Marketing to sap bw
Hi experts
I have shifted my career from marketing to sap bw,regarding i left marketing job and joined SAP BW course and now trying for the job.
But i am expecting the interview question, why did you shift from marketing career to SAP or what make you to enter in to SAP?
What would be the best answer or suggest me for some tips
Wouldn't that question be best answered with the truth? i don't think people here can tell you why you chose to switch careers.

Hi Gurus,
Can somebody tell me how is the job market in SAP right now...Has it been affected by recession or is it likely to be affected negatively by global recession like other software jobs.
Waiting for your replies eagerly.
Thank you,
Nazim.

Edited by: Lakshmipathi on Feb 24, 2009 11:47 AMI would tend to agree with you. I originally predicted in another thread from last year that things will start stabalizing and picking up in May 09 again. I think this happened after the statutory reports of large companies which is what I was waiting for, but don't want to put my name to it. It was just a 2 cents...
I don't doubt that SAP implementations create value if implemented properly, but the implementation process is often quite long... so there is a knock-on effect to the job market once the existing projects end.
Additionally, for existing customers, the roll-ins and consolidations over the past years are in advanced stages and central component systems is a big hit as evidence.
I am pretty sure that activating user-exits is dead... Maintaining them is probably still very alive...

Development and marketing of SAP EP solutions - any licenses required?
Hi
Not sure which forum to post this in, so - maybe Coffee Corner is a good start
My question is about the licensing required to development and marketing small add-ons / extensions for SAP Enterprise Portal.
Is it possible for the individual developer to develop and market small add-ons for EP in Java WDP, making use of a trail EP installation?
Do you need a special license for this (to develop commercial products)?
Maybe like a [SAP NetWeaver Developer Subscription|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/subscriptions/development?refer=subscriptionslandingpage], or the [SAP Composition Subscription|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/subscriptions/composition?refer=subscriptionslandingpage]?
Reading up on the [Subscriptions FAQ|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/subscriptions/software-faq#q-4-5], and it is not very clear:
Can I use my developed add-ons, extensions, developments, or modifications in a production environment?
In order to run your add-ons, extensions, developments, or modifications in a production environment, you need to purchase the applicable license from SAP. SAP customers or partners who already have an applicable license can use SAP NetWeaver in a production environment.
So-
"SAP customers or partners who already have an applicable license can use SAP NetWeaver in a production environment"
I'm not expecting to run the SAP NetWeaver Developer/Trail version you get with the subscription in a production environment - the question is would any prospective buyers of your developed add-ons be able to run these in their (fully licensed) NetWeaver / EP production environments?
(I feel this FAQ is not answering its own question correctly).
Purchasing a full EP license is a little out of my budget, and even the two developer subscriptions mentioned above are only available in Germany & the USA (and I reside in neither of which).
Any suggestions from the guys & girls of the Coffee Corner?
Thanks!I am not a lawyer, but my interpretation of this is that the subscription systems are for "sneak previews" of releases and experimenting with the software to see whether you like it or not...
So this means that if you do development work on it and want to use it in a production environment, you will need a full license to run the software productively first, and then add your development to that licensed landscape.
This is a different topic to licensing your own development. For this you would need to become a solution partner and request your own namsepace in SAP, and then license it as optional software via service.sap.com.
For the "little individual" like you and me, this is not really an option IMO.
In some special cases, I have seen external coding included in the standard system, and you get a special mention for it sometimes in the coding comments.
I was thinking about the same as well because I am busy experimenting with a tool for making dual maintenance of roles during upgrades easier and know a few customers who would be interested in such a tool (possibly controlled centrally by a SolMan CTS+ with after import rule sets).
Being ABAP, I think I could try to sell it once or maybe twice... but after that I expect it would be "in the wild" and see others posting it here on SDN as well...
On the otherhand, ABAP is more of a hobby for me and I am not a guru at it like many others here. If I were to post it here myself... then I could benefit from other contributions to improving it and making it more robust - like an open source project.
Just some thoughts,

