Mdis settings

Hi all
We are doing a port load and want to auto map and add values to a qualified lookup table during the import
we have to following setting in out ini
Automap Unmapped Value=Yes
Unmapped Value Handling=Add
Always Use Unmapped Value Handling=Add
The log files shows the following error:
<Trace ts="2007/01/29 03:49:21.550 GMT" tid="1286" entry-no="225">     Value &apos;12230&apos; is ignored.<LINE-FEED/></Trace>
..and then will fail the import of the qualified lookup table.
If we open same file in import manager and then manually Auto map existing values and manually add new value, save the map and re-run the port import it works fine.
Any suggestions?
Regards
Con

Hi Con,
just another question from my side: which data type has the Non-Qualifer field itself? Is it a flat look-up? Or is it a simple text-field?
If it is a look up up field, the Import Server would have to fulfill two tasks for a new value:
1. The new value has to be added to the flat look up table itself
2. The new value has to be added as a possible non-qualifier.
This is indeed not working in MDIS.
If the non-qualifier is a simple text field, the import should work with adding the new values (if it does not, please raise a bug ticket!).
Regarding the modeling of a non-qualifier, I've got a tipp for you. You can model non-qualifiers as text field and you can "initialize" them with values. In fact a non-qualifier field has the same features as a flat look up. But: using a flat look up as field type for the non qualifier makes sense only if you can reuse this flat look up somewhere else in your data model. If you can not do this, I recommend to model the non-qualifers as flat fields!
Kind regards
Michael

    Are there any way to get audio output on the +internal speakers and the headphone jack at the same time?+I've tried the Sound/MDI settings but don't have clue where to find these settings (if thera are any)
    I have a decent subwoofer that could fit perfectly with my new Intel iMac. The included satellites are way too ugly to be near the iMac, so I prefer NOT to use them. The internal speakers would be great...and invisible.

    This is often asked. I know of no way to do it. I have never seen a hack.

    Hi Sekhar,
    Go to Services.msc in the system where your MDM servers are installed and restart the MDM Import server service.
    Then try connecting again.
    Your error message basiaclly points out that you are using Automatic import but as your MDIS server is not up and running the importing cannot be performed.
    So make sure your MDIS is functioning properly and you have made the necessary settings in your MDIS.ini file and port property in console for correct importing.

  • Import Server Error - Value Transformation

    Hi,
    I have two questions on import server and import map.
    1. My source xml does not have company code segment (customer repository), when I opened my xml thru import manager using my import map, I dont see any source fields belong to company code segment, which I think is right. But the same xml when it runs thru import server it throws "Value Transformation" error on fields that belong to company code segment which is not present in the source xml.  Any help on this issue is appreciated.
    2. In import maps, any new field mapping is saved using "Save update" option, but when I unmap any field, "save update" option does not save it, but "save as" option does save it, but the downside it just saves the current mapping. Any help on this is also appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Difference bet. Import manager and Import Server

    Hi
    Can anybody tell me what is the difference between a Import Server and a Import Manager? And How data is imported using these two?
    Thanks in advance

    Heii,
    In MDIS :
    MDIS can be installed on any machine on a network. It works with the MDM Server to import data automatically into existing MDM repositories. If MDIS and its associated MDM Server are installed on the same machine, no further customization needs to be done. If the MDM Server is located on a separate machine from MDIS, you will need to edit the MDIS settings file, mdis.ini (for more information, see MDIS Configuration).
    Before you begin using MDIS, you need to be sure that both MDIS and the MDM Server are running and that the target MDM repository is loaded and running. Directions for starting MDIS are located in this section. Directions for starting the MDM Server and loading a repository can be found in the MDM Console Reference Guide
    In case of Import Manger :
    The MDM Import Manager is a GUI “cockpit” that defines a very specific sequence of steps to prepare source data for import. But rather than perform the import a record at a time as with other import tools, the MDM Import Manager offers a comprehensive set of data transformation capabilities that allow you to pre-process the source data a field at a time prior to import.
    Moreover, for each field, the MDM Import Manager collapses the set of all values across the entire set of source records down to the set of distinct values, whose number will usually be dramatically smaller than the total number of records, often by several orders of magnitude.
    Field-at-a-time rather than record-at-a-time processing and the distinct value lists of the MDM Import Manager are together the lynchpin of its patent-pending Parametric Import™ technology, which supports the import of electronic source data from any tabular or XML format.
    Hope this might help to remove your confusion between Import Manager and MDIS.
    Plese reward If you find this useful.

