MDS 9222i testing with looped port

is it possible to define a looped N-port on an MDS9222i (should just send the traffic back from receive to send)? if so, what command is needed? haven't found one so far but the data sheet tells me it should be possible.
thanks for any advice.

Performing Internal Loopback Tests
You can run manual loopback tests to identify hardware errors in the data path in the switching or services modules, and the control path in the supervisor modules. Internal loopback tests send and receive FC2 frames to/from the same ports and provide the round trip time taken in microseconds. These tests are available for Fibre Channel, IPS, and iSCSI interfaces.
Use the EXEC-level system health internal-loopback command to explicitly run this test on demand (when requested by the user) within ports for the entire module.
switch# system health internal-loopback interface iscsi 8/1
Internal loopback test on interface iscsi8/1 was  successful.
Sent 1 received 1 frames
Round trip time taken is 79 useconds
Use the EXEC-level system health internal-loopback command to explicitly run this test on demand (when requested by the user) within ports for the entire module and override the frame count configured on the switch.
switch# system health internal-loopback interface iscsi 8/1 frame-count 20

  • Looping test with data

I have an object that essentially takes a string and output another string.  I wanted to create a single test with a loop and have an array of object that represents the strings to be compared.  However, after doing it I realized that it won't work since it will only test up to the first failure and than exception out.  Is there a way to do this without creating a test method for each pair of strings.  I would really like to avoid that since there will be tons of them.  Plus, my goal will be to store this data in an external xml file.
Here's the code I have with the loop.
            [Test (Description="Chapter 1 - Numbers")]
            public function number():void {
                var tests:Array = [
                    { eq:"59*0=0",                speak:"59 times 0 equals 0"} ,
                    { eq:"102+2,214+15=2,331",    speak:"102 plus 2,214 plus 15 equals 2,331"},
                    { eq:"3--2",                speak:"3 minus negative 2"}
                for each (var test:Object in tests) {
                    Assert.assertEquals(test.speak,getMathSpeak(test.eq));

What you are looking for is parameterized testing. This will be in our next release but isnt available yet.
A somewhat cheap way you could handle this now is to compare each example in the loop and push the results onto an array. When the loop is done, if the array is empty, then you do nothing and the test passed. If the array has values, then you can call Assert.fail and pass it the array converted to a string.
You will still only get one success or failure, but at least you will have some detail about why it failed.
the parameterized testing is likely still a month or more away from its debut. It is a tricky problem due to the need to unwind it across flash player frames.

  • Port-Channel issue between UCS FI and MDS 9222i switch

    Hi
I have a problem between UCS FI and MDS switch port-channel. When MDS-A is powered down the port-channel fails but UCS blade vHBA does not detect the failure of the port-chanel on UCS-FI and leaves the vHBA online. However, if there is no port-channel between FI-->MDS it works fine.

  • About MDS 9222i config port-channel

    dear everyone~
in project ,i need config  MDS 9222i use 4 FCIP interface connect to 7606S 4 GE port for port-channel feature, but in MDS9222i i use port-channel commad ,cannot run。
    how can i config it?
    thinks~

    Hi Sun,
Ethernet PortChannels are not supported on MSM-18/4 modules and 9222i IPS modules.
You can place the fcip interfaces in a fibre channel port-channel instead.

  • Interconnecting CIsco MDS 9222i to the HP C-Blade enclosute VC-FC Virtual connect module

    Hi,
Anyone had the experience of interconnecting the CIsco MDS 9222i to an HP Blade system through the VC-FC virtual connect module?
When i connect my MDS switch to the module, the VC-FC ports dont log in to the MDS. Could i be missing out on something? I have configured the MDS to use the default VSAN 1 and tried configuring the ports as F-ports but nothing worked, even with the port mode put on auto they still take on the F-port role and still the VC-FC module doesnt log in.
Your help and support will be appreciated

i wanna use the CLI though i also have the fabric manager at my disposal. would you kindly
share a sanitised version of ur running config for the mds that does the FCIP replication to the DR i see if i can make head out of it then i
f i face any challenge will holla at u. you can email me [email protected]
My set up is as follows, ive got 2 MDS 9222i at the primary site in active-standby mode, one connects to the active VC while the other connects to the standby VC of the blade system. Then i have a similar set up for the DR. Good thing is that am first setting everything up here in my Data Centre, then test before sending the configured equipment to the DR. So i have much freedom to get dirty with the equipment, and its not a live environment yet.
Kindly let me know the step-by-step procedure of having the FCIP set up.

