Maverick OS and Netflix. Any issues?

Netflix has stopped working on my iMac since I installed Maverick. iTunes and Apple TV are still operating, and Netflix opens but won't load content. 'm not sure if there's a connection, but has anyone encountered the same issue?

Yeah, me too.  I contacted Netflix and they said to uninstall and reinstall microsoft Silverlight.

  • MSSQL and JDBC - any issues ?

My website hosting company recommend that I use MSSQL rather than MySql because my site is hosted on Windows servers. Is there any issues of compatibility with JDBC and MSSQL. It being Microsoft there is bound to be some little nuances which will hold back easy connectivity from my desktop application. Would really appreciate anyone's thoughts. Thanks in advance, Hugh

I actually prefer MS SQL Server with the jTDS driver to any other databases I've used. No little M$ nuances that I've discovered.
Of course I like the product no matter how you connect to it. I have a single MS SQL Server that has served as the central database for a website, a Tier II ERP system, a Workflow system, a CRM package and the thing has been running non-stop (no shutdowns and virtually NO application error logs) for 1 year and 4 months. Seriously. The thing's a rock.

  • Anyone install Snow Leopard on a 13" MacBook Pro and have any issues?

Just wondering if anyone is this forum installed Snow Leopard on a MacBook Pro 13" and what occured if any?
just want to know to really think before i upgrade.... getting really tense about this after seeing all these problems that are not only happening to third party apps but to the acctual system and native apps (safari, itunes, etc) Kinda Scared... i know Apple is a great company and does great things never imagined and im a big fan for 6 years when i was little, so i was surprised to see so many problems after release...

I am having a similar issue. I have upgraded my Mac Pro without any issues. However, my MB Pro has told me that the install was successful and was to restart. Upon restart the machine passes the initial boot (Apple Logo and Spinner) then it presents a black screen and will not complete the boot to the login screen. The fan is running, if I close the lid it tries to sleep, but does not appear to sleep. It is on and the light is solid (no pulsing for sleep).
I booted in verbose and the messages all looked good and then it posted the last messages to fast to see and it went to black screen.
    Very Frustrating....

  • Xserve 2006 and Lion -- any issues

We just became aware that our old suite of 2006 Xserves cannot do Mountain Lion -- a bit of a surprise. We got these 4 years ago so then the deal we got seemed good.  So my quesiton which I cannot find a clear answer to is this:  Are there issues with Lion on these old Xserves we are missing.  I get this gut feeling from having run Lion on 4 of these for better part of year and now finding them failing  and having to reinstall -- corruption issues--- that as a transition from Snow Leopard to Moutain Lion that some issues may be the almost transition status of Lion that leads to Mt Lion.
Cany anyone provide information if we are going to have these  problems again?  Is trying to run more than Snow Leopard Server on the 2006 Xserves going to continue to have issues?  We had hoped to go to Moutain Lion which clearly is more robust and not with issues that Lion Server brought, but that is not going to work.  Our racks do not have room, nor do we have funds to buy some new Mac Pro Servers. And even the expense of 4 new mini servers and the need to get a HD rack to work with them rather than bays of  Xserves which we use as file servers is more than we had planned for in this years budget.
The ultimate question in having file servers for a mostly now Mac with a few specialized Windows 7 hard ware  (and ipads and iphones) end up being better on Snow Leopard?  One issue is that some of file servers have people running a few items on them, may be hard to also go back to Snow Leopard, but then we have tried to push these as archival file servers and do your work locally but the old habits of working on files on the servers still is hard to kill in  people who say well we have never done it that way.. argggg.
Any feedback on what we are trying to do would be very much appreciated before we go too much further down rabbit trail of keeping Lion going on these servers. 3 of the 4 have issues now, the ones that people do alot of file access on  -- maybe a problem with Lion and file servicess???
    Thanks in advance,
    Russ Jacobson

  • Airport Extreme, PS3 and Netflix connectivity issue.

Up until a few months ago my setup was working fine to stream Netflix over my PS3, now I am unable to stream netflix on my PS3 when connected to my Airport.  Before you jump to the conclusion that the PSN outage is the root cause of my current issues let me assure you that is not the case.
    1. I am connected via ethernet (not wirelessly, although that does not work either for the record).
    2. I have updated my PSN password and am able to connect and use other services (such as multiplayer games) successfully.
    3. I can use netflix on any of my other computers connected to the same Airport without issues (wired or wireless).
When I connect the PS3 directly to my modem everything works fine, netflix connects and I can play anything I could before.  As soon as I connect my Airport between my modem and my PS3 the ability to use netflix disappears.
I have attempted port forwarding (80 and 443).
I have NAT Port Mapping enabled.
I have tried setting the PS3 up with a static IP and enabled it as the default host (DMZ).
    I have tried connecting wirelessly.
I have tried changing the MTU on the PS3 to 1492 (a suggestion from another forum).
I have tried power cycling all the equipment.
I have even tried resetting my Airport to factory defaults, all with no luck.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?  I have seen a few other threads from last year dealing with the Xbox360 but nothing current.  This is driving me crazy as we have been without netflix now for months.  Any help or suggestion that I have not tried???

    Welcome to the discussions!
Is your Netgear a simple modem (it will have only one ethernet port) or is it a gateway (combination modem & router with 3-4 ethernet ports)?
If your Netgear is a gateway, as I suspect, have you configured the AirPort Extreme as a "bridge" so that it will function correctly on the network?
AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > Internet icon > Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Might be a good idea to check your ethernet cable as well. It should connect from one of the LAN <-> ports on the Netgear gateway to the WAN (circle icon) port on the AirPort Extreme.

  • TS3243 The light on my Time Machine disk is on all the time. The back ups still occur OK and without any issues but I need to 'turn off' the light. Any ideas?