  • MDM performance test

    Hi all,
    Anyone has done a performance test on MDM? Any test script would be really helpful!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    MDM Performance need to be monitored in basically two main MDM activities when it come to working in MDM real time:
    1) MDM Importing
    2) MDM Syndicatiion
    MDM Importing:
    - When ever you are using MDM in an IT Landscape there will be many source systems from where data will be inputted into MDM.
    - This data may either be imported in a Manual fashion or Automatically as in most case using the MDM import server.
    - In either case you will have to deal with thousands of records.
    - Importing such a large set of records afftects the performance as very stage till importing means(at the record matching steps etc till teh final import)
    - The performance gets affected slowing the process of importing right from opening a saved map ar even Field or value mapping.
    - And above all if you have an exception due to which a single record in the import chunk fails then the entire  set fails.
    - So care must be taken to improve the performance of importing records.
    - Which is done taking into consideration the following:
    Areas to focus on improving performance during Importing:
    1) The chunk size which defines the number of records to be imported at a time
    2) The number of records processed parallely (MDIS settings)
    3) The number of Fields Mapped
    4) Number of Matching field used
    5) The number of Validations and assignemnts running on the records etc
    MDM Syndication:
    - In the similar lines MDM performance also should be monitored when Harmonising data to the target systems
    - Selecting the records to be syndicated using search criteria,Suppressing Unchanged records,Key mapping etc all afftects the MDM performance adversely.
    You can in general create test scripts that will monitor MDM system performance in thes two prime areas as well as in MDM generak activities as well.Using different OS and different sizing.As MDM performance will differ according to the Software used in each case which includes the disk space,Cache and RAM as well.
    You can Create test scripts on the following activities using differnt Configurations and thus compare and test teh performance of teh MDM system under different conditions with the expected output as against the actual output
    - Testing mounting/unmounting repoisitory
    - Loading/Unloading Rep
    - Export/Import Schema
    - Archieving/Unarchieving rep
    - Creating Master/Slave rep
    - Importing different sets of Records using manual and automatic method
    - Syndicating different sets of rec using Manual and automatic method
    Hope it helped

  • Why CreateNewFrame() returns as NULL after successful created 136 child frame window and trying to create 137th child frame window in MDI application

