Meaning mobo beeps

Can somebody give a guide to mobo beeps?
My motherboard makes such sequence:  1 long and short beep then series of 8 short beeps.  I may be wrong with that 1long and short at the beginning because of my shitty speaker but  those 8 beeps are clearly heard.
please help.

with MSI D-BRACKET 2 you can now which hardware is not work correctly)

  • MSI Radeon R7 250 black screen and mobo beep in game

Hi guys I have a bit of a problem with my video card, I bought MSI Radeon R7 250 last month I haven't played any games really since then as I had no time, but about week ago when I started to play world of warcraft, after 2h of gameplay my screen went black and my mobo buzzer started to beep, this have happened with my other games too. I have checked the buzzer code it and it turned that im getting video/display error, I have been searching over the web about the source of it but I got nothing, now my question is can I fix it somehow or is it a manufacture issue, all of my divers are up to date.
My PC is practically new i got it at the end of last year, those are the specs:
CPU: AMD Athlone IIx2 270 3.2GHz (I have overclocked it to 3.99GHz but after the errors I got it back to stock)
    RAM: 2x2Gb Corsair Value DDR3
    Mobo: MSI 760GA - P43(FX)
    GPU: MSI Afterburner Radeon R7 250 1Gb GDDR5 (4.6 Effective Memory Clock)
    PSU: 500W
When I was overclocking the CPU I got Arctic Freezer 13 so all the temps were fine.
I have runned stress test with FurMark for about 30 min just to check temps and i got 60 degree, in game im getting about 45 - 50, CPU max is 26

Try clearing CMOS >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Also try running the PC without the GPU inside (make sure you disconnect power cables).
PSU seems to be enough for this GPU. But if possible (hopefully a friend has better one) test with different PSU. And test the card in different PC too (if possible of course).

  • Loud (I mean LOUD) Beep

My MBP has done some strange things from time to time with the speakers... The odd loud pop... some crackling... I just chalked it up to persnickity Mac... However, I was just playing a little CIV IV, when I got the scare of my life.
A LOUD (and I can not emphasize the LOUD part enough) beep (sounded like system beep) ERUPTED from my speakers, in fact it was so lound I have a little ringing in my ears.
The beep was only a second... Then there was the aformetnioned pop crackle, then everthing was back to normal.
    What was that?
Is it a heating issue? (I asked this based on the fact these werid things only seem to happen when Im running somthing that makes the system 'cook')
Seriouly... Im worried that somthing is messed up with my MBP...
My current up time is about 2 days... CPU temp currently (a minute after this happend is 64) CPU is 74% idle RAM 15mb free, HD 10 gig free currently on a wired network - 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo w/ 1GB 667 MHz DDR@ SDRAM.
    Help.
    Thanks

I have had something similar although I wouldn't call it a beep. Probably about three times in the past many months a loud crackling, buzzing, and cranking sound has been emitted from my laptop's loudspeakers. It's probably equal to or less than one second in duration. Very quick and extremely loud. I was not doing anything in particular to evoke this. And, there seem to be no pattern to what I do that would cause this. This has happened only about three times.

  • Beeps, and something weird before/ PC won't run

When i come back from shool today, my brother told me that PC dosen't work
So I turned it on, and when WinXP should start to boot it showed my a long list of nines(before this was one L), something like that: L99 99 99 99 99 ...
    It was on black screen:s
    BIOS was working correctly.
So, I turned off power and checked PC.
There was a bit dusty, so I paint brush and cleaned it up. Couldn't clean CPU property, cous I'm not sure how to get of cooler and this metal thing(don't how it names in english;] radiator?). So i just cleaned a bit cooler and left it how it was.
Also i checked does everything is order and inserted propertly.
Then, I put PC back, turned power on and lunched it.
This time bios didn't launched, nines didn't appeared, but beeps started !
So, I think I got them right, but they beeped so fast, so it could be mistake +/- 1
1 long, pause, and then 9 or 8 short beeps. (pretty sure its 9)
I tought its all, but after a while(10 sec perhaps) there are next beeps - 2 short, pause and 1 short.
Still, I'm not sure, those this first is short or long, but it was deffinitly diffrent than others, so it has to be this long, cous it was a bit longer :P
But please consider in addition this long one, as short, and then make it 9 or 10 short beeps. Just in case
ps. perhaps those nines on bootup got the same meaning like beeps, L=long, and 9= 9 beeps.
    Please help
Everything was working good, and it happened;/ Never overlocked CPU and other things.

