MDI form feature in JDeveloper 10.1.3

It's nice to see that you provide MDI form feature now for JClient in JDeveloper 10.1.3. Actually, you are having an even more powerful rich client framework that is quite more useful than MDI, witch is already available in your inventory. That is the doctable framework you are using for JDeveloper itself. Some IDE provider releases, or partially releases their source environment. Do you have any plan to release that also? That will make JClient users extremely happy :-)

Charles,
we are currently evaluating this option but have made no decision yet.

  • Forms 5 to jdeveloper

    need some guidance to convert my current application under forms 5 to jdeveloper.

    While I haven't personally performed a migration, take a look at one of our partners, Informatik Atelier, that offers a migration tool. See http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/content.html#f2j.
    Our most recent production version is Oracle9i JDeveloper 9.0.2, which I highly recommend because of the many new features and support of J2EE.

  • How to create MDI form in flex4 ?

    Hi to all .....i am new to this flex world i am trying to create MDI form can any one help me pls if u have samll program pls send me with full runnable source. pls help me

    Thanks for you answer.
    However that will not accomplish what I need.
    if i am validating an item code of sales order matrix
    so i have code behind the validate event
    The inputs that i will get from the modal form will determine wheather I should accept the value of the itemcode entered or not to accepts
    In other words. wheather to set bubbleevent = false or to true.
    your Idea will not make the validate event to wait until the modal form close
    So if I open the module form on the validate event, the form will open and the validate event will terminate and the bubbleevent will true. therefore the itemcode value entered is accepted.
    Sincerely yours

  • Forms developer and jdeveloper

    hi folks
    what is the difference between forms developer and jdeveloper
    if the both of them can deal with java and can deal with pl\sql ?
    regards

    You're looking at this from too high an altitude. After all, everything running on say a pc is just making machine language calls. It's the same machine language underneath the hood for everyone on that architecture. So from that perspective there can be no difference between any programming languages. But of course, that is not true from the developer nor the end user perspective.
    There are many many angles on what makes one development environment good or bad and many competing perspectives. For example
    flexibility. If the development environment extracts functionality into many separate pieces, it will be more flexible. A process can go from
    a->b->g and bypass c,d,e,f so to speak. Whereas if a lot of functionality was glommed together one would be condemned to
    a->b->c->d->e->f->g and getting it to perform outside that path might be extremely difficult or impossible. On the other hand,
    if one really wanted the default path and that was sufficient for what one typically did, it would likely be a lot simpler to develop
    that path in a tool that only did that path. With flexibility typically comes complexity. I think you're kinda looking at that with
    say forms vs jdeveloper. If you need that mvvc or whatever it is model, the complexity of jdeveloper is the best choice but if you do not
    want it and it just impedes you, then forms is your easiest and fastest environment for what I call DUIS :-) (data under form influences) aka (delete update insert select)

  • URGENT-MDI Forms in 9i

    1)I have about 13 forms that I want to have an MDI container for, how do I create MDI form in 9i?
    2) How can I append my own menu to the default menu?
    Thanks
    Mohammed

    To get a really speedy response you should probably address Forms questions to the appropriate forum Forms.
    Anyway, my Forms is a little rusty, but I seem to recall that there is a Forms level property for determining the use of MDI or SDI. Can't remember what it's called, but a couple of seconds staring at the Form level property inspector and you should be able to spot it. Alternatively Forms Builder does come with some good help text.

  • Forms server for Jdeveloper 9

    Is there any Forms extension for Jdeveloper9. I am testing my Oracle Applications to launch forms using the embedded web server from Jdeveloper9. How can I test forms. Do I need Forms extension for Jdeveloper 9

    You could try to deploy your jdeveloper web application (that opens forms applet) into forms OC4J in your developer suite home. This is not automated task from JDeveloper by default, but you can do it with custom ant scripts.