    I am working on MDI application which was developed in VC++ in VS 2012. When my application is launched, it will display a Tree. Under a tree there are 254 nodes. Basically
    these nodes data are read from Configuration xml file and loaded into the Tree. By double clicking on each node, first it will create object for document class ( By calling CreateNewDocument() method) after that member variables for that
    document class will be initialized and then it will create the new frame window (by calling
    CreateNewFrame(pDoc,NULL). New child frame window will show under Main window to the user.
    User able to see the data from child frame window.
    Similarly by double clicking on each node it will create another object for the same document class and new child frame window will be opened for that node. Each child frame window runs
    in different data and showed under the Main window.
    Existing requirement by double clicking on each node, node data shall show in separate child window and there is no requirement for all 254 child windows opened simultaneously.
    But current requirement is , all 254 child windows shall open simultaneously by double clicking on each node one by one.
    In debug mode I have tried double clicking on each node. I able to open up to 50 nodes. After 50th child windows are opened, I unable to access to the application
    (Unable to open further node data window since application is getting hanged).
    Each child window is having tree, multiple splitter window and some additional controls (static text, ...).
    Same I have tried in release mode, I able to open up to 136 child windows. After that the application fail to create the new frame window in VS 2012. i.e CreateNewFrame() return
    NULL after successful created 136 child frame window. Debug purpose I have added the code to retrieve last error code by calling GetLastError() method. I got the value as "0". By closing any existing child window then I able to open remaining nodes.
    At any point of time I can reach maximum of 136 child frame window that can be opened under Main window. Failing to open all 254 child frame window
    simultaneously,  currently I fail to meet the current requirement.
    current Requirement is all 254 child frame window are opened simultaneously. Please let me know what may be the reason fail to create new frame window after 136 frame window that are
    opened already. In Microsoft site, mentioned that there is no limitation for creating frame  window in MDI application. I have tried another sample MDI application having limited number of controls, in which I able to create "n"
    number of child frame windows. why not able to create more than 136 child frame window in my actual application?
    Is there any possibility by changing project settings allow me to create 254 child frame window??
    Code Snippet as below:
    CDiagBaseDoc * CDiagBaseMDocTemplate::OpenDiagView( ...)
         CDiagBaseDoc* pDoc = NULL;
        if (pDoc == NULL)
            pDoc = (CDiagBaseDoc*)CreateNewDocument();
        if ( pDoc )
           CFrameWnd* pFrame = NULL;
           if (bAlreadyOpen)
                  // If Child frame window already opened, then handling the code here.
         else
               pFrame = CreateNewFrame(pDoc, NULL);
               if (pFrame == NULL)
                  ASSERT(FALSE);
                  delete pDoc;       // explicit delete on error
                 pDoc = NULL;
              ASSERT_VALID(pFrame);
              if( pDoc != NULL ) //VS2012
                 if ( !pDoc->OnNewDocument() )
                    TRACE0("CDocument::OnNewDocument returned FALSE\n");
                    delete pDoc;       // explicit delete on error
                    pDoc = NULL;
                    pFrame->DestroyWindow();
                     pFrame = NULL;
           if (pFrame)
               InitialUpdateFrame(pFrame, pDoc);
               ShowWindow( pFrame->GetSafeHwnd(), SW_MAXIMIZE ); //when opening node for the 1st time, maximize it
    }<o:p></o:p>

    Hi MuruganK,
    Have you checked how much memory your application used? You could check it by Task Manager. Maybe your application reach Memory Limits for Windows.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778%28v=vs.85%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
    Is it possible that there are some memory leaks in your application? It would better if you have made a simple sample to reproduce and narrow down this issue.

  • MDIS throwing error in the map

    Hi Experts,
    I am facing the following issue in MDIS.
    I created a map and saved it with the options unmapped value = add and automap option in the configuration.Also in my model I have a compound fields for the qualified tables .I created a map and saved it and tested it manually .Everything works fine.But when I am trying to use this map in the MDIS ,I am unable to import the xml .Error says
    "Some portions of this import map are out of date".As a solution I went to import manager and reopened the map and saved it with save update option.
    Also if I try to import the same file I created the map with ,it gets successfully imported.
    Any help please
    Thanks
    Vinay

    Hi Vinay,
    Firstly,
    The map that you have created and wish to reuse in automatic importing using the MDIS must have the source file configurations same.
    What i mean is.When you created the map you used a source file but now you are trying to import a new source file which can have differnt configurations like The field names used in the first source file does not match with the new incoming file .
    Like for example you have created a compound field using a given field but this is may not be same when you are using a new file.
    So this kind of mismatches can cause this error while importing.
    The error "The map is outdated" can occur when the map settings are not compatible enough to match the current source file.
    Try out making a simple configuration in the map by doing a simple field mapping without compound mapping etc and then use this new source file and try importing to see if you are still getting the same error or not.
    Not very sure but it could be that these complex context menu operations cannot be reused. for automation.
    Hope It Helped
    Thanks & Regards

  • MDIS Question

    Could anyone clarify the following?
    We set the file aggregation count = 1 . This means even if we have more than one file in the ready folder still it will process the files one by one meaning first file has to complete then only the next file will pick up and load. This is correct?. Some times we may have many files in the inbound ready folder.  We use sinmple workflow also. Does this cause record lock exception?
    Some times we get record lock exception and the Import log says u2018operation="Import" import-action="Update (All Mapped Fields)" row="??">The record is currently used in the workflowu201D.  But the workflow completed successfully and not holding any record in the workflow
    MDIS Configuration  file:-
    Chunk Size=??? u2013 What exactly this is used for?
    No. Of Chunks Processed In Parallel=?? u2013 What exactly this is used for?

