Mavericks Network Printer Issues

I used Canon iR3225 previously without any issues until to get OS Mavericks. And tried few methods to overcome the printer problem using OS Mavericks. Finally i got my collegue recommends to install this mannner. Follow these steps may be you all can use the printer as it is, if you are in 10.9.x.
This steps is solved for to print Canon iR3225 using OS Mavericks 10.9.1.
1. Get the image from here http://tinyurl.com/o79rkba
(if the link didn't work just copy and paste into your browser)
2. install the driver.
3. Use this commands @ terminal & make sure the admin rights.
          sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
Key in the password while its asks.
4. open disk utility --> run disk repair permissions.
5. Delete the print list if you have previously.
6. Add printer option
7. Choose IP option, protocol LPD (Line Printer Daemon)
8. Select the Software which you installed
for my case i just type it ir3225
9. Add
10. Do test print for the printer which you added.
*Just for myself are wondered, why we may need to open the FTP ports and do the disk repair permissions for this installation.
That's it.
Thanks.

  • Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 network print issue after installing XP SP3

I administer a network of 30+ workstations, and since installing Acrobat 8.1.2 and Windows XP Service Pack 3, I've been experiencing odd behavior from the print function in the reader.
Staff can open a pdf document with no issues, but when they try to print to a network printer, nothing happens. I then in turn open wordpad on their workstation, do a "File, Print", and the print functions properly.
I then can go back to the reader, and the print job will work.
Nothing has changed on my network in regards to previous settings, with the exception of installing reader 8.1.2, and XP SP3.
    Any ideas, or potential solutions?

You are not alone. I hope you get some response. We have seen nor heard anything.
    See: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/?13@@.59b56569/6
Title: Adobe Reader v8.1.2 Compatible with Windows XP Pro SP3
One ray of hope is that it seems to be getting quicker. I don't know why but I'll take it!
When I go to this Windows XP link,
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsxp/default.mspx
it says I am running SP2 instead of saying I am running SP3, which is what my System Properties says is installed. Just something to think about and perhaps check.

  • Basic tiger server printing to network printer issues - HELP :)

Hi everyone, Im after some help as im running out of ideas, here is my basic setup: (sorry i have rambled on a bit
current 192.168.0.x network that has ADSL, PC's HP Laserjet 5Si network printer.
Connected to that is my Tiger server with 2 lan ports, one is connected to that network and the other connected to a switch where I run all my macs - the server is a basic file and software update server.
macs connected to the server get a 192.168.2.x address and can access the internet and each other etc - all is happy.
now - I had my personal macbook pro connected directly to the first network to access the printer, works fine and fairly quickly but was unable to access the server (i imagine because the server thinks i was from the big bad internet from the .0.x range
once i connected to the other network served by the mac server i could access all the files fine but printing would not work, so i thought I would have the server access the printer as it has access to both networks and just share it to the local macs.
well when i add it and put in the 192.168.0.71 address it connects and loads the GIMP HP5si driver, but when it tried to print it takes up to 5 mins to show that its finished, but only sometimes does the printer actually fire up, and the times it did it never printed the whole page...
The only thing i can think of is that the server is trying to print to the .0.x address'ed printer but using the .2.x address range, possibly confusing the systems.., im not too familiar with all the firewall/NAT settings ,i think i have everything turned off, but its still not working..
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated, im not sure what else to do.
    Thank you for your time

This sounds more like a protocol or a driver issue rather than an addressing issue. Which protocol is being used to connect to the printer? You mention the GIMP driver gets loaded, which I read that it's an automatic function rather than you having to manually browse to the driver.
Also, I would look at trying the Gutenprint drivers from Sourceforge rather than the included GIMP-Print.
The other thing would be to check the cups error log on the server. It could give some clues as to why the spool file is taking so long.

