Master Data-Logic of dates in Master data

Dear Sapients,
In Master data what should be the Logic for BEGDA, for diff. Infotypes and the objects.
In my present project I have taken the earliest hiring date i.e, 01011985 as BEGDA. Is this logic is okie. Else what should be d logic for BEGDA-ENDDA.
In one of my master data position is assigned to cost centres, FI guy has maintained d BEGDA of cost centers from 01012007 but my position's BEGDA is 01011985, I believe it ll be a mismatch n throw error. What should be d solution for this?

the begda of the records always depends upon accepted date s per the requirement of the client
more precisely from which date u r going to maintain the data for the employee in sap system.
generally it is acccepted upon earlier by the client and you.
because it always difficult to maintain all the data of the employee since the icepton of the company.
so a cut off date has to be accepted upon and from that date the data will be maintained and the records will have that BEGDA

InfoSource Types
There are basically two types of InfoSources.
InfoSources with flexible updating
InfoSources with direct updating
In both cases uploaded data is transformed by the transfer rules, which have been created for the current combination of InfoSource and source system and for each InfoObject of the communication structure. A data target can be defined by several InfoSources which in turn can be defined by several source systems.
An InfoSource for hierarchies can only be defined by one source system.
For characteristics, attributes or texts, a combination of flexible and direct updating is only possible for different source systems.
InfoSources with Flexible Updating
For an InfoSource with flexible updating, the data from the communications structure is loaded into the data targets (InfoCubes, ODS objects, master data) using update rules. Several data targets can be defined by one InfoSource. The InfoSource can contain transaction data as well as master data.
This function is not implemented for hierarchies.
Before Release 3.0A only transaction data could be updated flexibly and it was only possible to update master data directly. Master data InfoSources were therefore distinguished from transaction data InfoSources. This is no longer the case as of Release BW 3.0A, since both transaction data and master data can be updated flexibly. You therefore cannot immediately see if it the InfoSource handles transaction data or master data with flexible updating. You should therefore specify which is the case when you define an InfoSource.
You have the following update options:
The data from InfoSources with master data or transaction data can be stored directly in ODS objects.
You can then update from ODS objects into further ODS objects, InfoCubes or master data tables using update rules.
It is also possible to update in InfoCubes or master data tables without having to switch between ODS objects.
InfoSources with Direct Updating
Master data (characteristics with attributes, texts or hierarchies) of an InfoObject can be updated directly (without update rules, only using transfer rules) to the master data table with an InfoSource with direct updating. To do this you must assign it application components. The characteristic is subsequently displayed in the InfoSource tree in the Administrator Workbench. You are able to assign DataSources and source systems to the characteristic from here. You are also able to load master data, texts, and hierarchies for the characteristic.
In the following cases you are not able to use an InfoObject as an InfoSource with direct updating:
The characteristic that you want to modify is characteristic 0SOURSYSTEM (source system ID).
The characteristic has neither master data, texts nor hierarchies. It is therefore impossible to load data for the characteristic.
The characteristic that you want to modify turns out to be a unit or a key figure.
To generate an export DataSource for a characteristic, the characteristic must also be an InfoSource with direct updating.

Hi,
Two are different master info objects and can't get them from one data source.
think about multi provider or info set on two master data objects to club them.
Info object - 0MATERIAL and data source - 0MATERIAL_ATTR
Info object - 0VEDNOR and data source - 0VENDOR_ATTR

Aperture was not able to adjust the date and time of the master file "2008-06-22 at 14-41-14.jpg" because it has a format that does not permit date modification.

I can't seem to find a way to update the date/time of a master file. There is a format issue but I can't seem to figure out how to correct it.

Date management on internal object master data

Hi gurus,
I need to use a set of dates on the internal object master data. On the date profile customizing there isn't anything that reflecting the management of the dates on products or internal object.
However, on the web UI (Internal Objects details screen) I found the field "Date Profile":
- component: PRDHS
- view: PRDHS/Header
- context node: PRODSETWTY
- attribute: STRUCT.TIMEPROF
This field is not active and I also searched for a set type that could allow me to activate it and to insert a date profile for my internal object without success.
I'm searching the way to activate this field on the internal object master data and to understand if it's possible to use the date profile on it.
Your help would be very appreciated.

