MDT 2012 - Image failing during system restore - C:\LTIBootstrap still there. Autologin not happening.

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can assist.  I have an image that was working but the builtin admin account was disabled.  I went into the image and enabled the account and set a password.  I ran sysprep and capture.  Now, when i try to deploy either
image, it installs the OS, reboots and then sits at a login (does not go into the admin account to continue).  I login and i notice that LTIBootstrap.vbs is sitting on the root of c along with the Minint folder and other MDT folders.  I have MDT
on 2 servers and they both do the same thing.  Unattend.xml in c:\minint has the correct local admin/password

Hi Rick,
To my understanding, sysprep and to be more specific the "gerenalize" step will make sure all personalized information will be removed before entering the capture mode.
I'm aware additional created account's will be preserved, but I can't tell you about the built-in administrator account.
The first thing that comes to mind is that, your Build task sequence uses a Unattend.xml, just the same as your Deploy task sequence does this.
Assuming that you don't do anything you haven't mentioned with the account in the task sequence, like renaming the admin account or setting a different password during the task sequence. Cross checking both your Unattended.xml would be a good place to start.
Also, it is known, that Windows allows the machine to be auto logged on, a couple of times. So please check if this isn't also the case. See this link for more info: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324737
Lastly if all else fails, you can set the account enabled, and a password by commandline, but this should only be done as a temporarily work around. See these links for more information: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/251394 and http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/3040.enable-disable-the-local-hidden-built-in-administrator-account-in-windows-7.aspx
Good luck!

  • Encryption Fails during System Check

I am doing an enterprise rollout of Bitlocker and out of the thousands that have been prompted and successfully encrypted, I have two that fail during the system check. (Power Cable and CD/DVD). Bitlocker thinks that there is a disc in the drive, when
there is nothing in the drive (no mounted ISO either). I have at least 1000 more that have yet to be encrypted, so it is likely that I will bump into this again.  I can't find anything in the Service & App logs that explain what is happening.
Does anyone have a solution to this???

    Hi Hoosierdaddy42,
In the article "BitLocker Drive Encryption in Windows 7: Frequently Asked Questions" under the heading 'What causes BitLocker to start into recovery mode when attempting to start
the operating system drive?' one of the items listed is:
Having the CD or DVD drive before the hard drive in the BIOS boot order and then inserting or removing a CD or DVD.
There are other things on that list that may be related.
    Hope this helps,
    David

  • Create MDT Boot Image Fails

I'm trying to create MDT boot images using MDT 2012 U1 on CM 2012 R2 but I keep getting this error message as desribed by this entry on
    James Bannan's blog
The suggested fix/workaround is to launch the CM console as administrator.  I've tried that with no success and wondered if anyone else has seen this and perhaps knows what the problem is?  Any help would be appreciated.  Merry Christmas!

Thanks, is 2013 required or recommended?  The guys running the server re-installed WAIK and the process completed successfully.

  • Trust Relationship between PC and Domain broken\failed after System Restore

We are currently faced with a problem that every time we do a System Restore on our Windows 7 workstation, upon login attempt, we an login failed because the Trust Relationship between PC and Domain is broken.
As solution: we have to log in as a local admin,  remove the workstation account from the domain, then re-add the workstation back to the domain.
Does anybody know if there is a hotfix for this or how we can bypass having to remove and re-add the workstation to the domain in order to login?

Have you checked on when the computer last checked in and changed the computer account password with the domain?  When a computer changes it's password, Active Directory will store only the current password and it does not expire.  The workstation
will store both the current password and the previous password.  This for cases when you may restore Active Directory to a point before the computer password change.
To handle this, the workstation will try it's current password, then it's previous.
If you're restoring the workstation to a previous point in time, you may be rolling the stored passwords back too far for Active Directory to accept.  I would only imagine this to be the case a handful of times if you're going back 1-2 days.
    Are you experiencing 100% failure?

  • OSD fails during WinPE Install drivers - "The hash value is not correct"

    Hello everyone,
We are facing a strange problem during OSD for one of the hardware models. We are on SCCM 2012 R2, and mainly build Windows 7
x86 machines on various Lenovo models.
I can see this problem I have encountered has been discussed elsewhere on this forum (especially SCCM 2007 threads) but not really sure what I have
observed is the issue being discussed. Here is the problem....<o:p></o:p>
We have a laptop (Lenovo x240) which has been building perfectly fine for as long as I can remember. However since last 2 days when I try to build
the same model, we get the above error during the driver installation stage (in WinPE).<o:p></o:p>
I referred to some of the other threads and MS blogs where they say file names with extended ASCII character may break the hash of the files (packages)
being downloaded during OSD resulting in the error(http://blogs.technet.com/b/smsandmom/archive/2008/10/09/configmgr-2007-smsts-error-hash-could-not-be-matched-for-the-downloaded-content.aspx).
The point is I have manually gone into the Command prompt (F8) during driver downloading stage (right after apply OS image) and checked that the drivers are getting downloaded fine (but there is not enough time for me to check individual sub folders for the
extended ascii character problem). When it comes to installing the drivers, the TS fails and immediately the whole of the driver packages folder under D:\_SmsTaskSequence\Packages\PackageID folder becomes empty.
There is nothing much logged in the ts log either.<o:p></o:p>
Any thoughts? The only thing that has changed in our environment in the last 2 weeks is that we have upgraded from SCCM
2012 SP1 to R2(CU3). All the other models have built ok since and only X240 is running into this issue.
Would recreating the driver pack be an option here? I also understand that we also can configure the TS to refer to the package media directly from
the DP share (instead of downloading) but we would rather not get into that at this stage as we have not tested the TS with that configuration (it might open another can of worms with package command lines etc.)
One more point - This "The hash value is not correct" error message is only logged on the SCCM status messaging system (which can be viewed
under the Monitoring wunderbar - Status Message Queries). I do not find it on the ts log file interestingly.
    Any help is much appreciated.<o:p></o:p>

