Max of values in drop-down-box

Anyone know how many velues can be coped by drop-down box? Somewhere I read it can cope with 500 values. Is that right? Or it can cope more?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sanjaya,
I think it's not important if a dropdown can cope more than 500 values, because this wouldn't be user friendly. In that case you should use a value help.

Marcel

  • How to Change a Default Value from Drop Down Box displayed in Web Dynpro?

    Hi,
    How to Change a Default Value from 'High' to 'Low'  in a Drop Down Box for RANGE field displayed in Standard Web Dynpro Component.  I saw a Default Value set for a RANGE field  in View Context When I select that field and click on Display. I am seeing Default Value set it to 'HI'. Please let me know how to change from HIgh to Low.
    I appreciate your help!
    Thanks,
    Monica

    hi,
    use the set_attribute( ) method now to set the attribute with a particular key eg HIGH in ur case
    // u can use the code wizard( control +f7) this code will be auto generated when u select the
    //radio button to read the context node
    DATA lo_nd_cn_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
      DATA lo_el_cn_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
      DATA ls_cn_node TYPE wd_this->element_cn_node.
    * navigate from <CONTEXT> to <CN_NODE> via lead selection
      lo_nd_cn_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_cn_node ).
    * get element via lead selection
      lo_el_cn_node = lo_nd_cn_node->get_element(  ).
    * set single attribute
      lo_el_cn_node->set_attribute(
          name =  `ATTribute name.`
          value = 'LOW' ).
    it will solve ur query ..
    also refer to this component
    wdr_test_events -> view dropdownbyidx and dropdownbykey ->method name onactionselect.

  • Changing Values of Drop Down Box??

    I have created a form that has 100 drop down boxes, each drop down box has the same values for the user to choose. I would like to know if it is possible to remove the selected value from the remaining drop downs once it has been selected?
    Example:
    Drop Down Box 1: user selects "A" when the user moves to Drop Down Box 2 "A" is not available for selection but the remaining values are. User Selects "B", moves to Drop Down 3 and both "A and B" are not available for selection.
    I hope this makes sense and can't figure out how to make this happen, I am a fairly new user to LC and would appreciate any help. Thank you for your time!!

    Hi,
    While technically you can do this, I think that it would be a poor performance because the script would need to loop through the 100 dropdowns.
    You would need to place script in the preOpen event of the dropdowns, that loops through and looks at previous selections.
    I worked this up over the weekend, but it is not 100%. http://assure.ly/KXAUg5.
    The script in the preOpen event calls a function in the AssureDynamics script object (see the Hierarchy).
    Hopefully someone can pick up the running on this, as I wont be able to for the week.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • Drop Down Boxes not Populating on the SCM business package through EP7

    Hi ,
           All would greatly appreciate if any of you out there has experinced this problem
    We are using the Enterprise Portal which has recently configured using https or SSL. we are using the Business package SCM 5.0.
    When we use the SCM system directly and we go to any iViews we have all the drop down boxes work perfectly well . If the user selects the Value help (drop down boxes) they all show the value and then the selected value populates back to main screen. However, using the Enterprise Portal if the User goes to the SCM business Package iView the value help shows up all the value, but the value that is selected does not populate back to main screen.
    Now again if we use http as opposed to https we do not have any issue.
    Thanks . Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.

    I don't have a clue, but figured I might make a suggestion. Did you touch and hold the pick box? Hope that works for ya.

  • How to get ALL values as default for  a drop down box in JSF

    Hi,
    I have a drop down box in JSF page which retrieves values from LOVCache.java. I have values like Company, Client, User, ALL in the drop down box.
    By default blank value is selected for the drop down box. I want to make ALL(which retrieves data for all the values) as default value for the drop down box.
    Could any body help me? Any help must be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Aseet

    Thanks Nikhil. But I am fetching the values from the LOVCache.java.
    I am using <af:selectManyChoice>. Is there any way I can use LOVCache.java value for selecting default values instead of hard coding?
    I mean to say can I write
    unselectedLabel="#{LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList.anyValue}"
    where LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList is used to populate the drop down box.

  • How to get values from a multiple drop-down box.

    On my first page, I have a multiple drop-down box as the following code.
    <select name="selInterMethod" class="textbox" multiple>
    <option selected value="CH">Chicago</option>
    <option value="NY">New York</option>
    <option value="SF">San Francisco</option>
    </select>
    On my second transaction page, I need to save "CH-NY" into my Database column: city if the user selected Chicago and New York.
    How can I accomplish this in JSP?
    Thanks for your help.

