Are MDI windows supported under the Forms server in Forms
6.0? I get conflicting answers to this when reading throught the
documentation delivered on the EAP CD.

Opening a report in a new window on the web

Hi I am displaying crystal reports using Tomcat and I am trying to get the hyperlink>'A website on the internet' to open up in a new window. At the moment it just opens up in the current window. This seems like it should be something very easy.

This is my link in a web page.

Select Customize Toolbar from the View menu, select the item and drag into the toolbar. Place where you want it to be.

We are using iPlanetWebserver 6.0 on windows 2000,the web server is getting shutdown automatically within a minute after starting it.

Windows handle of the Main Window of the SAPGUI

Hi experts,
i need to have the window handle value of the window of the Main MDI window of the SAP GUI from ABAP, does anyone know a FunctionModule or something like this to retrieve this information?
I need to retrieve information about the geometry of the window (Like the coordinates of the window,..).
(For 46C)

If this is not something you hope to do programatically .. MS's SPY++ utility will be of assist. If you wish to do it programmically .. I'm a newbie and am unaware of an FM to do it, though if it is possible to call a WIN API Function from ABAP, that may be a course you could persue

Forms Windows Maximize on Web

I'm trying to maximize my form window on the web, but I Set_Window_property Does'nt seem to work.
Anyone who has had the same problem ??

'Web' in this context means running Webforms as opposed to Client/Server. Most probably running in intranet with own server.
If you're not hosting your own server for internet use, you'll probably have to sign up for a dedicated server of which you've full control over. I think (should know it) that Oracle offers hosted Application Server served by Oracle DBA's. Call your Oracle reps for more information on that topic.

The MDI on the Web

Hi All,
I wonder if anyone else has had this problem and if they've found a way round it.
In clent server mode all our windows are centered within the MDI and we can obtain the size of the MDI from a get_window_property using FORMS_MDI_WINDOW handle. Unfortunately this is not usable over the web. Has anyone else found a way round this ? Can't find any way of getting this info from a built-in. Anyone know what the window handle might be for this java MDI window.
If you have, a hint would be appreciated. Current best option is to fix the MDI size and always work relative to that.

Answered my own question. It all works properly in 6i, plus Oracle alos inform me that it was fixed in version 6.0.6.3 of forms as well.

HOW TO HIDE MDI WINDOW INFORMS 9I WHEN THEY RUN IN WEB BROWSER

Hi. Will any body tell me how to hide the default MDI window title in Forms 9i when it run in Web Browser. I am using the "Look and feel" property as "Generic" in Formsweb.cfg file. I tried the RESIZE,POSITION,MINIMIZE,VISIBLE FALSE properties of SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY FUNCTION, But the horizontal Bar at the top displaying "Window" on it, is displayed. OR some time form is not displayed at all. So plz help me. This kindness of any one will be appriciated.

Hi Inayat,
To remove the ORACLE icon, change the line "logo=" to "logo=x" in file formsweb.cfg.
I am not sure if it is possible to remove the standard-menu (horizontal bar with word Window, as you describe it), because as far as I know it is inheritance for the Windows OS. In other words, removing the standard menu can only be achieved if you run on another OS.

Urgent : Sizing MDI Window for Forms running on Web

I am using Developer 6.0 and deploying forms on Web. I use
SEPERATE_FRAME = YES in my HTML so that the form appears outside
the browser in a seperate Window. The problem I am facing is the
initial size of the MDI Window is very small compared to the
Application window, so I have to maximise the MDI Window
manually in order to see my Application Window completely.
On Client Server I can get the handle of this MDI window using
FORMS_MDI_WINDOW and maximise it programatically. On Web
FORMS_MDI_WINDOW returns NULL as a result I cannot maximise the
same.
1. Is there any way to get the handle of MDI Window on web ?
2. If not is there a way to set the size of MDI window thru any
parameters or setting in HTML file or by other means ?

Hello,
you must generate a CWeb - cartrigde for your forms with a
separate frame in the Oracle Application Server_v4.0.7.
In the height and wight values for the frame set your size.
It works very well.

Maximize Window works different in C/S and the Web

I have read tons of topics to this point. But nothing which seams to be a solution or answer to this problem we have after migrating to Forms 10g (C/S was the source-application).
On a 1024*768 screen we had C/S-Layout with maximized MDI-Window and maximized inner Windows. That means, we have enough room for all items, blocks, ....
In Forms 10g we see, that the inner Window (named "WN_DEFAULT") maximizes in a different way: The window has a n own window-bar in which the window-title is displayed. The old c/s-technique has eliminated this window-bar...
That means we have to layout all of the 250 forms new. In multi-line-forms we have to reduce the displayed rows by 1. That's easy. In formulars we have to downsize the layout by 1 row. That's not that easy.
Is this maximize-behaviour a feature or is it fixed in the future?

Hi,
It is not possible to do achieve what you want, in C/S and Web more using same methodology. For 6i, you may need to use OLE, and for web, you can use a PJC (you can build it on top of JSpell? ). Of course, I am aware that both options are falling on your exception list ;) , but, i feel this is what you left out.

Using Firefox 4.0 Beta 4. When I open a link in a new window, the web address does not show in the location bar. Why?

When I open a web page link in "a new window" the link opens, but the web page information does not appear in the location bar. It is blank. If I open the link in a new tab, there is ho problem.
Further, if a open a link from the tab without a location in a new tab on the same window and then go back to the original tab, the location bar fills with the web address.
Have done this starting in several locations, so it not location dependent.

That behaviour is likely top be caused by an add-on, and in your case the likely culprit is IE Tab 2, the various versions of IE Tab have caused problems with Firefox 4 beta including issues with the location bar not being updated.
You can test to see if IE Tab 2 is causing your problem by disabling it and then seeing if the location bar in a new window shows the address. If it is not that add-on causing the problem, see [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
For info, the IE Tab Plus add-on has been updated recently to improve compatibility with Firefox 4 beta, you may want to try that one instead. The latest version is available from http://coralietab.mozdev.org/installation.html

When I download something from the Web, the "Downloads" window opens, but the window remains blank. Before it used to at least show the name of the file and I could open the file from the "Downloads" window. Is there a way to get this functionality back?

I'm running Windows XP which is updated to latest version (which I think might be Service Pack 3, but not positive.) Mozilla Firefox is version 5.0. I tend to use Google as my search engine so most of the stuff I download comes through sites found through Google, which is also updated.
At some time in the past (maybe a few versions ago) when I would download a file from the Web, the "Downloads" window would open and in the window would be displayed the name of the file I was downloading or had just completed downloading. I think I used to be able to then click on that file name and the file (or the installation file if needed to start the new program) would open. I am currently using Firefox 5.0 (the "About Firefox" screen says this is up to date) and when I download a file or document, the "Downloads" window appears on the screen as it always has in the past, but it remains blank, i.e., nothing appears in the downloads box. I don't remember making any configuration changes, etc., that may have caused the window to remain blank, but I could be mistaken. I know how to find the items I've downloaded (My Documents / Downloads) and can usually guess what the name of the downloaded file might be, but it used to be much easier when something (anything) showed up in the downloads window.
I'd love for someone to tell me about a simple fix for this. I'm willing to be quite embarrassed that I did something I shouldn't have.'''

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".
To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Properties, under System on that small window is info about your OS.