The light on my external Time Machine drive is on all the time. Up until about six onths ago it only came on when it was backing up. The drive is working perfectly and backing up regularly, but the light is driving me mad. I have tried to find an option to put it out but so far have not managed to do it. The drive is a Seagate 1TB Freeagent and has 913 GB free so cannot be anywhere near full. Can anyone offer any advice or guidance to turn the light off?

I suggest that you contact Seagate technical support.
    Ciao.

  • Apple TV Netflix streaming issues

    July 9, 2014
This is a comment for those having problems with Netflix
    I have AppleTV and Netflix.
Issue 1: After recent Apple automatic update I received error message for two days. Could not access programming.
I called Netflix support. First person I talked to told me to contact my WiFi service provider. Knowing how my service provider (Cox) operates, I didn't bother.
Next day I called back to Netflix, this time I got the right person. Gave me couple instructions, five minutes later, everything working. I did have to re-register my PW but the support person made it easy.
Issue 2: I don't need captions but wife does. Always had problem with captions out of sync or fade away -- useless. Recently I connected cable from router to ethernet connection on AppleTV. Works perfect. No problem. I have Cox tier 2 WiFi which is 5Mbps. Works fine. No need to pay higher cost for higher tiers.

    There is good news coming!
Technology experts are working on a movie storage system where YOU have physical possession of the movie.
This system stores the movie digitally on an optical disk system that will not be dependent upon a congested, complicated, and fragile network.  Because all of the data is stored only a few feet from your television, all the bottlenecks are removed.  Performance and reliability are virtually flawless.
Further, the system will not utilize any form of security codes, authentications, or passwords. Once the optical disc is purchased it can be moved around freely at will, and can even be lent or given to friends and neighbors with zero hassles.
And if you don't like the movie, you can sell it for close to your purchase price!

  • Does anyone still have problems with Premier Pro on Maverick? and is there any known fix?

Does anyone still have problems with Premier Pro on Maverick? and is there any known fix?

I know OSX 10.9 Mavericks introduced a power saving feature called App Nap which is meant to slow down applications that it determins are inactive (or when minimized). This would mostly likely cause problems if you're dynamically linking After Effects comps to your timeline or sometimes exporting to Media Encoder.
Try disabling App Nap for all your Adobe App files...
    Go to your Applications folder
Go into individual Adobe app folders (ie. Adobe Premiere Pro CC)
Right-click on the Adobe app file (ie. Adobe Premiere Pro CC.app) and select Get Info
When the info window opens up, add a checkmark beside "Prevent App Nap"
    Restart the application
This fixed all my performance issues.

  • Apple Tv 2, NetFlix and a new issue

I am on the road, my Apple TV 2 and I are in Panama. Netflix has just, today, started service in Panama. I can access my account with my laptop without any issues. Apple Tv allows me to login, select programming and when I press paly I get this message.
Your device must be updated to play instantly from Netflix. Visitmanufacturer's website or devices netflix.com / NRD for more information."
Netflix says call Apple, they have no clue. SO I am here, anyone have a clue?

    Lee,
I'm in the Dominican Republic and having the same issue.  Netflix will not work on my Apple TV 2, iPad or iPhone.  Looks like Netflix needs to update it's Apps.

I will check.  Can the security update be installed if you can no longer open the Mac App Store app?
I was listening to the MacCast podcast and the host had a similar issue and did something similar to the link below.  I am concerned that I may mess something up by doing this.

  • Safari and Netflix main page issue

    Hi All,
I have an issue with safari and the main netflix page.  This only happens on the macs in the household, and not the pcs or any of the streaming devices, including the apple TV.  When I try to launch the following page from safari, the safari will load part of the page then hang.  All other browsers on the machine also stop working (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
    http://movies.netflix.com/WiHome
Loading the page on windows 7 computers does not present this problem.  In addition, I have noticed that a traceroute from the windows pcs returns a different address than the macs, and the while the traceroute completes on the Windows machines, it times out on the Macs.
I've removed and re-installed silverlight, performed a dnsflush.  I also tried replacing routers.  I placed our time capsule directly on the cable modem, and it appeared to help.  However, my house is hard wired so this was only a temporarly solution.  At any rate it doesn't appear to explain why the PCs remain unaffected.
I installed a different hard wired router, and experienced similar issues, so while I could understand one router being faulty, two is suspect.  I would also add that I have this problem both when using a wired connection and a wireless connection.
Are there any specific network settings that would cause this issue with the Macs?  I am new to the OS X world and am not as familiar with the underpinnings of the networking settings.  Could there be a "stuck" setting somewhere that is causing the browser to use an old dns entry for Netflix?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Silverlight maybe the problem. Here is a 2011 thread which discusses the problem:

  • Any Issues with X250 and Using 3 Monitors?

With input from this forum, I went ahead and ordered an X250.  ETA first week of April.  Thank you... (ask me in May if I am still as grateful   )
My plan is to also purchase an Ultra dock and use the screen on the notebook as well as two external displays.  I did some research and understand certain video ports take priority over others, but this should no be an issue.
After reading another thread (here) I am concerned this setup may not be as reliable as one would hope.  I realize the thread references an X240 (not an X250), but would like to know if others have a 3 display setup with the X250 and if they enountered any issues?
Thanks again.  This group has provided a wealth of information that has essentially kept me in the Lenovo camp.  I currently use a W520 and was pretty close to moving another manufacturer altogether.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Technobob,
I'm using a ThinkPad X240 daily on a ThankPad Ultra Dock with two 1920x1080 DisplayPort monitors simultaneously with the X240 LCD. Also have an X250 which occasionally gets plugged in to the same dock and all three monitors work, no issues.
    Hope this helps!
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!
