Material master impact in quotation

Hi Gurus,
              Here is my requirement.
1. By the time my business do the quotation for a customer, We are not sure which exact materials are required to complete project.
2. But business wants to create quotation with some description of materials, That how they are doing now.
3. I know SAP does not allow creating quotation with out material.
4. So i suggested them to create quotation with current SAP material number only - But you can change quotation later.
A. I am doing availability check for material, But this will not block the quantity for this quotation. (i am assuming that this can be called as Requirements will not be transferred for planning)
My question is does this impact any accounts or inventory?
Thank you
ANil

Hi Anil,
I am not wellworsed with Availablity check but i think in Schedule line categort we have 2 tabs,TOR,Availablity check and Product allocation.
I feel for your reuqirement you should check first two and uncheck the product allocation.
Get suggestions from others too and check out.
Thanks,
Sree.Manam

  • Creating material without material master record

    Hai,
Can u pls help to solve this scenario.
client is having MTO type Business Process.
They have to create a material which doesnt have material master record in quotation.(So we Can have text material).
But for that material we neeed to do costing , so i have activated EK02 in QT doct type.
So costiong is possible for normal material.
But for text material error comes as like.
    *_Specify at least 1 unit__Message no. BM018*_
    _Diagnosis_
No unit was included. Conversion or determination of conversion factors is therefore not possible.

Here there are 2 Options: can be follow,-
    - 1:
Client has to create one dummy material & do the costing for this material, Once Client receives the Purchase Order from the Customer, then create Order with ref to the same quotation & Change the Dummy Material to the New Material-FG product.
    would be the better option,
    02:
we too have same scenario, But we have told the Client, before Preparing Quotation, create FG material & do the Costing. In our case, Client is preparing Costing sheet based on Order i.e Product Cost by Order.
Becoz without FG , user cant have BoM for the same.
    It is regular field requirement.

  • Material master screens requirement

    Hi guru's,
I've a unique business scenario and would like to get your inputs on this.
    Here is my business scenario:-
Our material master screens/tables are hugely customized. We have lots of custom fields on mara, marc, mvke and mbew. We have been using custom screen sequence (yz) for material master for a long time and not any of the SAP provided standard screen sequences. Lot of the these custom fields are put in yz screen sequence screens. We have lot of materials on production with these custom fields populated. We got a business requirement to activate material ledger now and requirement is to put back 21 standard screen sequence. But 21 screen sequence doesn't have any of the custom fields.
I know one way is to setup new screen sequence(copying 21) and put these custom fields but I would like to get your expert advise before moving forward.
What are other ways to achieve this ? Any easy ways ?
Can we just modify accounting view on yz ?
What other impacts are we going to have for material ledger activation from MM point of view and during go-live ?
Sorry I've not worked on Material ledger activated environment before.
    hope to hear some inputs.
    Thank you in advance.

can anybody post their input please ?

  • Change price in material master

    Dear Experts,
May I know how we can change std. price that maintained in material master. I believe t/code MR21 use to change price for MOP (moving average price) but I'm not sure for std. price.
*Please assist me how we can use MR21 & what are the important element need to take care during price change by using MR21. And please help me to understand the t/code as well.
    Thank you.
    rgds,
    nantha

    HI,
MR21 is for valuation price change. Go to t code and enter the material number and new price and save.
Check the accounting impact in accounting documents.

  • Material group in material master for different plants

Warm greetings Masters of Material Management
We have one material master for three different plants example  1000, 2000 &3000 with same material group  with different valuation class
If we change material group in plant 2000 it is reflected in 1000 & in 3000
My question is  this the standard practice that material group changed in one plant will be reflected in other plants

    Thank u Amola
The current situation, if user change  material group for plant 2000, it is effected in plant 1000 & in 3000

  • Material Master Field Change

    Hi Experts
I have a Field in MRP2 View MARC -> Field LGPRO (Issue Storage Location).
I am using MRP2 view, only for this field.
    1) Is it possible I can move this Field to Plant/Storage location view ??
    2) How to restrict this setting only for particular material types.
    Regard

You need to move the entire sub screen. If you go to SPRO->logistics General> material master>configuring material master--> define structure of data screens for each screen sequence. Say select 21 that is std ind ( short) tab pages and make a copy of that say Z1. In that if you go to MRP2 view the sub screen containing storagelocation field is with screen number 2484.
Now if you go to Plant storage data view 1 and select dialog structure subscreens; here the screen with 0001 can be changed to 2484. However since this is related to MRP view the maintainance status needs to be changed to D from L else you will not be able to see the fields. But if you change the status to D the orginal sub screens of Plant data/storage1 will not appear.
You will have to check  that these subscreens can be moved to Gen plant data/storage2.
Finally you need to assing this Z1 under same node but assign screen sequences to user/material type/transaction/industry sector under that
SREf Trans      Sref user    Sref Matl type                      Sref : industry     Ssq
01                      *                relevant material type          *                        z1 ( the one which was created as above)
However  material master being very critical it is advised not to make such changes and if any changes are made it has to be thoroughly tested for the impact.