    Hi Lamp,
    File Aggregation Count:The number of import files to aggregate for batch processing.
    As you set it to 1 so your understanding is correct here.
    Chunk Size: The Chunk Size value tells MDIS how many records from an aggregated file set to process at a time.Once MDIS processes a chunk of records, it immediately sends this chunk to MDS for import into the repository. When MDS receives the chunk, the Import Slice Size setting controls how many records from the chunk it should process at a time.
    Note: The MDM Server is locked during record import.
    Note: Each of these parameters must be added manually to the server-level settings in the mds.ini file. If these parameters are not added to mds.ini or have no values set, their default values will be used.
    Currently, MDS only and always uses the average of these two values (Import Slice Size Min, Import Slice Size Max).
    We use sinmple workflow also. Does this cause record lock exception?
    If you are importing records into a workflow, the workflow is not launched until all import slices from an import package have been processed. An import package refers to the complete set of records received from a set of import files aggregated by MDIS.
    Note: The port is locked during MDIS processing.
    No. of Chunks Processed In Parallel  is the number of chunks processed simultaneously during streaming import. Default is 5. This parameter determines how many chunks MDIS can manage simultaneously, counting one chunk per stage plus chunks queued between stages
    For more details, refer MDM Console Reference Guide.

    ill be very thank full to all

    If you mean the correspondence, you have to change the configuration in Financial Accounting -> AR and AP -> Business Transactions -> Outgoing Invoices -> Carry Out abd Check Settings for Correspondence. There, you need to assign your custom Program or Layout for the Correspondence Type (like SAP19) and Program.
    If you mean the display layout in transaction FB03, You can change a few settings, mainly with BKPF and BSEG fields. I don't think you can add company address, though.
    Good luck,

    Hi All,
    Can you change the default Midi Sync Project Setting so they have your own settings everytime you start up logic Pro X?
    Preferences > Midi > Sync >MIDI sync project settings
    General Default:
    Frame Rate 25 fps
    Check auto detect format of MTC
    Default required:
    Set frame rate to 29.97fps
    check 'auto detect format of MTC'
    check Enable Separate SMPTE View Offset
    MDI Default is:
    MTC and MMC  all unchecked
    Default required:
    Check 'Transmit MTC'
    Check 'Transmit MMC'
    Check 'Listen to MMC Input'
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Regards,
               Gavin.

    No, that's not what I typed above.
    The rule is... Preferences are Global, changes made in Preferences affect all Projects.
    "Settings" are on a per song basis.
    In Logic 9 (and I imagine in X as well) there are two main areas to configure Logic.
    1. Is Preferences    Preferences settings are global and affect all projects.
    2. Is Settings          Settings are set for each project, they are not global
    You typed:  Preferences > Midi > Sync >MIDI sync project settings
    See what is says, MIDI Sync Project Settings.
    Preferences has forwarded you into the Settings area so no, the MIDI Sync options are not global, they have to be adjusted for each song, that's why I suggested setting up templates of your most used project setups.

  • Forms 10g : How to hide the parent MDI window.

    Hi All ,
    We have migrated an forms sdi application into forms 10g.
    Now in the new application , we see a parent MDI appearing as a background to the SDI windows which is smaller in size ( as per the settings ).
    Wanted to know if there is any solution to hide this parent Window(MDI) as the user wants a similar look and feel as his current application.
    Any help is really appreciated .
    thank you all.

    Dear Friend,
    If u r using SeparateFrame = true, then you cannot minimize forms MDI window, because this is the form on which your sdi form is based. It is better if you display your forms inside the main browser by setting SeparateFrame = false. It will look better as a new Internet explorer window will not be visible, which is true for SeparateFrame = true parameter.
