MaxL capabilities with Hyperion

Hello,
we are trying to manipulate hierarchies in a Hyperion Planning outline.
As an example requirement:
Take those costcenters where last year's revenue was higher than the last year average under a new parent in a secondary heirarhcy, without changing the original.
Can these type of parent child relationship changes been done?
Whit Maxl scripts?
Or how?
Within EPMA? Or only in Essbase outline?

MaxL automates Essbase -- dimensions, data, security, etc.
You're talking about Planning. Either EPMA or ODI/Classic Planning are going to be your tools for automating metadata management.
Yes, Essbase sits below Planning. Regardless, Essbase databases that relate to Plan Types get their metadata from the Planning application.

Issue with Hyperion Planning 11.1.2 EPM

Hi All,
I am facing an issue with Hyperion Planning 11.1.2 which was working till yesterday. When i login into the and go to navigate --> Administor --> Dimension Library i am getting an error which iam not able to understand. kindly help me out. i checked all my EPM services and they are up and working and also i have restarted them but no use. Can someone help me out what should i do. I have also logged in http://<machine name>:19091/awb but getting the same below error.

Hi,
First question, has anything changed since it worked like admin accounts.
Reboot the machine.
Next, just start the "Hyperion Foundation Shared Services - Web Application" service
Can you log into Shared Services ?
If you can, then start "Hyperion EPM Architect - Web Application" service
Go to http://localhost:19091/awb/ Does the web page display ?
If not then you it looks like EPMA needs reconfiguring.
Next start "Hyperion EPM Architect - Process Manager" service, make sure the service starts and it should start another 4 services.
Next refresh http://localhost:19091/awb/ and try and login.

I am very new to Hyperion,
I am going to start with Hyperion Installaion.

If you had read "installation starts here" you had done for me the 70% of the job. Your list of software installation is really right.
Installation order:
1. Database
1.1 Create database for shared services
1.2 Create database for web analysis
1.3 other products that require db
2. Shared services
3. Web analysis
When you have finished installation process... let us know.

Basic Help needed with Hyperion 9.3 Scheduling jobs

Hi!
Is there anyone who would be willing to help a novice understand the Scheduling features in Hyperion 9.3? We are converting from Brio 6.6 where we used the "Broadcast Server". We don't yet have many jobs - so I'm not migrating them. But, the documentation with Hyperion is not helping me really understand how to set a job to actually do anything. I don't yet know how to add cycles and direct specific output to specific places. The jobs "run" and I've created events ...

I agree about the documentation. It's not always easy to understand how to do something if your situation doesn't exactly match the examples. I had to use a lot of trial and error to finally get some jobs running.
The first misunderstanding I had was that if I want to schedule a document, I have to import my .bqy file as a job from the filesystem. You can't take an Interactive Reporting document from Workspace and use it as the basis of a job. So if you're using the web-based client and working on documents stored in Workspace you have to export the document to your filesystem and then import it as a job. You're probably beyond that point.
The second misunderstanding (and I wonder if this is your problem) is that you must set the job to allow users to create their own cycles for it. If you don't you're stuck with the default cycle set, and you cannot change it. This is where the documentation falls short -- it mentions the attribute, but doesn't go far enough to tell you what happens if you don't check it off -- that even you, as the owner-and-most-likely-also-administrator won't even be able to maninpulate the cycles. What's more, if you don't set this attribute on import, you can't set it later. There's no way to reach the dialog with Properties. I can't vouch for the Batch Scheduler, we don't license that (if it even applies). Maybe it's a bug, maybe I'm missing something, but this is the only way I can get the full functionality to work.
You will find this attribute on Step 3 of the import dialog "Interactive Reporting Job Properties". Check the box labeled "Users running this job can define their own cycles and actions". Once you finish and schedule the job, you can go to Manage Job Schedules and modify the schedule properties. Go to the Select Job Parameters tab, and create or use an existing parameter set (using the Go button).
This takes you to the Job Parameter dialog box, and that is where you set up your cycles and actions. You can set them up, save them as your own personal sets, or as public sets so your team can use them for other jobs. You should be able to make some headway here, the documentation becomes more useful again at this point.