    I figured out the solution. Here it is. FYI
    String inter_method = "";
    String Inter_Method[]=request.getParameterValues("selInterMethod");
         if( Inter_Method.length > 0 ) {
              for (int i = 0; i < Inter_Method.length; i++) {
                   inter_method = inter_method + '-' +Inter_Method;
              inter_method = inter_method.substring(1,inter_method.length());
              System.out.println("trx inter_method = " + inter_method);

  • How to get th selected value of a Drop Down Box

    hi,
    i have a drop down box with two items. each item contains a text and a value.
    i tried to get the actual value of a dropdown box but i get the value of the first item.
    in the change event of a dropdown box i entered the following code:
    app.alert(this.boundItem("text of an item"));
    this messagebox shows everytime the value of fist item in my drop down box.
    any idea?
    thanks

    Make sure you use xfa.event.change to get the correct value from the change event on the drop-down listbox
    I have the following
    xfa.host.messageBox("Data Value is " + this.boundItem(xfa.event.change));
    on the change event (javascript) of a dropdown list box and it returns me the correct value

  • How can we get a value in a drop down box without refreshing the page

    In my application i am having 14 drop down boxes. On selcting a particular value in a drop down box i am doing its corresponding functionality. I would like to get these values without refreshing the page each and every time i select a text box, Is it possible to get these values without refreshing the page each and every time.
    Raghu

    There is a new hype going on called AJAX. It is either that, or dumping a lot of information in javascript arrays and reading the information from there when you make selections. I would choose AJAX.

    i think normally u will get data from databsae as objects.they are like java beans having getter and setter methods.so you create a collection of those objects like collect all the objects coming from database into an arraylist or....
    suppose you want to populate the dropdown box with say "username" from database object s, your code will look like that
    <html:select property="name">
    <html:options collection="databaseList" property="username" />
    </html:select>
    "databaseList" is collection(say.. ArrayList) of objects you are getting from database.this dropdown will contain all the "usernames" you are getting from database.

  • How to create a drop down box values on design time?

    Hello,
    I have a drop down box that I would like to edit on design time to have the valus 1 to 10.
    Is it possible to doo it on design it or do I have to create a loop in the code to do that?

    See go to LocalDictionary->Data Type-> SimpleType Right Click and create a Simple Type giving some Package Name
    Once u have created
    There u will see Enumeration Tab and give Key Value Pairs by pressing New Button
    Now Create a Context Attr and at Type property select that three dots
    Then go to Dictionary Simple Type and select the Package u have given
    then select the Simple type u have created
    Then assign the context Attr to the UI Element

  • Getting the value from a Drop Down Box

    I'm working on a database project to keep track of our Blackberrys. The problem I'm having is entering the values for two drop down boxes. The page I'm working on enters the FirstName, LastName, Department, and Location. Department and Location have thier own Primary Keys and are foreign keys in the Person table. Departments and Locations are aligned by numbers like 1 = Ohio, 2 = Chicago. They
    don't automatically increase. The problem I'm having is entering them as a foreign key in the Person Table. I'm not sure if I use a getValue or getSelected or some other code to get the values to populate in the Person Table. I just keep getting a can't add department or location to table.
    public String newUser_action() {
    // TODO: Process the button click action. Return value is a navigation
    // case name where null will return to the same page.
    if (personDataProvider.canAppendRow()) {
    try {
    RowKey rowKey =
    personDataProvider.appendRow();
    personDataProvider.setValue(
    "DBO.PERSON.FIRSTNAME", rowKey,
    firstName.getText());
    personDataProvider.setValue(
    "DBO.PERSON.LASTNAME", rowKey,
    lastName.getText());
    personDataProvider.setValue(
    "DBO.PERSON.DEPTID", rowKey,
    department.getSelected());
    personDataProvider.setValue(
    "DBO.PERSON.LOCATIONID", rowKey,
    location.getSelected());
    personDataProvider.setValue(
    "DBO.PERSON.BEGINDATE", rowKey,
    newDate.getText());
    //personDataProvider.setValue(
    "DBO.PERSONDEVICE.AQUIREDATE", rowKey,
    newDate.getText());
    personDataProvider.commitChanges();
    info("New User " + newUser.getText() +
    " added to USER table");
    newUser.setText(null);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    log("Cannot add new User ", e);
    error("Cannot add new User: " +
    e.getMessage());
    } else {
    log("Cannot append new User");
    error("Cannot append new User");
    return null;
    }

  • How to make choices in a drop down box change a value in another box

    Hi,  I am fairly new to the world of creating forms in Adobe so please bear with my question if it seems simple.  I have seen where a lot of people are using code and I am very confused.  I am creating an order form and have created a drop down box (combo box).  There are 4 choices in this drop down box.  When the user chooses one of these choices, I would like an amount to appear in a seperate box.  Each choice would have a different amount.  Is this possible?  If so, could someone please give me step by step instructions.  I appreciate any help given!!

    Yes, the best way would be to set your 'Amount' value into the 'Export Value' for each item in the combobox. Then, you can set the calculation for your text field to the following (Be sure to change "ComboBox1" to the name of your combobox):
    var f = this.getField("ComboBox1");
        var a = f.currentValueIndices;
        var s
        if (typeof a == "number") {// a single selection
            s = (f.value);
    event.value =  s