I've only seen this once before in a ConfigMgr 2012 RTM environment and after fighting it for a few days I ended up simply recreating the driver packages.

  • After system restore CS3 stopped working and can not be uninstalled

I did a system restore (W7) and my CS3 apps stopped working with the message "Licensing for this product stopped functioning. Currently you cannot use this product. Solve this problem by uninstalling and reinstalling or contact support." I tried to uninstall but the installation manager returns a list of applications with red X and "unsuccessful" next to it. Reinstalling it from the dvd  returns: "Installation error, can not continue. Contact support. Internal error 2739". I do not really want to reinstall the whole system since other Adobe applications (PS CS6) work just fine.

  • How do I restore error message when there's not enough room to sync?

By default, iTunes displays an error message when there is not enough room on the iPod to store all the files that are scheduled for synchronization.
This message also has a checkbox for "Do not remind me again" (or something to that effect). The other day, I stupidly checked this box, and now I don't know how to restore the default setting (i.e., to display the error message). Instead, iTunes just silently does nothing -- with no diagnostic -- if it finds that there's not enough room on my iPod to complete a sync.
    Any ideas?

My family member's iPhone recently erased all of its contact information, with no action taken by my family member. She is trying to use the restore backup function to recover her contacts.
The restore backup functions says that there is not enough space on my iPhone to restore backup. How do I fix this/how do I know how much space I need to complete this backup?
We have removed the majority of pictures from her phone, and she has 4.1 GB of memory free.
    Thank you!

You need at least as much space as you have used on the iPod. Could be as much as 64 GB but is probably much less.
Find a way to delete what you do not need on the computer. Start by emptying the Recycle Bin.

  • DisplayLink Fails After System Restore

I recently posted that my WIFI failed and after much frustration did a system recovery via the hidden partion.  WIFI is all good now, yeah!
But, my Kensington Displaylink (K33926US) fails to function, although it did previously.  Kensington support had me try different drivers and none were successful.  They finally said that the problem was the computer and I needed to update my graphics display driver.!?
I know this is a software issue since the dock worked a few days ago prior to the recovery.  After my last experience I'm very reluctant to do the wrong thing.  Plus Kensington did not fill me with confidence.
    I'm running NVIDIA 8.17.12.5912 dated 7/26/2010 on a Qosmio X-505-Q894 with Win 7, X64 and SP1.
Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

I have no idea what Kensington Displaylink is or how important it is to you.  However, I did find a display driver for you to try.  It has the same version number but with a later release date, 8/11/10, which normally indicates some kind of change was made after 7/26/10. You can download it from HERE.  Good Luck!!  I hope it solves your problem.

  • System restore needed or are there other options

This problem has been ongoing but now I'm ready to do something about it! I accidentally changed (I think!) my powerbook's name so while I can see files from my windows machine on my mac, when in explorer, Windows says the path is invalid on my machine. In other words, it sees the mac, but cant access the files (file sharing is on). Is there a way to repair the path or is it best to just bite the bullet and reinstall the system? If so, what is the easiest way to back up my files, especially music and pictures? Thanks!

I don't know the answer, but I would like to think that someone has a simple answer for you. I suggest that you also post this problem in the Networking and Web forum.
Even if your problem has a simple solution, this is a good time to consider a backup strategy for your computer. You could buy something like a 200 GB firewire external hard drive. You could format it with at least two partitions, one big enough to hold a bootable version of your operating system and the other a large partition where you could store all of your music and other important files.
Some sources of info on backup strategies would be:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/backuprecovery.html
and type "best way to back up your mac" in the search box at the top right of this screen. You will get lots of hits with good info.

  • Time machine image on USB drive.....but USB needed for System restore?

I have a corrupted system image on my macbook air, that requires that I restore the system via the installer CD's....the problem is that I have a backup of my system as a time machine image, on an external, USB hard drive.
How do I do a reinstall of Mac OS, and a restore of my time machine image, if I only have one USB port that is needed to access the Installer DVD?.....how do I get my hard drive (with the Time Machine image) connected while the Mac OS installer is active?

The best answer to your question is to put the System restore disk in a remote machine and restore over the network. While slow, this will allow you to have the timemachine drive connected during the restore process.
If you do not have another machine then I am sure you can take your hardware to an Apple store and one of the Geniuses can get it up and going for you while in the store.
If you have a hub and the wired ethernet adapter that will drastically improve the speed of this process.
