Maximum number of records displayed on the browser using Query Designer.

When you display a query on the web using Query Designer is there a maximum limit of how many records (rows) it can display? For example, can it handle 25 million records?
Thanks.

Hi Sebastian,
I still find such a requirement weird as one cannot definitely go thru' so much of data at a time - it would thus always make sense to perhaps filter on some criteria which would make analysis & perhaps even download much faster. The limit as I understand is approx 750,000 data cells. Maybe the below link & SAP notes can help validate
Limitation in No. Of data cells displayed in BEx Analyzer

  • Number of records displayed in the lookup field on webconsole dont change

    Hi All,
    Issue here is-
    When I select a report or process form to select a value for anything and click on the magnifying
    glass (lookup field) in web console, should get all the resources in the page that pops up.
    For now it only displays 10 records per page. I see all the lookups displaying 10 records when clicked on the magnifying glass icon.
    The property ‘global.displayRecordNum.value’ in the xlDefaultAdmin.properties file is set to
    20. So, all other pages display 20 records but all lookup pages on web console
    show only 10 records per page.
    Now the businees users want that the lookup page should display 20 records per page like other pages.
    For recreating the problem you can follow the steps:-
    Operational Reports -> Click on Attestation Process Name magnifying glass-> the page that pops up should display all the resources on one page instead of displaying 10 per page.
    Anyone has any idea on this if it is possible to change it thorugh an attribute in xlDefaultAdmin.properties or something else ?
    Thanks.

    You may add "and rownum < ..." to the default where clause.
    But that will not change the layout of the block. E.g. if you have a 10 record block where you want to display only 3 records, you will see 7 empty records.
    Also, this is not a good idea if you are using record ordering.

  • Rows Per Page doesn't affect the number of records displayed

    I just updated from 3.2 to 4.0 this morning. When I change the Rows Per Page value in the action menu the report doesn't change and the number of records displayed stays at 10. The report has ~6000 records. I edited the report attributes and add the rows selector to the IR search bar. This doesn't change the behavior either. I noticed that if I change the rows per page in the action menu then the drop down select list is updated, but the report still doesn't change from 10. I tried paging to the next set of results and it still remains at 10.
    Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Tony

    Yes, Tony, I've seen this in several versions of APEX. In most cases, simply starting a new session was enough to force APEX to refresh the page and grab the new set of pagination directives. If that doesn't work, please give more info like: what type of report you are doing and what the Pagination values are. Please note the following:
    Report Template
    Pagination Scheme
    Enable Partial Page Refresh
    Display Position
    Number of Rows/Number of Rows Item
    Maximum Row Count

  • How to set the number of records displayed at run time

    Is it possible to set the number of records displayed block property at run time? The built-in 'GET_BLOCK_PROPERTY' can retrieve the number of RECORDS_DISPLAYED. But I can't find SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY to set this property. Is there anyway I can set this property programmatically? Thanks for any suggestions!

    goal: How to vary the number of records displayed in a block
    programmatically
    fact: Oracle Forms Developer
    fix:
    Block property 'Number of Records Displayed' can not be changed during runtime
    using SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY. However, it is still possible programmatically change
    the visual appearance of the form so that it creates effect of changing this
    property. To achieve such an effect follow these steps:
    1. in Forms Builder, in the multirecord block define the new set of items.
    The simplest way is to copy/paste the original item and rename created item.
    2. set properties of these new items so that they are the same as the properties
    of the original items. If these new items were copied from original items
    then properties are already the same. Modify following properties
    'Database item' on new items to value 'No'
    'Synchronize with item' to the value of the original item
    'Number of Items Displayed' to desired value.
    'Visible' to 'No'
    In other words, these new items are mirrors of original items.
    3. code event, which is meant to trigger the change in block appearance.
    This code should use SET_ITEM_PROPERTY built-in to set properties
    like 'VISIBLE', 'ENABLED', 'NAVIGABLE', 'UPDATE_ALLOWED' and others
    to desired value for items which are about to be displayed, then
    move cursor to one of these just displayed items with GO_ITEM built-in
    and then hide the previously displayed items.
    Example:
    Assume that the block is built on SCOTT.DEPT schema. Following will
    change the set of displayed items
    set_item_property('dept.mdeptno',visible,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdname',visible,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mloc',visible,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdeptno',enabled,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdname',enabled,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mloc',enabled,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdeptno',update_allowed,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdname',update_allowed,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mloc',update_allowed,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdeptno',navigable,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mdname',navigable,property_true);
    set_item_property('dept.mloc',navigable,property_true);
    go_item('dept.mdeptno');
    set_item_property('dept.deptno',visible,property_false);
    set_item_property('dept.dname',visible,property_false);
    set_item_property('dept.loc',visible,property_false);

  • Change number of record displayed for a single item alone

    Hi,
    I have a single data block with few items. Is it possible to make one item in the block as non-database item and make the display of record in the item alone to show multiple lines.
    i.e. All other items in the Data block shows single record, whereas this particular item should shows 10 records.
    Is this achievable?
    Or should i have to put that item in a separate data block and choose the data block property to "Number of records displayed" as 10?
    Thanks,
    Yuvaraaj.