Hello,
There are no date profiles assigned to products in the CRM system, I believe the same is true for internal objects.
Generally, once a product has been added to an order then the dates from the order/APO system are what are taken into account.
I have checked into internal objects but the only date I can find reference to is a timestamp:

Label Data view in the material master

I read this SAP help portal that said "The Label Data view in the material master allows you to display or edit label data that is specific to the material. "..
may I know where I can find this view in the material master?

Dear Karen,
This "Label Data" is one View in Material Master.
While creating the Material using T.Code MM01, when you are on the Selection screen of Various views, it is Last Option.
i.e. Lable Data
If this view is not there while creating the Material. then it is MM Configuration.
That view is assinged to Material Type.
See in Material Master, Industry Sector and Material Types controls these Views. So with the help of MM Consultnat you
have to get that View Configured to your Material Type.

   I have already read the blog of Mickel and incorporated the code in Change_Pointer_Read.
   It is still not working. Should I include the code at the end of the Function Module. If yes, how to code at the last as
   I can include my code at the SAP suggest Enhancement and End Enhancement.
   Is there any way I can create the implicit Enhancement at the end of the Function Module.
   I will appreciate any help to make the Full Distribution work.

   My requirement is to send the whole Vendor Master in a IDoc even though for eg there is only one field change in address field of Vendor Master. Full Master Data distribution. But the program BD21 creates only IDocs with segments where the changes are made in the particular tab like address.
   Is there any Enhancement or way to enforce the whole Master Data(CREMAS) to be distributed.
   I will really appreciate any helpful answer .

DTP to load master data, gives the message 'No more data available'.

when i execute the DTP to load master data from DSO, it executes and gives the message 'No more data available'. The request is green but no data is transferred from the DSO to master data.
I want the DSO data to get into master data how do i do it?

Hi Hardik,
Since the request is green, there is no error in extraction. But, as they've rightly pointed out, the Update mode of the DTP must be Delta and there must not be any new Master data that you are looking for.
Compare the data and check if the Delta DTP should bring anything at all i.e. new records. If there are no new records, then the Delta DTP will not bring any more data. Else, change mode to Full and check again.

Warranty Date field in the equipment master data

Hi everyone!
I wanted to display the warranty date field in the equipment master data (IE01). I have already made the configuration and added the additional tab and screen thru this path:
Plant Maintenance and Customer Service > Master Data in Plant Maintenance and Customer Service > Technical Objects > General Data > Set View Profile for Technical Objects
But still, the tab is not added and the warranty date field is not found in the "Define Field Selection for the Equipment Master Record". please help me with this. We need this data because we are not using serial numbering and warranty master data that's why a way to track the warranty date is thru this adjustment in the equipment master data screen.

Make sure that you have assigned this specific profile to the Equipment category of the associated equipment that you are creating under SPRO > PM> Master data> tech object > Equipment > Equip category.

Question: to have different 2 key dates to show time-dep master data.

I would kindly like to ask your suggestion in this challenges.
In our Finance report e.g AR Report, we have 2 Year to dates of Key Figures. 1) Current Year to date, and 2) previous Year to dates. We want to have the report shows time-dependent master data navigation attribute based on this 2 year to dates.
I am thinking to have 2 Key Date selection parameter in the report e.g. 1) Current key-date, and 2) Previous Key-date
The report above will show COLOR as per key date. If the posting is 'Previous YTD', the COLOR will show based on 'Previous Key Date', and if the posting for 'Current YTD', the COLOR will show based on 'Current Key-Date'.
The question are:
1) What to do for customization if we want to have 2 key dates in Query or Report? If you have experience it before, could you please share?
2) If you think that there is other way, feel free to share it.

Loading GL Master Data -- Attributes, Text, Hier ; and Transaction Data

Hi all,
Could any one give me the steps individually to load the following type of data in BI 7.0:
1. Master Data with Attributes
2. Master Data with Text
3. Master Data with Hierarchy
4. Transaction Data
Do I have to create the Transformation and DTP's individually to load all the above kind of Data?
Please give me the information as much as you can.

For master data when you create tranformation it will prompt infoobject to act as infoprovider, and then you create DTP to schedule data to it. It works fine with attribute and Texts, though hierarchy dosn;t support much features of 2004s at my side. Like i am not able to migrate Hierarchy datasource to 2004s, and even when i replicate it, it comes as 3.5 datasource only.
For transaction data follow Gokuls step, or try to find on forums you will get lot of discussion on it.