  • HP deskjet 3520 network print issues

Getting towards the end of my rope.  I have an HP deskjet 3520 with wireless print capability from the network and have successfully been able to send jobs to the printer to print for the last 11 months.  It can no longer print jobs from the network despite having an IP address and being visible by all machines connected to the network.
Each time I try to send a document to be printed.
I do not have MAC address filtering enabled on the router.  I've updated the firmware via USB connection and re-installed the drivers and software to no effect.  I've power-cycled the device, restarted the computer(s) that would print via the network to the printer, etc.  I've done everything that I know how to get network printing fixed with no success.
I've also run the print doctor 4.5 program which can find the printer on the network, but then gets no response from the device when trying to access it.
Has anyone else had a similar problem with this model?  Any ideas as to what can be done to get it to start printing documents that get sent to it form the network?  I've been directed to this forum off web searches, but there are a lot of responses with links in them that have ether been relocated to a different web address, or have been deleted.
    Any help is greatly apprectiated.
    Thank you for your time.

    Hey @Tom801,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like assist you today with resolving the network communication issues you're experiencing with your HP Deskjet 3520 e-All-in-One Printer. As I understand, you are able to 'see' the printer through the Print and Scan Doctor and from the other computers on your network. But, you are not able to print to the Deskjet. I have a few troubleshooting suggestions to start with.
    Gather the IP Address:
    1. Select the Wireless Button on the front panel of your printer.
    2. Your IP address should now display, please note down what this is.
    Open the EWS Browser:
    1. On one of the computers that you would normally use with this printer, open your Internet Browser.
    2. In the website address bar at the top of the page type in your IP address (do not include www.)
    3. Select enter on your keyboard to search for the printer Embedded Web Server.
Does a website open for your printer?
If the printers website opens than that proves that the printer is in fact still connected and communicating with your wireless network. If the website fails to open than the printer is being blocked from the network.
You noted in your post that you have Mac Filtering disabled, updated the firmware for the printer, and powercycled the printer and computer. Did you ever powercycle the router? If not, can I please have you do that now.
How to Properly Powercycle your Network:
    1. First, unplug your routers power cable
    2. Power off your printer
    3. Power off your computer
    4. After 30 seconds to 1 minute plug in your router
    5. Turn on your printer
    6. Turn on your computer
Once the network connection is re-established on your computer and printer please check your IP address once again on the printer using the steps I provided above.
Can you open the printer website now with the IP Address?
If yes, than it seems like your router had blocked communication to the printer. To avoid this in the future you can:
    Open the Router Ports:
    - Incoming (UDP) Ports:
    137, 138, 161, 427
    - Outgoing (TCP) Ports:
    137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500
Also, you can refer to the steps within Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection for additional configuration options. Focus on Solution two for assigning a static IP.
Please let me know if the steps provided resolve you issue. Good luck!

  • HP 1200 Network Printing issue

I am a Mac user on a Windows Network. We have an HP 1200 that I have always been able to print to on the network. Our Tech guy upgraded the network this summer and now the HP 1200 doesn't show up when I run Printer Set Up Utility. What do I need to tell the Tech guy to do to get the printer to show up?

My guess is that it is no longer shared out the way it used to be. Since it is not (it has a USB and paralel connection, but no ethernet connection) a true network printer, you'd really need ask him what he changed about the way it was shared out, and then report back if you two can't figure it out from there. It could have been accessible a few different ways, so folks here could only guess what has changed.

  • Network printer issue - User can't print once logged back in. Windows 7

    Hello
I have a bit of a mystery. We have a networked printer which everyone can printer to a part from one user.  When you try printing from any application the "print" gets sent then nothing, not even in the print queue.
However in the same office everyone else can print.
    I have tried the following.
Made sure the printer is set to default.
Sign in as Admin - I can print
    Other users - Can print
Removed the device in the users profile re-added the device user can print.
But when the user logs out and logs back in they can't print.
Restarted print spooler. - No luck.
No errors and printer always showing online.
    Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.
    Windows 7 machine
    Thank you
    Adam

    1. Have you used the printui.exe tool to remove the print drivers? 2. If you sign the user to other machine can he print there? 3. Have you tried to recreate the user profile on that machine?