    Switched ram to other bank.
Put out and then put in graphic card in agp slot.
    reedon connections with HDD
Result: beeps stoped, again after checking NVRAM and other thinkgs it shows me L 99 99 99 99 .. when my Win XP should bootup.

  • Notebook beeps while booting up

After a clean up by tech expert who removed messenger (duplicate) from msconfig and one thing from start up menu,
I installed the latest windows updates. First restart was fine.
Next time I rebooted and heard two beeps after I saw the desktop icons. Rebooted.
Heard one beep. Still hear that beep. Google suggests one beep is normal but I'm not used to beeps.
Old laptop but upgraded with six month old hard disc and drivers by toshiba experts.
Had AVG. Installed microsoft essentials after beep (made no difference).
Am I in trouble or is this fine? Programmes work well. (Famous last words?)

    Hi
Notebook beeps while booting because it runs the POST (power on self test)
This is a usual procedure and nothing unusual.
If you mean this beeps then you should not be worried about that this is ok

  • Mac Pro constant beeping

My Mac Pro has started beeping non stop, usually after coming out of sleep. This happens occaisionally and goes away on reboot.  Any idea what it might be? I was thinking possibly power supply?
In googling this, all I seem to find is the info for beeps on startup. I need to find the meaning of beeps while computer is up and running.
    Thanks in advance.

It may be the same as beeps on startup -- Bad RAM.

  • K8N Neo2 Platinum Crash and Will Not ReStart

    Hi all,
I built my current system in Feb 2005 and it has been rock solid ever since.  Then this evening I was working on my budget when all of a sudden I lost the video signal to my monitor.  I shut down the computer.  I tried pressing the power button and nothing.  I unplugged the P/S, waited a couple of minutes, plugged it back in and pressed the power button.  System came back on but still no video signal and system is not posting.  All fans, including cpu fan come on but I do show the following LED's illuminated on the D-Bracket 2:  Upper left is yellow, upper right is red, lower left is red and lower right is yellow.  When I try to restart, the LED's do not recycle back to 4 reds, they remain Y- R - R - Y.  I tried replacing the video card no effect.  I also reseated my 4 sticks of ram, no change.  After many attempts at trying to restart, now I'm getting an unending beep, actually more like an alarm when I attempt to power on the system.  The alarm may be coming from the P/S I can't really tell.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.
    Andy

according to stick's notice if your d-bracket's leds are all red then you know the deal - CPU damaged or not installed properly
The possibility for suddenly a cpu is dead is pretty low .
This code may still mean mobo is borked , like it's not giving CPU 1.45v feed , i.e like a cap or a VRM responisible for cpu voltage on the mobo is kaputt. It can also be a creack on the PCB level on the motherboard if it had warped itself during mounting (or later) ,this is pretty common.
I set my money on that the mobo is failing .

  • "Touch" buttons no longer work on Satellite A500-14L

    Hi,
    I am owner of Satellite A500-14L (PSAM3E).
I noticed today that the buttons for switching to ECO mode, or turning keyboard's lights on and off are no longer working, however, witching those settings via Toshiba assist utilities works perfectly.
I did *not* reconfigure the buttons usage. I was wondering if there was an easy way to "restore" their default functionnalities...
    Thanks by advance !!
(Already tried shutdown / restart / delog-relog things)

Unfortunately, reinstalling toshiba VAP did not solve the problem.
    Here's another strange thing:
-I tried to assign different programs to both the eco and the 'lights' buttons with toshiba button setting program
-when I then touch a button, it "reacts", which means it beeps, or even blinks for the "light" button, but nothing happens. I mean really nothing, whichever program or file I assign to the button...
This make me think that the buttons themselves are not faulty, since they beep and blink. What seems to be faulty is the "pipe" that lies behind that step.
Thanks for any other help you may give ! And thanks for your answers that were usefull anyway...

  • K330 with a dead (?) drive

Saturday, the machine worked fine. Sunday, Win7 updates were done. Tried turning it back on-- "select boot drive". There is NO harddrive option. There is a low, long beep from the drive (not mobo beeps, unplugged HDD-- beeping stopped). Tried to boot from a mini xp disk, doesn't recognize drive. Spinrite doesn't see a drive, took out drive put it in a driver reader, won't mount. Even 30m in the freezer didn't help. So now that it's dead (pretty certain it's a goner); is there a "recovery" disk from Lenovo so that I can install to a new drive?

if you have no cds that came with it then there was a recovery partition was on the hdd if the hdd and you never did a persional backup then you will have to buy a copy of windows, how old is the pc if its still under warrenty then they should replace it, if not goto the hdd web site and see if the hdd is covered