  • SNMP or MDS 9222i stopped working

    Ok,
Got two MDS 9222i switches and by some act of crazyness both have stopped responding to SNMP request. As such our monitoring tools cannot get to them. Worse still the fabric manager cannot manage them and I cannot connect to them via ssh1 or ssh2 or telnet.
I've removed ssh and snmp setting and readded. Switch will work for around 30 seconds then drops connection and when you try reconnect it times out.
    commands removed and added
    no telnet server enable
    ssh key rsa1 1024 force
    ssh server enable
    snmp-server contact ******
    snmp-server location ******

I've removed the names and replaced with ******, also have run no commands to remove then readded.
Like I said once the settings are there will work for 30seconds or so then crap out.
    Running version 3.3(1a)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, will be upgrading kickstart and version to 4.1.1c this weekend but wanted to find the issue at hand first.
    Thanks

So you have the same symptom of SSH and FM not working with a crossover cable? Not sure how ACS would work if you had a cross over cable in place to your PC because the ACS server would not be reachable from the MDS. It should drop to local auth and use the local user database.
Can you try to ping the MDS mgmt IP address with the cable not connected? Just to verify there is no duplicate IP address on the network? Set up a continuous ping and let it run for over a minute if all looks good. At the 1 minute mark, unplug the mgmt 0 cable and verify that the pings now timeout.
I can not think of anything internally that would affect both SSH and SNMP from working. They are totally different process. You mentioned it is a 9222i, so there is no chance that they sups are crashing and you are hitting a sup roll over to cause the disconnect.
You may want to attach a local console (PC with hypertem or Teraterm) to the console port on the MDS and monitor the event logs. Perhaps there is some event occurring that might explain the odd behavior.
If you do attach the local console, you may want to collect a 'show tech support' in case this needs to be worked by TAC.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • I cannot get GPS Only to work on my ipad3 (4g version, but not on an active cell plan, and wifi off).  Is there some new requirement in 7.1 or 7.1.1 to have cell and/or wifi enabled for GPS to work? I am testing with MotionX

It seems like I cannot get GPS only to work on my ipad3 (4g version, but not on an active cell plan, and wifi off).  Is there some new requirement in 7.1 or 7.1.1 to have cell and/or wifi enabled for GPS to work? I am testing with MotionX, garmin blueChart mobile, and a GPS monitoring tool. All show no signal. If I turn on cell and wifi,  it says I get gps signal, but can't tell if that is from the GPS chip, or just from cell and wifi only (maybe with some gps mixed in)?  Any ideas on how to get iPad working with GPS only??

  • ESR,ID working with 8000 port but not with 50000

    Hi experts,
I am working with PI 7.1. I am working with SOAP to ABAP SERVER Proxy scenario. I have downloaded the WSDL from ID and using XMLSPY sent a SOAP request to PI server and I got an error in SXMB_MONI under the Call Adapter step saying CLIENT_RECEIVE_FAILED.
We cross checked the services in  SMICM transaction, and we missed the HTTP port 8000 for the parameter icm/servr/port_xx.
Then basis team changed the port 8000 in SMICM for the same parameter and restarted the Java stack.we checked the icm/HTTP/j2ee parameter which is having 50000 port.
Now ESR,ID,SLD,RWB... etc are working with ABAP port 8000 but not with 50000 java port and also I am getting an error in SXI_ CACHE while doing my delta refresh if_http_client receive http_communication_failure : http_communication_failure:ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED. Kindly suggest me to resolve this error.
    Naveen

    Hi,
    Re: Architecture of PI 7.1
NW PI 7.1 - ICM is not binding to port 5$$00
from the above two threads it is very clear that from PI 7.1 both the ABAP and J2EE ports are same.
Now we maintained both the ICM and j2ee port as 50000. Now ESR,ID,SLD are working with port 50000.
But in my SOAP to Proxy scenario I  am getting the same error. When I try to send request to XI server using Altova xmlspy I am getting following error in SXMB_MONI under Call Adapter
    <SAP:Code area="INTERNAL">CLIENT_RECEIVE_FAILED</SAP:Code>
      <SAP:P1>400</SAP:P1>
      <SAP:P2>ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED</SAP:P2>
When i click that HTML error It shows
    404 Resource not found
I am getting the following error in CC monitoring .
    com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: XIServer:CLIENT_RECEIVE_FAILED
My reciever communication channel is in green status CC monitoring.
I tested my server proxy in my end system which is successfully fetching data.
I am using the following URL format for generating the WSDL from Integration directory.
    http://host:port /XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=p:s:c
Do we need to maintain the Fully qualified host name  in the above URL?
I tried with a test scenario which is an asynchronous communication with the above mentioned URL format. I got a success message in SXMB_MONI.
Since I am using PI 7.1 I tried the following URL also  but i this case, the XML spy itself throws error. I couldnt see any messages in SXMB_MONI.
    http://host:port/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?senderParty=&sender
    Service=FS&interface=IF&receiverParty=&receiverService=TS&interfa
    ceNamespace=IFNamespace
I have seen many threads in SDN for this same error but I didn't get an answer for my scenario.

    Thanks for the quick responses.

  • How to test if a port number is already in use ?

    Hi,
How can I know if a given port is already is use by another program ? I have wrote a TFTP Server in Java that is working on (of course) port 69. The problem, is that I have to start the server with admin rights, because it uses port 69. I then have to start another program (with user rights) and I have to be sure that the TFTP server is running. So how can I test if the port number 69 is already in use, i.e my TFTP Server is already running ?
    Thanks
    Chris

I should add a few things, because it would actually be simple to test this with a simple
    Socket s = new Socket("localhost",69);
If I had a IOException, it is almost sure that the server is not running on port 69. Now even if I start the server, i.e the thread to listen on 69, if I do a port scan or use the above code, I have as reponse that there is nothing on port 69. Why this ? It is because I use DatagramSocket ? Or because the port becomes active only after the first exchange of data ?
    Thanks
    Chris

Hi, Santosh..., and welcome to the Community,
I would recommend testing the SMS reply forwarding to your mobile number.  Depending upon the results and if this works for you, you could then contact Skype Customer Service to cancel and request a refund.
In other words, SMS will be received via your mobile number, not via your Skype Number.