  • Network Printing Issues

I have the HP Color LaserJet CP4525 printer and it is giving me issues when it comes to printing because when I try to print a document on Microsoft Word it says there's no connection or the printer is out of toner, which is true but only for the color toners, the black toner is always full because it's the only one we need. What I've done to deal with this problem is that I unistall the printer from the "View devices and printers" window and then I re-install its drivers from the Network window by right-clicking on the printer's icon and clicking on Install, it then looks for an update on Windows Update and proceeds to install the driver. After it's finished, I'm once again able to print normally on the computer I just re'installed the driver, but for some reason the next day, or when the computer restarts and I try to print something, the same problem occurs and I must do all the previous hassel again.
I'm starting to feel frustrated because when someone needs to print something they're always yelling my name because they're not able to if I don't do all that re-installing and time-wasting procedure again. I was thinking on resetting the printer to Factory Settings and hope it  works well again, but I'll wait and see if anyone on here can help me out. So please help me on this and guide me on what I must do.

The publishing of the printers from the PC can be impacted by the account you are using to connect to the other computer. If the PC is XP SP2 then either enable the guest account (which isn't that safe) or create an account with a password for the Mac to use when connecting to the PC. Then when you browse the Network Neighborhood and select the PC, you will be prompted to enter these account details you have just created for the Mac on the PC. After this you should see all the printers that have been shared in your list. The issue then is using a driver that is capable of working across the network. Most of the new drivers for the 'toy' printers cannot function across a network. Therefore you have to use either one of the provided GIMP-print drivers that are included with OS X or find an alternate driver from applications like PrintFab. If you can tell us which model of printer you want to print to (and maybe the other models also in case they are a better option) then one of us can suggest what may be the best alternative (if needed).

  • Network Printing issues with HP DeskJet 3054A

Basically I'm not able to get past the wireless setup - I get the unable to find  printer error.  I've tried to set it up with and without the USB cable. I was able to print using the USB cable, but not wirelessly.  I used the WPS option to connect my printer to my network, both by pushing the button, and by entering the PIN.
Ok here goes for system config...I have a ActiontecM1000 DSL modem that is connected to a netgear WNDR3400 router. From this router, I have a desktop running Windows XP connected directly.  I have several other devices connected wirelessly to the router, including a macbook pro running the most recent version of OS which was not able to connect to the printer wirelessly (just bought it last month with the Deskjet pronter).  I am currently using WPA2-PSK [AES] security without MAC filtering.
On my router screen, when I click on "Attached Devices", I am able to see the printer, and it is assigned an IP address.  Most of the documentation says to type this IP address into your web browser, but whenever I do this, I am unable to access the printer (so for whatever reason, I'm unable to communicate to this device.  I currently have my desktop, macbook, 2 work laptops, an IPad, and 2 Iphones that are able to connect thru this router, so I don't think my router is malfunctioning, although it could be some weird printer setting that needs to be done...
Some other info which people may find useful - the print out of the HP Network config page shows that there is connection, the correct SSID, signal quality 5, the same IP address as shown on my router config page, as well as the correct authentication type - actually it says WPA-PSK vs WPA2-PSK.  It also says port 9100 is enabled, and bonjour is also enabled.
The print out of the wireless network test results shows that the wireless on/working is pass, signal quality is excellent, and no other networks detected mating your network name.  I will say that after 4 hours of trying this, I had a view choice words when I saw at the top of this sheet "No problems found.  Congratulations on the successful setup of your wireless printer."
I'm running AVG, and have attempted to disable this in the off chance that this is a firewall issue of some kind.
I've also powered off the router, the printer, and the computer to try and resync everything.
I have downloaded the "Troubleshoot HP installation failure - network" application and have attempted all 7 solutions, and have not been able to resolve the problem.
    Any assistance would be great!

Currently my actiontec M1000 does not have the wireless module (in the qwest modem configuration, it says "no wireless module detected" - when I first got the modem I called qwest to confirm the dsl modem has no wireless capability,  which is when I ended up getting the Netgear router.
Is there a point where I can get warranty service for the printer?  I'm beginning to wonder if there's just something wrong with the printer itself...