  • What plants is the Material Master used in?

    Hi guys,
Can you advise of the transaction that would be used to find out what plants a specific material master is used in. I would liek to make some changes that are plant specific but cannot if another plant is using the material master.
    Paul

I would liek to make some changes that are plant specific but cannot if another plant is using the material master.
    for
When you want to make some plant specific changes why you bother whether other plants are using that material or not. because what ever you change it's appplicable only for that specific plant and it doesnt impact the other plants?

  • PGI Should get block - without material cost in material master

    Hi All,
The scenario is we want to show error message while doing PGI if the material does not have any material cost in material master. How it is possible? Will we able to do with standards?
Scenario: Material cost is nil in the material master, system should through error message if it do PGI for that material.
Please let us know to solve it out.
    Thanks and Regards
    Lakshmikanth

    Dear friend
According to me this should not be SD consultants worry at all
1.The moving ave price or standard price needs to be mentioned in MMR by MM people depending on the material type and valuation class choosen and whether you are choosing accounting view
2.Most of the material types which comes for sales like FERT i dont think you can save their Material master records without mentioning either standard price or moving ave price in the accounting view
(It really surprises me that there is a material available for sale without mentioning either standard price or moving ave price in the accounting view of its master record) ( What i mean is it is already mandatory )
If not made then in OMS9 you can make it as mandatory
All these should solve your purpose
From SD side you can include VPRS condition type in the pricing procedure which will be statistical
Try changing  that to mandatory and see what is the impact
I think now at sales order level itself you can control

  • Usage of deleted material master code

    Hello,
I have one query related to material masters (MM01, MM02).
A material is marked for deletion using T-code MM06 some time back.
Now due to some reason this material is required to manufacture a batch.
So can u please tell me -
    How to unblock this material?
Is there any impact occurs in any module link with material master (i.e. QM, PPMC, FI or CO or else)
How can i cross verify its impacts?
I am highly obliged if you clear my doubts. So that i can proceed for batch manufacturing without any hassle.
    Regards,
    Snehal Roy

    Hi there
In MM06 you can revoke it and use it,,
Just check the source list validity and regenerate if required..also the Info record validity period and price vlaue,, if you want to change the proce use the MR21 to change the price for the material ,,
    Hope it helps

  • What is Material master workflow

    Hi gurus ,
Can anybody explain what is Material master workflow & Function Module ?what is its use?
    Dev
Edited by: dev .. on Oct 15, 2008 8:21 AM

    Dear,
You can find much info about workflows at: http://www.erpgenie.com/workflow/index.htm
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/EN/04/926f8546f311d189470000e829fbbd/frameset.htm
Workflow is a tool for automating the business process so that the process itself flows smoothly, without bottlenecks and without dead ends. Critical parts of the process can be streamlined with deadline monitoring and contingency options. Participants are informed of milestones in the process. The process definition itself is powerful enough to allow business re-engineering with re-training and to eliminate the impact of workforce changes on the basic business process.
SAP Business Workflow is the R/3 tool for handling the process automation within R/3 or between R/3 systems and other systems involved in the business process. It is flexible enough to handle ad hoc processes such as the circulation of an electronic document. It is robust enough to handle mission critical process in the production system such as the creation of a material master.
The different R/3 applications supply standard workflows for the commonly occurring processes. Once these workflow templates are activated, they are ready for immediate use. A complete set of workflow tools, including the workflow editor and workflow generation wizard, are provided to enhance these standard workflows or create new workflows. These tools are complemented with transactions for monitoring, tracking and the statistical analysis of the processes.
Because the business process often does not step at the R/3 boundary, various interfaces and third party tools are available for extending the process across systems.
    Function module
Function modules are procedures that are defined in special ABAP programs only, so-called function groups, but can be called from all ABAP programs. Function groups act as containers for function modules that logically belong together. You create function groups and function modules in the ABAP Workbench using the Function Builder.
Function modules allow you to encapsulate and reuse global functions in the SAP System. They are managed in a central function library. The SAP System contains several predefined functions modules that can be called from any ABAP program. Function modules also play an important role during updating  and in interaction between different SAP systems, or between SAP systems and remote systems through remote communications.
Unlike subroutines, you do not define function modules in the source code of your program. Instead, you use the Function Builder. The actual ABAP interface definition remains hidden from the programmer. You can define the input parameters of a function module as optional. You can also assign default values to them. Function modules also support exception handling. This allows you to catch certain errors while the function module is running. You can test function modules without having to include them in a program using the Function Builder.
The Function Builder  also has a release process for function modules. This ensures that incompatible changes cannot be made to any function modules that have already been released. This applies particularly to the interface. Programs that use a released function module will not cease to work if the function module is changed.