Print Multiple forms per Marketing Document SAP B1 2007
When printing the Delivery document, I need to print a Packing list and a Bill of Lading. How can I acheive this in SAP B1 2007? I am hoping there is a way when pressing the Print button that I can have both documents print like when printing and order, having both an Order and a Pick list print.
TIA!!!
DanaDana,
You can have multiple Layout pages to the PLD.
If you open the PLD of the Delivery document / any marketing document
and From the Print layout designer Menu click display document properties... Paper format tab, you can add 2 or more pages in the field <b>Number of Layout Pages</b>.
By this you can design the second page of the layout accordingly.

SAP SD Consultant.Dear Amlan,
Well I think the foundation of all the new dimensional products is the base modules. Moreover working on the base modules gives the opportunity to understand the business process of different verticals. So there is nothing like end for the market for base modules.
Hope this helps you.

How to assign status profile to marketing campaign ?
Dear Friends,
I am working on Marketing Campaign (SAP CRM 4.0) : I want to customize a new status profile for campaign. I create a new one and I don't know where I assign it to camapign : I searched in SDN and I found a message : "to assign status profile, you have to do when you customize campaign type : Marketing -> Marketing Planning and Campaign Management -> Basic Data -> Define Campaign Types/Objectives/Tactics : in this customizing point, when you define campaign type, here is a status profile field".
The problem is I did not find any "status profile" field in this customizing point.
Thanks in advance for your help.Hi,
Pls follow below said path to create User Status profile
CRM--> Marketing > Marketing Planning and Campaign Management> General Setting --> Change Status Profile for User Status
Once you create Status profile you can see the same in the profile field of Campaign. You will have to assign this profile in the campaign then you can see the statusses in Change Status field,. But these stausses can not over write the system statusses.
Hope this will help..

Installation of SAP NetWeaver on Windows 2003 Server ( 32 Bit )
Hello Gurus,
I am planning installation of SAP Net Weaver - SR2 on Windows Server 2003 ( 32 Bit ) and oracle 10g is my database.
can anybody guide me from where I can install the software coz in the market place SAP N/W-SR3 is available.
Is SAP N/W - SR3 is recommeded for Windows 2003 Server ( 32 Bit ).
Can any body guide me the process & my qurey.
Thanks & Regards
ShishirRead SAp note Note 1108852 - SAP NetWeaver 7.0 / Business Suite 2005 SR3: Windows
it says:
21/MAY/08
SAP system installation only supported on 64-bit operating systems, except for dialog instances
As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 and Business Suite 2005 SR3, SAP only supports to install dialog instances on 32-bit operating systems. All remaining SAP system instances (central instance, database instance, central services instance (SCS), ABAP central services instance (ASCS)) must be installed on 64-bit operating systems. Therefore the folder "SAP Systems" is not available on the "Welcome screen", when you start the installation from a installation master DVD for 32-bit.
You might need to install dialog instances on 32-bit if you want to use 32-bit SAP NetWeaver components, such as Adobe document services. We recommend, however, to first check whether these 32-bit components can run on 64-bit operating systems. If so, we recommend to also use 64-bit systems for these components, including the dialog instance.
If you want to install a non-productive SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 based system (test systems or development are normally productive systems) on 32-bit, proceed as follows:
1. Install a SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR2 (SAP ERP 2005 SR2, SAP CRM 5.0 SR2 SAP SCM 5.0 SR2, SAP SRM 5.0 SR2) system.
2. Patch this system to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SR3 (SAP ERP 6.0, SAP CRM 5.0 SR3, SAP SCM 5.0 SR3, SAP SRM 5.0 SR3). -