  • How do I count the number of records returned in the CMIS query

    How do I count the number of records returned in the query CMIS?
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ora:t:IDC:GlobalProfile WHERE ora:p:xRegionDefinition = \'RD_PROJETOS_EXCLUSIVOS\''}
    Euler Homero

    Hi Euler,
    interestingly enough, the reference guide for CMIS ( http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/CMIS_Query_Language ) that I found does not mention the COUNT function at all. On the other hand it states that: "The SELECT clause identifies which virtual columns to return in the result set. It can be either a comma-separated list of one or more queryNames of properties that are defined by queryable object types or * for all virtual columns."
    There are, however, some other posts like e.g. http://alfrescoshare.wordpress.com/2010/01/20/count-the-total-number-of-documents-in-alfresco-using-sql/ which state that they could make it working.
    Having asked in the WebCenter Portal forum, I assume that your content repository is WebCenter Content. The CMIS doc for the Content is available here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e15813.pdf (no COUNT there either). It does, however, mention explicitly that "CMIS queries return a Result Set where each Entry object will contain only the properties that were specified in the query.". This means your could rather investigate the Result Set. Note that there are also other means than CMIS how to get the requested result set (e.g. calling a search service directly via so-called RIDC).
    In the given context I am also interested what your use case is. OOTB CMIS in WebCenter Portal is used, for instance, in Content Presenter, where it is content rather than "parameters" what's displayed.

  • Maximum Number Of Records Import Manager can handle.

    Hi Guys,
    I want to know the maximum number of records Import Manager can import / handle at a time.
    Thanks in advance .
    Best Regards,
    Ramchandra Kalkar.

    Amol,
    The reference guide lists the limit at 50,000 records.
    My experience is that this is not necessarily the case. To me it seems as though the maximum import depends somewhat on the number of fields you are trying to import. Meaning you can probably import 50,000 records if the file only contains two columns/fields, but if the file contains many columns/fields you probably will encounter difficulty trying to import 50,000 records at a time.

  • Maximum number of Records for Emigall Upload

    Hi,
    Is there any limit or maximum number of records can be uploaded via Emigall at one time.
    Thanks.

    Hi Satish Kumar,
    There exists no limit except for some exceptions ;o) These exceptions are objects that require more and more memory during runtime due to growing internal tables. This behavior leads to performance issues because more and more time is spend in working on the internal tables instead of updating the database. This is known for the PARTNER migration object and all MM and PM related migration objects, such as, CONNOBJ, INST_MGMT, etc.
    On the other hand a long lasting import run (because it takes such a long time to migrate the objects in the import file) limits your options in controlling the data import, for example, restarting a cancelled import run. As already pointed out, the Distributed Import should be your choice when migrating huge import files with many objects to be migrated.
    I hope this answers your question.
    Kind regards,
    Fritz

  • Maximum number of records for usage of "For all entries"

    Hi,
    Is there a limit on maximum number of records to be selected from the database using "For all entries"  statement ?
    Thanks in advance

    There is a UNDOCUMENTED(??) behaviousr
    FOR ALL ENTRIES does ahidden SELECT DISTINCT & drops duplicates.
    http://web.mit.edu/fss/dev/abap_review_check_list.htm
    3 pitfalls
    "FOR ALL ENTRIES IN..." (outer join) are very fast but keep in the mind the special features and 3 pitfalls of using it.
    (a) Duplicates are removed from the answer set as if you had specified "SELECT DISTINCT"... So unless you intend for duplicates to be deleted include the unique key of the detail line items in your select statement. In the data dictionary (SE11) the fields belonging to the unique key are marked with an "X" in the key column.
    ^^!!!!
    (b) If the "one" table (the table that appears in the clause FOR ALL ENTRIES IN) is empty, all rows in the "many" table (the table that appears in the SELECT INTO clause ) are selected. Therefore make sure you check that the "one" table has rows before issuing a select with the "FOR ALL ENTRIES IN..." clause.
    (c) If the 'one' table (the table that appears in the clause FOR ALL ENTRIES IN) is very large there is performance degradation Steven Buttiglieri created sample code to illustrate this.