Is there any way we can integrate mapviewer with Hyperion

Eager to know if there is any way we can integrate map viewer with Hyperion ?? All I am trying to do is to create a Map with help of MapViewer and place the Map in Hyperion Reporting tools.

That is not possible.

We don't see any separate ODI download as part of Oracle EPM (Hyperion) 11.1.1.3. Currently, we are using ODI 10.1.3.5 for Hyperion(Ess, Pln) 9.3.1. Planning to upgrade Hyperion to 11.1.1.3.
Just wondering, does ODI 10.1.3.5 still work for Hyperion 11.1.1.1.3?

Yes it does work with 11.1.1.1.3, though I recommend downloading the latest patches for 10.1.3.5 as some issues have been addressed with hyperion adaptors.

MS Excel 2010 takes long to open with Hyperion Smartview 11

the MS Excel 2010 takes about 20 sec to open a blank sheet when is with a user without Internet access. It is automatically open with Internet access. This behaviour started after the installation of Hyperion Smartview.

I've never worked with Hyperion Smart view.
But it sounds like the program configured to access the internet and perform an operation, such as check for updates for that program. Since we know this issue may caused by the Hyperion Smart view. If it is an add-in for office, we can try
to disable it to check if excel can open blank worksheet normally, meanwhile, if you want to use this tool, you can enable it. File->options->add-in

Re register Hyperion product with Hyperion shared services

We have distributed environment.foundation,epma,cmgr on windows say node1,HFm on node2,planning on windows node3,initially i have installed essbase modules and configured them on node3. after that i have installed and configured essbase studio, essbase server and eis on oel linux. I have unistalled essbase, studio, and eis on node3.Now my planning module is not able to communicate with essbase installed on oel linux. iam able to view the essbase app group in shared services.and also i am able to create the datasource,where the connectivity of essbase is succesful.I feel that i need to re register planning module with shared services. Am i correct .If i am correct please help me how can i do that.also i followed the oracle document how to re register a module with hyperion shared services. i cannot find the config file for planning .please help me on this.

Oracle GL Integration with Hyperion Planning

Dear All,
I need to integrate Oracle GL with Hyperion Planning.
My Question are:
1) Without any adapters, we can do this integration(Using PL/SQL). It is Possible?
2) Any document is available for intergration using the adapters(DIM/ODI).
ODI - Using ODI, one way of integration is possible(Oracle GL to Planning)
DIM - Using DIM, two way of integration is possible(Oracle GL to Planning & Planning to Oracle GL)
can u guide me in this situtation.

I am using Hyperion 9.3.1 with Oracle 10g. This is the first time, i am trying to do the integration with Oracle GL. My client dont have licenses for DIM, they are not ready to buy the licenses.
There is anyway to load the essbase cubes through Oracle tables.
John, This is my idea(Can u please suggest me on this). I am doing this in a test environment.
1) From Oralce GL server, I am taking the Trial Balance values into flat files
2) I am creating one Oracle table for TB_ORAGL(In Planning Server)
3) In Planning server, i am importing the flat files(TB_ORAGL) to the Oracle
4) From oracle table(TB_ORAGL), i am trying importing the data to essbase cubes using data load.
Vice versa steps for Hyperion Planning to Oracle GL.
can u guide me in this situtation.

Reconfigure issues in EPMA with hyperion products(essbase,HFM,Planning,calc manager,etc.,)
I have created new schema for foundation and one more schema for all other hyperion products and try to reconfigure but i unable to configure and all components are not shown in some hyperion products( in workspace in administer im unable to see classic application, in essbase im unable to see all application...).
as per my understanding im unable to see *"Registerd with shared services"* for each products in the final stages of configure.
Please try to know that what may be the cause.

If you are importing security into a target application then I believe that the users will need to exist in the tables before you do so.
I would run the provisionusers.cmd or go into the planning app and go to provision dimension security and click migrate identities.

OBIEE integration with Hyperion MDM?

Has anybody seen or worked on a project that integrated OBIEE with Hyperion MDM/DRM? I'm not familiar with MDM but it seems to me that MDM creates metadata that may overlap what OBIEE already has.
Any information on this would be greatly helpful.

No, it is only compatible with HFM releases up to 11.1.1. You will need to upgrade to FDM 11.1.1.3
