Mavericks and Microsoft Office compatibility?

I had Microsoft Office 2011 on my Imac and everything worked fine until I downloaded Mavericks a couple of days ago. Since then I cannot activate Office programs and it keeps asking the product key. To make things worse, it doesn't recognize my product key!
Is that a known problem? Is there a solution?
Thanks

Yes there is a solution.

  • Mavericks and Microsoft Office 2011 (Problem even after Complete format of MBPRO)

    After Mavericks Install on my MBPRO I ran into problems with Word 2011.
    I completely updated it and Mavericks.
    What happens is that when I open some Word files, Word crashes without a say, but I can open them as Guest.
    I thought I would fix the problem by formatting my computer and reinstall everything on it, but I get the same problem!
    I did not use time machine nor migration assistant or any such way to restore my computer, so there is no way that old user files could be causing this!
    What on earth can I do!
    BTW I have Microsoft Word: 14.3.8
    MAC OS X
    Software  OS X 10.9 (13A603)

    I saw some other threads that indicated certain fonts were causing the issue.  I believe they had to remove Office and then reinstall which would only have the package fonts. Do a search and see if you can find those comments.

  • AppleWorks 6 and Microsoft Office in Mavericks?

    I want to upgrade my 13" MacBook Air from OS 10.6.8 to Mavericks, but I need to continue using AppleWorks 6.2.9 and Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac.  How can this be accomplished?

    Neither will work in any version of OS X after Snow Leopard.
    Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
    If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
    You may want to consider as well:
    These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
    And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
    Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
    Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
    As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
    (Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

    Yes.  I ran it successfully on Mountain Lion and had no problems when I upgraded to Mavericks.  Be sure to apply the latest software updates.

  • Remove microsoft office compatibility pack 2007

    We have upgraded all clients to Office 2010 so there is not need for microsoft office compatibility pack 2007 so I want to remove it.  The compatibility pack was pushed via GPO.  I was removed from GPO but "let user continue to use" was selected.
    Now when trying to remove it using msiexec /qn /x{90120000-0020-0409-0000-0000000FF1CE} on almost all pcs I am getting a failure and it is not uninstalling.  MSIEXEC error code it 1605.Jason

    I haven't any HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
    But I found the key
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\000021090200A0C00000000000F01FEC\InstallProperties
    with values
    DisplayName     = Paquete de compatibilidad para 2007 Office system  (same product in Spanish)
    UninstallString  = MsiExec.exe /X{90120000-0020-0C0A-0000-0000000FF1CE}
    There is a little change in the GUI, may be related to SP3 for Compatibility Pack, which is installed. That UnistallString worked for me.
    In a startup script it must include "/qn" as there is no user interaction. I.e.
    msiexec /qn /x {90120000-0020-0C0A-0000-0000000FF1CE}
    Yes, I do know: this thread is a year old. But may be this post help somebody :-)

    Hi I've just upgraded my MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. Now my installed programs:- Quarkxpress 6.5 - Adobe creative suite CS2 - Adobe Acrobat 7.0 professional and Microsoft Office 2004 will not open - I get a banner saying not supported by power mac. Can anyone please help me I really need these programs for my work. Thank you!

    hi tuggerose
    i think it is bad new for you. if it's any consilation i went through the same thing when i loaded mountain lion when it first came out. i think the problem is that mountain lion is a pure 64bit operating system and the software you have is 32bit. earlier os's were able to emulate 32bit but the new system does not. the answer is new software. i did it and it cost me a load of money and much angst so your not alone.

  • IMovie and Microsoft Office NOT WORKING! PLEASE HELP!

    Just recently, out of nowhere, my iMovie and Microsoft Office stopped working; they won't turn on. I have Leopard 10.5, and they had been working on it since recently. Whenever I start iMovie, the "This program has quit unexpectedly" window comes up. Here's what I did. Firstly, I reported the problem to Apple and tried relaunching the program. That didn't work. Then, I deleted anything I had downloaded recently that may have affected it. Nothing. Next, I tried going into Library>Preferences and deleting all files with "iMovie" in the name. Nada. I then opened up disk utility and repaired disk permissions; yup, you guessed it, it didn't work. Finally, I archived and reinstalled Leopard, but it's still not working.
    As for Microsoft Office, I have only reported the problem and deleted recent downloads. I haven't tried anything else (excluding the Leopard thing) to fix Office.
    Please help ASAP! I need both of these applications for an upcoming project... and I may have to see a Mac Genius after this...
    This is my last hope!
    Thank you so much!
    My AIM is tas121694 and email is [email protected]
    Thanks again,
    Todd

    Well, that tells us that it's most likely something in your user account and not with iMovie or Office in general. If you need to get your videos edited right away and don't have time for troubleshooting, you can transfer them to the other account by copying them into the Users -> Shared folder. That would allow you to have access to them from the working account.
    As to fixing the problem, you might try asking in the iMovie forum. It's possible that you have a corrupted project that iMovie keeps trying to open by default and that deleting that project might fix the problem. I'm not an iMovie user, though, so I'm not sure. Asking in the iMovie forum will probably get you more informed suggestions.
    As to Office, what version is it, and do none of the applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage) launch, or is it just some and if so which one(s)?