  • Problem calling WebService from Oracle Forms created by JDeveloper

    Hi All,
    I am trying to call a Webservice from Oracle Form using JAVA Class created by Oracle JDeveloper.
    The Java Function (in JDeveloper) is as follows:
    public Vector GetPIValue(String TagName, String ReadingTime) throws Exception
    URL endpointURL = new URL(endpoint);
    Envelope requestEnv = new Envelope();
    Body requestBody = new Body();
    Vector requestBodyEntries = new Vector();
    requestBodyEntries.addElement(TagName);
    requestBodyEntries.addElement(ReadingTime);
    requestBody.setBodyEntries(requestBodyEntries);
    requestEnv.setBody(requestBody);
    Message msg = new Message();
    msg.send(endpointURL, "http://tempuri.org/GetPIValue", requestEnv);
    Envelope responseEnv = msg.receiveEnvelope();
    Body responseBody = responseEnv.getBody();
    return responseBody.getBodyEntries();
    When this Class is Imported into Oracle Forms the Function is converted into the following PL/SQL code:
    FUNCTION GetPIValue(
    obj ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT,
    a0 VARCHAR2,
    a1 VARCHAR2) RETURN ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT IS
    BEGIN
    Message('param passed: '||a0||' - '||a1);
    cls := JNI.GET_CLASS('oracle/forms/demos/webservice/ConnectToPIStub');
    mid := JNI.GET_METHOD(FALSE, cls, 'GetPIValue', '(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/util/Vector;');
    args := JNI.CREATE_ARG_LIST(2);
    JNI.ADD_STRING_ARG(args, a0);
    JNI.ADD_STRING_ARG(args, a1);
    Message('I am Here');
    RETURN JNI.CALL_OBJECT_METHOD(obj, mid, args);
    END;
    When I am calling this Function from Within Forms and Passing into it the Parameters, I am displaying some Debugging Messages. When the Code reaches "JNI.CALL_OBJECT_METHOD" there is NO RESPONSE from the Webservice and nothing is moving forward after this Point...
    A similar Webservice that can be Tested is:
    http://www.webservicex.com/CurrencyConvertor.asmx
    with WSDL file:
    http://www.webservicex.com/CurrencyConvertor.asmx?wsdl
    Kindly note that this Webservice is running properly from the Web Browser but the call from Oracle Forms is not Succeeding!!!! :-((
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Baz

    Hi,
    Yes, you need to compile your source files with JDK 1.3 (since JInit 1.3.x.x uses JDK 1.3).
    Other solution would be to use JRE 1.5 (instead of JInitiator).
    Check out [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=550563] on how to use JRE1.5

  • Savable pdf form feature question

    Please give me steps to make pdf form savable with adobe acrobat X. I see step for Adobe Acrobat Pro - Choose Advanced>Extend Features in Adobe Acrobat Reader, but I don't have Adobe Acrobat Pro

    I think misread your question. To Reader-enable a document with Acrobat 10, select: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features

  • Printing: a new forms feature we want.

    Users expect to print forms. We need a way to do it. I am using 11.1.1.4 and the users tried printing
    from it. It prints but it's micro-sized, not big enough. A use for forms is enter some of the data here,
    enter some of the data there and then someone who needs to the data calls up the same form at
    yet a 3rd location and prints it. Someone else calls up the form at a 4th location and prints it. The idea being not having to pass paper files around from building to building. This would be a really really good idea for the next version of forms!
    (And btw it would be best if it worked on forms larger than one piece of paper.) This could be a larger project like how to get forms to play nicely with some pdf program or some word processing program or
    some spreadsheet program. That could take care of printing plus the highly desired by the users ability
    to interact with the products they love to use. (I don't but they do.)
    In the future this could expand to charts and that type of thing.
    (It needs to be easier to handle than webutil! )

    yes Mr. Ferrante it i definitely s a screen shot. And that is useful but we have forms larger than a screen. Secondly even in the case of a form that does fit on a single screen, printing it from forms ends up much smaller than the screen in both directions. I imagine this relates to the logic looking at how wide the actual screen is and then scaling it down to the much smaller paper. For example right now I'm using a screen that is 21 inches wide, about 2 1/2 pieces of portrait orientation paper wide. Imagine I bring up a form that turns out to take up 7 1/2 inches in width and I want to print that to paper that is 8 1/2 inches x 11 inches. What happens is the program is possibly looking at the possible size of the screen and not the actual size of the form? So it scales it much smaller to print, I'm guessing. We are using 6u45 btw. I don't doubt that getting printing to work well is rugged but it can be done. For example browsers do it (albeit not always perfectly). Users think 'there is that stuff I need in the form in the browser, I should be able to print it like any other web page'. Since the applet has disengaged itself from the browser apparently, we can't ask the browser to do the printing, right?. (It'd be great if we could!) So the only choice is forms (or some other java code finagled in there.) It would be such a great feature, to be able to print forms without creating a duplicate of the form so to speak in reports just to do the printing.
    If you could summon adobe reader, msword, excel and so forth from forms, passing a temporary file, that would probably solve the printing issue in many cases because they could print it depending on what the form looked like. Also users love to get data into their favorite applications anyway. (Speaking of this forms needs some work on copy and paste. It could definitely be better about users being able to copy data from forms and paste data to forms.)
    I definitely think anything you can do to enhance forms printing would be highly appreciated. One of the good things about forms is you can create enormous forms and it all works fine. But the form content of course extends way "below" the visible screen.
    The csv thing (I'd vote for tab delimited but whatever one would do it would be highly advisable to make the delimiter user-selectable) would be a great idea. We would love to be able to save data from a form as a tab delimited file (on the client). For example we have forms that do a lot of logic and user action to select certain names and addresses. Then they want to get that information into msword for mail merge to create labels and letters.