  • Sudden networked printer issues cropping up.

Thai has been happening recently for several network users connected to network printers via static IP setup.  When someone sends something to the printer , it doesn’t automatically print.  Either we have to open the side tray and add paper or press the “OK” button a couple of times to get it print from Tray 2 in the bottom.  I have had had to go into Properties—Paper/Quality and select Tray 2.  For some reason its default changed (all was fine until recently).  Defaults wont stick.

Crud. Unfortunately I don't know too much about the print servers other than they're all or mostly Windows based. All these printers are connected through Ethernet, and need Windows Domain credentials to access (in Windows, you're normally just prompted).
One model is a Laser 8150dn (I think), which is one I have successfully set up by printing directly to it and bypassing the print server.
Another model is a Laserjet 4050 (on a different server, with the same issues), one's a Sharp copier of some sort (that also functions as a printer)-I think that's one that I CAN'T print to directly unfortunately, and I do use that to run off a bunch of printouts at once).
There's also a...shoot...Color Laserjet 4700 I think. It's Ethernet port is dead so it's hooked up directly through parallel to a regular XP Pro machine, just using normal sharing-I haven't been able to connect to it, though it was giving me somewhat different error messages than the rest (it at least prompted me for my credentials, which it wouldn't accept).
I was also planning on sharing an HP Desktop soon off of a regular Windows box, but now I'm wondering if my Macbook wouldn't be able to print to it if it's shared.

  • Multiple computers network printing issues

    Hi All,
I am hoping someone can help.
I have 8 x 2.4 ghz 24" Imacs operating 10.4.11 networked via ethernet to two printers, (Canon ipf5000 and Canon ipf6100). The Imacs are wired through Cisco switches to the printers. When sending from Adobe CS4 I use a specific Canon printing plugin for the printers mentioned. When I have multiple print drivers running, (or even open and not active), the printer driver can't handle it. The various drivers seem to affect each other causing miscues galore. Will a true print server clear this up?
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    phil

    Hi j_dext,
I understand the printer is setup on the network and working on the one computer but the other one isn't recognizing the printer.
I will be happy to help you.
Print a configuration page to get the printer's IP address.
Printing Information Pages. Go to the section M1210 / M1218nfs series to print it from the control panel.
If you have a valid IP address for the printer then try and access the embedded web server for the printer.
Type the IP address into Internet Explorer address bar.
If it loads the printer's network page then the printer is on the network.
Power cycle the computer and router.
Make sure the computer is on the proper network.
Find out what the computers IP address is.
Hold down the Windows key on the keyboard and the letter R.
Then type "cmd", then type "ipconfig".
    Check the computers IPv4 address.
The first 3 sets of numbers should match the first 3 sets of numbers on the printers IP address to be on the same network.
Do the first 3 sets of numbers match the printer's IP address?
    Try and ping the printer.
In the same window type ping IP address of printer. (space in between ping and the IP)
Do you get any replies back?
Then run the installation again if everything is recognized and you get a reply back.

  • Network Printing Issue

I have a Canon Pixma MP780 networked from a Windows XP system. I can see and add the printer from my IMAC. When I try to print to the printer the print queue shows that it completed however nothing ever prints. I can find nothing that details this issue. To further complicate things I have downloaded the drivers from the Canon website but the printer still does not show up as an available Canon printer when I try to configure the printer.
    Very frustrated...please help.

The Canon driver cannot be used when you are sharing the printer from Windows. You can only use it for direct USB connections to the Mac or when connected to an Airport base station.
What you need is the Gutenprint drivers available from Sourceforge. Version 5.1.3 inlcudes the MP780 as a supported device. After installing this software, you will see the Canon PIXMA MP780 - CUPS + Gutenprint v5.1.3 in the Print Using menu.