SAP Business By Design Software- A Review
SAP Business By Design Software- A Review
An Independent Enterprise Resource Planning Software Review :
SAP is one of the most recognized and trusted brands within the enterprise resource planning (ERP) software industry. Having delivered SAP R/2 in 1979 and SAP R/3 in 1992, the company is one of the original vendors that defined the ERP software market. SAP was started by five IBM engineers in 1972 in exchange for 8% founders' stock. Today the German-based company retains the largest ERP market share of any software vendor; with the possible exception of Oracle depending upon how market share is calculated.
SAP Business ByDesign is the company's software as a service (SaaS) offering targeted to small- and medium-size enterprises (SMEs). On September 19, 2007, a one-size-fits-all, subscription-based ERP system aimed at midmarket companies was released as the first SAP ERP SaaS product, previously code named A1S. After several troubled installations and a flawed go to market strategy, SAP pulled ByDesign from the market for a system revamp and significant code refactoring.
Approximately three years later, Business ByDesign reemerged as a multi-tenant SaaS solution, complete with a new architecture, Silverlight presentation layer and PaaS tools for extensibility. As of December 2011, Business By Design was closing in on its first 1000 customer acquisitions and is available in Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Though SAP ByDesign is targeted toward SMEs with 25+ users, the solution can be used by organizations with as few as 10 users. The ideal range is 25-500 users, but the cloud scalability should facilitate more users if required. Business By Design is also finding a place as a Tier 2 ERP solution—being installed at smaller line of business or geographically dispersed locations and integrated to parent companies using the SAP Business Suite.
While Business ByDesign is the company's first back-office foray into the cloud, SAP has since also released cloud-based Line of Business applications. Sales OnDemand—an SFA application with strong social design—was released in July 2011 and is targeted at SAP ERP or Business Suite customers looking to extend their on-premise systems with add-on cloud components. Interestingly, the Line of Business applications were developed on the Business ByDesign framework, but don't integrate with Business ByDesign. Sales OnDemand only integrates with SAP ERP for back office business processes, so SAP customers seeking a complete software as a service CRM solution are limited to Business ByDesign.
By Design is offered in four enterprise software categories: customer relationship management (CRM), financials, professional services automation (PSA), and supply chain management (SCM). These solutions each include a combination of different modules, and they can be acquired as stand-alone capabilities as well. The entire ERP software suite includes the following:
Customer relationship management (CRM)
Accounting and financials
Project management
Supply chain management (SCM)
Supplier relationship management
Human resources (HR)/payroll
Analytics
Compliance management

SAP Business ByDesign Independent ReviewSAP Business One GUIs (screens or forms) are the primary interface elements. They usually cover a rectangular area on the computer screen and represent certain tasks or applications running on the computer. The user may move them around the computer screen, size, stack, activate, or de-activate them.
When we discuss screens in the context of the SAP Business One System, we usually refer to their work area. You, as the developer, position interface elements within the work area to adapt a screen to a certain task. In addition to the work area, a screen consists of elements. Some elements serve for basic window handling, and some of them are specific for SAP Business One.
There are two basic kinds of screens in the SAP Business One System: primary screens (main menu/forms), and secondary screens (dialog boxes / message windows).
SAP Business One application functions always reside in one main or primary screen where the user's main activity takes place. In addition, secondary screens appear in reaction to the user's actions to supplement the main screen. On both types of screens, the user may enter data, make choices or is informed of errors / consequences of actions. There may be more than one secondary screen opened simultaneously, but only one can be worked with at a time -
Please suggest Universities w/t Full time SAP/ERP courses in US
Hi Seniors,
I'm sorry if this query is posted elsewhere in the forum. I'm and MBA graduate with around 5 Years of HR experience. I'm currently thinking about becoming an SAP Functional consultant in my experience area. Since US is the best market for SAP I'm interested to pursue my PG in SAP/ERP in the US. However, most of the SAP courses are in collaboration with MBA programs. Can anyone please suggest me Universities that conduct full time SAP/ERP courses in the US (any location). Since I have already completed my MBA I don't want to pursue MBA related SAP course.
I'm currently in India and is aiming at the Jan 2015 intake. Therefore, the suggested course/Universities should be able to sponsor International students. Thanks in advance to all your help and suggestions. You can anytime reach me on: [email protected] .Got the info from SAP.