  • Is it safe to use the Belkin power strip with USB ports to charge my iPad? Or is the iPad USB adapter the safest route to take when traveling with device?

Is it safe to use the Belkin power strip with USB ports to charge my iPad?
Or is it better to travel with the Wall Charger provided with iPad?
Concerned about safety of the device. Thanks for your thoughts.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • How to test FireWire 800 port

    Hello -
My MBP's FW800 stopped working on my WD MyBook 1Terabyte Pro Edition II HD. I tested with an identical MyBook HD and same. I switched cables. Nada.
Both FW400 and USB work just fine.
Any way to test/verify the port is dead without having to take it in for service check, which means I am without a computer for a week or two?
Thanks for any sage advice given.
    Steve

    hi fgm14,
"If you connect a bus powered firewire device
(Firelite) in my case. You MUST NOT connect any other
firewire drive EVEN IF POWERED in either the 800 or
    the 400 port"
I found this info too. I think it was the reason for "killing" the 800 port temporarily (see my post above).
In fact both, hd and camera were self-powered during capturing. In my Case there is one special aspect which MAY have caused the port-killing: I think - I'm not sure - that I disconnected the camera's power plug after capturing but let the camera-fw-400-port connected. Maybe the mbp thought (so far it is able to do? from now on the fw-400-unit is to be bus powered.
At the moment I solved it this way:
    - external hd connected to the 800 port of the mbp c2d
    - camera connected to 400 port of the external hd
So far it works: capturing dv-material with final cut pro to the external hd.
I find this a great pain - can anyone else confirm
    this advice?
In fact it IS a great pain having 2 ports one cannot use simultanously without paying a lot of attention on how the parts are powered. Is this apple-like? I think we have to consider: it is - as the myth of apple products reliability is only a myth! I had 2 logic boards to be replaced (G4, G5; in both cases one of the two processors didn't work right from the start), three 23'' acd's were returned because low color and lightning quality before I bought a even cheaper eizo-model.
I love the apple hard- and software-designs and maybe on windows its much more trouble with the system, but is it satisfying enough?
Does Apple ever answer these forum questions - I see
no way to talk to them after 90 days.
My experience: the only way is to buy an apple care protection plan to reduce your efforts and costs for a time. Normally phone support ends up in "Please contact your local apple service provider."
    Good luck

    Hi
could any one advice me about "switchport voice vlan"?
    I have a configuration like:
    interface GigabitEthernet 1/-/1
    description test phone
    switch port access vlan 100
    switchport mode access
    switchport voice vlan 200
when I plug a no-cisco phone into this port, the phone try to get dhcp from vlan100, not vlan 200.
do I have any chance to force it go to vlan 200? o
    Any comments will be appreciate
    Thanks in advance
    julxu

    Hi
Most IP phones have some mechanism for setting the VLAN - Cisco phones use CDP, but other phones do not. Check with the manufacturer, or post up the type of phone you have.
For example, some phones require you to set custom DHCP options to set the VLAN.

  • IDevices with Lightning Port - Silent Mode after Charging

    Hi,
I have been tracking and troubleshooting an issue with iOS devices - iPhone 5 (two units) and iPad 4 since its launch and iOS 6.0 until now at latest iOS 6.0.1/6.0.2 (dependent on device) without much success to narrow the cause.
It appears that the various iOS devices with lightning port that I (and my partner) have exhibits the issue of it going into "Silent Mode" after charging. And once it gets into this "Silent Mode", the toggling the silent switch on and off will not have any effect, and so does any of the sound settings. The only way to resolve this permanent "Silent Mode" is to restart the iOS device.
All the lightning cables used are Apple genuine ones purchased direct from Apple Online Store (during the initial weeks of iPhone 5 launch, total purchased 3 on top of those that came with iPhone 5 and iPad 4). The charging adapter/device varies though, from Apple 10W iPad charging adapter, Apple 12W iPad charging adapter (that cause with iPad 4), to Dell Latitude E6400 laptop and Apple Mac Mini (2011). This issue has been random irregardless of which charging adapter/device used, but has been more prone to occur when charging from the Dell Latitude E6400 laptop (the most number of times it has happened on both iPhone 5 and iPad 4).
Is anyone experiencing similar issue? Or have any suggestions to reproduce the issue?

Haven't experienced this on either of 2 iPhone 5's or an iPad Mini.
Try restoring one of the devices. See if that helps. Since you have multiple devices to test on, restore a different one as a "new" device.
If the one restored as 'new' does not have problems, and the other does, then it can probably be traced to an app that they have in common or corruption in the backup used to restore them.
