI would allow.
    Your mileage may vary on the above, but I'm just suggesting that the above approach works well for me, and this is coming from a person that refuses to write
    SQL code by hand .
    By the way if you are looking for something to help you with menu bar mightation that allows enable and disabled buttons (or hide buttons) on a ribbon,
    I have a little ribbon class that I've put together here that allows one to use the old style menu bar syntax to accomplish these things.
     You can find that code here:
