Maximum frame bytes in 15 fps Flash 8 movie

I have a Flash 8 movie, with several motion tweens that take
the average frame size from 200 bytes up to 1000 at about halfway
thru my movie. What is the max acceptable when designing movies at
15 fps? And is there a way around this that won't cause delays in
downloading?
thanks.

I'm soprry, I should have been more explicit. I am importing
to Flash 8, but
I have to publish as Flash 6 so it's not flv files I am
creating, so thus
not dynamically loaded flv. These files are being presented
inside an
Authorware file so Flash 6 is a must ... I cannot use the
Flash AX control,
I have to use the internal Flash suppor provided by
Authorware.

No, compression is less of an issue for me ... I have a
handle on that black
art. It's just the reconciliation of multiple frame rates I
need to get to
the bottom of :-)

  • Want frame rate of 30 fps

I create animations at 30 fps. When I put them in FCE HD the last frame is left out or black. I need to set the frame rate to 30 fps instead of the default 29.97 or maybe use non-drop fame setting. I am not sure which will work. How do I reset the frame rate to 30 or non-drop? Using Tiger on a G5.

    Gary,
Drop or non-drop frame affects timecode only not the actual framerate or number of frames.
I've had a quick play at this and can't re-create the problem. I've tried with a 30fps interlaced and a 30fps progressive clip.
What are you dong with your animations after working in FCE? If you are outputting to video or DVD you are going to need to work with PAL or NTSC framerates anyway.
If you are just using FCE to edit your animations and then saving to Quicktime, etc perhaps you could try the 720p30 HDV setting. Although I don't know if the 30 really means 30fps or whether it's the same deal as NTSC (i.e. 29.97)
Or prep your material for FCE. Use Quicktime Pro to output your animations to 29.97fps. If they are progressive maybe making them interlaced might help.
Since you can't do a lot to the set-ups in FCE you're best altering your animations to suit.

Hi. Please can anyone show me how to install a flash document / movie into a powerpoint presentation so that the animation plays within the powerpoint? Thanks

wouldn't it make more sense that a flashtard is someone who
just generally sucks at flash and asks idiotic questions?
anyway, so i pretty much got the banner done - but i'm stuck
on one problem. I made a motion clip of a heart, and i want the
heart to fall from top to bottom, following a squiggly motion
guide, and to rotate 1/4 turn on the way. I got it as far as
following the motion guide, but when i try to select the instance
in the first frame and rotate it, shouldn't the motion tween make
it appear to slowly rotate, rather than stay put then rotate 1/4
turn at the last frame? When I select the clip and play around with
alpha and stuff, that works fine. What the heck?

  • Flash CS4- Movie clips suddenly invisible on stage? (Same file OK on other comps/CS5)

Flash CS4 had been working regularly on my Macbook Pro (Intel - Tiger) for a while, and then suddenly, I opened a file and all the movie clips went from being visible "stills" to invisible and represented only by an "o". I have tried settings, preferences, even uninstall/reinstall, but somehow my settings or something got messed up and I can't view movie clips on the stage.
I have tried a variety of different .fla files and none allow movie clips to be visible on the stage. The files were created in CS4.
This is true for movie clips that have 1 frame to many frames.
When I Publish or Test Movie, the clip is visible and normal, but it is impossible to edit the file without being able to see the movie clips.
I know that the issue is with my installation of Flash/settings being messed up, not with the file(s) because when opened on other computers (CS4 and CS5), movie clips are visible on the stage, as they should be.
Example below: In Flash CS4, the stage just has "o"s where I used to be able to see my movie clip, but in the Test Movie, everything is there. To be clear, I could see the movie clips in this exact file, and then the next time I opened it I could no longer see them.
I am hoping there is an obvious solution that I have overlooked. Help is appreciated in designer-friendly (non-developer) terms.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Can you please try a few things for me? This will help us narrow down the issue.
Test 1: Switch from ActionScript 3.0 to ActionScript 2.0.
    1. Open up the file where you see the "o" instead of your movieclips.
    2. Go to File > Publish Settings.
    3. Switch player target to ActionScript 2.0.
** Did your movieclips reappear or is it still showing "o"?
Test 2: Delete user configuration folder and recreate preferences files.
    1. Quit Flash if it is running.
    2. Delete the following 6 files:
    Volume/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/FlashCS4
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Flash CS4 Preferences
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Flash 10 MRU
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.flsh-10.0.plist
    /User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS4/
    /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/FlashAuthor.cfg
    3. Relaunch Flash and these files will be recreated.
** Did this solve your issue?
    Please let me know. Thanks!

  • Flash Completion Movie Not Even Loading!

I, have recently not been able to access videos which,
require a movie player. I suppose it is out of date so I have been
trying to install the newest Flash Player and it doesn't even show
a flash completion Movie, and I have set there for over 10 minutes
waiting for the movie too come up..... I do not know if it is
finished or what, the loading bar movie thing dissapeared then the
whole movie window on the browser shrinks to really nothing, and no
movie is playing at all.... so what am I doing wrong? Please
    help.

Actually, I just visited the web page you identified in the initial posting and while my initial view of it did not show a Flash file, including right clicking the area, after distracting myself by looking at the page's source code, I went back to the browser window and I am now seeing a preloader screen that appears to be stuck on "Loading 0% of 0" and if I right click it now I get the expected Flash file menu.  So I'd say your Flash file has some issues.

  • Using Flach CS4 and action script 2.0 how do I advance to a specific frame of the main timeline when a movie clip instance come to the end of its timeline?

Using Flach CS4 and action script 2.0 how do I advance to a specific frame of the main timeline when a movie clip instance come to the end of its timeline?

code on the last frame of your movieclip instance:
_root.gotoAndStop('whatever_frame');  // will work unless this swf is loaded into another swf.  in that situation, you should use a relative path to the main timeline (eg,  _parent or _parent._parent etc).

  • How to change the maximum frame rate of the camera by changing the image size?

I have two  acA2040-180km cameras which are connected to 2 NI PCIe-1433 framegrabbers, I am monitoring my cameras by LabView, maximum allowable frame rate is about 187 for full resolution images, but I just need a small fraction of the images, I know if I make the images smaller, FPS will get higher, but it isn't possible by changing the image size in NI MAX, I've also tried to change the size by defining the region of interest in the grab setup.vi, but it would be after going to camera so it isn't the case as well, so I need a VI to go to the camera before starting to take photo and define the region of interest which is going to be captured, would you please help me to find it?
Please help me, this problem get me stuck!!!

Have you tried changing the image size using property nodes as Bruce suggested? Do remember with Basler cameras, reducing the width only will not affect the transfer speed but the reducing the height will. Have a look at the frame calculator to understand what you frame rates you can acheive with certain settings:

So you seem to correctly understand the information in the linked Use More Light! article.
studiojl wrote:... I don't like that at all...
Your emotion is irrelevant.  It simply works the way Apple software is written.  Perhaps some other computer system works different from Mac OS X and Apple camera apps?
If you intend to keep using Mac, you can take manual control of some camera parameters by using a third party add-on app such as iGlasses, Webcam Settings, or Sight Control.
studiojl wrote: ... what frame rate does it pick if I import one 30 FPS clip and one 60 FPS clip?
Whatever frame rate is set by the program of the software application you are using to record those clips.
You can determine that frame rate by making short test videos and watching it in QT Player.
The QT "Inspector" window will show you the frame rate for the clip.

  • J2me maximum response bytes size (http)

    Hi,
i am developing a end to end application using j2me and servlets.
iam getting the response as xml from the servlet and parsing it in my j2me client.
i am getting error- if the total bytes return from the server exceeds..2000bytes.
is there any maximum incoming and outgoing messages bytes size for the j2me applications.iam connecting to the server thru http.
    thanks,
    RP

There is no official maximum, but some devices or networks may impose a maximum. In working with the Nokia 7210, for example, I found that large responses would either return an error from the WAP gateway or would cause intermittent IOExceptions on the phone. I ended up limiting the response size to 30000 bytes for the Nokia 7210.
With most devices, there is no maximum response size.
I have encountered a WAP gateway that required the response to a Nokia 6310i to be less than 2800 bytes, but I don't think a gateway like this would be encountered much by real users since it essentially kills over-the-air provisioning.
If you're getting an error with the J2ME Wireless Toolkit or a device that doesn't limit the response size, then it's probably a bug in your code. I frequently see developers fail to realize that InputStream.read(byte[] b) may return before reading b.length bytes; an error like this would result in the symptoms you're seeing.

  • Can I tell Premiere NOT to drop frames for 25fps 24 fps?

I've got some 25 fps clips (which have undergone PAL speedup from the original 24 fps), excerpts from which are in a 24 fps sequence.  I want to tell Premiere to forget about dropping one frame each second (which is what it does to conform 25 fps to 24 fps) and instead to play the video at 24 fps. Reinterpreting the footage to 24 fps is of no use because the in/out points are then not in the right place.
So, given a 25 fps clip sent to a 24 fps timeline with lots of in/out points, can I tell Premiere to keep the in/out points exactly where they are, and to not drop frames?

Thanks for the responses. I have found a workaround for the problem, a problem which came about because I didn't reinterpret PAL video (from film that was originally 24 fps) to 24 fps before I started editing. I'm extracting interesting segments from old newsreels back to the 1930s, and since I had already edited several hundred segments, I coiuldn't face repeating the process. What follows is mostly for my benefit in case I ever had to do it again (forums are a good place to archive info), but it may be of interest to others.
PAL > 24 fps (how it should be done)
Pal video which has been digitised from 24 fps film (and hence undergone PAL speedup of 25/25), if it is then imported into a Premiere 24 fps sequence will have jerky video at the top and bottom because one of the interlaced fields will be dropped every 0.5 second with the result that the line at the top, bottom, or both will jump up and down. To stop this happening, reinterpret the video to 24 fps before editing in a timeline. This slows the video down to its correct fps (expands the time).
Slowing the edited video if NOT reinterpreted first
It is possible to correct the problem after setting up a sequence (if the clip was not reinterpreted to 24 fps) by changing the Speed/Duration to 96% (ctrl-click the clip in the Sequence timeline). This slows down the video/audio to the correct speed and also stops Premiere from trying to conform as described in the previous paragraph. However, these additional steps have to be taken:
Before changing the speed, video and audio clips that abut each other have to be separated to allow for the time expansion. After the expansion, move them back into place. If this is not done, video and audio at the juncture will overlap with loss of video and audio.
The expansion may cause an extra frame of video to appear at the start of a clip. This has to be checked for and removed.
Titles will not appear in the correct position. These also have to be moved manually.