  • Siren sound...again

Opteron 244 in MSI K8D Master-F. See more specs in my signature below.
PC powers up, 5-10 seconds later the infamous siren sound (continuos high-low-high-low tones) starts.
NOTE: The PC boots just fine, Windows runs at it should... CPU temp is 45°C, chassis intrusion is disabled and cleared, BUT the MSI PC Alert util still states that the chassis is open, grrr..shouldn't matter, tho'.
IT's just that f**** annoying siren sound!!!
Flashed BIOS today (could be something here), got the sound afterwards. Cleared CMOS, loaded CMOS defaults, cleared logs, cleared intrusion, disabled intrusion.
Google'd around, checked MSI and AMD sites.
Found 4 explanations for this particular mobo beep code: (It's got an AMI BIOS)
    1. Wrong RAM type
    2. CPU overheating
    3. Chassis intrusion
    4. PSU problem
...but the damn thing have been working fine the last cpl' days, so how do I stop the "#¤#"¤ sound?
Read somewhere that it was possible to hear this sound if the mobo THOUGHT there was no system fans inside the case. Well, the only fan connected to the mobo, is the CPU fan. The 7 case fans are controlled and powered separately from the mobo. So, if this is the problem, how do I "tell" the mobo to shup up about it?
Update: System won't boot at all, now. No signal on screen. Only siren sound. Fans and all spins up, tho'. Had the same situation when trying to run the PC on other memory types. Now I'm stuck. Again.
    Any ideas appreciated....

Hi all. Thanx for your ideas and efforts :-)
    FYI, current status:
No beeping now; I upgraded the BIOS to the newest one, cleared CMOS, disabled what-could-be-disabled regarding system chassis & cpu temp monitoring, and put a jumper on the chassis intrusion pins on the mobo.
Didn't get the Audigy2ZS to work, but funnily enough, the Audigy 1 works as a dream!
Don't have any onboard sound, nor AGP slot; this is a "server" mobo and therefore, some wiseass decided that AGP wasn't necessary. No big deal for me, really, as I'm not a gamer, but AGP _would_ have been nice.
Have only got 2 PCI slots, the rest are PCIX. The Audigy2ZS is detected and you can hear crosstalk in the SPDIF connector when something is played, but that's pretty much it. Gone through all system settings with a couple of friends (one of which is an mcse and -should- have known what he was doing) - reinstalled, checked the device manager, multimedia settings, volume controls, pretty much the lot. Card works as a dream in another PC, tho'. Anyway, no big deal, I'll just use it in one of my other machines and stick to the Audigy 1 in this one for now.
I'll guess it's cased closed for now :-)
    Thanx a mil'

  • Im getting tree bings on a grey screen after the latest update

is any one else having this problem?

Hi, not quite sure what tree bings is?
    Do you mean 3 beeps?
Can you count the beeps or flashes?
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

  • 4 chimes at Startup

Think I have had this before and it either required a new motherboard when under Apple Care, or maybe it was the HD failure.
The machine had been sent to sleep and only the front light was on. When I tried to wake it using space bar and then trackpad key, no response.
Had to switch off using power button. On attempt to restart it lit up near the latch and then I got four start up chimes. Did not move to boot and latch light would flash, then hold steady a short while then flash.
Tried power button again and then restart with the following combinations of keys pressed:- A)Command Option P R, Option, Command S . Pushed a Disk Warrior cd in the slot and tried to boot from that.
No success and then could not get DW cd out using the usual methods available in this situation.
Any suggestions as to how to get the DW cd out and to set the G4 PB going? I have a fairly recent Time Machine backup on a fire wire HD, and I have an old Titanium PB that works (hopefully). Will this mean a mechanical repair (of HD and/or motherboard).

Brody, thanks. The DW cd about a month ago worked OK. The 4 beeps came after the cd inserted admittedly, but it first appeared before that on an (attempted) boot from the HD. In strictness on an attempt to wake up , and then several attempts to start up from cold from the HD. Only then did I try an alternative of the Disk Warrior version of the OS.
I see the apple article article you quoted say four beeps means "4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)". Where is the sys config block in the Mac system? Is it in the rom or on the HD. If it is in the firmware then both the alleged potential errors are in (more or less) one place. If sys config block is (as I would think from DOS) on the early loads from storage then it could be either the firmware or the HD.
I have tried to eject the cd holding down the "mouse button" , in my case the trackpad left key. It did not work. I have never got it to work on my recent PBs. I would normally use a drutil command from Terminal.
In view of the foregoing, I will try a longer hold on the 'C' key though my recall is that the 'steady-flash' behaviour of the power light was there even with an attempt to boot from DW.