  • OSX 10.6.2 Network Printing Issues - Fiery, Canon & Xerox

I have tried to find info as to install our networked printers, mostly using Fiery Rips to no avail. EFI has some info, but tried that and it didn't seem to work. Is there any source I am missing? These of course are printers that are a couple of years old.

    Hello Eugene,
There are several limitations with the current EFI driver on SL. Most of these have a workaround, enough to get you printing.
The first issue is with the printer driver installation. If your model of RIP has a Universal Binary driver available, then you need to install this driver. You cannot install the PPC driver.
Canon has a number of UB drivers available for the imagePASS series. Check their web site in your region for the updated driver (which was originally released for the Intel-based Mac's). Note that these drivers may also be called MacTel. If you are not sure which models of Canon/EFI RIPs you have, then reply with the models of Canon device they are connected to.
For the Xerox/Fiery's, you may have to check the EFI web site for UB drivers.
With the UB downloaded, the next thing to have on your SL Mac is Rosetta. The EFI drivers require this to install. If your Mac has an Internet connection, SL can obtain Rosetta for you. If you don't have an active Internet connection, then you can install Rosetta via the Optional Installs package on the SL DVD.
The third item is with permissions on the plugin 'fierycupsfilter'. This is more likely to occur if you had the Fiery driver installed on Leopard and then upgraded to Snow Leopard. The symptom is after you have added the printer and then attempt to print, the message appears "The printer software was installed in correctly. Please reinstall the printer's software or contact the manufacturer for assistance." If this occurs, you can download a patch from EFI that resolves the error.
    http://services.efi.com/support/drivers/download2.asp?oem=efi&sys=Applemac_osx106&ver=NA
Okay, now that you have the permissions repaired, the next issue is with the Fiery plugins, like Fiery Job Notes, having a line through them in the print dialog. This occurs when using 64bit applications, like Preview and Safari. 32bit applications will not show the same symptom. The workaround is to close the application, locate it in Finder, do a Get Info and set the application to "Open in 32bit mode". Close the Get Info window, open the application and try printing again. The Fiery plugins should now be available without lines through them.
That's about all I have on the drivers. Like I said, the issues have workarounds so as long as you can get access to a UB driver for the RIP, then you will be able to print until EFI releases SL drivers, which they have started doing for their larger models of standalone RIPs.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Annoying Network Printer Issue

Hi guys! So I have this really annoying issue at work, and all of us admin are pretty upset that none of us can figure this problem out! We work at a military base and we manage the local network here, among with all the other computer. But here is our issue. Every morning that we come into work, there is always papers on our printer. Someone continues to print to our printer and we cannot figure out who! Is there any way to check on the print server and see exactly what computer is printing to our printer? We have gone around from office to office and asked if someone printed out certain documents, but I believe some of the guys are just lying when they say no! All we need is a method to figure out exactly which computer keeps printing to our printer. The event logs on the server only show the time and document name, but no computer name :/ We do have the option to remove the share from our printer, but we do not really want to do that. Help please! By the way, our printe is a HP Laserjet 4250dn

If you have the printer on a print server, then on the driver on the server look for what is called a banner page.  Activate it so each job that comes to the printer will have a banner page telling you what computer belongs to each job.  I would just activate it at night before I leave to see if there is a print job in the morning and know which computer sent it and then turn it off so you do not waste paper during the day.  This will not work if people have the printer loaded as a local tcp/ip printer on any of the computers.

  • Wireless Network Printing Issue

    Hi there,
I use an Airport Express to put a wireless arm onto our offices mac-only network. Everything was a-ok but, over the weekend, the express seems to have reset itself it changing its name back to 'Apple Network 43124'
I reconfigured and everything seems to be working fine - internet, mail, network connections from machine to machine - BUT the printers have disappeared. No one on wireless can see them despite the fact that colleagues connected to the network via ethernet can see and print just fine.
    Any thoughts?
Airport Express is firmware 6.3 and the various computer on the network are 10.3.9 or higher
    Thanks in advance
    Ben

    Sorted.
All I had to do was turn off 'Distribute IP address' on the network bit of the Airport Admin'