  • MacBook Pro 2011- Allowed updates to install for iTunes software and Microsoft office (I think).  After rebooting, computer wouldn't progress past grey apple screen with loading circle.

    I have a MacBook Pro 2011.  I allowed updates to install for iTunes software and Microsoft office (I think).  After rebooting, computer wouldn't progress past grey apple screen with loading circle.  No progression bar ever appeared.  It just sits and spins.  I tried rebooting with Command + Option + R + P and hearing the chime twice....this did not work.
    I also tried Command +Option+R which took me to internet recovery.  From there, I chose reinstall Mac OS X Lion 10.7 but it says my hard drive is locked so I wasnt able to select it.  What do I do???? Help!  I don't want to lose my files and it doesnt appear that I've used Time Machine Back Up.

    I you upgraded to OS X 10.8, then use RecoveryHD by holding Command R at boot time (no option) and reinstall OS X over itself that way so your installing  Mountain Lion.
    Also Disk Uility can be used to Repair the Macintosh HD parttion.
    Also you can use that RecoveryHD to format and install OS X onto a external drive, then option/alt key boot from it and access your files on the non-booting internal drive before erasing, reformatting and reinstalling OS X fresh.

  • Get Internet explore and Microsoft Office version from own PC

    hi experts,
    Is it possible to find out which version Internet Explore and Microsoft Office you have installed in your computer within an ABAP Program?
    Is there a function module or a method to get out of these information from your computer?
    Alternative is using some Java or Visual basic codes witin an ABAP program: if yes, please provide some example codes.
    Best regards
    LN

    Nick & Manohar are right......This method is working.....I was just checking it out.....
    On your PC, Goto START->RUN->REGEDIT
    For MS Word
    Goto HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->Word.Document->CurVer
    You will get a default registry value of type  REG_SZ with value Word.Document.12
    The last two digits indicate the version of MS word installed (Refer Microsoft Support link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822005 )
    Word 2010 14.0
    Word 2007 12.0
    Word 2003 11.0
    Word 2002 10.0
    Word 2000   9.0
    For IE
    Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Software->Microsoft->Internet Explorer
    You will find a registry value of type  REG_SZ with the version no of the installed component.
    Now, in ABAP program call the method to get the current versions.....
    DATA: v_ver_word TYPE string,
          v_ver_ie   TYPE string.
    CALL METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>registry_get_value
      EXPORTING
        root      = cl_gui_frontend_services=>hkey_classes_root
        key       = 'Word.Document\CurVer'
      IMPORTING
        reg_value = v_ver_word.
    CALL METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>registry_get_value
      EXPORTING
        root      = cl_gui_frontend_services=>hkey_local_machine
        key       = 'SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer'
        value     = 'Version'
      IMPORTING
        reg_value = v_ver_ie.

  • I want replace my desktop with a iPad to do emails and Microsoft office work. Can this be effectively done? What's the downside if any?

    I want replace my desktop with a iPad to do emails and Microsoft office work. Can this be effectively done? What's the downside if any?

    I'll go down your list one by one.
    1. Access mail - which I know that the iPad can do.
    Enough said.
    2. Save an excel or word or ppt of PDF attachment for review.
    You can view these types of documents natively on the iPad as Tgara has mentioned.
    3. Open an review and maybe change a excel or word file.
    There are many apps that allow this.  I personally prefer Apples iWork programs, Pages, Numbers, Keynote.  They tightly integrate with iCloud.
    4. Resave such above files.
    With Pages, Number, Keynote you can save/resave files in iCloud and locally.  Also you could use dropbox to save your files on dropbox and provide a way for you to share a folder with coworkers/family and they can add/view/review files from there and you can see the changes on your device.
    5. Reply to a mail attaching a file.
    This is possible in many ways.  From dropbox, or another app you can email files with the share button.
    6. Be able to rename files and store them in specific folders.
    This goes back to dropbox/iCloud.  iOS doesn't really have a traditional file system.  If you save a PDF it isn't saved anywhere you can just open it.  You would have to open an app that supports view PDFs and select the PDF you wish to view.  The same goes for documents, spreadsheets and etc.
    Hopefully this helps answer your questions.

    Go to this microsoft site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312172 and/or this microsoft site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768.  I would suggest removing both to start with a clean slate.  I had some problems with installing Office for Mac 2011 over 2008 and found out that by completely removing both and starting from a clean slate provided the best solution.  Kappy is correct but some sniglets do get left behind.  Hope this helps.  Cheers.

  • Migrate  to  internet explorer 8  and microsoft office 2010

    Hi  Guru,
    We  want  to  migrate  to  internet explorer 8  and  microsoft office 2010 .
    Is it  compatible with  adobe interactive forms ?   did we install  a  new sap note ?
    o
    Thanks a lot
    Soufiene

    compatiblity of adobe interactive forms has no relation of which IE version, which MS office version you are using/migrating.
    it only concerned with which Adobe reader, Adobe Livecycle designer, ADS version you are using.