  • User Defined Field in Material master

    Hi Friends,
Can we add any user defined fields in any views in  material master (preferably with F4 help)
If so, please let me know how to do it and its impact.
    Regards
    Ram

    Hi Ramachandran,
    Of course.
    1.  If there is an existing Material Class, use it, unless modifying that class interferes with existing business processes.  Otherwise create a new class using CL01.  Use class type 001.
    2.  Create a characteristic using CT04 that represents your new field.  The characteristic will be your new field name and the description will be the description.
    3.  Using CL02, assign the characteristic to the existing material class, or to the new one you just created in step 1.
    4.  If this is a new system, you will have to create user instructions as to how to maintain the field.  The field will exist in the Classification view of the Material master in MM01/02/03, and the contents can be edited just like any field.
    5.  If this is an existing system, you will have to populate this field in all of the existing material masters.  Depending on the size and complexity of data, you may have to create a Legacy System Migration Workbench (transaction LSMW) project to bring all the fields up to date.
As far as F4 help, depends on where you want to see it.  Within the classification view of the material master, it is possible to establish a validation in CT04 that will require your users to pick from an established validation list when they select the F4 key.  If you want F4 help in other places, you should consult your ABAP'ers, who should be able to set this up for you.
Impact of a new characteristic/class is zero.  Impact of adding a characteristic to an existing class is dependent on your current use of the existing classes.  Writing reports which use these data is a well understood technique within the ABAP community.  Although the field will not exist in MARA table, it can still give you the same functionality as if it did.
I do not recommend that you add a field to MARA, even though this is possible.  Although hotpack upgrades will leave a customer generated MARA field alone, whatever functionality you create to use this new field will be endangered with every OSS note and every hotpack upgrade you install.  Since Characteristics and Classes are considered master data, SAP hotpacks pretty much leave them alone.

  • Price unit field in material master

    Hi all,
Could you please tell me the use of price unit field in accounting view of material master? I know that it is the unit in terms of which standard price is maintained in material master. I also know that it should be equal or less than costing lot size. But i wanted to know if there is any other impact/use of this field like impact on per unit price etc.
    Regards
    Suresh

    Hi
    You have understood it correct...
Just to add one more point, SAP recommends Price Unit to be higher i.e. 100 or 1000 in order to avoid rounding differences in Product Costing, variance calculation

  • Donot Cost Field in Material Master when Price indicator is S & V

    Hello,
Could somebody please explain me the impact of selecting the field "Donot Cost" in the Costing Tab of the material master. What would be the impact if the Price indicator is S or V.
Is the material not included in the costing analysis for the project if this field is ticked
    Thanks,
    Lavanya

    Hi Lavanya,
The Do Not Cost indicator denotes whether the material is to be costed while cost run i.e. while executing ck40n. If the indicator is set, the material is excluded from selection and no BOM and Routing of the same will be exploded. It means you cannot create material cost estimate (with or without quantity structure).
Price Indicator controls the movement of the material and its valuation.
If the Price Indicator is S and the Do not Cost indicator is active, the standard price of the material will never get updated.

  • Sp;. Procurement Field in Material Master

    Hello
I just wanted to know the  relevance of Special Proc field in MRP 2 View of the Material Master.
What is the impact of it if we mark it as 20 in case of a Consignment stock material ??
How a Consignment material is treated with this ?

    hi,
20 indicator stands for "By converting the planned order either into a production order or a purchase requisition"
The planned order therefore firstly creates planned orders, which you can then convert into production orders or purchase requisitions.
    hope it helps..