  • Maximum number of records to BAPI BAPI_PIRSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI

    Hi All ,
    Could anybody tell me maximum number of records that can be passed to BAPI
    BAPI_PIRSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI.
    This BAPI is used for forecast upload to SNP planning area (which can be seen in product view: /sapapo/rrp3).
    Win full points for the resolution...
    Thanks in advance...
    Chandan Dubey

    Hi Chandan!
    When you use read table, then you should define your tables as 'sorted' or 'hashed'. If you don't have a unique key or you need different key fields (in different parts of the program), then you can SORT the table and use binary search. But be careful, binary search for not correct sorted tables is possible, but won't find right entry. [end of confirmation]
    Also in SAP's BAPI read table without binary search might be found -> not only your coding might be slower with higher numbers.
    Variances in the runtime: of course different server load can have influences, also different buffer fillings (sometimes a value is in buffer, sometimes your SQL has to fill the buffer can occur.
    But also different data content has influence. I don't know details, but I asume your data is matnr / werks dependent. Then the BAPI can have an overhead for each article or each site. So if you book 1000 sites for 1 article can be faster than having 100 sites for 10 articles - because 'in the end' the booking will be split by articles (for example!).
    Check, what the leading object of this BAPI is (e.g. article). In the meaning of lock object of change document. It might be, that bookings for different entries of one article are not possible at the same time (in parallel) (and article is only example, you have to check).
    When you plan to run your program several times, divide your parts (-> the data) according to this object, so that the same object is only part of one program run. In general there is not much to think about running a report several times with different data - just locking has to be checked. (As long as the whole system is not getting busy for 100%...)

    Thanks in advance...
    Chandan Dubey

    Hi Chandan - There is no simple answer to this question.
    BAPI_PIRSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI has a built in package (number of records to process) counter which sends packets of data to livecache for creating data. By default this BAPI will process all records at once but there is a BADI in this BAPI that allows you to set the package size as well as many other things. The performance will depend upon things like your system,  environment and volume of data. There are 2 limitations in 1) the prereading (retrieval of matlocids, matids, locids, pegids, etc.) which happens prior to the livecache call and 2) the livecache call itself. The prereading can cause a memory overload but that is less likely to happen compared to a livecache problem. The proceduress that call livecache can run out of more likel than the ABAP tables and cause the program to dump as well and the dump may be hard to understand.
    What I have done with many programs is to add a wrapper around a livecache BAPI (or FM) call and use my own counter to send blocks or packets of data to the BAPI. For example loop through records in a program and call the BAPI for every 1000 records accumulating the return info in an internal table. The number of records in each packet or block is driven by a parameter on a selection screen or value in a ztable so the number can be tested and adjusted as needed. The reaction of livecache BAPIs will differ from system due to things such as hardware configuration and volume of data.
    If you do not code to call the BAPI as I have described above, place code in the BADI to set the packet size or limit the number of records being input some other way, then you are taking a risk that one day a specific number of records will cause a dump in this BAPI.
    I would think you would be safe with 500-1000 records but you should really test in your system and consider the options for packeting the number of records.

  • Maximum Number of Records in DataStore

    Hi, is there a maximum number of records recommended in a single DataStore? We are thinking of using Endeca Information Discovery to analyse social media data e.g. Twitter. I understand that it does not make sense to analyse an inordinate number of records at any instance, so would it make sense to create a view that queries the last X months of records from the DataStore? The full raw archive would still be kept in the DataStore and I can analyse it across different dimensions via views.

    There's not really a hard and fast limit as performance traditionally degrades gracefully if your data is starting to outpace your hardware at higher scale. Two other factors beyond "number of rows" would be number of assignments (i.e. rows * columns * values per column) and data size in terms of verbosity (lots of text, documents, etc.). I would argue these two numbers are much more important than number of rows due to the way that data is modeled in the engine.
    I think your idea of having views segment the data based on time is a good one. One other thing to consider is "sunsetting" older data, especially if the analysis is geared towards more "in the moment/recent history" data such as social media. Your older tweets might not be all that relevant after a certain period of time and would really just be "clogging things up".
    As an FYI, the new update/delete by key features included in v3.0 make this type of ingest model a whole lot easier:

  • Can we change [maximum number of records per page] property at run time

    can we change [maximum number of records per page] property at run time in report 6i

    Ravi,
    I hope you are already done with this. In the invoice there is a nice example you can use on the xml blogs.
    You limit the number of lines per page when you use the xsl commands like this in your template:
    <xsl:variable name="lpp" select="number(13)"/>
    <?for-each@section:LIST_G_INVOICE?>
    <xsl:variable xdofo:ctx="incontext" name="invLines" select=".//G_LINES[LINE_TYPE='LINE']"/>
    <?for-each:$invLines?> <?if:(position()-1) mod $lpp=0?> <xsl:variable name="start" xdofo:ctx="incontext" select="position()"/>
    and then you have the table where you have the data
    <?for-each:$invLines?><?if:position()>=$start and position()<$start+$lpp?>
    and all your lines
    and then
    <?end if?><?end for-each?>