Why doesn't Aperture use iPhoto's date logic?

This is how image date logic works in iPhoto. This image date value is used in queries and sorts.
1. Image date is stored in database.
2. Initial value taken from image metadata if available.
3. If image metadata not available, use file date.
4. User can edit database date (does not change file header).
This is how it seems to work in Aperture 1.5
1. Image date is stored in database.
2. Initial value taken from iPhoto database if import from iPhoto.
3. If not import from iPhoto, initial value taken from image metadata if available.
4. If image metadata not available, use file date.
5. User CANNOT edit database date.
I was shocked (really, I'm still stunned) that Aperture 1.5 still does not equal iPhoto's date management capabilities. Since Aperture is a Pro application it's reasonable to have several date fields, but one of them should behave like iPhoto. That metadata field should be useable in queries/filters, sorts, display, book printing, etc. It should be the default date metadata element for all date related operations.
Please note, it's fine that Aperture does not muck with image file (exif) metadata -- that's dangerous. EXIF is a quasi-standard badly implemented.
So now, my question. Why?
Aperture 1.5 was a huge update. They fixed much more than I thought was possible. It could have been labeled Aperture 3.0. Offering it free to users was a genuine apology, gratefully accepted I'm sure. It took all my strength of will not to order it immediately, waiting instead for the initial reviews to come in.
So there had to be a reason Aperture's Product Manager, Joe Schorr, had not to implement iPhoto's image date behavior. Something he'd thought carefully about.
What was it?

Perhaps it's just that they don't have infinite resources ?
The big deal (for me) was that they can "import" files but leave them on the filesystem. In true Apple fashion though, they took the extra steps of allowing management of the images within the application (consolidate and relocate). Perhaps the knock-on effects of all the things they did implement prevented them from doing other things...
We see Apple as a corporate entity, master of its domain, all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful within the confines of an Infinite Loop. In reality it's a bunch of people who only have a fixed number of hours in the day to work. Someone takes the decision that X is more important than Y and Y is dropped for this release - it's that simple IMHO.
In any event, I'd like to know how many people worked on Aperture 1.5 - the difference between the Aperture update and the Lightroom update was huge! Do they have lots more engineers/QA, or did they just get more done in the same time-frame ?

I found why the April month i din't get the $20 because the startdate of my perks CTE '2014-04-03'. If it is '2014-04-01' then i will get the expected output.

I'm just going to focus on the JOIN criteria in this reply since my answer above and your 2nd response are essentially the same except for the JOIN.
What your are describing and what you are doing in code is conflicting.
You are saying this:
"I just need to check whether the perks start date falls in between month start date and month end date"
..., which translated directly to code would be this:
ON perks.StartDate >= CustomMonths.StartDate
AND perks.StartDate <= CustomMonths.EndDate
What I believe you are getting after is this:
"I just need to check whether the dates within the perks start and end date range fall in between month start date and month end date"
..., which translated directly to code would be this, which is also my answer proposed above:
ON CustomMonths.StartDate >= DATEADD(DAY, -(DAY(perks.StartDate) - 1), perks.StartDate)
AND CustomMonths.StartDate <= perks.EndDate
However, if you really want to use the code solution you proposed, then you would actually be saying this:
"I just need to check whether the dates within the perks start and end date range fall in between month start date and month end date, but if perk end date happens to be the first day of the month, then ignore it and use the previous day."
..., in which case then your code, as follows, would be the solution:

I prefer simply subtracting one less than the current day number from the given date to get to the same first day of the month value.

MDX calculation based on date logic for the Jan 1 of current year through the 15th of the previous month

We need some help with an SSAS MDX query based on date logic. One of the problems is that I don't have access to the Cube but have been given a query example with the logic needed for the calculation. Here's the scenario;
The ETL process will run on the first Tuesday after the 15th of a given month. The Analysis Cube data queried should include the current year up to the end of the previous month. For example, on May 19th
(the first Tuesday on or after the 15th) the query should include data from January 1st through April 30th.
The 15th of the month is not part of the query, it is a factor in when the query is run. The query will always be in terms of complete months.
